“Then west we go!” Tsuki said with a nod. Kitakami wasn’t particularly big, so even if they only managed two things today then he figured they’d still have enough time tomorrow for the rest. “It is kinda cool though, this place looks like it has half a region’s stuff crammed into one place.” Tsuki grinned, returning his Pokemon back to his Pokeball. Snapdragon was many things, but a runner? That was not one of them. The trainer oo’d and aa’d as they both approached the Apple Grove, occasionally taking pictures of the Applin line with his phone as they walked. “Kinda makes me wonder about how many unknown evolutions we don’t know about because some Pokemon haven’t been exposed to certain things.” He commented. There were Tart Apples that turned Applins into Flapples and Sweet Apples for Appletuns. But what kind of apple turned an Applin into a Dipplin? Something with caramel he imagined- something not readily available in Paldea or Galar. Once they were somewhere where the slower Pokemon could wander, he sent Snapdragon out again. “What’d you think bud? Anything here smell familiar?” Tsuki asked as he leaned to his Pokemon. The big oaf sniffed the air, showing off the odd olive shaped mark on his snout, before turning uphill and (slowly) leading them further into the grove. Another question did linger in the back of his mind: whatever triggered that evolution was something they had back at HQ! To be more precise, it was something they kept in the snack pantry…

Clare nodded to Tsuki's assessment of Kitakami as the two traveled west, speaking up at the mention of unknown evolutions. "Not to mention that Pokemon from different regions seem to learn different moves even when they're the same species. I can only imagine some Pokemon experience the same genetic diversity as people." They decided. "Not that I know much about that, really."
"I can't imagine there would be a lot of options in a single orchard?" They noted, also curious. "Don't they usually grow all the same kinds of apples in an orchard like this?" They asked, looking around for any kind of markings that might indicate different types of apple trees.

“Considering that your family has been trying to keep that breed alive for centuries, I had the feeling that something of the sort was bound to happen. Heck, the fact your family has made it this long is nothing short of perhaps a miracle given the circumstances. Probably only so much Everstones were going to help do for you and it isn’t like one would want to do more…unsavory practices and risk disease on these guys.” Freth said in observation. It was a bit interesting to Freth as much as it felt a shame how these variants ended up getting lost to time’s progression. For as all Freth knew, she had the last Hisuan Sneasel or Hisuan Braviary anyone ever was going to see, and the only reason she had that was because of an impromptu trip through Ultra Space that put them in a world’s Hisuan era.
Freth and Tristen would listen to Perrin about her visit to Jhoto and unfortunately, they knew nothing about a Cameron that’s a photographer, but she did in turn confirm their suspicions as to why she was here in Kitakami. “Yea, this region needs probably a shot in the arm of something. I heard this place was well out of the way and it didn’t have too much for it other than a handful of plantations of some kind.” Freth then said to her. “Sure they had the festival, but its been more of a local thing instead of a tourist thing to what I am to understand.”
“Have you heard anything about the history of the festival?” Tristen then asked, figuring that he might try to delve into his assigned task from the academy. “I’m trying to get a report together and I’m trying to find any information that I can get on it. I did plan on asking this mask maker that supposed to be around here soon, but apart from that, the most I got is whatever you can find in leaflets around the community center.” Tristen said. “There isn’t a lot and I really kinda don’t want to take things at face value. Like, did you take any pictures of something maybe out of the ordinary? Or maybe there are some structures or…anything that can give any sort of hints as to how things were?”

SubonicXP "Oh no no, it's just the name my husband likes to call me. Isn't that right, my Lord?" Sub asked Darts as he threw his arm across his shoulder and began to hang on the hybrid. Immediately mister Shuzi recoiled at this display after piecing everything together. The old country bumpkin would stutter a bit about needing to go and before they knew it the old guy ran off, wanting to get as far away from 'Delicious' and 'Lord'. Sub would happily wave them off and shout goodbye. "Well that was fun." Sub said to Darts once the guy was gone. "Did I go too far? I hope I did." Darts glances over at Sub, who was hanging off his shoulders still with the lingering bit of a smirk hovering under his crest as the old man ran off to get away from the blatant display of homosexuality. "Great. Now not only will they find out I'm a harbinger of destruction, but a fruity one at that." He laughs, somewhat tongue in cheek as they watch the old man run off to repress his inner urges. "How disappointed are the rest of the village going to be when he runs off and claims there's going to be a set of gay acrobats only to find nothing of the sort is scheduled?" Now that they were alone, and Darts had gotten through his morning workout routine, he untangles himself from their slender leader and wipes his crest, the perspiration sticking to it like droplets on a cold bottle of Moo Moo Milk left outside on a hot summer day. He supposed the solid gold headpiece had pores to make it sweat the way it still did, but he wasn't going to investigate too much. "So... what happened, they run out of free apples in the lodge or what?"

"So... what happened, they run out of free apples in the lodge or what?" "Eh, they'll either be disappointed they aren't getting a fabulous show or think the old man is going off one of his inane Facedex rants in real life again. Maybe both." Sub said playfully, giving off an exaggerated shrug along with his comment. The man would then watch as Darts wiped the sweat off his headpiece and had to make a comment on that. "You...sweat from that? Huh, I never noticed. Then again how often are we out about in such a humid place. Geez..." Sub said as he pulled at his own collar. It was fairly warm out despite being autumn, guess Kitakami's cold period hadn't set in yet. "Nah, there are still plenty of free apples to gorge one, a guy can only eat so many though before they never want to even look at another apple. Hi, hello, my name is Some Guy." Sub said as he pretended to extend his hand to Darts to shake only to drop it soon after extending it. "So, what do you think of this place so far? Seen much of it yet?" He asked, turning to stare off into the distance.

"Truth be told it needs a lot more than a shot of tourism, for the exact reason you just said; it's just so remote." Perrin responded to Freth, agreeing with the hybrid's own assessment of Kitakami. When Tristen spoke she would turn her attention back to him and smile. "Actually, yes, I have! It's so nice to see such an inquisitive kid though, you must take your schoolwork seriously. Good." She said, pleased to see Tristen was inquiring about the festival for a school assignment. "The story I got is fairly similar to the leaflets you probably saw, that is the Loyal Three protected the town from an evil ogre that came down from the mountain to attack the village folk. The three Pokemon had fallen in battle against the ogre but not before driving it back. In commemoration of the Loyal Three's heroism a shrine was erected and a festival celebrated every year in their honor. Now for the part you probably don't see in the leaflets; local folklore says the ogre still lives, its home somewhere up in the aptly named Oni Mountain, oni being another word for demon or ogre. Because of that some believe the ogre could return one day to attack the village with the yearly festival scaring it away each year with the faces of the heroes that defeated it so long ago, the masks people wear." Perrin explained to Tristen, what bits she learned while here. "Here, check this out." She said, turning her camera around so that Tristen could see the screen on the other side, showing him a picture of a large waterfall, the picture taken from near its base. One could see a large ledge that jut out from the waterfall and just beyond the ledge a cave entrance. Nothing else could really be seen though. "I was warned away from going so far up Oni Mountain but one local says it's that cave where the ogre lives. No one is brave enough to go inside with said person saying a number of years ago one person ventured in and never came out. Who knows if it's true...I wasn't brave enough to go any further." Perrin said with a nervous laugh.

Leslie would narrow her eyes and tilt her head at the woman's question. While everything before that moment had been an absolute delight for her to hear, this last question was the one that was throwing her for a loop. "How......how are we supposed to ride the same Pokemon and somehow work separately?" She questioned, face twitching slightly as she attempted to figure out what exactly that question had actually been meant to get at.

Tristen and Freth listened intently as Perrin talked on about the history of the festival, but what actually had them more intrigued that the ogre was potentially still alive. Tristen and Freth would give a brief glimpse at each other, then looked back at Perrin. Tristen would take a look at the picture Perrin had of the cavern where the ogre allegedly lived. Tristen tried to think for a moment; tempted to go up the mountain himself to investigate. But it’d probably take him all day to scale the mountain and investigate. Even if he had Dragonite help him scale the mountain, there was a lot of mountain to cover, let alone the natural caverns within, all of which if he had to guess were completely unknown to effectively everyone, even the people here in Kitakami more than likely. He’d needed longer than what he had. “Has…this ogre actually been seen nowadays? Or some sort of sign that something has been around?” Freth then asked curiously. “And how did you find this out?” Tristen then asked. “Maybe it can give me some sort of idea as to what put in my report. Also is there anyway I can get a copy of that picture you took? Or tell me what way you went so I could get one myself?”

I stayed behind while the others ran off, as I didn't want Keiko to wake up to find everyone gone. I got bored after half an hour, though, and went back to our room to get some freelance work done before she woke up. Another half hour later, she finally got up and left the room. Without saying anything, which was a bit of a surprise. Probably just got up to use the restroom was my first instinct. Thirty minutes later, I heard her voice again. "Ugh, I hate bathing in cold water," she whined. I closed the laptop and turned to face her, and was surprised for a second that she wasn't shivering before I realized her fur probably helped. Didn't stop her from complaining, though, but I didn't really mind. The temptation to pick on her for it was there, but I didn't want to agitate her.
"Yeah, I heard the hot water goes quick here. Not really surprised, honestly," I responded. Given how backwater this part of Kitakami was, it made sense that the comforts of civilization would be scarce to some degree. It's something I expected long before we got here.
"How long did you wait for me?" Keiko asked. Her frusration gave way to worry somewhat. Not entirely - not even a great deal. It was enough for me to notice, though. With my laptop off, I had to check my watch. "Only a couple of hours," I told her. I didn't gvie her an exact number - didn't want to stress her out. She wasn't happy to hear it, though. "Sorry..."
I suppressed a chuckle at her apology. She looked sincerely dejected, but given how much trouble she had sleeping on the bus, it only made sense that she'd sleep in a bit. It was still morning after all. My first instinct was to just brush off her sadness and tell her it was fine, but that didn't feel right. So, I stood up, put my hands on her shoulders, and got close enough that she couldn't help but look up at me. "Hey, it's okay. This vacation is about us, right? Let the others do what they want. It doesn't matter where we go as long as we're together."
Her fur made it impossible to tell from looking at her whether she was blushing, but her emotional state after my little stunt made it clear as day that it was. That said, the warm, fuzzy feeling her being was covered in was being quickly eaten away by reason - it didn't last long. "Well, neither of us really know anything about this town, so we should at least get some directions," she sighed.
I nodded, smiled at her, then walked with her as we made our way out of the building. We only got up to the front door before running into Sub and Darts. I couldn't really tell - especially since I couldn't sense Sub's emotional state for obvious reasons - but I got the feeling that Keiko and I interrupted something. I chose not to speak on it, but Keiko picked up on it as well. "Do we need to give you two some space?" she asked coyly, failing to keep herself from smirking.

"No no, I didn't mean to say I was assuming you two were on the same Pokemon, just that if you were then what is it or would you two be participating separately because then it's assumed you two have separate Pokemon. Sorry for the confusion my dear."

Darts here just encountered a man with a very narrow mind and I decided to help him expand the width of said mind. Whether or not it worked is on him but at the very least I managed to give him a good scare." The man grin devilishly. "So how are you two enjoying the region so far? Think it's good enough to register as a honeymoon destination for some love birds like you?"

"I couldn't tell you. We haven't seen anything of it yet. Keiko couldn't get comfortable enough to get any sleep on the bus, so she got all her sleep here. She woke up about half an hour ago, so we haven't had a chance to see anything yet," I explained, patting Keiko's shoulder when those pangs of guilt resurfaced. She'd done nothing wrong and I wasn't going to let her feel like she had.
"We came out here to ask someone for directions," she explained, doing her best to not let her guilt get to her thanks to my non-verbal reassurance. "I've heard some crazy stuff about this place, but I've never actually been here before," she added.

[Infernal Pass] "Gonna guess there's a good bit of history with them to respond the way you did, then." So maybe Aile hadn't seen the other attempts. A welcome upside to the whole thing as far as Aden was concerned, thinking about how messed up it'd be if she did. "I won't pry any further into it, unless you wanna talk about any of it. I don't remember us doing a lot in Kalos, though, which I guess leads into your own question." He stopped for a second, sighing and thinking back to that brief moment where he thought he'd lose himself. "I... I jumped into it. The kind of power it was unleashing, the way everyone was getting trounced. I had to do something. Would've been good to know the kind of sword I was working with when I up and grabbed it for a last stand, though... but as I tried to attack, I could hear it clearly. Hear them, rather. Feel them. Understand them, even. I was sure it'd take me, but I was more afraid it'd get the rest of you if I didn't do anything. There's apparently memories that went with it, but I wouldn't be able to tell you which ones went. To me, they've never happened. Or if it's moves, I've never formally learned them. Er." He shook his head as he kept walking. "Well, apparently I did, but my only frame of reference is what I've been told. Also that whatever I did do back there was a move closer to something called Burn Up. But I don't have a memory of learning that either. I just know a lot of fire was unleashed, especially with dad's sword and the extra power I felt from Reno." "Anyways, Malva alone sounds like someone I wouldn't feel bad about beating if I ever battle her." --- [Kitakami Hall] "First time here," Cera spoke up. "Think maybe there was some sign or something somewhere? I... didn't get much of a chance to look at it. Also, er, ride?" She didn't know about the whole 'riding a Pokemon' part, and the realization set in that she didn't exactly have many options. Her Starmie would be perfect if they weren't shadowfied and a huge risk... Tyranitar wouldn't exactly be the sort one would traditionally ride. The rest were too small or otherwise not meant for such a thing. And the wind seemed pretty stiff today; Drifloon would surely just get caught in it instead. Which left... "Lapras. I'll be riding a Lapras," she said, her confident tone and poker face speaking volumes about the cockamamie idea in her head, let alone the silently mouthed 'thank you' to Leslie.

Sub said as he pretended to extend his hand to Darts to shake only to drop it soon after extending it. "So, what do you think of this place so far? Seen much of it yet?" He asked, turning to stare off into the distance. The Giratina hybrid gestures for the two of them to start walking by way of an answer as they head towards the main part of town. "Yeah, I don't think it's heat related, only exertion related... only seems to happen when I'm fighting or working out or something where I'm putting my body through its paces. Like a natural coolant system, but a little bit different than a... human body." They wander the small streets of the town for a little bit as they walk through, and even as someone a bit more used to bigger cities Darts had to admit the place had a bit of charm to it. Kids played in the streets, laughing and giggling as they ran around in the middle of the paved roads, heedless of the threat of any potential cars. It looked like vehicle traffic was a rarity, so they had taken to any and everywhere as their playground. No school today of course fired them and set them out amongst the world without a care. Old dottering missus said their morning 'hello' to anyone they met on their way to getting their washing done, buff-looking gentlemen with crates and baskets made their way towards what Darts presumed was the apple orchards, preparing for a rare half day of work before they got to settle in for the festival. Speaking of the festival, there were little signs that it was gearing up for full swing here soon. Posters, plastered all over bulletin boards or on the side of the traditional-looking houses heralded its coming 'today, today, today' all of the signs screamed. In between the workers, elderly, and kids, you'd catch sight of someone scrambling off with a sign in their hands or carrying bags of ice, paper lanterns, or some other obviously party-related paraphernalia as they headed off to the area where the festival was to be held later that night. For a moment, Darts gets caught up in the atmosphere of a small town on the precipice of a once-a-year special event. Everyone knew it was coming, but it wasn't time yet so you HAD to act like it was just a normal day. Pretend, even just for a little bit so you could make time pass until the evening. "I think it's.... charming, in its own way." He answers Sub, as they round the corner, Darts stepping back politely to let a grumpy-looking man hauling two clear sacks of rice noodles towards the festival grounds. "It reminds me a lot of Mymay Village - they would often do festivals and things like this, rooted in tradition. Despite being right next to the seat of the Dragon Clan, or maybe because of that, the people there very much stick to the old ways. They don't get caught up in flash or theatrics until a day like today comes along." The pair of them were now in front of the shop near the Community Center, Peachy's, with goods stocking the shelves full to the brim in expectation of extra business. Darts moves out of the way of a middle-aged man in a suit, who gives him a polite nod, his eyes roving his face and jacket but saying nothing as he bustles off with the morning paper. No intention of buying anything, he still browses the shelves with a curious air as though he might, his red eyes reflecting off the sliding doors of the freezer full of ice cream treats. Something catches his attention, a dusty looking plush sitting on a red cushion. It was mostly spherical, with a point at the top, and two small little nubs on the bottom. It looked all the world like a purple Team Aqua symbol and had clearly been here a while. "Hey, Sub, you ever seen anything like this before?" He asks, prodding it with an extended golden finger. It squishes gently, meeting his expectations in terms of texture and give. SubonicXP The man grin devilishly. "So how are you two enjoying the region so far? Think it's good enough to register as a honeymoon destination for some love birds like you?" TerashiLeonGoken "I couldn't tell you. We haven't seen anything of it yet. "I've heard some crazy stuff about this place, but I've never actually been here before," she added. Darts looks back as Keiko and Ter approach the pair, forgetting all about the plush for a moment to wave to the two Snagems now accompanying them to the convenience stand. "Directions is probably a good idea." He confirms with a laugh. "I have no idea where anything is out here either, I'm just wandering about, as I do." He hears Sub's comment about a honeymoon trip and can't help but comment: "Isn't a honeymoon supposed to involve more.... indoor activities?"

Casting eyes over to the bizarrely confident girl next to her, Leslie would simply shrug in response. "I'll be on my Onix. Let's see how well the Ousting can go." She said, smirk crossing her face as she settled her hammer onto her shoulder. Sure, her partner's choice in ride was....interesting, but it was bound to be somehow workable.
Hopefully.
