Underworld - Central Cavern
His heart was sore… It hurt him to think. Was all this pain really worth having a heart? Did all this despair and sorrow really equate to something like that?
Roxas continued to stare blankly at the ground with eyes full of both fear and remorse. He gathered his knees to his chest and hugged them tightly, keeping his thoughts to only himself. His friends around him were speaking to Xeryim but Roxas did not hear their words. Someone had even come near him but he did not bother to notice who it was. A girl maybe? Namine?
“…Namine…” He whispered hoarsely, barely audible.
This was all too much. Roxas felt like his heart would burst with hopelessness. Riku’s Heartless was more than he expected. He knew Roxas like Riku would. It was almost as if he wasRiku… He was powerful and he was smart. No. Not just smart. He was brilliant. It was as if he knew Roxas better than he knew himself.
And not only had Xeryim appeared, Roxas felt a presence he knew all to well appear only a short time ago. Something had happened to Sora… something that involved Aros. And then he had spoken to him. The Heartless swore to harm all his friends… to hurt Roxas… to hurt Namine… to hurt everyone he loved…
Then Xeryim suggested that the two join forces just to rid the universe of anyone Roxas loved. Their powers individually were overwhelming. Roxas would have no chance of victory against them. He would loose everyone at their hands. There was nothing he could do.
He gave up.

Tidus returned his glare back at Riku's Heartless. "You have to be lying! Roxas is literally sobbing his heart out! What did you do!" The Blitzer snapped, gripping Brotherhood tightly at the hilt. He would never forgive this monster for hurting his friends!
All common sense left Tidus then. He was too blinded by anger to not move anymore. Shouting loudly, Tidus lifted his Longsword and brought it down towards Xeryim in an attempt to do damage.
Something ran through his mind, screaming at him that he had completely messed up. That he was going to pay for that...But he didn't care. He was more concerned with avenging Roxas.
((for those of you who never played FFX, Brotherhood is the sword wakka gave him in the game))

Cavern
He found himself rather irritated at the boy charging toward him. He growled, loudly, as he caught the ice blue blade in its downswing and wrenched it to the side, bending Tidus' arm over his own. "Tidus, isn't it? You don't belong here, and you don't belong in a situation that allows you to be as stupid as you just were."
He pushed forward, bending the boy's arm further, further to the breaking point. No bone should be bent to the angle he was bending it now. He grinned, showing teeth, as the sickening crack of bone breaking met his ears. He released, yanking his hands free of Tidus' limbs, and took a step back.
Xeryim dusted off his hands and turned to the rest. "Anyone stupid enough to try something like that again? It's foolish to go up against me, my puppets." He gave another mocking bow, sweeping his hands outward as if giving a curtain call. "My name is Xeryim. Prince of the Heartless."

Tidus winced as his weapon was stopped, and his eyes widden in horror as his arm was being forced beyond its limit and cried out loudly as the sickening crack of his right arm met with almost unbearable pain.
Tidus clutched his arm once he was freed, going to his knees as the limp limb hung uselessly at his side. His body begun to shake with pain, having never been in as much pain since Spira, which was two years ago...his body was not quite use to fighting again.
"Y-You...b*****d!" He hissed, his voice showing just how much pain he was in.

"ROXAS!!"
The ninja watched in horror as her young friend huddled on the floor, his spirit obviously broken. "XERYIM!! YOU F***ING b*****d!!!!!! WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM??" Keeping her shuriken out as a means of self-defense, she rushed over to the boy and gripped him by the shoulders. "Roxas!!! Whatever he said to you is a lie; you know it! Don't let him get to you....Dammit, you're going to scare Namine if you act like this!"
She wanted to drag him over to the gummi ship for safety, but knew in her heart that the act of getting him over there was far more dangerous now with two Heartless in the vicinity than just leaving him here with the others. Instead, she gave him a quick, sisterly hug and a potion, in case there were any unseen physical injuries. "Be good; I'm going to kick these b*****d's asses back to wherever they came from"
Before she even had a chance to get back up, the sickening sound of bones cracking resonated off of the walls of the cavern, much like Xeryim's statement to Roxas had earlier. Just a couple feet away, Xeryim had apparently broken Tidus's arm. Wincing at the horrible sight, Yuffie felt her anger rise. That does it........He is NEVER leaving the Underworld.... Pulling a hi-potion out of her pack, she ran over to Demyx and placed it in his hands. "Get Tidus and Roxas somewhere, along with anyone else who Xeryim might attack. Set Tidus's arm, and then give him the potion so it can mend. Stay there until I'm done, or he'll hurt you."
Without as much as a kiss or good-bye to her lover, she strode over to Xeryim, charging her shuriken with power in the process. "This ends now, Xeryim." Her normally chocolate brown eyes now seemed to be ablaze and her voice had taken a very cold, harsh tone, much like Leon's or Cloud's. "You either take Envy and get out of here......or you'll become a permanent resident of Hades's deepest dungeons. It's your choice."

Underworld - Cavern
What?!
Envy’s eyes widened horrifically as he saw the newcomer appear. He had that same aura… the same one as the others… and even more so, as the King. It was not exactly like the King but there was certainly a similarity between the two. Did that mean this newcomer was on his side? The momentary glares that were shot at Envy certainly didn’t seem to welcoming but one thing was definite: this was another Heartless and one that was more powerful than Envy.
This person took the Keyblade Bearer, Roxas, away for a short while, only to bring him back weeping and completely demoralized. He had broken him in just a short amount of time. What was this person, Xeryim he called himself, up to?
He had interrupted Envy’s orders and had taken charge of the situation that Envy was to take care of. Normally, Envy would have been filled with anger but instead a different feeling was present.
Fear.

Cavern
He snarled at Lenne, crouched down beside Roxas. Witch, trying to undo his hard work. He was tempted to growl at her to leave his puppet alone, but Yuffie had something else in mind. He ignored Tidus’ pained complaint. “I have no parents, thus cannot be a b*****d, pitiful mortal.” He glanced back at Envy, nearly laughing at the borderline panic deep within those eyes.
And then he turned to Yuffie. Sparks flashed in teal eyes, anger rolling from his body in near-tangible waves. He ignored her shuriken, throwing his chain around the back of her neck, grabbing both ends, and tightening it around her windpipe. He spoke, his voice dripping ice and poison.
“Never threaten me again. Ever. Try a stunt like this again, or try to order me what to do, and you won’t walk away, nor will you ever see your pathetic sitarist again. I don’t take kindly to open threats, and when people threaten me, they don’t live. Ever. I will leave, but only because it’s time Envy and I report to the King, not because you want me to do so. Don’t even dare think you gained the upper hand and got your way, because you’re damn lucky I’m leaving instead of standing here and waiting for you to suffocate. There’s a reason I’m called the Prince of the Heartless, and why even Sloth, who tossed your precious Keybearer aside with a puff of breath, stands below my power.” He yanked his chain away, letting the ninja drop from his grasp.
“Don’t even try to touch me again,” he snarled, before grabbing Envy by the lapels as he opened a portal. “Time to go, Four. You’ve spent more than enough time flouncing around and waving white flags like a weakling,” he growled, shoving Envy into the corridor and stepping into it. He cast a final glance at the broken boy on the ground and smirked, meeting Namine’s eyes once before walking through, his portal sealing itself off instantly.

Lenne was no warrior. She never was; that was why summoners needed their guardians, after all.
However, it did not mean that she was a coward; not in the least. Taking the opportunity to help guide Tidus and Roxas away from the direct line of fire, Lenne gently patted Roxas arm, attempting to get his attention.
"Come on," she said softly. "Let's go." It was clear that Roxas was in no state to defend anyone, even after their conversaton earlier, and with Tidus injured... Yuffie had rushed forward, and Lenne wanted to tell her to come back, that the girl was no match for them. However, the summoner-songstress currently had her hands full even as she silently searched for her own array of hi-potions and elixiris.
She was sure she had some back there, hasn't she...?

Yuffie slumped to the floor after Xeryim released her from his grasp, her shuriken falling from her hand and sliding across the floor, losing power as it did so. Her chest still burned from the short period where he had stopped her breathing and her throat was still erupting with sharp pain from where the chain had held her. She could feel her pulse beat loudly in her ears and felt the cavern spin beneath her. For close to five minutes she gasped for breath on the cave floor while the realization of what was happening hit her like bullets.
Everything's spinning out of control so fast.......Why the hell is this happening....? Her thoughts switched to a conversation she had had with Sora, no, Aros earlier. The Keybearer is gone........Riku's gone....Roxas is broken......if I do anything, Demyx or one of my friends will die........what the hell am I supposed to do?? She pounded at the rock with her fist and started to cry. What can any of us do....?
"Guys....." she whispered, her voice still hoarse from the attempted strangling, "Can we go? Please?"

Her eyes widening in shock as Yuffie slumped to the floor, Lenne hurried over, momentarily forgetting about Roxas and Tidus. The way the chain had tightened around the ninja girl's neck, and...
Kneeling at Yuffie's side, and all too aware of the fact that she was crying, Lenne reached out and gingerly patted her back. Being the newest arrival here, the songstress-summoner had no idea of the hopelessness of the situation, and perhaps that fact was the only one that stopped her from breaking down right about now.
She did not know of any Keybearer or the dynamics of this, but she knew despair when she saw it.
"Yuffie," Lenne coaxed gently, removing an elixir and uncapping the bottle, handing it to her. She had always been more of a caregiver than a fighter, and Lenne knew to do her job, especially where there were people who needed her most.

"Yuffie,"
She raised her head, enough to see Lenne kneeling over her and holding out an elixir. "I'm fine.....Give it to someone who's actually seriously hurt." Slowly getting up on her knees, she put her hands up to her neck and felt around. As she expected, there was a ring of extremely-sensitive, most likely bruised skin, and she could feel indentations made from the chain pressing against her throat. Rummaging through her pack, she took out a potion, drank it to heal any internal damage Xeryim might have caused, and handed her bag to the songstress. "Here......it's almost completely full of potions and elixirs. Use what you need to take care of everyone."
After a moment, she got back on her feet and scanned the area for her shuriken. When she found it, she trudged over, picked it up, and hooked it to her belt for easy access. Then, with a heart feeling like it was made of lead, she walked over to Demyx and silently wrapped her arms around the musician, holding him close and resting her head on his shoulder.
"In case something happens to one of us...." she whispered, "I just want to say....I love you. Very much."

Rikku could hear her heart pounding in her ears...everything was happening so fast!
"Tidus!" She screamed, and rushed over to check how he was doing. It looked like he was being attended to, but Rikku was still worried sick.
"Tidus..." she knelt on the ground next to him. "Tell me what I can do to help."

Tidus looked up at Rikku, his expression showing his intense pain that was shocking through his arm. He took a moment to realize her question, then glanced down at his arm, which was beginning to bruse and slight blood where he could only guess a bone much have ripped through.
Looking back at Rikku he finally spoke, his voice having dropped to a whisper from his pain and shock. "I need....to get out of here....I need to get my arm healed." He told her, slowly pushing himself from his sitting postion and stood.
Stumbling a few moments from his own shock of being wounded worse than he was use to, he managed to take his sword into his left hand and looked towards Roxas. "Hey...Roxas...? Let's go. We can...wait for them above." He told him, eyes saddening at seeing the Nobody of the Keybearer sobbing brokenly on the floor. He still wondered what happened to have caused him so much pain...

Underworld - Central Cavern
They were all fighting for him. They were all on his side. They were all trying to help him. There was just something Roxas could not figure out: Why? Xeryim was too powerful to defeat. It was probably impossible.
The boy only fell in a worse state when the Heartless continued to hurt his friends. Roxas was not deaf. The sound of Tidus was heard clearly. He flinched and shut his eyes, trying his best to block out the fighting before him. Why couldn’t they just stop? They were only going to get hurt even more! Roxas kept his eyes closed tightly as he heard Xeryim’s words to Lenne and Yuffie… the words to Envy has he left…
He just wanted it to stop. He wanted to hide… to forget everything. Maybe they could pretend it never happened. But that was also impossible, wasn’t it? Roxas rested his head on his knees which he now hugged tightly to his chest. All tears were spent though his face was hot with the few that lingered behind.
Tidus’ voice was what brought him back to the present. It was what released him from his thoughts.
"Hey...Roxas...? Let's go. We can...wait for them above."
At first Roxas simply stared at Tidus like he spoke another language, contemplating what he said. Why? Why go anywhere? Why bother? But then his eyes flicked down to the arm that now hung limply to his friend’s side and a sinking feeling of guilt swelled up within his chest. It was his fault Tidus was like this. Slowly, Roxas nodded and looked at the ground.
If that was what Tidus wanted, he might as well listen… for his friend’s sake.

Rikku blinked back tears, seeing her close friend in so much pain. As carefully as she could, she helped steady Tidus. She placed one hand on his left bicep and the other on his back, to help steady and guide him.
"Oh Tidus...I'm so worried about you..."
She led him a few steps, trying not to jostle his broken arm too much.
"Just take it easy, I'll get you out of here." She shot Roxas a glance that clearly said that if he tried to help, he would have her double blades to answer to. Stubborn as always, she was determined to keep Tidus safe and to do it with no help.
"This isn't our fight. It's theirs. Let them have it."
