I prefer warlock ((and no warlock is not a name for a male witch, they are not interchangable)) A warlock is a certain type of energy and blood. You cannot become one, you are born as one. And I get harassed about this all the time. But well, I'm not afraid. Even if there are some negative stereotypes associated with it. I was born into a family with a long lineage of it. And I happened to enherit and possess all of the necessary traits ((though it is rare for a female)) I'm one of the few females born into the family. It's predominatly male, and the women marry in. But I got lucky ((or cursed, whichever way one wants to look at it)) But I will stand here boldly.
I say it loud and I say it proud

"Witch," though currently I use the term "Pagan." I won't call myself "Wiccan" until after I am Initiated.

"WARLOCK! AND PROUD OF IT! Ehhhmm, if I may add one small thing (once again quoting the people I always quote), the Church and School of Wicca, at least, prefers not to use the term "warlock," as its definition originates as an old word for "traitor." ^^;

well... i think of the words like gardner did... they're the same, only wiccan holds less connotations than witch... but i like both, because sometimes you need to explain what you are fast... "i'm a witch"... other times, you need to explain slowly and clearly... "i'm a wiccan" allows a fresh view to start with... like blank canvas to paint for the person you talk to...

But I'm going to keep strong to my heritage and birth rite. Sorry if it upsets anyone but well . . . .deal with it, lol sweatdrop I hate the stereotype portrayed as warlocks. . . . and while that may have been the way they started . . . the same does definately not hold true today. We're not all bad . . . we just have too much energy for our own damn good sometimes stressed

I would like to be called a Elementist, I concentrate mainly on elemental spells and encantations. I study all but love fire and earth the most.

Yea, I read somehwere in the internet that there are 2 orignes for the word warlock, there was the good and the bad. "Members of the Wiccan religion consider the word an insult. It is said that the word itself comes from a Scottish word meaning "oathbreaker" or "liar". However, one source suggests that the word may come from the Old Norse Vard-lokkur, "caller of spirits". it came form wikipedia. biggrin Naomi Tinuveil Sucellus Naomi Tinuveil Well, everyone else can call me what they will. Firstly, I prefer the name Witch. Because I consider myself pagan rather than wiccan, and to clarify, I usually say I am Pagan, and follow it with my also being a witch. Most people are either bored or confused by this point, and the conversation dies or changes. (I think the above statements are enough to prove my own insanity/lack of coherency in and of themselves.)
Secondly, in regards to Halloween, Samhain, whatever name you choose to call it by, I thought I would again bring up the comments about the "Stereotypical Witch" and the Wicked Witch of the West. (green faced, ugly, etc. --though, not necessarily water-soluable.) I'm going to school as the Wicked Witch of the East! Yes, but pre-house-squashing. My broom appears old-ish fashioned, but wherever I go, I am also bringing a sign from my aunt, [coincidentally?] the same size as medium-large traffic signs, and bearing the words: Witch's Parking Only-- All Others Will Be Toads blaugh So, whenever I have a class, my broom will [legally] have a place to stay.
Thirdly.... Hocus Pocus amuses me no end. xd
