It's probably already posted here somewhere, but I think the truely lamest argument I've ever heard would have to be:
"Because the Bible Says so"
I liked the other Becauses, but honestly, for lameness, I think this one takes the cake.
Edit: Oh, and Hi, btw, just joined the guild ^_^ I like it here.

Me: So you're a creationist then? Them: Yes, because GOd is all powerful. He can do anything. Me: (Deciding to play along) So He could have created a world with evolution? Them: No.

Eh, I haven't heard very stupid arguements recently but one I don't really like is "Because I can just feel it" reffering to they can just feel that there is a god here.

I know it's been posted here before but it'd have to be the old 'Because the bible says so' argument.
Well in that case why don't we use LOTR by Tolkien or the religions of ancient Egypt or Greece or Rome because they all have "evidence" that supports those theories, so by the same token are they any less valid???

Wow. You all have good points. I believe in God and some of the Bible. But honestly it makes me sad that two groups of people who believe differently about such a stupid matter have to have all-out wars over petty differences. One believes one way. So what?! Like it matters. Were all humans, who live on the same planet, and have very similar lives. Plus, wouldn't this world suck if we knew all the answers to our questions. I mean if we knew everything there would be no suprise or anything to life. A continous, never ending, mirror everyday. Live life in the now.

The stupidest one I heard, is when they argued against evolution in favor of the creation theory by first quoting the Bible, and then not even addressing the topic. They just quoted the stuff about Jesus most of the time, and this was supposed to be their argument for "Intelligent Design".
Also, another really stupid argument that I hear all the time. Its that whole "its insulting to say my ancestors were apes" kinda thing. Basically, they view that evolution demeans humanity, and is therefor wrong.

"Well, just because some scientist said there was a big boom, and then earth was ball, and then it melted, and all the chemicals formed us, or monkeys or fish or whatever you wanna think, that doesn't mean it actually happened. It's kinda like a cookie- you know how when you get some chocolate chip cookies from albertsons, they do not taste as good as ones home made? It's because you get love in them!
Evolution- we just put all the ingrediants in a bag and wait for them to suddenly form us.
God- He made us with love." - l o o n y l o v e 114

Quote: I think im speaking for most of us here when I say I am tired of living in a country that promotes sin and a satanic lifestyle. I was not born a christian only to have some godless person try to instill their beliefs on me or my family. Something needs to change. If we are to win the war on terror then we need to get everyone on the right side. Why dont we see any Christification camps? Children should be taught the Truth of Christ at a young age so that they cannot grow up believing in satan... I understand why Bush has been divinely inspired by the Lord Jesus Christ, because only he understands the perils that our country and Christian Citizens of the United States face on a daily basis. The inherit threat of the mohammedons must cease, and we must be able to live our lives without fear of being killed in the name of Satan(allah). I think we need to have Christification camps open up through the country, requiring mandatory attendance for people who chose to believe in false religions. This is a real threat we are facing and we need to take it very seriously... eek rofl rofl rofl rofl Oh sheesh, this made me cry by excesive laughing.... oh, my stomach... Christification camps.... rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl Quote: I understand why Bush has been divinely inspired by the Lord Jesus Christ, because only he understands the perils that our country and Christian Citizens of the United States face on a daily basis. Yea, and the cure was taking their sons, brothers, fathers and husbands to an oil-interested war taking place half world away of America. Again...> rofl rofl Yea, not too creationist, but it's still good for a long laugh cool Quote: Eh, I haven't heard very stupid arguements recently but one I don't really like is "Because I can just feel it" reffering to they can just feel that there is a god here. Yea, i also can feel that little leprechaun that tells me to kill my classmates and burn down houses twisted Oh, well.. Worst creationist argument i've heard?: "AYOONE HU SUPPRTS IVOLUTON IS A SATIN WURSHIPPR" Sigh... too bad that i can't find that thread.... and yea, that's how he wrote it.

the old 'not a fact, just a theory' always stuns me for a few seconds. then there's the 'the bible does(n't) mention that' excuse for why something is wrong or right. I love the 'how else could X happen', especially when its simple like tides, or even how planets could form because it shows they never even tried to get an answer. I also love the 'why don't we see fish giving birth to frogs', or humans from monkeys (or any X giving birth to any Y) today?
but my favorite I've ever heard is the 'bull argument' on page 3 of this thread. I almost died before finishing that blaugh
