A debate thats been going on since 03 is whether or not the Tier list is accurate in Smash Bros. Melee. Noobs think its bull, Pro's think it right.
The tier is really just a guide line saying hey, this character has an advantage over this character if both people are of the same skill level. Its not saying this character will always win over that character, but people just don't understand and they keep fighting it.

I agree. The tier list is pointless, let controllers do the talking.

There's no way to test the tier list, as people will never have identical skill levels, different people having different play styles, and finally outside factors.
surprised I deem this debate null and void; However, I do agree that some characters have an advantage to some characters, while having flaws to others. This points that there is a tier list, but the accuracy will always be in question and more so a generalization than anything specific. arrow neutral

Every player has their own way of playing, so everyone has different strengths and weaknesses...for instance, in the Tekken games some people think Jin is brilliant, but I can't make him so squat xp So I don't think you can compile a list like that accurately.

The list was made by what the characters are capable of doing at the frame by frame level. Thats why Fox is first, he's got the fastest short hop, so he's capable of attacking faster than anyone else, plus he has Shine which is the fastest attack in the game, it can cancel any other attack, and it stuns for a long time leaving the opponent open to Fox's endless combos. And top it off with the second strongest up smash in the game.
Jin is a beast too.
