Soon after she was born, both of her parents where killed by a strong demon. Being left alone in the world while so young would have been a death sentence, luckily however, she was taken in by a woman. A member of a demon hunting clan. Much to the protest of the other members of the village. However, the woman's strength was too great for anyone to stop her from doing what she wanted. Thus the young half demon became a member of the small village, and daughter to the chief of said village.
She grew up happy, but lonesome, beside her adopted mother, none got close to her. This only made her act out, playing tricks on others, and forcing them to give her attention. When not messing around she was training with her mother. The young cat looked up to the chief, wanting to be just like her. She even tried copying her fighting style, even though it felt wrong to her, she kept at it, until one day.
Shion was messing around the villagers one night, and ended up over hearing the truth behind the reason she was brought into the village. Her father was indeed killed by a demon, but that young man was actually a member of this village. Her real mother lost it after finding out and went insane after losing her love. In order to protect innocent people from her wrath, the chief went and subdued the demon, killing it. The chief then took the baby half demon to raise as her own.
When Shion confronted her mother with this information she spilled out everything, including the fact the young man, her father was actually the chief's brother. After that day, the half-demon started to embrace her demonic blood and trained on her own, learning a fighting style all her own.

His father was a member of the Bankou clan, not that he ever met him, except for once. His mother was a waitress. It was a one night stand, and after finding out she was pregnant, he threated her to keep her quiet. Eventually she was chased to the edge of town. She raised Kaede on her own, often calling him a cursed child, and the son of a monster. Yet the child didn't hate his mother, instead loved her dearly. He would often watch from the window of a art studio, watching day in and day out how they painted. His love for art blossomed.
While still young he snuck around the village, and discovered his father's home. When not studying art, he would observe his father from afar, and learned of the clan's jutsu. It didn't take long for his artist brain to come to a conclusion. Mixing the explosives with his art would only make it better and leave even more of a impact. This went on for a few years until one night.
His mother had worked up the courage to ask Kaede's father for money so he could become a shinobi. He surprisingly agreed to her demand. He gave her a bag full of money and sent her off home. Yet his kindness was all a lie. When she had arrived home, Kaede had finished practicing, and was on his way home. He saw the explosion, his home and mother gone in an instant. His heart broke, and he swore revenge on the man who did this, knowing it could only have been his father, and the village that had let such a dangerous man go around without any countermeasures.
Because it was on the edge of the village, not many paid attention to it. Kaede watched from the shadows as authorities asked his father about it, and his denial, and excuse of being home. He had gotten away with murder, but soon, his son would be strong enough to get his revenge. The father having never seen his son, figured both had died in the explosion, that will be his ultimate undoing.

While most of her family has some traits of the bats they have connection to, she was born more bat than human, covered in white fur, and bat like wings for arms.
