He'd been out of commission for the better part of a day--getting tossed by a dragon will do that to you. He'd landed in one of the heavier treetops, crashing through branches and bonking his head against one of the biggest branches, knocking him out cold as he came to rest about thirty feet up on the outskirts of the now-flooded woods.

Mooo woke to a stinging pain on the side of his head, gritting his teeth as he slowly worked himself to an upright seated position--which was a very, very bad idea. That adjustment got him a loud crack from beneath him, then a sudden sinking feeling as the branches gave way, Mooo tumbling down another ten feet, slamming into another branch with a grunt, then hitting the ground--hard. A foot of water didn't exactly cushion his fall, but the sudden cold and impact combined made him get up a lot faster than he normally would, even if he stumbled to lean against the tree only a moment after.

With one hand pressed against the right side of his head and his other hand cradling his ribs, Mooo staggered off toward the fuel depot--or what was left of it--to see what he could do now.

From atop where the dam once stood, it was said water still poured over.

So did Kalis.

And not for the first time, he would wake up hanging in a tree.

Thankful for the goggles protecting his eyes from water that might have been good or not, and likely other things thta could have poked them, he looked about. After a moment it became apparant that his climb down was easier than before. But the black shape of his hat was not in a tree. He saw something down along the ground, and with a sigh, climbed down to check it.

And, well, there it was. His sword had been driven between a fallen tree and a standing one, and caught on the pommel was his hat.

Both were covered in swamp guck. Icky.

It took a while to clean them satisfactorally enough that he could dump water out of the sword's sheath and put it in, and place the now wet but mostly clean hat atop his head.

He always did seem to end up wet. But, otherwise, things were fine. Oh, and he was utterly lost.

Leaning up against a tree, Kalis checked the area. Around him, he recognized nothing in particular. He couldn't call for assistance, he could draw enemies. And he didn't see anyone- or thing- he knew around.

"I'll go..." he randomly waved a finger around, and finally settled in one direction. "...that way..."

And so, Kalis proceeded alone into the Twilight Wood.

Ahh, swamps, how Quin loathed them. Even travelling through them was s**t, but in all things currently he has to move quickly.

Shou stifled a yawn, right hand hovering near his handgun as they trudged through the all too familiar woods.

A truck rolled in, carrying 20 men. They stopped it near the edge of the woods, unloaded and then headed in.

Not far in. They remained right at the edge, but hidden in the trees.

They would wait for orders.

Kalis was paranoid, alone and far from everyone he knew. Closer to things that would kill him. With guns. He didn't like those things.

He was hiding like he had been in the plains earlier this day. Hiding against objects and creeping slowly, very slowly into the dead woods from the twilight woods. He was moving, but much more concentrated on sneaking than moving rapidly. He stuck to bushes and foilage, and kept his eyes and ears open.

As he crept, he would very breifly open up his cell phone, and leave a message for the other man, Jacknife, to pick up, not bothering to get him on the line. That would be too troublesome, a conversation.

"This is Kalis. I'm in the dead woods, heading back toward the stumps, trying to get to you all quick. Send a few people my way quick if you could, I'm all alone here." he whispered into the phone, and promptly shut it, turning it's ring off to avoid any sound. Didn't know why he hadn't done that back in the plains in fact...

The ambush troops did not see him creeping through the woods and the swamp. As soon as he broke cover, though, and headed into the fields, they would spot him and fall upon him.

Thus was the nature of an ambush.

So Kalis would stop as soon as he could see the stumps, sitting in brush, leaned up against a tree. The last time he had crossed those stumps, he got ambushed. Ambushes weren't fun. And he had no cover of kitties or dirtbike with which to support his running like hell. This could be tough. Now, he knew he had reinforcements coming, so he could wait, instead of opening himself up to whoever might be waiting wherever the heck is was those people in the jeeps had come from before.

He could hardly camoflauge his way across. This made things tough.

He knew there was one thing he could do, but that was risky. And he had a long way to run across the stumps. Not fun. Now, he had placed himself in the part of the dead forest where he had the shortest run to the next forest, but it still was too far.

Very quietly, Kalis gathered resources while he waited, picking up loose peices of log, wood, stump, and tying them together into two camoflauged lumpish 'shields' made of massed and tied together peices cut quietly but hurriedly by knife from any loose bodies of wood. Stumps, fallen logs, large bows, ect. He took the wood with the most integrity of that which he found, and positioned it so it could cover his sides, testing the make shift grips, and how it held together tied. Then he tried cover his back, and his front.

It looked like, for sheilds made of a couple chunks of wood put together, which would only stop a bullet if taken in the thicker parts, half decent. For something made in a few short minutes, tied and made of loose foilage and wood, not bad.

But he feared what came next. There was not much he could do to fight things as far away from him as gunmen.

He waited in silence to run, hidden among bush and tree, just a little longer, pulling his goggles up to cover his eyes for what little protection they offered.

Jacknife burst into the dead woods, weaving between trees as he did He turned to skim along with his left side closest to the outside of the forest. The truck following him would find it's hood popped up and it's engine rather ******** with as Jacknife looked back at it between the trees. He zipped along going full tilt through the woods, after briefly letting down his gaurd for about half a second so he could pop the hood and ******** up the engine Jacknife resumed pusing all incoming objects back and to the right of him. He had quite some head start on the truck.

The truck was fine.

Though Hoozer wouldn't make much of a getaway driving through a swamp.

That's right, a swamp.

This place was still flooded, and the ground was nothing but sinkmud.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 13, 2006 5:56 pm

There was a helluve a lot of commotion through the swamp from back aways. Motor vehicles.

Well, he was dead if he went to the stumps, and if he...

Oh he had a funny idea. He was ******** up already, might as well have some fun and maybe actually survive.

Kalis headed at a quick creep through the forest, darting down toward the sounds, his shields raised over him as he ducked and went to camoflauge him.

Kalis would, running, see the dirt bike pass through the forest far off to the side, and recognize Jacknife. But not the truck in the distance from him that followed behind. So, he pointed a hand at it. And from the hand, a nearly soundless energy came, intensely hot, corrosive, nearly alive, and very destructive. A burst of destructive chaos energy which would fly toward the car, looking to score a hit at the side of the engine exposed to him as they approached him off to a side a good many yards through the trees.

If it caught the side of the engine, it would almost seem to burn a hole through the side, and right into the engine. If not, it'd do the same to whatever it caught of the car, or trees, eating a nasty whole in something, and singe the edges.

Having fired this, Kalis activated the other parts of his chaos, the portion which increased his bodies physical output, and the one which created a layer of energy around his body which would help if something started shooting at him. Not stop bullets, but they'd be deflectes as the approached him, and end up ripping his coat to shreds and leaving nasty bruises and little tears on the surface of his skin. And when he rested from using the chaos, his body would take a nasty toll.

But he thought he might need all this has he ran full tilt the way the truck and dirt bike had come, shields raised.

Jacknife quickly hopped off the dirtbike and jammed the accelerator into drive. He left it stuck in the mud, making tons of noise and spitting up mud like hell from the back tire. Jacknife then crouched down low and quickly got the hell away from the dirtbike. He headed straight through the swamps towards the dam. Confident in the fact that anyone following him would not find him as he was untrackable. He was also confident that by staying low he could easily blend in, as his colors matched that of the swamp. Just to be sure he smeared a little bit of mud on his clothing and face.

((Untrackable, as says his bio yo!))

The hillbillies stole his ride.

They probably put an old lady on a rocker atop it later. Who knows.

Correction. Hill billies stole Kalis' ride.

Which Jacknife had stolen, finding it washed up by the river.

Someone owed him a new bike. Who was quite debatable by this point.

Oh, yeah, and he was gone from the forest.
