"We're playing pirates," replied Nereida, motioning to the various sticks stuck in the sand. "Pick a sword and we'll get going." She looked around again. "Now where'd they leave that log raft?" She murmured to herself, before finally spotting it lying against the dune.
She splashed over and pulled it into the water with a giggle. After climbing on, she paddled over. "Look what I've got!"

"Yeah, the social interaction will be good for her." Ronnie leaned her head back to gaze into the sky. "I'm a parent now... is it supposed to be frightening?" She chuckled to herself, "It's not that scary... I just don't know if I'm fully prepared..."
Pirates? Sticks? Dierdre looked at the driftwood again. Well it wouldn't hurt to play along for now, she really didn't have anything better to do. "Sure, and I'll play with you."
Digging around in the sticks, she found a rather long but skinny stick. About the size of a fencing foil. It was light weight and moved through the air quickly. This would be her sword.
She watched as the blue skinned one brought over a raft. It was not necessarily aesthetically pleasing, but it floated. So it would have to do. "So, in the way of playing pirates, how does it work?"

"Honestly, I don't think anyone is ready to be a parent until they are one. You think you're prepared, and then life throws you a curveball of a child who is little like you expected," Amyla said. She did suppose that others had had stranger children than she, but with five offspring, she did know a bit of parenting. "As for frightening... yeah. I've got five kids, and Kayce is the most recent arrival. I was still worried about getting her, even though I had four before."
Gathering up an armful of rather messy sandballs, Kayce picked up her sword and headed for Nereida's 'boat.' "It's a good thing none of us are very heavy," she observed, eyeing the raft. "At least, none of us look like we're heavy," she amended. The arrival of the new fae made her twitch an ear. Would the crowds of females never end?! "We're pirates. We fight. It is quite easy," she said pointedly, still debating about whether or not she wanted to head onto the 'boat.'

"I know, I'm so overdramatic about all this. I should just let whatever happens happen right?" Ronnie peered over at the other woman. "Geez, five kids? I can't even imagine that..." Of course, now that she's said it, it will probably happen... "I just keep thinking that there will be some crisis that I can't handle..."
She peered down at the sand in puzzlement. "But you know on the bright side, I didn't have to be fat to have Dierdre." Laughing a bit and trying to raise her spirits up more.
"We... fight?" Dierdre thought this over. She had both girls on sheer height but she thought that the brown haired one may know her way around with a stick. Perhaps she could take the blue skinned one. "Sure, and are we fighting each other then?"

Nereida shrugs. "We can fight each other, we can make up demons and fight demons, we can explore the cave... There's a sea monster in there!"

"Ehhh... after about the second one, I figured out that I just had to deal things the best I could. No use fretting ahead of time. Just deal with it as it comes by," Amyla said, stretching lazily. "Ahhhh, five kids isn't so bad. They keep things interesting; that's for sure. And it's worth it."
The final comment made Amyla groan. "Ohhhh, you just wait. You'll want to get pregnant with your own biological child at some point," she chuckled, resting her chin in her hand.
Kayce frowned at the thought. No, she didn't really want to fight the other fae. She only fought for practice or when she had to, not for fun. Fun was not a reason to fight with someone else. "I'd rather fight a made-up demon," she said, not really willing to whack at these nice (so far as she knew) fae. Now, given proper provocation... no, she wouldn't think about that. "Sea monster? Where?" she asked, perking up considerably. A monster she had no qualms about whacking with a stick.

"I can't believe your laid back personality on all this!" Ronnie giggled slightly. "So many kids and you're just 'eh, it's not so bad' and I freak out over one..." But talking to the other woman was beginning to raise her spirits. The sun was shining, the sky was clear, and her child was having fun (or she hoped having fun) playing with the other kids. Life was not so very bad.
"Nooo no no no, I don't want to be fat... ever..." Ronnie burst out laughing at that. "I sound so vain, really I'm not. I just don't think it would suit me!"
Demons? Sea-monsters? Dierdre had never seen any of them before. Perhaps this could be an adventure. As long as it didn't mess up her new swimsuit it would be okay. She hoped that dealing with the sea-monster didn't have to require getting on the rickity raft... that was potentially problematic.
"Well, I'll be saying that the sea-monster and cave need a bit of looking into then." Yes, that way she wouldn't have to risk herself against the other few.

Nereida patted the raft, indicating for them to climb on. "It's safe. The neighbor boys use it for fishing all the time and never have any trouble. And they weigh more than us, I bet." She looked around and pointed towards the row of seaside houses. "The cave is that way. They built the concrete bulkhead around it. This water goes all the way in."

"I'm so laidback because if I got worked up over every little thing, I would have burned out or melted down by now. I still panic over things, but I try to do it as little as possible. It wastes precious energy," Amyla replied, dusting a bit of sand off the corner of her towel. "Awww, come on! Being 'fat' wasn't that bad at all. Granted, it took me months to get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, but it was worth it. You might change your mind later."
Kayce eyed the raft. Being crowded onto a small rickety-looking thing like that with three strange female fae was not really what she wanted to be doing. The idea of battling a sea monster and doing something other than standing around in the sand, however, did greatly appeal to her. Adventure slowly beat away caution until Kayce nodded and gathered up her sandballs and stick, climbing onto the raft and depositing her load aboard.

"Well hopefully with some more time, a bit of you will rub off on me! I could use it." Ronnie cracked open a bottle of water and took a long drag. She wasn't adverse to work, but trying to heap off baby weight gain didn't sound apealing at all. "No no, I'll leave the human baby making factory job to somebody else."
"So what do you think the kids are up to?"
If only Ronnie knew that her little girl was climbing onto a raft to ride off into the wild blue yonder. Well, maybe not the whole wild or yonder part, but it certainly was blue out. The raft wasn't really something she'd liked to travel on, but it was sturdy enough to hold them.
Avoiding Kayce's mudballs, she walked over to one side and stuck her stick into one of the cracks between the logs. "So..." The thought struck her that she had no idea what these girls' names were. "I'd be Dierdre then, and you lot are?" It wasn't exactly elegant, but it got the point across.

Kasumoto had been silent during the exchange but oticing Tomoko's tears, he hugged the little fae to him. " She is scared of the water I think.. poor child.." he said softly. " I think she wants to play with the others but with the water so close..." He then looked over at Ronnie. " Try being a man and dealing with all this... I most certainly feel outnumbered."
Tomoko nodded to the fear of water and her eyes were filled with the conflict of longing to join them but then full of fear of the water. " Wanna....pwaaay...." She said, sniffling.

"I'm Nereida," said the green-skinned Fae, sticking out a webbed hand with the intention of either shaking, helping Dierdre up, or both. "I'll be your captain on this voyage into the unknown." She paused and looked over at the yellow girl, pondering what to do with a pirate afraid of water. "Um... you can be the lookout."

"It'll come with time. It took me five kids to find the proper balance between worry and relaxation. It's still more worry, but you kind of get used to it," Amyla chuckled, squinting in the direction that the fae had disappeared to. "They can't be up to anything too bad. No screams... yet," she added.
She sat up upon seeing Tomoko's tears, giving the little fae a friendly smile. "Ohhh, she's scared of the water? Well... they might not be in the water. Can't really see them from here," she said, glancing again in the direction the other girls had gone.
"Kayce," the dark-haired fae said in reply, giving Dierdre a cautious look. This fae was less friendly than the other two. That made her someone to be careful around. She turned her stick over and over in her hands. This would make a good practice stick. Maybe she could take it home later. That would be interesting.

"I'm sure they're getting along fine by now." Ronnie agreed, hoping that her girl had more manners with other children than she did around the house. Truth be told, Dierdre could be a bit of snot sometimes. Thinking about this gave Ronnie a funny feeling in her stomach so she let it go.
Dierdre eyed Nereida's hand for a moment before deciding to go with it. She slapped her palm into the other girls and shook politely. The webbing felt a bit weird and Dierdre resisted the urge to make an impolite face. "Aye captain, and what shall I be doing aboard this vessel?"

Nereida chewed her lip, thinking. "I hadn't really thought about that." She sas back against the rudder poll in the center of the raft and looked thoughtful. "We're gonna need all the help we can get to fight the monster."
