"It's fine, honest. I didn't stop to think to ask if you'd be coming either so I can hardly blame you for not doing so either."
Seeing Lilith's hand moved towards her had Melody quickly moving to take it and give it a loving squeeze. She might have moved to hug her then but the sudden slip of Zach's hand into hers gave her pause and made her flush. Though she might have finally, mostly, gotten over the initial mental squeal of having a boyfriend; she was still getting used to some of the touches initiated by him, however chaste they were.
"Oh Zachary, you're fine," she puffed lovingly at him before offering Lilith a shy smile she'd only be able to note in her voice.
"And yes, this is Zachary." Oh she was blushing again, the color moving down her neck some. "The boyfriend I mentioned."
Speaking of boyfriends, she'd had an ear to him and his conversation as she spoke to her friend wanting to make sure that she was paying attention. After all he'd asked her to come so that she could meet Fiona and it would be a poor first impression if she wasn't aware of what was going on. It wasn't like she wasn't used to the task of multi-conversations in such settings.
Which is why the flush had yet to vanish as she caught him calling her the belle of the ball. Certainly there were other women who deserved that moniker, but she wasn't going to "fight" him on such a thing. Though she did give him a small pat on the hand and rolled her eyes playfully at hearing him continue on.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Fiona. Zach's talked about you here and there so it's wonderful to finally meet the woman who means so much to him." A sweet smile was given to the red haired woman even as she poked her date in the side. "Would you give yourself a little bit of credit mister? You look amazing, especially in a suit that fits you."

Priscilla Stratford
Prissy, of course, mistook Regan's hesitance for something else entirely. The quiet girl who didn't know how to dance, pausing? Surely she was having a moment of doubt, questioning her capabilities in the presence of the older girl.
A gentle squeeze attempted to bring the solemn girl back to the present.
"Hey - hey, you're doing fine, don't worry so much!"
For someone who typically remained self-centered in almost every thing she did, Priscilla was unusually generous that evening. Even on her birthday, she was spending time flattering others - perhaps the success of the Ball was good for everyone involved, Prissy included.
"You have good taste in dresses," she mused softly, taking a moment to eye the gown her fellow packmate had picked out. True, it wasn't pink and it probably hadn't been walked down a runway but it was delightful all the same. "What are your feelings on shopping, Regan darling?"

Paul Jones
The smile alone relaxed the worried wrinkles that had creased his brow, the older man showing no resistance as his head was guided towards the ginger's. Sweet success came in the form of positive reinforcement, along with an even sweeter kiss.
Shoulders straightened as slender fingers fastened the rose to his lapel, soon matching the one on Noah's. He'd stopped fussing about the food situation (although Paul couldn't help but notice the way he played with his food here, much like he did at home) but the dark haired man knew better than to make any mention of it.
So, instead, he speared a chunk of steak from his own plate and happily began to chew on it, inhaling his food in comparison to the poking and prodding the fork was doing on the plate adjacent to his own.
"If all parties around here are this ********' ritzy, maybe we should do this more often."
Akio Yoshida
Her flustered reaction was priceless - was there anything that this girl could do that wouldn't send his heart into flutters?
Probably not.
Her attention appeared to be on her plate, focused on the wilting leaf of lettuce that her fork was toying with, but her words were clearly a response to his suggestion - which only made Akio more elated.
"I'll have the limo drop us off; I doubt he'd take kindly to being an associate to a couple of illegal fence-hoppers, hm?"
Another bite was chewed on, then thoughtfully swallowed. "The evening seems like nice weather to walk in. Maybe my dragon princess would like an old fashioned escort home, instead of a ride?"
Robert Banks
Hazel eyes watched as the teenager finger-combed his hair, the tacky looking beanie making the sight an odd one to behold. How many times had that stupid accessory been with K? Hell - Rob could hardly remember a time when he hadn't seen the eyesore on the handyman.
It was becoming increasingly obvious that K wasn't feeling very at home at the event and for some inexplicable reason, Rob didn't know why this made him feel better. Maybe there was camaraderie in the idea that there was someone else present that felt like a duck out of water?
Whatever the reason, a weary smile cracked its way fully across the older man's face as he gazed out into the crowd in search of the mischievous Mory.
"Saved my candy for her." The cellophane bag shook in emphasis. "I'm told kids and candy go hand in hand, though you may want to consider allowing it in moderation."
God, Mory on a sugar rush was a terrifying notion for even the lawyer to consider.
Sidling to stand beside the Russian, the slightly-more-suave of the two cleared his throat and muttered quietly, "Thanks for coming, by the way."

Khaleel Dahers
"Brother! You have nice cologne! I think you look good!" Khaleel clapped Zach on the back once the hand was taken, failing to mention that Khaleel almost showed up in flip flops and he nodded. "Yes! Many things have been exchanged about you as well! I am glad to meet you and-" Khaleel smiled at Mel, "You're lovely date! Hello, hello Melody!" Also though, He'd argue that Lilith was the belel of the ball, but to be honest, they had the best group of women with them. Not just in looks but probably in strength too! (though he didn't know about Melody but he was sure that if Zach approved and then Fiona approved then she was amazing!)
He moved back to Lilith though and smiled, leaning down just a bit to whisper in her ear. "You know Fiona and Mel too! You are amazing Lilith!" He tried not to flush but the smile was wide, "I'm sorry if this is too much! I'm really excited? Lilith took pity on me I think, I met her on new years and now again! Maybe more dates in the future but I don't wanna stress her!" Khaleel was mostly ensuring Fiona of this fact but it was spoken aloud and probably put Lilith on the spot so he apologized to her again. "sorry sorry, but I would like another date......"
His gazed moved to watch Pat though, treating Fiona with flowers, the sunshine pup scrunched his nose between the smiles. Pat would not get a stink eye but he was totally getting stared at awkwardly.
His stare was also a lot of 'don't break mom's heart cuz she's got two sons who are stupid and would do stupid things immediately to make her happy again!!!' but also he knew he'd get the gaze from Fiona so he was on his best behavior, so it really looked like Khaleel was just bouncing with energy that was barely contained.
"I'm really glad we could all meet!" Khaleel would've nuzzled against Lilith if this wasn't their second date, so he took her hand and squeezed again, looking at his date. "Would you like flowers too?" he waited, "Or something to eat or..." a small gasp, "do you want to dance with me?"

He's all over the place look at this mess of a puppy
Almost to the dress display, Trey stopped to down the rest of his glass in a gulp that was far from gentlemanly. He was already looking for another waiter as he fiddled with the flute and wondered, for the thousandth time, where the <********> his life had gone off the rails.
Was it the party where he’d met Chase? Was it earlier, when his mother had informed him the young heir was attending and firmly told him he should ‘make friends’? Or had it started before birth, when his parents had decided to bring a child into the world to inherit their wealth and carry on their lineage? Had he been doomed before he ever took his first breath in this world?
Rowan had been the lucky one… born second, free of responsibilities, free to pursue his own path. Young and wild and so full of confidence that nothing could ever bring him down…
Trey was jerked out of his spiraling thoughts as another body collided with his, sending him stumbling and clutching the glass he nearly dropped. The grief on his face was replaced by surprise and he blinked rather blankly at the young woman before him, her coat over her arm and her blue hair curling around her face.
“Apologies. I should have been paying attention…” He replied automatically before he shook himself and the mask slid back into place. His practiced smile came out once more like the flourish of an offered business card and he bowed his head, sweeping his arm out to offer her the path she had been on. “Please, don’t let me stop you, you seemed to have somewhere important to be.”
He wondered where she was off to… had she gotten separate from her date, or her friends?

Jack might've been reticent about joining in a dance, especially with a response like that, so Lovi flashed him a reassuring smile. "Jaaack," she cooed, "I bet you're an amazing dancer and you just don't want the rest of us to feel bad." She paused in her rush to the dance floor all the same, instead choosing to focus her time on her impromptu date. He wasn't quite like what she imagined, but maybe his on-paper features came out after he came out of his shell a bit.
"Okay, okay, we'll wait 'til the next one. But you're just building up my excitement," she finished, singsong.
Which left them to figure out something else to do. As she bounced on her heels and looked about the room, Lovina didn't come across a whole lot else. It looked like a few rent-a-cop types were standing around the fashion displays, so they couldn't really walk up and look at those. Not touch them, anyway. Which was a good idea, since most of the old people in the room looked totally wasted. Who wanted their greasy, grubby hands all over the dresses, anyway? But she hadn't ever seen a Faure-Cameron piece up close before, so maybe they could take a peek…
And there were tons of food and candy hanging around, including these irresistably cute gift bags full of a girl's best friend! How was she supposed to resist that?
Besides, weren't teenage boys supposed to be like, black holes for food? Jack was probably hungry!
"Ummmmmm…" Lovi pursed her lips together and tapped a painted nail against them. For a while, she fell silent and studied their surroundings. Finally she gave a great bounce on her heels as she turned back toward her companion. "Okay! So, there's not tons of stuff to do here, but! They've got totally beautiful Faure-Cameron stuff aaaaannnnd they've got tons of food. What do you think? Food, or fashion? Cuz I'm totally excited for both!"
I'm gonna post an exit and say that the cat wasn't there when she got back, okay? Loves! heart
"Awww." Roxy's eyes shone and went wide at the absolutely adorable display of the little cat, reaching down to lightly scritch at his belly. "You're so fluffy. Yes you are. Oh my goodness." She loved cats, and couldn't help but coo at him some more, before looking around to see if anyone noticed her. Looking back at the cat, she reached down to scratch at his chin and ears, her gloved hand finding all the spots she was sure that cats loved to be scratched.
"You're such a cute kitty...I bet you're hungry, huh?" She grinned and stood up, looking over the table curiously before grabbing a piece of the shrimp and kneeling again, holding out the small morsel for the cat. "Here, kitty kitty. You like shrimp?" She asked, waving it in front of his face.
Carefully she tossed the piece of food onto the floor in front of him, giving him room to go for the food without having to take it from her. “Yeah, do you like that? Huh? I’ll bet there’s some fish around here I could find for you, you little cutie.” She was so delighted at the cat that she giggled and tilted her head, “You’re not supposed to be in here, are you? Are you a little stowaway?” The young girl glanced around again, “Wait here…I’ll be right back.” She got up and walked away, coming back a few minutes later with another tote bag.
“Here kitty kitty.” She tried to lure him closer to her with another piece of shrimp. “Come on, kitty…let’s get you out of here before you get caught.”

Giulia, naturally, was overjoyed to have been asked to be her uncle's "date" to the valentine charity ball. The little girl had been over themoon, actually, and had devoted the entire day to making sure that everything was just right. The two-year old currently attached to Jada's hip had been a damper on her day- honestly, potty training and diapers!- but her manicure and her hair appointment had gone off without a hitch, and Hope hadn't thrown up on her even once, and even Aidan had told Giulia that she looked quite lovely in her bright red ball gown. Even her rainbow fingernails had been replaced with a french manicure fit for an adult, and her bright red sequined shoes that she had insisted on, she had been allowed to have a HEEL. It was a small heel, but it was a heel nonetheless, and she felt like a right proper adult lady.
Ah!!
She had even convinced Jada to let her wear some makeup, and there was a hint of red and gloss (strawberry flavored) on her lips, and thin cheeks were lightly dusted with powder- barely visible over her natural, excited flush. But she didn't care about that. She slid past Marlo with a proud little smile, head held high, curls bouncing along with her as she entered the area, eyes bright and wide. Most people here were probably with their actual valentine. Or a father. But her daddy was busy, or something, and Uncle Marlo was happy to pick up the slack, so... Giulia wasn't going to look a gift mouth in the horse. (Daddy needed to be free before her first father-daughter dance, though! Goodness.)
"What should we do first?" she asked her uncle, quivering with excitement. "Are you thirsty? Do we dance? Do we greet the hosts? Are there door prizes?"
Accalia really wasn't much of a sweets person so she had really just only wanted the one chocolate, she'd give the rest to Nadia most likely when she saw her later. She liked to give the younger girl things, especially if she wasn't able to join in any of the events that Accalia went to. She quite liked the little girl and wished she wasn't an only child but at least Nadia made up for that in a way. For as much time as she spent with her they were almost like family.
Giving a small smile at the thought she couldn't wait to tell her about all of the decorations and how many pretty outfits there were. She wished she had been able to bring her with since there were other younger children around with escorts. Though the decision had ultimately been up to Nadia's parents so she really couldn't over rule what they had to say on the matter.
Retying the bag of chocolate closed she moves some of the flowers around in their bag and placed the chocolate in there with them so she wouldn't have to fill up her hands with them. Noticing a little bit of a funky aftertaste she figured it was just the chocolate in general. She didn't really eat it all too often so she blamed it on that simple fact.
"Perhaps we can also take a little walk and look around at some of the things?" She offered as well, "Unless you wanted to continue and wait to see if your date shows up?"

Evren nodded. "Sure but let me write down my number for you." She then took out a notebook and paused for a moment and then took out her phone. "Eh... if that really the time." She quickly jotted down her number and tore out the piece handing it to Accalia. She looked like she had a very apologetic face.
“Um, it turns out its getting kind of close to my curfew… ah well… kind of half I don’t want to worry my parents and the other half I don’t really like being out too late.” Evren’s cover story mostly it was just getting close to when she went for a short patrol… but no one can know about that. “A-anyway I’m really sorry to cut this conversation short.”
“Let’s get together sometime, we can chat over tea… or do something else… sorry that probably sounds a little weird.”
"I'm sure you could find a suitable dance partner," Suri pointed out, her eyes cast over the excited gaggle of attendants gathered. She made no motion like she herself was going anywhere near the dance floor, not with how comfortable she was with her glass of wine and her stately recline away from all of the...energetic guests. But that's what Queenie was there for anyway, wasn't it? She gave Suri's project some personality, some people skills, and she was a good listener with steady hands. Ultimately, her plans for the girl were a little grander than trophy wife of the CEO, but she saw little harm in letting her assistant play in Chase's game, if that's what she truly wanted.
Pausing, she assessed the state of her wine glass with a swirl. "I'll be fine, but thank you--" she started, when a vision of cotton candy and pearls passed in their general vicinity, carting around the girl that hid under Adamantine Spar. Suri's nose crinkled, but she was willing to look the other way until she thought she heard a hmph leading out towards the dance floor. With a practiced, metered exhale, she closed her eyes until she stopped seeing red out of all that pink.
"You know, I might know a waltz or two still," Suri remarked, setting her shaking glass on the tray of a nearby attendant. She reached for the crook of Queenie's arm and made her way to a corner opposite Chase's pet, turning to face her assistant once she'd found an area of the floor with suitable space to square up her stance. "One hand on my shoulder, one holding mine," she instructed, her leading hand open and receptive. "After that it's just following, I'll show you how."

The radiant smile with which Lovina graced Jack was returned with a devilish version of his own. Approaching her, he put a finger to his lips and spoke near her ear. "Shhh...you're going to give me away," he told her quietly, his tone playful. Inwardly, he rolled his eyes. "The information they gave you on me didn't say anything about my dancing, did it? I forget what was on there."
Much to his chagrin, instead of continuing on to dance by herself, she lingered at his side. It seemed like her body never stopped moving even while she remained in a fixed spot. Jack watched her under his half-drawn eyelids. Eventually, he followed her gaze toward the designer dresses on display and the people hired to guard them. Did she want to get a closer look? If she was determined to stay close to him all night, he doubted she would get that chance even disregarding the cops standing in their way.
When she piped up again, hazel irises were drawn back to his date once more. She seemed hesitant to speak at first and his first instinct was to be relieved that she might have been at a loss of what to say. His following thought, however, was that she really seemed to be trying hard to accommodate him. Obviously, Lovina was eager to get into the spirit of the ball and try everything, but even with Jack stubbornly staying a stick in the mud, she kept close. Why?
She didn't seem like she would be as simple to shake off as he had imagined, but perhaps she was as keen, if not more, on getting to know him as she was on getting into everything else. He smiled again - this one smaller and more of a smirk, but genuine.
"How about both?" he asked, deciding to try his hand at an old favorite past time. Regarding the cops with a studious eye, he leaned over without turning to look at her and murmured out the corner of his mouth, moving his lips as little as possible. "If you want, we can grab a couple of food plates and go over to chat up those guards. I can try to distract them for you if you want to get a closer look at the dresses. And if they try to stop you, you can 'accidentally' dump your food on them."
He straightened up again and grinned at her out the corner of his vision. "They'd have to leave to clean it off their uniforms. And I don't really see any nearby backup guards to take their place all that quickly."

Was it really so late already? "Oh no worries at all! I completely understand." She gave her a warm smile. Looking down at her number this was one of those times she'd of wished she'd had pen and paper on her but she had her number so she could easily send her a text tomorrow with her name and where they met in case she was like, who's number is this?
"It was wonderful to meet you Evren, I'd love to chat over tea sometime." She stood up to give her new friend a handshake goodbye. "I'll have to get going soon myself." It wasn't like she had anywhere specific she HAD to be, truly it was the fact she didn't particularly like to be out too late. Sometimes you had some really weird people come out or strange things happen after midnight so she always tried to be home before then.
Looking around to make sure she had everything she gave Evren one more smile as she looked around to see where she might head before heading home. "I hope you have a safe travel home, I'll make sure to hit you up soon." She tucked her phone number into her clutch and gave Evren a wave as she turned and headed towards the ladies room first. She wanted to freshen up a moment before heading home, plus she was starting to feel a little under the weather and wanted to make sure she wasn't about to get sick.

Regan Flores
The hesitancy came in many ways, and once she had found a rhythm that was kept up by Prissy, Regan's body relaxed. She was in safe hands, she told herself over and over again. She was safe here, in this place, even among these strangers.
She was safe, she just needed to believe in that more. She nodded her head, even as she was moved, and kept her gaze solely focused on the bouncy curl of the pinkette. Not because she didn't want to make eye contact, but because she didn't want Prissy to see the face of concetration at its finest.
"Me?" The gaze dropped down to the blue piece she wore and back up, "I didn't pick this out." she admitted, "My uncle did." She waited, "I would've came in overalls if he hadn't said something....." She sighed and then blinked. "It's nesscary for buying things." That was all she really thought about shopping to be honest. She had never gone shopping for the pleasure of shopping. Nor had she ever really been allowed too. When she had extra money, it was taken by Paul. Used for his gambling debts. She shopped, she thought, when she could get away with it and buy things she needed.
Evren smiled and waved goodbye. As she exited the door her stomach made a weird gurgling noise. She felt a little under the weather as well. That was strange she felt fine a while ago. Evren shook her head and continued in the direction of her home as unknowing to her the candy bag she was given started to move around slightly. Course he bag was so large she didn't even notice anything.
