The only book I have read by her was, Teen Witch, and I found that she gives some good information. Like a list of herbs that are good for healing, clensing, ect., spells. But I really don't like her work. I have also tried a healing spell made by her (I forgot what one) and I put a lot of focus and energy into it and it just didn't really work. Like it felt like I was trying to do some Hollywood spell. It wasn't to the extreme of Hollywood but it just didn't feel like a real spell. She has good and bad help in her book, but so does the movie the Craft. *shrug* sweatdrop but I'm still new at practing Wicca.

I don't like her writings, because there are some valid facts but they are amidst her strong opinions about her religion. Teen Witch was the first book of hers that i bought and the first book on wicca that I have bought. I admit that it piqued my interest but I quickly realized how much of it was extremely opinionated. She even mentions that you should hide your faith from your parents and even if they ask, you should tell them it is about angels. I do not support hiding things from your parents unless it is necessary or lying to them outright. I do not know her personally but I know that her writing has brought a kind of instant Witch that can think that "Mama Silver" is the be all and end all of Wicca.

This is why I don't read Silver Ravenwolf: http://wicca.timerift.net/ravenwolf.shtml

Wow. I hadn't really read anything by her (just picked up and thumbed through, not really reading it.), but after reading THAT article, damn... I didn't know she was like that x.x Making kids wanna lie to their parents!

"Oh no, this is an ANGEL tarot deck mom. I just like it...for the pictures of the pretty angels."

"Oh okay sweetie. Have fun!"

x.x This is just so wrong, her saying that and then the "nine million" being burned during the burning times and-- Yeah i'm just not even going to look at her stuff now XD

Don't trust someone else's word. Writing essays like this one is easy and proves nothing; if your mission is to discredit something - doesn't matter what it is - you can write an essay that does just that regardless of the fact that there may be valuable content to the source. Don't let someone else do your thinking for you.

On the other hand, if you have limited time and are only reading to cultivate your own personal practice, there are better books to invest your time in. If you want a more well-rounded perspective of the Craft as a religious/spiritual movement, Ravenwolf is far too influential to be left off the reading list.
