Mayu laughed a little as she was handed back the stockings. She was wondering when he was going to protest to one of her ideas, and she folded the webbed socks up and placed it back on the shelf.
She wouldn't beg him to wear them, as she had did the maid dress -- they were a bit overkill, anyway. As she ushered Demare to the dressing rooms, a little something hanging from a hook caught her eye, and she snagged it to pay for later.
After the boy was in the room chaning, she walked over to the counter and paid for the little something, taking off the price tag to present as a gift later.
"Oh, would you have to have a..." she asked Edmund, idea suddenly coming to mind. She was cut off by the man, however, as he held up his polaroid camera with a sly smile.
"Camera? Why yes, I do. Come, we'll take him by surprise."
The conversation was interrupted by the chatter of tourists, as a man and a woman stumbled into the store gasping. They were followed by a few others, seeming glad to get out of the torrent of people.

Demare stared at himself in the mirror as he heard the door click closed behind him, looking over the frilly ornament on his head. Why was he doing this...? Why did he want to cheer her up THAT badly? Stepping closer to the wall, he placed a bandaged hand against the reflective surface. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't escape... Clare couldn't tap into Demian's shadow ability without him being awake.
What choice did he have? He didn't want to upset or disappoint her. Besides... It would be between just him and her. Their little secret. That was IT.
Carefully, he reached a hand to the back of his neck after tugging off his scarf, undoing the button before reaching down a little further to pull on the tied string that kept his shirt closed. Sitting down, he loosened the string enough to be able to pull his wings through, then slowly slipped the material up and over his head, letting it drop to the floor. He could see Mordanath's wings twitch slightly as its sight was covered up by the shirt.
It's only to cheer her up, Clare kept telling himself. I'm only doing this to cheer her up.
The halfling inspected the bandages wrapped around his torso for a moment, idly wondering how much longer the burns would be there. Picking up the maid dress, he hesitated before slipping it on, feeling his cheeks burn with blush. He was suprised that his wings fit through the back, figuring the back of the dress must have been low. It would make sense, anyway... French maids were more of an adult costume. Standing up and tying on the little apron, he looked at himself in the mirror as he put on the choker around his neck.
Maybe he shouldn't have done that. This was so humiliating... It was probably a VERY good thing Demian was sleeping. If Mayu told anybody about this, he swore he'd never speak to her again.
...Well, maybe that wasn't true. But he would be very upset with her.
Demare decided that his pants, despite any protests he knew she would probably make, would stay on. The skirt was fairly long due to the outfit being a little bigger than he was, but... this was bad enough. Yes... He would stand his ground somehow. Pants. Stay. ON. Turning around, he placed his hand on the doorknob to open the dressing room door, but, for the life of him, he couldn't bring himself to actually open it.
God... this was so embarressing...

"I wonder if he's done yet..?" Mayu murmured, looking to the dressing room door. The crowd was getting a bit uneasy as well, having been explained the situation to. They were muttering amongst themselves as they crowded around the dressing room area, and the Legend raised a hand to shush them as she shoved through the crowd.
The tourists shut up immediately as the girl raised a hand to knock on the dressing room door, cameras ready at hand.
Mayu took a deep breath and rapped on the door, asking in a loud voice if he was ready to come out. Maybe she shouldn't.. It was a bit mean with all of those people watching.
Oh well, all or nothing.

Just as Demare got enough strength to turn the doorknob, he released it again, frowning slightly. Something wasn't right... Pressing an ear against the door, he listened as he picked up more voices than there had been, the shop sounding a lot busier all of a sudden. One voice seemed to carry too much, and his eyes narrowed at what he heard.
"Is he coming out yet? I haven't got all day," came the voice, sounding like some sort of middle-aged man.
There must have been a crowd outside. Mayu... Mayu told them...
"MAYU!" he cried from behind the door, narrowing his eyes a bit. He felt betrayed... He felt USED. "I'm NOT coming out there!"

Mayu frowned, hand dropping. She looked to the crowd of faces and shook her head, echoing the boy's words.
"He's not coming out."
The tourists grumbled reluctantly -- there was something about seeing a little boy in drag that amused one greatly, and they were rather disappointed that the star of the show would be absent. A few people shuffled out of the crowd, each giving a light punch to the man who had spoken out. The man himself grumbled, slipping out of the growd inconspicuously as to not attract the fists of other angry tourists -- especially the ones wearing rings and other metal jewelry.
As the time ticked by slowly, more and more began to disappear from the crowd, eventually leaving only Mayu waiting at the door.
The Legend sighed, once again raising her hand to knock at the door. She had done something wrong, she could sense that.
"Persistand, aren't we?" Edmund muttered, to which he was promptly given a sharp glare. He sighed, continuing his strides about the shop to restock his wares. Kids these days..
"Clare?" she tried once more, knocking sharply on the door with the last of her energy. She had become tired from standing for so long, and was slumped against an opposing rack listlessly as she tried coaxing the boy into coming out.
"You can come out now, they're gone." She would explain the whole situation when he actually stepped out of the confines of the dressing room.

Demare was reluctant, having sat himself against the door, having locked it a while ago, one hand firmly on the doorknob so no one could try to force it open. Were they really gone, or was she trying to trick him again?
After a few moments longer, the halfling unlocked the door and stood himself up, cautiously pushing the door open ajar so he could peer outside. Indeed, the crowd was gone, and Mayu was now alone. He still didn't want to leave the dressing room, however, as he released the grip he had on the poor handle, letting the door stay ajar as he moved to sit down on the bench inside the room.
"I'm... still not coming out," he finally sighed, hanging his head a little bit as he stared down toward his feet. "But... you can come in if you'd like. I'm sorry I yelled at you."

"That's fine," Mayu said, nodding to the boy from her spot upon the floor. She wasn't quite sure if he coud see her from the crack in the door, but she had gotten quite comfortable in her seat and was a bit reluctant to move, even at the invitation to go in. However, she gathered her strength and made way towards the door. It was rude to decline an invitation, and especially if one was to apologize for some misdeed they had done.
Once she had made her way in, she shut the door behind her and took a seat by Demare. He had apologized for yelling, so he probably wasn't that mad. However, an explaination was indeed necessary.
"Okay, you probably want an explaination, right? So here's the deal--" She paused mid-speech, lifting a brow. Standing up, she took a few steps back and looked the boy head-to-toe, then nodded.
"You still have the dress on? Guess you must really love it, huh?"
She grinned, then sat back down. "Kidding aside, it looks pretty cute on you!"
He would, hopefully, take that statement as a compliment and not a critique.

The boy could feel his cheeks burn with blush again as he stiffened, turning his head so he couldn't look at her.
"N-n-no! It's not like that!" he stammered, trying to defend himself. Hanging his head a little bit, he looked down toward his feet. Demare calmed down a little bit, but the blush remained. "It's just... You said you wanted to see it..."
After all, he did this for her. The only reason he'd gotten mad in the first place was because of the sudden crowd, and he couldn't take it anymore. This was supposed to only be between him and her. No one else...
"And..." he continued, turning his eyes toward the ceiling as he slipped the frilly headpiece off of his head, "I need your help... getting my shirt back on... I can't tie it by myself. I would have taken this off a long time ago, but I didn't want to sit in here half naked."

Mayu blushed as she listened to his defense, raising a hand to tug at her bunny hat idly. He had.. kept the frilly thing on for her. Had he not realized that the costume party, everything, was all a lie?
"You really are too nice to me.." she muttered, looking over to Demare with a smile. Nodding at his request for help, she walked over to the spot where the shirt was discarded and picked it up.
"You figure out a way to get that dress off, first."

Demare didn't have a problem with that. After all, getting the dress off wouldn't be that hard... Taking off the choker from around his neck first, he placed it on the bench as he stood up, turning his back to the tree girl as he undid the horribly tied bow of the apron and slipped off the frilly white cloth. This wouldn't be any different from his shirt, he figured, gasping the black material with his bandaged hands. The halfling seemed to hesitate for a moment, remembering that Mayu was standing behind him, his cheeks still burning with blush.
He'd never exactly... undressed with anyone else in the room before. A part of him was selfconscious, being a little embarressed over the grey tone in his flesh, but right now things were particularly bad because of the wraps around his torso, hiding the healing burns from that fight. Slowly, the child continued, however, hoping the girl wouldn't ask. He carefully, cautiously, slipped the black dress up and over his head, stretching his arms back as far as he could to try and make sure his wings were free before releasing it, allowing the clothing to fall to the floor. Dropping his right arm back to his side, he held out his left hand toward Mayu.
"M-my... shirt, please..." he said a bit softly, unable to turn his eyes to her. His face was completely red with blush now.

Mayu watched this with a sort of fascination, blushing a bright red as Demare slipped the dress over his head. He was... shirtless. And... they were alone...
She felt a bit dizzy. Holding a hand to the wall to catch herself if necessary, she looked down to the shirt in her hand and back up to demare.
"Oh yes, your shirt!" she said, face turning a brighter shade of red. Walking over, she handed over the article of clothing, all while looking down at the ground. Boring a hole into it, really. Kimiko would kill them both if she found out that they had been in a dressing room together, and him with no shirt on... She could hear her guardian screaming from inside the house during the kiss, after all.
Mayu paused, however, as she noticed the bandages wrapped around the boy's chest. Touching them gently with one hand, she turned so she could see his face and looked up to meet his eyes.
"What happened to you?" she asked, an added tone of worry to her voice. Why hadn't he told her about this? Was it for the same reason that she had not told him about her fast?

As he was handed his shirt, he was about to thank her, but stopped as she met his eyes and asked him what had happened, feeling her warm fingers over the wraps around his cooled skin. He turned his head to the left, still wearing the bandage over his right cheek from earlier, not liking the worried tone in her voice. That wasn't her... That just didn't suit Mayu.
"I told you... I got in a fight..." he said a bit simply, sighing lightly as his wings drooped downward a little bit. After a moment, Demare looked back to the girl, gently taking her hand into his own and bringing it to his lips. After planting a soft kiss on the back of her fingers, he apologized, "I'm sorry... I didn't want to worry you."

"Now you see why I didn't tell you about my not eating on IM last night," she said, offering a small smile. "I didn't want to make you worry, either."
She reached up to pat his cheek gently, and smiled. "Just take care of yourself okay? Try not to get into any more fights," she said, then looked to the shirt in his hands.
"Okay, now get your shirt back on and show me where you need help tying it." Her hand dropped to her pocket, and she patted it to make sure that the trinket was still there.
"I've got something special to give you after this."

Demare nodded, slipping his shirt over his head, carefully getting his wings through the holes in the back. Getting it on wasn't diffcult. Getting it tied was hard for him. Turning around, making sure he didn't smack her with his wings, he reached a hand to his back, trying to take hold of the strings.
"There's two strings," he said, managing to grab one of them. "Just need to pull them tight and tie 'em up."

Mayu nodded, though Demare obviously couldn't see it, and complied to his request. Pulling the strings as tightly as she could, she tied them together quickly as to not allow them room to become loose once more.
"Done!" she said, with a clap. Walking over to the door, she opened it with a fluid motion and waited for the boy to step through. She then went back, picking up the dress, choker, and frill that had been discarded upon the floor moments before.
Handing them to Edmund as she walked out of the small room, she chuckled lightly and shrugged, as if to say, "maybe next time".Edmund returned with a nod, and stepped off to hang the clothes back up in their proper places. When she and Demare were both outside, she reached into her pocket and pulled out the gift she had been saving. It was a shell necklace in the shape of a crude flower, pink-tipped at the edges with a blue jewel laid in the center. Standing on tip-toes, she slipped the necklace over his head and smiled, standing back to get a better look.
"That's for putting up with the whole dress fiasco. What do you think?" she asked, with a hopeful smile. "Be honest."
