It doesn't require a check, I'd say, since the writing is right in front of you.
The scrap of paper reads:
"say my name to the door
you will see what wasn't before
I stay hidden to all, unusable by most
I hold together this town, my unusual host
I am master of much, slave of few
of those that control me there were only two
my legend is found drifting in air
just to the east of the town square."

I silently repeat the words trying to figure out the riddle but soon give up. I guess its to the east of Town square for me , if I can find that. I leave the building and head to were I think is the center of town.

As you wander, you notice the buildings becoming slightly better with each new city block. By the time you reach the middle of town, you see lavish houses with decorative architecture of expensive materials. The center of the town square is adorned with a large fountain of colored water that sprays up rhythmically in an almost hypnotic pattern. Evidence of the arcane magic that the town is built on. You see Cyanalis hunched on his walking stick near the fountain with Setna beside him.

I slowly walk over to Cyanalis, slightly happy to se a familier face amung all of these strangers. But I keep looking around trying to find clues about the riddle.

You look around at the tops of buildings, but see absolutely nothing that could be considered "floating." In fact, from what you see, the roofs of most of these buildings are completely unadorned, and nothing is levitating as the riddle seems to suggest.

It sounds like arcane magic maybe its talking about two mages that created this town.

Cyanalis turns towards you, looking rather ill, "what on earth are you talking about?" he asks, "Are you speaking in riddles now?......egads! you're injured. How bad is it?" He seems to have forgotten your riddle as he sees your rather nasty gash.

Oh it's not that bad could have been worse if that cloaked figure hadn't appeared. I say as I shake my head a bit. Well I've got some good news but also some bad news. Which do you want first.

Well the bad news is I may have an entire guild wanting to kill me now. To make it worse they all are armed with strange magical weaponry. As for the shadowy figure he seems to be some important guy that they all listen to, he was the one who stopped he guild poeple from killing me. I rub the huge gash on my shoulder. Hey could you heal this for me please.

"It shouldn't be too hard for me to heal you, it doesn't look bad," he says looking at your gash, "This guild doesn't sound like your standard thieves guild....anyways, what about the good news?"
Cy's hand begins to glow faintly white and he runs a long claw over your wound, it instantly seals up and your weakness seems to have gone.

Well the good news is the fact I din't die, but there is also a mix of good and bad news in the lst thing I found out. Pausng for a moment of drama. I found the entrance to the guild but its kind of super hidden and needs some special device or password to unlock it.

"I suspected that there might be mystical roots to this place. Ever since I came in, I felt ill, likely from all the mystical energies floating around here, I can't imagine how you aren't effected...back on topic, are there any clues to what this password or key might be?" Cy asks.

"Well, east would be right over there" says Cy, pointing to one of the lavishly decorated buildings, "I can't see much from here....stay here with Setna, I'll be right back."
Cy runs towards a dark alley and moments later a small sparrow appears flying from it. The sparrow quickly flies up to the top of the building Cy pointed to and flies back down with something held in its beak. After a few moments, Cy comes back out from the alley, holding a scrap of parchment.
"It would seem the people who made this city had a knack for riddles," he says, "I found a flag flying at the top of the building, it carried the same symbol as the standards of this town. Attached to the flag was this scrap of parchment. Here's what it says:
"Your final clue resides with those not here.
In spirit they're far, in flesh they are near.
I rest with the two who controlled me to build the town.
Their reward wasn't fortune, nor was it renown.
Their graves are decrepit and show many years of wear.
Your key is the answer to the riddle they bare.
Sounds like we've got a third riddle to me, what do you think?"
