Demare crouched down a little bit, not wanting to scare the two away. His bi-colored eyes peered at them curiously through a small bush, wondering what they would do.

Mayu peered at the deer, and it peered back at her. The doe, after surveying the two, decided that they were of no harm and nodded for the fawn to approach as well. Peering at Mayu's branches, the small fawn tilted its head up and chewed on one of the blossoms curiously.

The silver-haired girl laughed, though keeping her volume low as to not startle the deer.

Demare couldn't help but laugh a little bit, trying to keep quiet so he wouldn't scare the deer away. He found it kind of funny that the fawn was trying to eat Mayu's branches, even though technically... it was eating his friend.

"I think you've made a new friend," he teased, grinning cheerfully. "It seems that you're really good with animals."

That made him realize something. Demare didn't know anything about Mayu... He only knew that she appeared to be some sort of cherry tree.

"Hey... You don't think that's some sort of power, do you?" While it was meant to be a joke, he was really only half joking.

After determining that the girl's flowers were quite inedible, the fawn retreated and peered at the two children with large brown eyes.

Mayu laughed and gave the fawn a light pat on the head, then exclaiming, "I guess magic flowers must only look good, huh?"

"Hm..." The Legend pondered for a bit, actually thinking over Demare's question. "It could be, I suppose." She was unsure of her own powers, and had, literally, the magical ability of a tree stump at the moment.

An explosion came from behind, causing the deer to run off. A few raucous kids were playing with noisemakers -- big ones, too -- and were waving them about, trying to startle the little children and the wildlife about the park.

"Oh..." Mayu muttered, a bit sad at the deers' leaving. She waved to the spot where they had disappeared to and pouted.

Demare turned his head in the direction of the sound, narrowing his bi-colored eyes at the group of kids making the noise. That was rather rude, and he felt bad for the deer. If only he could tap into Demian's powers... He'd give those kids something to be scared of.

He frowned as he looked back to Mayu, noticing her pouting. Perhaps... there would be other animals at the tree? He remembered birds hanging around there, and once or twice he'd seen a rabbit or two wandering about. Not quite as fascinating as the deer, but it was worth a shot to cheer her up.

"Hey, there's something I want to show you," he said, giving her a warm smile as he stood up. Demare held a hand out to her to help her stand. "I think you might like it."

"Alright, thanks." Mayu said, taking Demare's hand. "Lead the way!" She was still quite upset about the deers' disappearance, and was a bit startled by the loud pops herself. However, she wondered where demare would take her; the park seemed interesting enough, and she wanted to see what was lying deeper into the woods.

Keeping hold of her hand, he began to step quickly in the direction of the tree he liked to go to, that particular place being one of his "safe" zones... Much like the lake was for Demian. It wasn't that far away, only being about a five minute walk, but Demare stopped as he noticed something while they were getting close.

A small, pink petal began to float past them, followed by a couple of others exactly like it. Cherry blossoms...? But... the tree was supposed to be "dead". The blossoms had fallen already... hadn't they?

Releasing Mayu's hand, the halfling began to run toward the clearing up ahead, curious as to what was going on. As he approached the area, he stopped once again, his eyes growing wide with surprise.

"Whoa..." he said in a hushed voice, not understanding it at all. The large tree was, somehow, in complete bloom. Small, pink blossoms heavily decorated the spidery branches of the tree, petals gracefully drifting in the breeze. The surrounding area almost seemed to glow in the sunlight that poured down from above, illuminating the flowers in such a way that one could only stare in awe at the sight.

Mayu gasped upon seeing the tree in bloom, letting go of Demare's hand and reaching up to catch a falling blossom. She loves cherry trees the most of all, and especially in full bloom! There, she got one.

Taking the blossom she had captured, the girl placed it delicately on Demare's head, moving it around until she deemed him pretty. She herself had had enough blossoms, so why not share the pink? Giving a small snort, she turned back to the tree and gaped in wonder.

Demare noticed a bit too late as the blossom was placed on his head, his cheeks flushing a bright pink. It was a very good thing Demian was still asleep... He'd probably try to commit murder if he knew about the blossom.

"I... I don't understand..." he said quietly, watching Mayu with a bit of a worried look. A part of him didn't want her to hear him. "They were gone... The flowers were gone when I came here the other day."

He shook his head a little bit, careful of the flower on his head. They felt real... They LOOKED real... Maybe he was wrong last time. Maybe he'd gone to a different tree...? The child began to step closer to the tree itself, feeling a little uneasy of the surroundings. Something felt different, but he couldn't place what it was.

"Maybe they grew back!" Mayu exclaimed, though she herself knew it was highly unlikely. She caught a few more blossoms in her hands, holding them up. They were... real, weren't they?

Mayu followed Demare closer and closer to the tree, standing up on tiptoes to examine the flowers still attatched to the low-lying branches. The pink blossoms were real, alright. That, or they were both hallucinating, and it was a very good illusion.

Just a few meters away, glinting eyes peered out from behind a shrub.

Demare's eyes began to feel heavy as he stepped closer to the tree, his body growing weak. Something was very wrong... He'd never felt like this coming to the tree before, and it was as if something were intentionally weighing him down. Reaching the trunk, he rested a hand against the tree, turning his bi-colored eyes toward the sky. Everything was getting blurry...

Turning around, he leaned his back against the trunk and allowed his body to slip down into a sit, unable to stand anymore. Had he been poisoned...? Was his mind playing tricks on him?

"Something isn't right..." he whispered, not noticing the dark figure high in the treetops. "None of this is right... Mayu? Can you feel it too?"

Mayu yawned drowsily, she was feeling... sleepy. She approached the tree lethargically and sat down beside Demare. She looked over and nodded, then allowed her drooping head to sink down. Resting her head on Demare's shoulder, she fought the urge to fall asleep.

"Why am I so sleepy all of a sudden?" she asked, yawning again.

Demare still managed to blush a little bit, lifting a heavy arm to carefully rest around Mayu's shoulder before his white eye closed.

"I... I won't let anything happen to you, Mayu," he said quietly, a bit protectively.

"That's it..." came the hushed voice from the trees. "Go to sleep, little ones..."

Finally giving in, the halfling fell asleep, his head hanging low as his right eye slipped closed.

Mayu drifted off to sleep as well, after another loud yawn. She snored lightly as she napped, and the cherry blossoms hanging onto her own branches dropped down and closed.

The figure rose from her crouched position behind the small shrubbery, stretching for a moment. Walking over to the sleeping kids, she hissed in a hushed tone, "Finally, they're asleep!"
