Has anyone seen part of the new mini series on t.v ...It may be only in Canada but I don't know....It's called Revelations and so far it's really into the paranormal and occult stuff. The first two episodes have sent shivers down my spine. I like it...alot.I think theres only six episodes but .... has anyone else seen it and what do you think?

Yep we've watched it here. I"m a sucker for religious suspense. Apparently it's slated for 6 shows, but if it goes over well it will be made longer. I don't understand how they can do that tho. I'm loving it tho...especially since they cancelled Point Pleasant (devil's daughter in small town bringing on the apocolypse)

On a sad note...no drive in for us this week. Can you believe it was 80 degrees (F) here Tuesday and today there's snow on the ground *rolls eyes* gotta love it. So it's movie rentals for us tonight since Desperate Housewives isn't new.

Same here. I had to find my scraper again so I could get the snow off my car this morning. Now it's supposed to be in the 50's today so all snow will be gone and turn to rain. I'm never going to get the grass cut at this rate.

So we rented "Birth" the other night (with Nicole Kidman) and i have to say i was terribly disappointed in it. I liked the ending a bit and the story was okay, but the way it was directed, it was almost like a 30 minute Twilight Zone stretched out into 90 minutes. I kid you not, there's one scene where they focus on Nicole Kidman's face for about 5 minutes straigh while she's sitting in a theatre. I assume you are supposed to see what she's thinking on her face and gain perspective there, but either I'm wrong and they just thought it's be cool to have her face on screen so long, or I'm right and NK just isn't that good and actress (which I thought she was...i mean i loved her in Cold Mountain)

The story is that her husband died 10 years ago and a little boy comes to her claiming to be her hubby reincarnated.

Also rented a movie (i told fawN about it) called Intermedio. BAD BAD BAD! It was directed by that guy from Spin City that used to wear roller blades all the time (too lazy to imdb...he was in the feature we watched after the movie)and the female lead's clothes kept getting skimpier and skimpier thru the whole thing...for instance her shirt started of waist length and for no reason at all (wasn't cut, didn't get caught on anything) by the end of the movie it was barely long enough to cover her naughty parts. eek

The story was some kids go in some tunnels along the border of cali and mexico and they're haunted.

We also finally got the membership at Hollywood Video where it's $9.99 a month and you can rent all you want for free...except new releases unless they're labelled as part of the MVP program. YAY!

We just got done watching Ocean's Twelve, and I'll quote what I just told Jaz because I can't remember exactly what I said otherwise..

It started off slow, so I didn't think I'd like it, but it had lots of great subtle humor, and lots of surprises! I liked it! And it was filmed interestingly... like the dialogue and stuff, it felt more genuine, like it was reality tv and not staged, kinda.

We're gonna rent this one. We never rented Ocean's 11 cuz Kevin couldn't stand that they remade an absolute classic with the rat pack (you know, sinatra, dean martin, sammy Davis jr....) It would be like them remaking the Wizard of Oz...but since they never made a sequel somehow Ocean's 12 is okay to see lol.

We just saw a movie last night called "Cabin in the Sky" made in 1943. It was Vincente Minnelli's directorial debut (Liza's dad). An all black musical about a man who dies and his soul is gonna go to hell but he gets a 2nd chance to redeem himself cuz his wife prayed for him so much. Sounds kinda cheesy, but it stars Rochester (Jack Benny's sidekick....remember the bugs bunny cartoons lol) and Ethel Waters and Lena Horne with smaller parts of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and the "I don't know nothin bout birthin no babies" girl from Gone With The Wind (sorry, too lazy to IMDB her name, it's Butterfly something) It was actually really really good for the time. It has racial stereotyping in it unfortunately, as do so many other films of that time, but the characters are real and the dialogue isn't full of dis and dat, they're eloquent and intelligent characters. I would recommend this if you are at all into musicals or old films. And one of the songs in the movie was nominated for an cademy Award (Happines is a thing called Joe)

Talk of Oceans 11 reminded me of this (I guess because it's set in Vegas Casinos) but last week my best friend's husband Steve was in Vegas for a week doing training for work, and he was in the new hotel (I don't know what it's called) at a card table and Drew Barrymore sat down at his table and stayed there and played cards with him for 2 hours! She was apparently there for the grand opening of the hotel. He says she's even cuter in real life!

(When he got home, he was laying in bed awake and unable to sleep, and my best friend asks him if he's got work on his mind, or if something else is bothering him, and he says no, he's just thinking about Drew Barrymore, and she hits him!)

LOL!! i can't blame her for hitting him..
can't blame him for not being able to sleep either though.
must have been a pretty sureal time for him, you all like to think you'd be cool if you met a celebrity but i bet most of us would go totally to pieces!

We just watched Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. I loved it! It was done so differently than other movies.. very creative and artistic! And it's actually a movie of hope and it made me cry.

I love the settings.. it's like a dream or a fantasy, or like the game Riven on another world.

Hehe! He woulda been cool in there. smile

Watching the bonus features, I found out that 85% of Jim Carrey's lines are his own creation when was doing improv to "get in character." blaugh

Went to the theatre this weekend and saw Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. I must say I loved it (I'm still singing the opening song lol) but I wish I hadn't read the book right before seeing it. I noticed right away the discrepencies and Zaphod Beeblebrox wasn't portrayed as I had expected...but I loved Marvin the Robot! All in all I would say go see it, or at the very least rent it when it comes out. But if you haven't read the book yet...WAIT! until you see the movie xd

We watched this last night, and I'm glad I was aware of what you'd said about all the time they took focusing on people's faces while they do nothing so I could think about maybe WHY they did this. I think it's directed that way on purpose because it's supposed to make us think and wonder and wait, and feel the mental frustration and battling that goes on when you take a long time to absorb things and wait for conclusions, and it really leaves us guessing about what everybody's thinking because there's not much dialogue. We have subtitles on, as usual, and there wasn't much to read, and there was a lot of silence and waiting and wondering. It's frustrating that the boy doesn't say more or explain more, but I think it's supposed to be that way because the director doesn't want to spell everything out, and I don't think the movie would have the same effect if it was fast paced dialogue and action and explaining, one after the next.

I did get a lot out of all the time focused on Nicole Kidman's face at the concert, though. Although her face hardly moved, I could sense her disbelief and denial, followed by a subtle change into anger.

Anyone else here see Star Wars Revenge of the Sith yet? We went to the midnight show in New Orleans. If you did, what did you think?

I personally got kinda tired of the 50 million light saber fights in the beginning. And it really really bugs me to see Yoda doing triple backflips. I have a hard time with him being CG ... miss the puppet Yoda I do. xd

I did love seeing who the Emperor was and how Anakin turned and how Leia and Luke ended up where they were and everything. It was really good IMO but I think my favorite of the new 3 is still the first one (even with the annoying JarJar) altho Kevin thought this one was the best of the new 3.

i also got to see Ice Princess the other day. that was a cute movie! The main girl looks like my sister-in-law's niece all grown up (she's 4 now)

From what I hear about the new Star Wars, the guys LOVE it, and the girls shrug and say "Eh, it was pretty good."

We're waiting til the crowds die down. It's still be sold out here every day.
