Gyre's doing wonderfully. She's grown more and more social since she learned to dance. I've also done some research into dance classes for her, seeing as she has such a passion for it. She's always messing with the radio i my bedroom and dancing in front of a full-standing mirror I recently purchased from a garage sale in Durem. I've tried to make her dresses, but to no avail. I'm no seamstress...

...However, I did manage to get a hold of a ballerina Halloween costume for her when she gets a little older. It's white, with the frilliest tutu I've ever seen. It's darling! I've shown it to Gyre in the package, and she seems determined to dance well enough to wear it. I think she dances very well already! She hasn't fallen much, but still being a baby, I'm sure it's hard.

Note to self - Get more CD's.

I've bought Gyre her own radio now. Just for her in her room. Since she adores music and dancing, I figured, why not? I did tell her, though, to be careful what she listens to. There's a lot of subliminal messages in songs and stuff, and I don't want her listening to anything bad. Since we share a room, I'll be able to hear what she listens to most of the time. But she's grown and matured so much that I don't think I need to worry too much anymore. She'll be getting her own room soon, too.

The only problem with the new radio is that she likes the beat of rap music. Rap music sometimes has bad lyrics in it, but when Gyre practices keeping time with that music, I can tell she doesn't pay attention to the words. It's so facinating to see someone so young have such a drive for anything. Dancing seems to be her world.

Journal,

It was wonderful to meet another Guardian and another Legend! Gyre, I think, liked the little pirate boy, Levi, though I think she may have the impression that he isn't as...thoughtful...as she thinks one should be. But meeting Aki was great! She's an elf, and she's really nice. She gave Gyre a journal of her own to write it!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Gyre's been very excited, and I let her borrow one of my plastic, dry-ink pends so she can write down her thoughts. She's been practicing in those ABC book swith think, dotted lines for penmanship. She's really quite good! It's legible, which was more than I had expected! I'm very proud.

I went into town today and bought a ballerina poster for Gyre for her new room. When she gets older, she'll be moving into her own bedroom. The poster is of the ballerina that plays Odette in Swan Lake, Gyre's favorite ballet. I've wrapped it up as a present for her when she grows older. I think she'll be so excited.

It makes me so happy.

(( Cross-posted from Feien diary, as it does affect Gyre. ))

"Lu, I do believe you're disturbing the young thing." Neruo asserted, sitting crosslegged on the coffeetable. His Bond lay on the couch in front of him, arm and hair dripping off the plush surface. Her gray eyes were unfocused, clouded. Her teeh gnashed, all but chewing the couch cushion to shreds. Things bothered her right now.

"I don't think he really cares who or how much I eat. Or the fact that my diet is different than most." she said flatly.

"She is correct." Demetrius tossed back quietly. The yellow Feien sat in front of his computer, like always. He'd become a fixture in front of the screen, writing and learning much more, and much faster, than any book could provide.

Neruo stared at him, slightly worried, as any older brother would be. He could never have imagined a more...introverted Feien would emerge from the bloom as he did. And now Lu stopped caring about the feelings of her young charge. This was a higly unusual occurance.

He had to break the silence, though. "Lu, whatever happened to that blood brother you were talking about?" Curious to know that she had mentioned him once, but he never arrived. Perhaps it was all a joke?

"He's here. He just hasn't given me the time of day." Again, very flat. Blunt.

The orange Feien blinked. She'd never seemed so negative before. She probably ate someone who disagreed with her. Someone with a high anger content? Nevertheless, Neruo strived to make the household seem warmer than it was. Demetrius' typing never ceased throughout the conversation. Neruo shook his head and flew to the younger fairy, looking over his shoulder. He raised a finger.

"I'm researching Mancubi." Demetrius explained before Neruo had a chance to even ask. The Heat fairy wondered sometimes how people could do things like that.

"Bloodkin aren't listed, and very little information is out on the Web to find." Demetrius almost seemed...disappointed. Neruo also noticed many saved documents on the desktop. His little yellow friend had been busy! It was good to see something creative come of all this silence. He'd have to sneak on to read some of it one day.

Neruo turned about to fly back to his position on the coffeetable when his Bond bolted upright, teeth shining in the afternoon sun. She pulled back her lips and sniffed at the air loudly. Something was coming. More curious than frightened or worried, Neruo stayed where he was. Demetrius looked over his shoulder. Anything loud disturbed his work.

Just then, the front door burst open. Heavy steps racked the hardwood floors. Luciel's horned head poked over the couch. A tall, slightly tanned man of twenty years stood above her. His short, choppy blond hair shielded his eyes, which Neruo could see were a dark crimson. A black scorpion's tail twitched impatiently behind the man.

"Lu, your big brother is here."

And he didn't sound friendly.

Now she intended to fulfill her promise to herself. She wanted, nay, needed to know why that bad man was here. He took to terrorizing everyone, and it needed to stop. Gyre would claw, bite and scratch if she needed to. And she fully intended to. Carrying the falcon mask alongside her, she stepped into the kitchen again. Staring down into the family room, her eyes went wide.

Serath wasn't there anymore.

But she could've sworn he was there just a second ago! Quickly wandering into the family room, Gyre scanned it visually. Nothing seemed out of place. Nothing missing or destroyed. Maybe he was just a grumpy man. Momma obviously liked him enough to let him into her home with her children and other companions. And Hikaru didn't seem to worried about him, either. Maybe she was just overreacting. Sitting down next to the ornate chest which held Luciel's decorative spear Heartrender, Gyre laid her weight against it, sighing.

Something was wrong, though. She could feel it. Literally. The ornate chest moved beneath her weight, which was absurd, being as heavy as Heartrender was. She didn't know for sure how heavy it was, since she had only seen the weapon, and never held it. Lu showed it to he on numerous occasions. Gyre only asked to see it because it was covered in shiny metal and jewels. It looked heavy, even for Lu. The shifting of the chest made Gyre extremely curious. Though she was told she was never to open the chest, this was an emergency. Opening it up, she peered inside.

Completely empty.

Gyre's mind quickly formulated a conclusion. Serath had taken the spear. He had to, as Lu never let it leave the family room. Ever. She even told Gyre specifically that it was an heirloom and that she had never used it, nor did she ever want to. And why else would Serath spend so much time in here?

Gyre's mind was made up. Donning the falcon mask once more over the side of her head, she made her way back to the hallway. Down to the room Serath was given to stay for his visit.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 07, 2005 10:37 am

The door to Serath's room was open, as usual. The male Mancubusardly ever stayed in the confines of this room. Gyre never knew exactly why. But now that she thought about it, Serath usually trailed Momma wherever she went. Except when she went to the "special fairy ring". Gyre didn't know much about that, except that Momma is also caring for a fairy girl on the other side.

Serath's room was clean and fresh, always very, very white. Too clean. Clean to point of creepy. But Serath himself was too creepy for his own good anyway. Gyre made it a point to leave this room as soon as possible. She had to know if he had hidden Heartrender in his room somewhere. But why would he take it?

Snooping around for what seemed like hours underneath bedlinens, in drawers and even Serath's personal belongings. But no spear. Strange. She thought for sure he would have hidden it in his room somewhere. But the spear was at least four feet long...

The closet!

Listening to the house for the sound of footsteps, Gyre walked to the white wooden doors of the closet. Gulping down her slight sense of fear, which her mask told her was instinctual, she wrapped her tiny hands around the doornobs.

Then she heard it. An ear-piercing scream.

"KYYYYYYYYYAHHHHHH!

"MOMMY?!"

The scream then quickly turned into a fierce, raging shriek. Grye immediately stopped what she was doing and raced down the hallway, towards the direction of the scream. She knew it had to have been Mommy, even though Lu had never screamed in Gyre's lifetime. Instinct again.

Her heart was racing...

Gyre's tiny legs carried her to the middle of the front yard, through the door left wide open. The door was opened so fiercely that the doorknob left a hole in the wall. Its wooden frame was filled with deep claw markings as well. Gyre rushed outside to see Serath attacking her Guardian. With Heartrender.

"What are you doing, Serath?!" shrieked Lu again as she dodged another volley of attempted stabbings by her Blood Brother. Serath's voice was filled with rage, eyes wide and as deep red as ever. He was taller than her, and outweighed her by a good 40 pounds, but Luciel had speed on her side. Hunching down to all fours, she growled, waiting for her "brother's" reply.

He gritted his teeth, staring at his Sister. Gyre stood in the doorway, shocked. The Feien had heard the fighting, too, and had come to the windowsill. Neruo's jaw dropped and Demetrius had shown emotion for the first time. They were both truely fearful for their bond.

Demetrius cried out. "Kick his a**, Lu!" Neruo merely blinked at his younger brother. Then, smiling, he echoed the sentiment.

Serath let loose a wail similar in sound to Lu's. "She won't be kicking my a**. Believe me." Waving Heartrender about as if it were merely a wooden stick, he pointed to Luciel. "I've only bonded myself to you for one reason - to kill you. Why are you so happy? You were abandoned, just like me! We ALL were abandoned! Just because we came out as a species less than desirable! Why are you still happy, despite the fact that we are hated like a disease?!"

Lu sighed and stood, teeth and fists still at the ready. "Why am I happy? Because I don't DWELL on such things, Serath! Yes, I know the pain for being abandoned. The only thing I have from my mother is Heartrender, which you've stolen from me. I surrounded myself with those I care about, and I live day to day with as much pride and energy as I can. I know we don't have children, so I've taken to adopting. I have fun, I play games, I have friends. You, though... You're just consumed by jealousy and hatred!"

"LIES! You know something! You know something that allows you to live like a human while I cannot! What is that secret?!"

The female Mancubus rolled her eyes, a hand on one hip. "The secret? Just GET OVER IT."

Enraged, Serath planted Heartrender firmly into the earth in front of him. Clasping his hands, chanting, wisps of color began to circle the spear. Lucius, the owl child who went missing for a few days after Serath's arrival, returned. He crawled to the front from the backyard. Gyre spotted him and quickly went to pick him up. She carried her little brother to the stoop, where she stood. They hoped they were safe. The Feien flew to their side, keeping watch over the little ones.

"What's going on? What are those lights?" Neruo asked to no one in particular. Demetrius shook his head, as did Gyre. Lucius, however, tried to explain.

"Hoo! Hoo!" he chirped. Of course, being unable to speak with the living, he could do no more. He knew the wisps were the souls of the angry and innocent Serath had devoured, and he could channel them somehow. It must've been some sort of black magic. But none of them knew what exactly it could do.

The wisps swirled tighter, faster, higher, as Luciel watched on in awe. Serath finally stopped chanting, bringing his clasped fists down hard. "Fine. If you wish to use such a tone with the only other one of your species willing to bond to you, then... I hereby call upon the souls of the devoured! I curse you, Luciel of Durem, to pain and torture for denying me of my happiness!!!"

Luciel gasped, falling back as the souls rushed forth over her like a wave of pain. Shrieking and writhing on the ground, the souls made their way, wailing, into her skin. They landed in three places - the back of her neck and the backs of her thighs. There, they burned rune-like symbols into her skin.

"AHHhhhh..." she moaned, looking up through tearing gray eyes to Serathm who stood above her.

"Love ya, dear Sister." he breathed, walking away towards the forest. The runes seethed, causig tremendous pain. Her children ran towards her as all went black.

Gyre sniffed back tears, watching her Guardian sleep on the sofa. Hikaruwas the only one strong and large enough to carry her inside. The three runes on her person pulsed a deep, bloody red. The Mancubus wrthed in pain, crying out on occassion. The whole house was worried.

Demetrius was busy researching the runes themselves, cross-referencing them with any known black magic curses. Thus far, he'd found nothing.

Later that day, Luciel finally fully awoke. Gyre was sitting in the large chair by the couch, writing in her journal. She looked up, seeing her Guardian smile at her.

"Gyre... How are you? Everyone is...alright?" she asked quietly.

Gyre nodded emphatically. "Yes, Momma. Everybody's fine! But you have weird letters on your back and they hurt, don't they?" Gyre's wings flapped, nervous and concerned.

Lu was so proud of her in that moment, so mature and caring. Smiling, she lay back down. "Yes, the letters hurt. But I'm so glad Serath didn't hurt any...of you..." And she lay back down to sleep.

Cyrus, as usual, went through a rather long ritual of checking the address he'd written down with the one listed on the house, carefully balancing Zita in one arm. Sure they matched now, but he might've read it wrong! At least this time he decided he was right before Zita took it upon herself to kick/bite/otherwise show her displeasure with waiting so long. He rang the bell and, for good measure, knocked soundly on the door.

He'd gotten the address from a list of what seemed to be other Legend parents - did that make him a parent? - from the headquarters. Very convenient, really. And it was probably better to talk to someone one on one instead of trying to get information from a group. The adults from the other night had seemed distracted. ...and unpleasant - but they couldn't all be like Miss Puchiko, could they?

...he hoped the jell-o baby would be alright with her.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 07, 2005 3:06 pm

Luciel blinked from the sofa, hearing knocking at the door. Gyre hopped down immediately to get to door for her Guardian, but Luciel extrended an arm, catching the little Legend before she could make it.

"I'm alright, sweetie. I took a nap. I'll get the door." Gyre unwillingly sat down, watching carefully as Lu walked slowly to the door. Opening it up, and trying her best not to look like she'd just been the victim of a brutal assault, she smiled and greeted the new guests.

"Oh! Hello there! You have such a cutie with you..." she couldn't help but want to poke the dark baby's cheeks. But that might not be good. Stepping aside to let them in, Lu introduced herself.

"My name is Luciel, but you can call me Lu. And that lovely lady over there," she said, motioning to the girl sitting on the chair, "is Gyre. I assume you're a Legend caretaker too? I'm sorry but... I seem to have forgotten your name..."

Cyrus blinked at the warm welcome, a bit startled. Maybe she was used to people showing up at random? He remembered Jiora saying it was common among the Fa'e - the same might be true with this group.

He gave a bit of a sheepish, but polite, nod as he ducked inside. "Nice to meet you, ma'am," he murmued, shifting Zita so she wasn't balanced so precariously. "Um. I guess I am... I've only been to the headquarters once though, and I don't think you were there then.. My name's Cyrus, and this," he paused to hold the infant up a bit more, "is Zita. I.. I'm really kinda new to all of this."

Zita squirmed a bit, clearly not pleased with being moved around so much. She kept quiet, thankfully, and instead shot childish glares at anything that moved, paying special attention to her own guardian.
