Wanna know the real irony?
I don't get to see it if I win.
I have a habit of giving my word when it's not requested.
So... you... shouldn't win? surprised ?

If it comes down to it, I will bid absolutely everything I own and can get my hands on.

I'll bid:

March 2005 letter [Kiki/Robo] (x2)

May 2005 letter [Angelic/Demonic Guitars] (x2)

June 2005 letter [Dino thingy/Phoenix Circlet] (x4)

[Edit: I'm not familiar with prices and letters and stuff. I looked it up, but I could easily be mistaken with either the contents of the letters or their approximate values. I don't mean to pull anything, so please correct me if you see a mistake.]

gonk heart Why did you not say that in the first place?!

You have the items right Grayed, and from what I can estimate, the Kiki is at least 40kish, the guitars should be around 30kish and the phoenix is almost 10kish.

This is my new total bid.

And 6839 gold

I should add that this is a matter of personal honour
That comes, conservatively, to 242k

My personal honour is at stake, there is a short and uninterestnig sotry as to how my personal honour became involved in something as trivial as Gaia which I'd (in order to save face) really not get into.
I didn't realise I was beating her so I pulled out all the stops.
Losing honour to something as trivial as Gaia would be a rather large black mark on my honour and, in short, if anyone found out I'd never live it down.

Tell me why you need to win this so much and I'll drop it. Otherwise, it is possible for me to outbid you.

But someone coming in and saying "I have to win it to keep my word which I gave without being asked as a matter of personal honor on a chatsite" and then keeping said word a big secret kind of kills the fun of an auction like this. People shouldn't pull so many real-life issues in. It makes everyone else yield to you on the premise of tip-toeing around hurting your feelings.

In short, drama. Not appreciated, sir.

I was explaining why I over-bid.

I explained the extent of the word given, I am neither obliged to explain it nor does your being able to outbid me have any effect on my honour.

I was doing everything within my power, which was the wording of said word. Have I done everything within my power, I think so..... I've asked for help, received it, bid the shirt on my back, so to speak.

I can add the fox ears, tail and mask and I have a few letters that I can add. I can pull a few more strings, but I am satisfied that the honour of the matter is satisfied.

I was explaining why I overbid when winning, not because I was being dramatic but because I thought it was amusing.

And, incidentally, that is the sum total of what I have. Not the sum total of what I have access to so if you'd like to contribute further to Tea's cause (Tea, a friend of mine, who I could easily just be auction rummaging for) feel free.

In short, I think it was you who was adding the drama, not I.

Alright...
This has become a devisive point.
Grayed, Reagun is not being dramatic, he is being a little cryptic, but that is because he is exercising his privacy in the matter, the nature of the point of honour is very private... I know this all sounds very cloak and dagger, but...
The reason waking world issues are brought into this is that the item of the auction is a waking world item. Also, it is important to bear in mind that Ireland is a different nation, with different cultural points than the U.S.
In the intrest of tranquility, and let's be serious now loves, this is an auction for a picture of my tubby self in (my favourite) mildly amusing boxers. A picture, not even a physical one, a bit of electrons and 0s and 1s. Tis not worth the conflict. There is no reason to become hostile over it, no reason for the spirit of the auction to turn sour. Misunderstandings have occurred, this is to be expected, but please, don't let them blossom into discord, rather, mend ways, and come to a tranquil understanding.
I hold both of you in high esteem, and hate to see my friends quarrel over something related to me. crying

Understood dear heart.
Apologies for losing my temper.
That apology is targeted at the thread in general, not Fiddler

Reagun, having read your post above, I still disagree with you. Even so, I prefer to withdraw.
Only to clarify, mentioning that I could possibly outbid you wasn't a threat. Several bid raises and continually announcing that your personal honor was somehow connected to this auction tended to show that you were very interested in winning; and if not that, you'd at least invested a lot of emotion into this. I asked you to explain because if you wanted to win it that badly, I didn't want it. Don't worry, your intentions have since been revealed.

Fiddler, what you're wearing in the picture has nothing to do with it, in my opinion. While we could say that this is a (non-tangible) waking world item, it is also as you have said--several electrons--and you were very detailed in announcing that you're completely comfortable seeing it auctioned off for pixellated value on the internet. And since the proceeds go toward another pixellated item, one might also be safe in expecting it no longer to be treated as a waking world item. That is why I reacted disfavorably to what I percieved as waking world issues being brought in.

At the same time, I won't be such a fool as to exclaim that there's no way I misunderstood.

I hope I didn't rain on anyone's parade without reason. Feel free to dismiss me if my posts took the fun out of this auction for you.

I'd like to add that being the first to make a post of this nature in-thread has been my own petty misstep.

Well, so long as peace is maintained, and everyone is at an understanding I am happy.
