I've seen this thread around a long time, now, but I've never had the guts to say anything, but I'm going to finally do so now.
To be entirely honest and blunt, I feel that speaking in a manner that is at odds with the current world or a certain culture [that is to say, using old-fashioned terms, or trying to thee and thou your way through a conversation] is not only pretentious, but absolutely nerve-grating and annoying as hell. It bothers me just as badly as fangirls who shriek "KAWAAAAAAAAAAII" instead of just saying "oh how cute!" like a normal person might.
I know people who try to speak in an "old-fashioned" manner and they always come across as either ignorant, snooty, or entirely full of themselves. None of these are positive things, in my mind.
Using proper grammar is of course something that I feel should be practiced by all people and something that is certainly being lost, so it's not really a "lolita way of speaking". To me, that's about as nit-picky and pretentious as having a "lolita way of defecating". =/

-C'est la lune qui conduit la danse...-
I use proper grammar overall. But trying to sound proper is like, way below my standards.
-...quand le soleil sera couché dans ton âme froide.-

Am I the only one who tries not to talk? Well, unless it would come across as rude, of course.
I'm really, really quiet anyways so no one really notices. But everyone always says I talk fast, and... well, talking fast doesn't really fit my clothes, so I just try not to talk.
It does lead to some embarassing situations, though.... once I got asked if I were a boy. (maybe they thought I was like mana- talking would give away my low voice? I don't think I look like a boy... >_<; wink

Oh, thank you. XD I mean, proper grammar is just normal...unless you want to be laughed at and have people ask if you can speak the language.
Being polite also is something that should come natural to people, but I dunno...lately it's kinda becoming rarer.
And to add on to just not talking or trying not to...that can become annoying or seem rude to some people. There was a girl that wouldn't say a thing trying to copy Mana (which I know you weren't, I'm just adding on ^^") and she'd run across the room just to have some guy talk for her...it was quite irritating. =/ She'd also prance around skipping and stuff...but when everyone left she was like really loud. I mean, loud. rofl

IAWTC x 10 I do not let the way I dress dictate the way I behave nor the way I speak.

Personally I find this thread silly. Speaking Lolita..? :/ I've always been polite, especially around strangers. And while I am quiet and shy, I do have my moments when I'm quite loud, and I do swear. Its just the way I am. I'm a friggin tomboy on the inside. I mean its not like swear words are my own source of vocabulary. I'm just used of saying them. While I do say 'tis'..thats about it. And perhaps 'thou' and 'thee' when joking around with my friends.

I wouldn't change the way I talk just to match my clothes but I like to think that I am much more polite than some other people I know. I certainly don't swear much though.

I totally agree with you smile I dunno, personally, when I talk, I just try to speak proper english rather than saying i talk english i say i speak english. I dunno, but thats how i was taught in school. Thats what I consider good english. Yeah I use slang once in a while like, awsome, uber and R-tard I just think its how you bring yourself into a conversation. I have friends that say golly but seriously, they do seem like the type of person who would say golly (based on their personality). I see nothing wrong with saying old fashion words but if its in that manner, it does seem a bit fake and unflattering to other people. Ha ha ha now im just ranting nonsense XP Anyhoo, I agree with you, thats my point HA HA HA XP

Morbid Outlook I hate when people use tis and thou and shizz like that, it's like you're trying waaaay too hard. I had a friend in highschool that said tis but he was one of those drama kids, who was really good at old english and grew up with it. For some weird reason no one thought it was weird when he said it, i guess it fit his charater(personality). but i know what you mean ^^lll
