"Ki... Kikora?" Kono-epesi echoed, head tilted to one side to mirror Kikora's. Silently, she worked through the other lioness' name, memorizing it as well as going through the unfamiliar sounds. "...Oh! Sorry! I don't know that many names, and I dun wanna accidently forget... Or mess up and call you something completely different."

Her orange eyes studied Kikora's pelt before switching back to her own. "Not really," she admitted, "It's difficult, unless I hunt at night. And even then, my orange spots tend to stick out... o'course that's how I ended up with my name!" She jumped up then and struck a crouching pose, paw raised with small, sharp claws bared. "Swiftpaw!" She struck out at the air, her paw an orange-and-black blur. "I've learned to move and hunt quickly -- I can get birds just as they're about to fly away! How about you?"

The large warthog waltzed along the dryness of the lands, t beading off his brow. He was panting, his tail dragging on the earth behind him, raising up a cloud of dust. It was obvious he was been out for a while, and he needed a rest and a drink. He stopped, his snout to the ground, sniffing up clouds of filth. Satisfying his nose, he continued on, heading torward a dry tree, shade. With a grunt, he dropped down onto his side, relaxing in the coolness. A rythum came from his throat. It was a familiar song, on he knew well. 'Hakuuunnnaaa.. Daddaaadaaa... hmmm. hnnn" He sang, lifting his head in eagerness.

Binti tilted her head slightly to the side, feeling...triumphant...but at the same time, intrigued by the young cheetah's reaction. Ignoring all of the other cubs, she padded off after Laio, having seen something in her that she could respect--an ability to try to intimidate even when one seemed heavily outnumbered. Of course, her curiosity was so piqued that she didn't even ask Essien if he'd prefer to follow her or if he'd like to try taking up with one of the other youths who'd congregated around the watering hole.

After drinking her fill, Kivuli yawned and stretched and was about to find a nice, shady place to take a nap when something piqued her senses... Her ears perked forward, and she sniffed the air eagerly. Food? In the Southlands? She'd thought that this area was barren, but the scent was definately coming from a creature that wasn't feline, but more porcine...

((Tis fine Vashy 4laugh I've been a little confused about what to do with Kivuli as well...))

Kikora's green eyes widened at the speed of Kono-epesi's strike.
"Wow! I've never seen anyone move as fast as that," she said with frank admiration. "No wonder you can get birds and all. I've tried, but I dunno. I'm always just a bit too slow. I get by, though," she said brightly. "I think 'cause I'm the same colour as the grass and all, that helps me a little...I usually hunt small things. And I can get birds sometimes, if I'm lucky."

"Don' worry 'bout the name thing, I forget names all the time! But I won't forget yours," she confided in a low whisper. "Your name's real different from others I know, so it en't hard to remember."

"You been travellin' far to get here?" she asked, extremely curious about the black and orange cub. "Or did you come from someplace close by?"

Kono-epesi nodded and sat up, puffing with pride. "It en - isn't that hard to get birds, provided that you can be fast and quiet. Then again..." The cub reached out with a paw and poked at some long strands of grass, sending it to one side... Which in turn bent the one next to it, which in turn bent the one next to it... Domino effect! "Y'also have to keep in mind of that."

The black cub nodded in agreement to the golden cub's statement. "Yeah -- you're name is a bit like a song, so methinks I'll have no trouble forgetting it!"

At the question, Kono flicked her tail around her frontpaws and stared at the pure snow-white and fiery orange, thinking. "Well... Sort've. You see, there was a big argument a couple of nights ago, and since I couldn't sleep with it going on, I kinda... Wandered off. I think they're back... That way?" She raised a paw and gestured towards her right, shrugging. "I... I don't think I'm too sure anymore." She admitted. "What about you?"

Of course Essien follows Binti--- what else does he have to do around here? His eyes travel to the other cubs as he walks, but he still keeps up with his "friend." He couldn't imagine being alone again, not after finding someone he could talk to, as odd as Binti could be. And she was a lioness who could hunt (albeit one who didn't understand her place)! The others may be friendly, too, but it wasn't a sure thing...

I live, honestly. xD;

Kikora nodded as the other cub spoke, her eyes growing wider and wider in admiration. Smart, fast and nice! Kikora hadn't met any friendly creatures in her travels, so having someone who was this accomodating was, quite simply, a novelty. A really, really good novelty that Kikora wished would happen more often.

The question made her think. Hard. She didn't mind telling the black-and-orange cub the answer, but it did make her feel a little wistful. And she was a rogue now! She couldn't, wouldn't go back to her family. She was better off without them, and they were better off without her.
"Well," she began slowly, "there was just me, and my mother and my brothers. We was managin' fine, but I just didn' feel like I could stay. I kinda didn' wanna, anyway." She patted a stem of grass with one paw, thoughtful for a while and then looked up with a brief smile.

"It works both ways, I guess. I don' miss them or anythin'. Don' think they miss me, but it don' matter." Her chest swelled with the typical pride of someone who has done something they previously thought impossible. "It was hard to leave, but I did it. I walked a while to get here. Pretty bad territ'ry 'tween there and here. You never been there? I was real nervous after goin' there. Lions over there are very protective 'bout their territ'ry's."

She batted at an itch in her ear with a golden paw, although her eyes never Kono's orange ones. "You miss your family?"

(( Sorry I took so long to reply, v. busy IRL this week ;_; ))

"Me?" Kono-epesi replied, thinking. "...Well... sometimes," she admitted, stirring the dust with an orange-dipped paw. "But then again, if I returned they'd probably start arguing about cubs that wander, then about their watchful moms, then the watchful pride itself..." She shrugged, then brightened up. "I can tell you that it's MUCH better to get away from them! Peace'n'quiet and a matey to chat to, too!"

The black cub laid down, breathing a sigh of relief at the coolness of the earth. It was quite shady in the grass... Provided that the wind blew the grass over you. "This is my first time out of my territory... They don't really change in appearance much, do they?"

After leaving the 'boys' to get along on their own for awhile - and maybe even become friends, although she's not too certain that 'her' squire is the talkative type to others - Ciyari journies southwards, skirting the Pridelands border and into southern, unclaimed territory. The little gray female flounces along, jogging lightly and carelessly over the hills. Her limbs are lengthening...she's very, very close to becoming a juvenile. Oddly enough, she's much more graceful than most children during this stage in life...but perhaps that's because of all the practice she puts into it. The little girl is decidedly vain.

It's a breezy day out, and the wind tugs at her headfur as she jogs along a small ridge, the shorter grasses tickling at her belly. She snaps at them in annoyance, sniffing scornfully and holding her head high, on the alert for anything odd moving in the area. One can never be too careful...there may be hyenas about. Or, worse - in Ciyari's opinion - pridal leonines.

Kivuli is distracted from the scent of the prey animal by a flash of movement in the grasses. She sniffs the air curiously and, sure enough, it's another lion. As the other cat nears she is able to see that it's a young female, with a grey coat slightly lighter than her own. Her ears perk forward, curious about the newcomer.

Hmm? What's this? Movement on the plains? Ciyari's head snaps around, and she spots Kivuli nearby in the grasses. A pridal? Or a rogue...it's difficult to tell. Certainly no adult, this, and therefore she can be trusted...at least initially.

Despite being younger than the other, Ciyari carries herself as if she were older - or more important. Cocky yet graceful, she saunters up to the other gray cub, brows shifting ever so slightly upwards as she moves towards Kivuli.

Kivuli watches as the other cub trots up to her. She seems to have an air about her, as though she were royalty or the like... Kivuli raises her own eyebrows in amusement and closes the gap between the two of them as she strides towards the grey cub.

Silence had befallen the plains, all but for a few travelers and the whispering wind, which carried over the stalks of grass that inhabited the area. Unfortunatly there really was no place to hide amongst the area, which made it.. difficult, needless to say, to hide. In turn, the juvinile male traveled along at an easy pace, uncaring of the blazing orb settled in the sky as the day drolled on. His tail flicked behind him, as Hidalgo crossed the plains in search of shade, water, possibly food.. or perhaps company, which he hadn't had since the encounter in his youth with a leopard and another cub of his own age. So far his life had been far from interesting, merely spending the long days alone without contact of others of his own kind. Luckily, Hidalgo happened to be easy to spot, making it far easier for anything else to notice him, what with the auburn coat splashed with random colors of white. Beady black eyes roamed the terrain, brushing the plains for sudden movement other than the blades of grass waving quietly in the wind. But what was this..? Two.. gray blobs.. a brow was quirked as this while the male begun to stare at the figures in the distance. Possibly animals of his own species..? Hidalgo's mind began to drift, his course altering, aiming for the two younger cubs.. it was clear he was larger than they, however at this point there wasn't any reason to care. "Hey!" he called suddenly, in an obvious attempt to catch their attention.

Kivuli's attention is averted once again by the yell of another lion. She turns, and discovers that the cat who had called was a juvenile male. His coat is strikingly colored and he seems to be sociable enough... Her tail flicks back and forth anxiously as he approaches her and the other cub.

"Hello," she calls back, a hint of uncertainty in her voice.
