Kora felt her face cool a bit as Echo frantically pointed at herself. "Oh, if you need a roommate then it'll be easy studying together and making up our own sign language!" Kora exclaimed as Cloud led them to the garden's entrance. "Wait -" Kora dashed past Cloud and to a red Japanese bush that kinda resembled a tiny willow. Reaching her hand in and pulling out a second back pack, a sock hung out of a zipper. Cloud poked it back in as she walked by. "Thanks. See ya around." Kora glanced at Cloud with a half smile and a quick wave. "Lead the way!" Kora exclaimed, putting an arm around Echo's shoulder. "Wanna sleep over tonight and we sleep over at your place next time?" Kora asked Alba.

Cloud sat in the garden leaning against her great tree for hours. It was late into the night and nobody was suppose to be awake. She kept thinking about the monumental good day she'd had.
"Friends?" she wondered "Do I have friends now?"
Stiff from sitting for so long, she stood and went for a walk outside the garden. She strolled the campus with ease, following the many winding paths. Her breath was coming out in puffs, warm compared to the cold night. She shivered just a little and stretched her wing out to its full six foot length. A soft wind rustled her feathers as she stared upward at the starry night. A song came to her mind so she started to sing.
Suddenly before my eyes
hues of indigo arise

After her night stroll she still couldnt sleep. She wondered into the basic gym where there were weights, work out equipment, and mats on a big open floor. She flipped on one set of lights. She tied her shirt tighter and stepped out onto the mats. Cloud did some stretches and then showed off some of her fighting skills with no one watching. She flowed from one side of the mats to the other.

Kora, Alba, and Echo sat in the living area of the dorm room. The three of them helped Kora get settled in and were now in the middle of trying to figure out easy ways of communicating with Echo. It was almost like a game of charades, where Echo would motion silently while Kora and Alba guessed what she was trying to say. She was using the same motions that she used for her family at home. A lot of them were easy to understand or figure out. Time seemed to fly by as they were having fun leaning about each other and communicating. Echo never really had friends come so naturally and easily. She smiled, letting it sink in that she now had friends. She looked over at the clock, it was almost 3:00AM. They had lost track of time. She got the girls' attention, worried if they had any early classes or if they should call it a night.

Weeks flew by and everyone was doing pretty well. Cloud enjoyed watching Echo and Kora hang out near the big body of water. She'd chime into their conversations sometimes but like usual she didn't have much to say. Often times they would be talking about something she'd never even heard of.
Trent would visit the garden often too and they'd walk together. She liked that he knew so much about the things she'd grown. Cloud would practice the names of the plants in secret. In class she started sitting next to him instead of hiding. She never brought supplies with her though. Instead she'd just listen and occasionally stare at Trents book. The teacher had taken notice of her so he had her name added to his list. Now she was required to do the work so she began asking Trent what to do on it.
Cloud was spending far less time alone during the day.
"Are we friends?" she asked the group while they were all together on the grass beneath her tree "I don't think i've had a friend before"

Echo was sitting on the grass under the tree, enjoying the company of her friends and the scenery of the sun peering through the leaves and enhancing the vibrancy of the different colored flora. She looked up at Cloud and nodded with a large grin. Echo had friends back home that were now afraid of her once they found out about her abilities. She was glad that she was able to find friends here rather quickly, as she thought it would be harder for her to open up to others after what happened. In many ways, she felt closer to her friends here than back home. She wanted Cloud to know that.
“Of course, we are friends. And we better stay that way.” Words that came from a distance as Trent approached Cloud’s tree, just getting out of class. He was accompanied by Jade, who hadn’t been to visit Cloud before. It took Trent weeks of convincing, but he managed to finally get her to come and meet everyone. She was still a little apprehensive of Cloud because of her reputation, but decided it was a fair trade after forcing Trent to go to the combat classes with her. “Everyone, this is Jade. She is one of my best friends, I wanted her to get to know you all too.”
Jade waved her hand hello at everyone. Her long hair was tied back in a ponytail, revealing her deep purple eyes. The stick of a sucker stuck out of her mouth as a muffled “Nice to meet you” escaped her mouth. She looked up at Cloud in the tree, wondering how she would react. Something about her made Jade uneasy.

Kora saw Trent aproaching with a new girl as Cloud asked a question. "Hi Jade, that's Cloud." She paused. "I'm Kora. What grade are you in? What's your ability?" Her face turned red as she realized she was talking fast. While crossing her legs, she leaned back resting her hands in the grass.

Jade was a little taken aback by Kora. She gave a light laugh at how fast she was talking. She removed the sucker from her mouth to speak clearly. "I guess I’d be a college junior at this point. I can conduct electricity through my body and expel it as energy. Kind of like static electricity when you slide across the carpet with socks on and touch someone to shock them. But a lot stronger.” Trent was surprised as Jade normally didn’t talk to people or open up this easily. She mostly gave one- or two-word answers when meeting people for the first time. He guessed that she was more open to talking to younger students. Jade sat on the grass across from Kora and Echo, making herself comfortable. “You must be Echo. Trent has told me about all of you. What are your abilities?” She asked, a slight smile came across her face.

cloud studied Jade for a short amount of time. she seemed to have kind intentions.
"welcome" cloud spoke genuinely
She didn't move from her spot and said little else. Clouds attention focused on what was in Jades mouth. She was curious about it but wouldn't ask.

Jade looked up at Cloud. She was still a bit defensive towards her in her mind, deciding to keep her distance despite Trent’s insistence that she wasn’t like what people made her out to be. She stood up straight and gave a smile. It was forced, but looked completely natural. “Thank you. You must be Cloud.” Jade replied, removing the sucker from her mouth. “Trent has told me a lot about you. Nice to meet you.”

"nice things?" she teased him just a tad.
Cloud rolled out of her spot in the tree and landed nicely at the foot of the tree.
"what's that?" she finally asked "I see you eating one all the time"
She shook her feathers out a little to get the moss and bark out.

Trent smiled at Could's comment as Jade fumbled through her backpack and pulled out a cherry sucker, handing it to Cloud. "Try one. It's a sucker. It's sweet." She took more out, passing them around to Echo, Kora, and Alba.

Cloud took it gently and unwrapped it. she put it on her tongue and enjoyed it's sweetness.
"tastey" she exclaimed like a child
Her wing fluttered a bit with excitement. she smiled and continued to suck on it.
"never had something like this" she mumbled as it clicked against her teeth

Kora starred at the sucker, happily surprised by the small gift. She quickly suffered it in a pocket to save for later. "It's nice this place has so many older students as well as younger." She stated, thinking of how much older Jade, Cloud and Trent were in comparison to the other three. "I never had anyone to look up to with powers before." She smiled. "Wait, you've never had candy?" She asked cloud in disbelief.

Jade put her suckers away and sat down on the grass near Trent. She smiled at Cloud’s excitement. “So, tell me about yourselves. What powers do you all have? What are you all studying?” She was trying really hard to be friendly, to not show her usual closed off demeanor. Trent noticed this easily, impressed by how Jade was interacting with everyone so far, but keeping it to himself. Echo looked down at the grass, thinking how she would explain that she is mute, other than just staying silent. She didn’t want to give off the wrong impression.

Cloud shrugged.
"no. I can't say I have"
She continued to enjoy the small treat. She didn't answer Jades question. she figured everybody already had their own ideas about her. They weren't wrong about how she was but they couldn't possibly understand why.
"how's your combat class going?" she asked
