Minerva turned back to Puck and tilted her head slightly "Not with me, I know I have a pocket watch thing, but I left it at- iron teeth?" A giggle escaped her lips as amusement filled her voice, "why would I be carrying around teeth? Silly Puck." Shaking her head slightly she shifted on the ground to lay down and relax, her head resting on an arm as she looked up at Puck "why'dya ask?" she asked innocently with a smile.
Puck was definitely one confusing person. One moment he would say something sweet and, well... 'mushy', then the next he was asking about teeth?

"Because..." he looked slightly disappointed she didn't know. "I'm vulnerable to iron. All fey are. I thought maybe iron was the reason I couldn't breathe. Didn't you read about...oops..." he put a hand to his mouth, a gesture suggesting he thought he had said too much. In all his jesting, he had accidentally told her one of his only physical weaknesses. And that was no jest.

Minerva quickly sat up and crawled over to Puck, "you're vulnerable to iron? That's horrible. Are you sure it's not an allergy, I mean not being able to breathe is a bad thing! Are you sick? You'd tell me if you were sick wouldn't you?" Right up close to Puck now, Minerva placed the back of her hand on Puck's forehead.
Everything else flew out the window as concern for Puck's health took over, not caring about him joking around or putting the hand over his mouth. She removed Puck's hand and placed both hands at the side of his face, gently turning him to face her. "You're alright, aren't you?" She asked him softly.
Minerva didn't want Puck to be vulnerable to anything, that meant that Puck could get hurt. And Puck should never get hurt. Puck was Puck and he couldn't get hurt and leave, he had to stay with her forever!

Puck blinked at Minerva. "Whoa, don't overreact now...it's nothing like being sick or anything...it's just...a weakness. You know...like humans have feelings...Oops! Wrong thing to say..." he added sheepishly.
"Well...I suppose it's not exactly like emotions, because those can also have their benefits... Don't worry, iron can hurt, and it can even interfere with our magic, but it can't kill us. Immortal, remember?" He told her, trying to calm her down as he gently pulled her hand away from his forhead.

"Are you sure? Nothing really bad will happen?" She paused "I'll throw the pocketwatch out, I don't want you to get hurt and leave me." She muttered the last part as Puck moved her hand.
"I'm sorry for overreacting, you probably think I'm an idiot. I keep forgetting you're immortal." She looked down, suddenly very embarassed.

A funny expression came over Puck, as if he couldn't believe anyone would do such a thing for his sake. However, it soon occured to him what he was doing and he quickly resumed his normal expression.
"No, don't worry. And don't throw the pocket watch away; I'm sure it's very valuable. I'll just make a mental note to keep away from it is all." He shurgged, as if it were no big deal, and pretended he didn't hear her last words. Those were the ones that made him uncomfortable, for he wasn't sure how to react to them, but they also made him feel someone cared. Someone actually cared if he was around or not. Then something struck him...the words of a request asked of him long ago...
"Your friendship. I know that is something I must earn to truly gain, but I'd like the chance. I'm sure that is a favor in itself since you don't seem the type to bother getting to know mortals. However, if it isn't too much to ask, I'd like that."
Tymiko...he realized he hadn't really ever given her that chance. But then...maybe she hadn't meant that just for herself...maybe she had ment giving friendship a chance. Was it her plan all along...just to make him see what it was? Puck realized then that hadn't been quite a fair trade...sure, he had tried friendship out, but he had gotten it back in return as well. What had he to pay? He would have to ask the pirate girl later, granted he could find her and she would recall their little deal.
"No...you're not an idiot, Minerva. You couldn't be...you just couldn't...I used to think all humans were idiots; caring about others...being immortal just makes people cold...few have ever known how it feels to be wanted or cared about. And thanks to you...now I know. And I know it would never be worth living forever if you didn't know what it was like."

Minerva slowly shook her head "not that much, you're more valuable that a pocketwatch, more important too, by a longshot. It's just a hunk of junk in comparison. No matter how old or pretty the thing is."
Minerva slowly turned her head to look up at Puck, "Really?" A small smile graced her lips "you mean that?... I'm so glad then!" No matter what had happened, in the back of Minerva's mind, she always thought she was just a big nuisance to Puck, following him around and lacking things like the ability to fly. Since Puck spoke those words, that little bit of doubt instantly vanished.
"And that's never gonna change," She said, completely positive and sure of her words, "even if I get in a fight with you, or mad at you. I'm always going to care about you, and I'm always going to want you around." For some reason she felt the need to make sure Puck knew he was important in her life.
"Even when I'm... gone," she paused, her voice wavering a bit. "I'm still going to be floating around here watching over you to make sure you're taken care of." She nodded "for ever and ever, I'll always be here." She nodded in completion to her words, a smile on her face.

"Well...I'm pretty and old too, aren't I?" he asked her, amusement in his voice. "But thanks. That means a lot, especially coming from you, a girl who's most precious posession is a stick." He knew he was mean for joking like his while she was being serious and trying to tell him he meant something to her. But he was having difficulty accepting it fully.
As a trickster, Puck had the natural suspicious nature of one as well. You couldn't be a trusting deciever. Much as he wanted to believe her, he kept reminding himself about human nature, and the stories he had heard...also, if he did come to accepting that she cared, he would panic, not knowing what to do. And he couldn't afford let it come to that. Not just yet, anyway...
Guilt beat at him again with her sweet smile and little speech about always wanting him around. He told himself not to buy it; for all he knew it was just a bunch of meaningless words. Mortal children said stuff all the time, didn't they? Promises they didn't intend to or couldn't keep...and yet...he also knew just how innocent and honest their hearts were. What reason did she have to lie? Did she want something from him? But he still couldn't remember how to do magic...was she waiting to see if he remembered and if he would give her a wish for being nice?
As she continued...about what would happen when she was gone...to wherever humans went when their mortal bodies couldn't sustain their souls any longer...he felt his mind was going to explode. He couldn't decide what to do. Part of him was telling him not to trust her...never to trust anyone...it was a silly human illusion. A human weakness. And yet...part of him really wanted to believe her. Desperately wanted to believe her.
"You don't know what you're talking about..." he murmured. "Maybe you'll forget about me when you're 'gone'...and besides, I can take care of myself...don't need...anyone...you're not going anywhee, Minerva, not for a long time," he whispered quietly. "I'll make sure of that. So don't you worry about what will happen when you're not."

Minerva giggled "you don't know what my more previous possession is Puck, you're just assuming." She knew he would joke about what she was saying, it was just how Puck was, she was completely used to it by now. She didn't even know if he would believe her.
"I could never forget you, Puck." Minerva said with a smile before the smile diminished and her eyes went sad, "I sure hope so, you may be able to take care of yourself, but I sure can't." she chuckled softly.
Suddenly she pulled away from Puck and moved back slightly, she didn't like this topic anymore, her face expressing that opinion perfectly "you'll make sure of that? So you'll always be around to protect and take care of me? What if you decide I'm boring and then leave the little mortal girl behind?" She sniffed, trying to keep back the tears that threatened to fall. She was too emotional, she was going to have to work on that.
Shaking her head at the idea, Minerva frowned "nonono, please don't leave me Puck, don't leave me alone anymore." She moved back again, "I'm sorry. I keep acting rediculous, I should just keep my mouth shut." Minerva could feel the edge of the roof with her fingers, if she moved back anymore she'd go for one bad tumble down.

((K, me too...*tries to hurry*))
Puck grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the edge of the roof. "I won't leave," he said seriously, still holding her wrist, his eyes gazing straight into her hazel ones. It was the one truth he would give her then and there. He felt he owed it to her. And besides, if he didn't at least give her one truth to hang onto amidst the sea of trickery, illusion, and deciet that was Puck, he was afraid she would let herself drown.
"Now stay away from the edge before you fall and break a bone. I don't remember how to use magic yet, and I have no idea where Ty is, so she wouln't be able to help you." His voice was stern and uncaring, but he was too busy trying to conceal his self-conflicts to do anything about it. He was still uneasy about her talk of not being able to take care of herself. Or maybe she had meant him?

Puck wouldn't leave her, her eyes sparkled at that information but she didn't say anything, she didn't need to, knowing that was enough.
Minerva wasn't planning on moving back any further, she didn't want to fall and hurt herself! "I'm sorry Puck..." She finally tore her eyes away from his to glance over at the edge. A shiver washed over her as she took a tiny step towards Puck and away from the edge. The hand of the wrist Puck was holding turned to grab onto his own wrist as she looked away from the edge "See? I told you I can't take care of myself." Her voice quiet and somewhat scared, from almost falling or Puck's new tone with her, she wasn't even sure herself.

((Ever heard the song "Whisper" ? Or "Taking over me"? Both by Evanescence...my friend got me the CD. ^^ wink )
In a swift, unexpected motion, Puck picked her up and jumped off the tower. They accelerated as they plummeted, but right before they reached the ground, they slowed, and Puck set Minevra down. "It's getting dark. You should probably get home. Rogue...or whatever her name is is probably looking for you." His voice was softer than before, no longer stern, though almost weary.

((homg, have and love them both))
Minerva was silent throughout the whole little flight trip, until Puck set her down of course. "Puck, are you mad at me? I can understand if you are." She took a step back and smiled. "I'm sorry for all the trouble I caused, but I really had fun today, thank you." She smiled and turned around, the smile instantly fading. Fakest smile ever, she didn't want to have to do that again.
"Man I need a hug," she muttered, when she got home, her guardian owed her a nice big hug for how the end of her day had gone, not really fantastic.
She moved to turn back around, "Good night Puck!" she grinned, an actual grin this time. She did have fun, despite the bad parts, the good parts were so much better.

((Both remind me way too much of these two...XD Especially 'Whisper'...))
"Mad? You mean like angry? Not really...just...worried, I suppose. And, okay, maybe angry that I'm even capable of worrying, since it's such an annoying emotion and mostly angry at myself for every agreeing to Ty that I'd stay here a while and give friendship a chance...now I just feel so mixed up. But I'm not mad at you." He looked at her as if she were ridiculous to think such a thing.
"And I'm glad you had fun. I did too." Puck returned her smile, but felt bad at the same time. He hadn't lied about having fun, but he still felt bad for some reason...for making Minerva think he was mad at her, perhaps. Feelings were much too complicated.
"Good night," he called back. "Sweet dreams..." then a thought suddenly occured to him after a moment of standing there.
"Hey...Minerva...want me to walk you home? I'm not going anywhere in a hurry..."

((just clicks in, I have that cd too, I love it. <3 .... ooooh, they do work... You're good at finding songs for these guys, XD))
She tried hard not to upset Puck, and at hearing she didn't she was a very happy little girl. Minerva beamed as Puck returned her smile, saying he had fun.
The one thing she wanted was to have Puck experience all the good emotions, with some bad of course. She didn't want him to, but it was all about balance. Puck was going to need to learn the bad with the good, no matter how much Minerva wanted to shield him from them.
"Really? Walk me home, Alright!" She giggled and held out her hand, beckoning him to follow her as she headed down the road "I just live... a little bit away, not too far." She spoke with a smile.
