Well, that certainly doesn't sound good... Vashtya thought, hoping that the Crystal Guardian appeared soon, so that he could ask her if she knew anything about the strange, unsettling message he held in his hands. Folding it carefully, the half-elf stuffed the paper in the bag alongside Shakti, opening it back up to a blazing yellow light--it was apparent that the crystal, utterly displeased with being left out of the excitement, was attempting to blind him. -.-;;

}--Welcome to the Masquerade--{
...For a while the temple doors had remained bound and locked, within activity was evident and yet hidden from those who desired to enter. Nevertheless, as the week passed and the day finally came the doors were once again opened to the public and in place of the empty hall it had been completely transformed.
Along the walls of the temple hall rested tables, carefully lain with food and drink of all traditions and origins (whether or not anyone knew how to eat it was a different matter however). Similarly, within the centre of the hall the carpet had been removed or some how magically replaced by a small glass like ballroom floor for their usage.
Mingling within the temple, a number of strangely clad wraiths existed, their ethereal hands supporting the trays of food and drink that simply couldn't fit upon the overcrowded tables - to make matters worse, the warm food had already been chilled to the bone by the cold wraith lik hands but then again, some might actually appreciate sushi, no?
Above the stairs, close to the summoning chambers a small orchestra of humans and peculiar creature alike were seated and appeared to be otherwise engrossed in playing the orchestral pieces before them than paying attention to the rest of the party.
The interior, despite having lost its blue lanterns had developed a soft azure aura while outside upon the balcony (that seemed to have somehow been outfitted with tables and chairs) even the trees had been expertly decorated by the glowing pixies and fireflies lurking within them...
"Welcome!" A peculiar woman chirped, her wide blue eyes peering out from behind the ornate white mask in which she wore, her silver lockes hidden behind the large plumes of dyed white peacock feathers, "I'm glad to see that you could attend, please make yourselves at home and enjoy the party!" She added merrily before pausing briefly and then offering a meek smile.
"Food is all around, drinks are by the wraiths!" She finished before darting back into the crowd of already growing visitors...

Sniff, sniff...
Meat... blood... fire... smoke... all of it wafted past the man's nose, bringing a large, fanged smile to his oversized mug.
His stomach rumbled, and soon, the earth did as well. It sounded like a herd of cattle was moving on the temple, crashing through the forest, in a dead run right for the door.
Finally, a shadow appeared beneath the trees. Quickly it broke the tree line. It was large, and moving fast... how could something that large, move that quickly?
Easily, when there was food on the line.
The half-ogre burst through the door, sliding across the glass, falling down, and continuing onwards, until he hit one of the tables, and latched on...
A platter of stuffed peppers were gone... the man belched... even the platter was gone, seemed to have been devourered in that split second where someoen blinked...

A delicate winged body waltzed into the temple, graciously and quietly greeting the hosts of the party and anyone else he managed to greet. But, being an Al Sylian, Mirror was attracted to the music like a moth to the light.
The young man didn't even bother to stop and grab something from the table, or inspect the curious interior of the ball, but rather he made his way to the dance floor. He fluttered his dusty colored wings a bit, thankful for a bit of space to himself, before he placed his arms before him and began to softly dance along with the music. His shining grey mask, designed with curls of black and white, criss crossing one another like webs morphed into the shape of wings on either side of his temples.
This was going to be a great dance.

Masa's silvery eyes glanced around the room from behind a reletively plain black and white mask that just covered her eyes and each side of her face. Her eyes kept looking fondly upwards towards the wonderfully unusual creatures that were a part of the orchestra. Masa was turning out to be a very pretty wall-flower, not having the confidence to socialise much with all these people, even though she wanted to. There was just so many people.
She looked down again as a rather peculiar-looking woman spoke. Nodding as the woman spoke, she smiled and looked towards one of the wraiths for a drink. That's when she heard the rumbling. Blinking a few times, she looked towards the door, just in time to see a beastly-looking man burst in. "Ah!" She jumped back, pressing herself against one of the pillars as the man skidded past. Once he had crashed and settled at one of the tables, she slumped a little and frowned at the thing, before walking over to one of the wraiths for a drink.

Making a face at his partner's apparent lack of any ediquate at all, Kale sighed deeply as he stuck close to the halfling that was like a small mountain. "Refresh my memory, what was the reason I joined up with you again?" Kale asked as he came to a stop near the half ogre who nearly shadowed him. Reaching to get a drink, he quickly retracted his hand at getting a look at the wraith. Unable to help a shudder at the creatures supposedly trained to wait on them. This didn't bode well, and he simply wanted to go back out to find some unsuspecting Lord to robe.

"Because... unlike these people, you haven't suffered from a lobotomy," the armored man said, stepping into the temple. He seemed cold, and to be glaring at everyone, and everything inside the temple. There was a slight frown of displeasure coming from the only visable part of his face, as he finally settled back. He took a step, laying back against against the wall near the door, "Have some fun, there is still time left."

Niva walked slowly, each step having a long pause. Her eyes scanned over the temple, the open doors, the great walls. The music washed over her, calming her heart, touching her soul.
Her step was slightly faltering, as he entered the temple doors, walking over towards a place where she could get a seat, preferably near the musicians.

The woman who greeted him was peculiar, which probably meant that she was nobility; as such, Merrick d'Seery bowed low when greeting her. It seemed strange to be holding a party inside such a sacred and magical place, but the Baron d'Seery's son never refused an invitation to a party. Truth be told, he had jumped at the chance to see the inside of the temple...and were those wraiths? Amazing...he had never seen one up close...
Ignoring the chill that ran through his flesh as he approached the nearest wraith, he got as close as he could without actually touching it, trying to examine it from every angle possible. He attempted to disguise his interest by pretending to be deeply interested in each of the delicacies on the tray the wraith was holding, while continuously shifting his eyes from the food to the wraith itself when he thought it wasn't looking.
Merrick was decked out in finery, as usual, in rich vestments of a deep purple hue, trimmed with gold. His silk shirt trailed out behind him in a mockery of coat tails, and the pants seemed cut in a way that made them balloon out to the sides. A top hat that was much too small crowned his head, and an impractical golden mask that covered all but his mouth completed the ensemble.
The charge of the half-ogre startled his attention away from the wraith. Who had invited that?

Tail wagging, Quinn plodded into the Main Hall, happy to see several trays full of what appeared to be sweet treats. Adjusting her mask, she approached the table warily. The giant hulk of a creature sucking down everything in sight was a little intimidating.
Plopping her plushie on her head, she began delicately piling treats on to a plate, careful to keep back from the big creature.

((^^; ah.... sorry Arc))
"I was under the impression that there was gold to be had." Kale commented, snatching a goblet from a tray before he decided against it again. "This place is slightly creepy, I don't know what fun there is to be had here. All the same...." He looked back at the one who greeted the people entering the party, smirk playing at his lips. "If you'll excuse me my good man," He started off to meet the hostess, or so he assumed the woman was. A shameless flirt for the most part, but didn't someone who conned people out of their money need to have people skills?

Bouncing into the Masquerade, Zayn tugged at his clothing and hoped it was acceptible. He didn't think there were any paint stains on this set of clothes. Hopefully his wings and tail would be fancy enough to make up for his basic outfit - he hadn't wanted to wear a good set of robes when he had to walk this far to the ball... and if they had to go straight from here to their next locations or not.
Getting himself a glass of punch, Zayn peered around at all the strange other people and tried to stamp all the outfits and beings into his mind.

Fire pushed the door open to find an elegant room with the aroma of food tickling his nose. He looked around in delight to find many unfamiliar faces, however what he looked for was the source to his stomache's happiness. Finally after looking around twice and getting a bit dizzy he spotted it - an abundant of food scattered across the tables. With that, he rushed over excitedly and began tasting the array of food that sent his tongue on a wild yet delicious ride!

A very distressed Kyada raced through the forest as fast as her legs would carry her. She was late, and she was NEVER late. Misaris squawked from up above, her frustration evident. "I know, I know! But I couldn't just leave them there." Ky snapped. "They needed to be saved. Five seconds later and they would have been toast! TOAST!!!" Ky lightly patted her satchel. "Do you know how hard it is to find morel mushrooms around here, and in such large quantities too! It would have been unforgivable to pass them by."
Misaris didn't answer; tardiness was unforgivable.
10 minutes later and they had arrived. Kyada smoothed out her red kimono, and using some dewy moss from nearby cleaned her feet as best she could. When she was finished, she awkwardly stared at her shoes. "Do I really need to wear them Misa? I mean really, they're such ridiculous contraptions." But she already knew the answer, so slowly she slipped on her leather slip-ons.
With her feet snugly in her shoes Ky twirled once so Misa could make sure she was presentable. With an approving chirp Misa landed on Ky's shoulder and the two of them headed into the temple's main hall.
Once inside they were awestruck. They'd never seen such a beautiful room before, and the food! The scents that were wafting from all corners were unlike any Ky had ever come across. Checking her kimono and feet once again, Ky casually made her way further into the hall.
The music was enchanting, the lights were hypnotizing, and the guests were so radiant. Ky felt as if she'd been whisked away to a far off paradise, and if it hadn't been for Misa she would have walked right into the person handing out foo....WRAITH!!! Ky's face went pale as she realized just what it was that was carrying the food tray...and was now coming towards her. Violently jerking herself away from the advancing ethereal being, she turned to flee only to be met by another one right behind her. Letting out a faint sqweak, Ky did her best to keep from tripping over herself as she tried to get away from the wraiths as quickly as possible.
Finally, she managed to find a quiet corner. Leaning against the wall Ky managed to catch her breath, and surveyed the room once again. There were wraiths everywhere! "It would appear that this is not paradise after all." Ky despaired.
High up in the rafters, Misa kept a watchful eye over the ongoings below.
