Valek - 3

It definitely was a scary situation. Still Valek couldn't help leaning forward so that he could raise a hand towards the other soldier that his papa was speaking too. That was fine to do, right? He shyly smiled before hiding behind his father's legs once more. He just wanted to see what was going to happen with the big announcement that his father had brought him here for. So far it had only seemed to cause a fight and honestly he was already itching to go home.

Finnufarinel | 4

If she thought he would back down then this chit had picked the wrong yaeli. He wasn't like the rest of his kind; there was no sense of self preservation or fear in him. He stood toe to toe with her, as much as he could given his diminutive stature, and kept his lips pulled back in a feral snarl. Whatever he'd been holding back for the sake of Sir Frehy and Kedean was gone; she'd effectively wiped it all away.

He screamed and launched himself at her, only to find a solid hand snatching the back of his ponytail and wrenching downward, dragging him sharply to his knees. An Oban guard stood at his back, standing tall with his imposing chin turned down to look at the yaeli urchin. When Finn started to spark he gave the ponytail a twist, effectively stalling him for the time being.

He passed a look between Kedean and Shavas, "Keep him contained. The less excitement there is in this crowd the better." With his warning said, the guard let go of Finn and walked on, doing his best to keep order.

Whatever Shavas said after that point may as well have been white noise to him. Finn reached blindly for his fallen staff, and clutched it, angrily pushing himself back up to his feet. "Kedean, where's Frehy?"

|| Oba IC ||

”Aren’t those the demons that invaded our lands?! Surely we aren’t here to help them!”

“If the gods have deemed that we are to be saved now why fight against the fate given to those demons? It must be their punishment for those that have taken so many lives!”

“Seriously can’t those bug women take care of their own mess?”

“Sure I don’t mind helpin’! Any fight is good for me! I just doubt those silver eyes will be of any use. I mean look at them already quivering just at being here for a meetin’!”

“Well that revelation could have gone worse.” Antiope’s pale gaze slipped towards Naria who was shaking her head with bitter amusement, “Though I can’t say I blame them.” The petite Matori glanced about at the leader’s before her gaze rested on Elio, “Your people in particular are having a tough time with this, I know.”

The priest, Elio, shifted a bit as he pondered her words, “Is it any surprise? They have traveled far to dangerous lands to be informed that we are to help those that have terrorized our lands.” His gaze was troubled as he glanced around at the leaders and then to the crowds, “We are a pious people and if our gods deem that this is fate then who are we to fight against it? I do not enjoy violence nor can I even fathom the usefulness of it in this world yet here we are being shoved forward by it. Those disgusting creatures have traumatized my people, have broken families and destroyed our lands so why would it be easy for us to agree to this?”

“You can’t just say that it’s fate to let people struggle though!” Naria protested as she walked up to the priest that had to take a step away, “If you all truly felt that then none of you would have ventured out here, right?” She turned on her heel as she studied the crowd, “If you all truly felt that it was your fates, that it was the fate of the Alkidikes to suffer then why risk yourselves by coming out here? You should show your gods that you aren’t weak and that you aren’t worth giving up on! Maybe this is some test to prove that you have the hearts and guts to combat evil and save this world!”

“She is right.” Antiope spoke up as Besian stood behind her in support, “While we can say that it’s not our problem is it truly? Who knows what will happen once the Dretch have had their way with the Alkidikes?! I know that my home is with the Alkidikes in Jahaur and I would fight to the very end to make certain that it stays safe!”

“Strength in numbers.” Besian agreed loudly, “If we all just wait for them to take one country at a time then surely we would fail. If we are to save the world that we know then we must act! I’m certain many remember past events and coming together saved us then so why not now?” He smiled as he noticed Naria clenching her fists in triumph next to him. Surely out of all of the races both Oba and Matori would be willing to fight as they knew what could happen if one race was left unchecked.

Taijana l 3

Things only seemed to be getting worse from there. Everyone was shouting at their leaders, condemning so many for even breathing let alone speaking those heinous words and now there were squabbles among the crowd over what was being said.

In all honesty, Taijana regretted bringing their daughters here.

"I wouldn't either....but Kieran, neither of us are fighters. Not in the way they need us to be." She motioned vaguely to the gathering. "What chance would we stand against something like that? And with the girls....? It's so risky." Taijana would be lying if she said that the idea of going home and forgetting all this left her completely guilt free. She did love the beaches of Matori, and that sweet Oban woman she'd met here had been enough to give her pause. But going back on a lifetime of fear and a culture of hiding wasn't going to be easy.

Xenia l 3

Xenia clutched her sister close, and with her other hand so tightly wrapped around her mama's she knew she was safe. There was a lot of moving angry people, but instead of making her scared, it just made her confused. So much stuff was flying over her head that it was a little hard to keep up with.

"But they don't fight,"
She murmured. "Those guys other there? They do and they're huge!" She pointed out a group of shifters, each man as large and ripped as the next. Even if her papa had a twin and they were hugging they still wouldn't be that big, and mama was even smaller.

"Hey Kitya? What's so bad about a ditch anyway?"
She knew her grandpa had dug one out a while back to let the water go away from his house, but what could be so bad about that?

Saraf Post 4

Saraf gave a nod of his head, "I suppose that is true. Given the desire of our people to suck up to the other tribes to make up for our past sins I wouldn't put it past those that are in charge to send us to help despite lacking the information we need." He blinked a couple times then lifted a hand to scratch it against his chin. Damn it, old anger was creeping up again he thought to himself. Taking in a deep breath he held it, counted to ten, then let it out slowly before he continued, "Mind you I understand the desire to be amiable with others, as well as wanting to keep the allies we've made. I just don't know about the idea of using our blood as currency to make up for the past. I fear that is what those in charge will decide though."

"I have a family that I have to think about but at the same time I've been serving in the army since I was a prentice, I can't really turn my back on my men now." He half wished he had the power to nix the idea of his unit tagging along with this possible mess but he didn't. He doubted that even Captain Jink did. If anyone did it would be the Generals or the King, but he didn't thing that they would be against this would they?

Did this mean that he'd have to leave his family behind? Would Arima follow or try to stay behind with their sons? If she had to go along did that mean the twins would be left with their grandmothers? A worrisome though indeed given how active and troublesome they were.

Gahiji Post 4

Giving a slow nod of his head he said, "That is what I want to do. Never been to Jauhar before, never really left a very specific hunting range actually. Still... I want that fight. Not to mention I've seen some of the Shifters hanging around today, they look like they would be good in a fight. I'd like to take them on too."

"How good?" He seemed to debate it for a moment before he gave her a huge, toothy grin, and said, "About fifty-fifty? They tend to be a bit tougher to deal with since they had distance as their ally at times. Some of them are pretty squishy at the same time. A couple good hits with drop them if you can actually close the gap." Sometimes too fast, to the point that he actually ended up feeling guilty about it.

After a moment he finally asked, "What about you? Do you fight at all?" He wanted to know because he wanted to know if she was at all interesting on that front.

Shierra post 5

Hatred in people ran deep. Pain held with a vice grip. Shierra looked around at those surrounding her, and could see it clearly. She looked over when Prala spoke again, her eyes holding firm to the other's blue gaze. Her mother... "If it hadn't been for the war to free the slaves, my brothers an' sisters an' I wouldn't be here," was the only reply she could think of, to confirm that there had been some good from the horrible event. Saying she was sorry that the woman's mother was killed... felt like it was just fall too flat. "I wish the fights would only take the bad ones..."

Asked about the Dretch, she shook her head. "Not directly. I know a face 'r two ain't been seen for a while, but I don't know their names. Heard people are blaming the Dretch for those. ...Do you know anyone?"

Prala || Post 5

I wish the fights would only take the bad ones...
After a long moment of pained silence, Prala nodded her agreement, "Me too." It was a strangely awkward, and yet beautiful conversation. Her mother had died in a war, her companion's family had been freed by the same war. To say the war should never have happened was like saying that Shierra and her family should never have been freed... Which she didn't feel. But she would be haunted by her memories for a lifetime. "It helps the pain, in a way, to think of the war as having more of a purpose than simply catering to the Oban's pride. It makes me feel as though my loss was not in vain, so I thank you for that."

She took a moment to gather herself, inhaling deeply, and then shook her head. "No, I don't know anyone who has been taken. But I was there in Zena when the Dretch attacked, I saw them appear out of midair and snatch one of us with the ease of a predator hunting prey.... I know they are a threat. And I am not satisfied with waiting until they tire of plaguing the Alkidike and decide to turn their gazes back to the rest of us. They took us before, we have no guaruntee they won't change their minds again."

She raised her voice with this last part. Speaking to Shierra, but happy to allow the people around them to hear her proclamation against the Dretch.

Adenah - 4

"Oh yeah? You should meet my mom, then; she'd knock you in five ticks," She snapped her fingers, "Just like that. Her names...." Adenah paused, eyes scanning the crowd around her. She didn't see any of the men who'd chased after her mama, but there were no telling when they would come up. "Well, I can't tell you, but my name is Adenah and if you ask around for me you'll find her." He was kind of cute when he smiled that like, and if there was anything Adenah liked it was a big, dumb guy who could hold his own.

"I can hold my own, if that's what you're asking." Adenah was chubbier than most, sure, but that didn't mean she was weak. She raised her arm and gave her bicep a pat, flashing the slightest bit of muscle underneath a fine, downy layer of plush skin. "I train with my mama and sister a lot, just hand to hand stuff, but I know swords from my ma." Her sister already had everything lined up on what she wanted to do with her life; Adenah, however...was a little more freelance. She was taking it by ear and now, with the Dretch, she didn't see a need to stress over it.

Kitya - 2

Kitya snuggled even closer to her sister. She had always been the physical type and knowing that she could feel her sister's arms around her made the girl so much calmer. Her gaze slipped towards her papa, a small flicker of worry crossing her features before she forced that smile again, "You're right then. Maybe they'll just do all the fightin' for us, Xenia." She whispered, faint amusement actually coming through despite the knot of fear that was slowly growing in her belly, "I'm sure papa could always outsmart them at least maybe..." He definitely had a slew of books he could toss at any baddies!

The girl pursed her lips thoughtfully as Xenia asked about a 'ditch', "I don't think it's Ditch, sis. I think it's Deeetch or somethin' like that and apparently they're super baddies that take people to far away places." Her gaze narrowed as she tightened her hold on her sibling, "And we definitely don't wanna be taken anywheres to never return, okay?"

Kieran - 3

For such an organized meeting it appeared there was only chaos to be had. Kieran's lips tightened into a frown as he listened to the debate raging about them. This was definitely not a good sign, not at all. Why did it seem that no matter how many years progressed things never did ease the tension between the groups of people? The Alkidike in general were always scorned...something that he once partook in himself. If this had been a decade ago when he was a young adult, restless with the world and still ignorant of so many things, then he gladly would have offered to deliver the Alks to these Dretch himself. The thought made him flinch before his attention was taken back by his wife.

"True, dear." He did find himself admitting softly at Taijana's voiced worries,"Perhaps I could study through my records and see if there's anything about these Dretch that can be used against them..." It was a soft musing, a quiet whisper of his thoughts before he glanced over the crowds, "But while I don't want anything happen to you all I'm worried. If they fail here what does that mean for our future?" If it meant risking his life then he would fight to protect his family. Taijana and the girls simply meant too much to him and to lose them would be to lose his world.

Xenia l 4

So long as all the fighting stayed away from home they would be safe, right? Her friends, family, and all of the animals would be okay...But one of the big shifter guys kept talking about what would happen if the alkidike failed and that was scarier.

She wanted him to shut up. He kept going on and on about how they would spread across the land like a plague, sweeping over the mountains and deserts, consuming everything until they crossed the sea and-

"Shut up!" Xenia screamed. She puffed up, which was impressive, given that her hair was twice the size of her little body. She stayed close to Kitya, but despite her bravery her eyes were glistening. "My sister says the Deeetch are super bad, but isn't that what cool fighters are supposed to fight? Everyone's being really loud and really mean to each other, but what's the point in havin' weapons if you're not gonna use 'em?"

Shavas | Post 5

Shavas muttered a curse towards all meddling guards, she could fight her own battles. She didn't need protection.

"keep him contained" Shavas rolled her eyes. "Is that even possible?" She quipped with a wry quirk of her brow. She liked this fiesty Yaeli, he seemed like he might actually be able to keep up with her fiery moods. Too bad he thought she was a spoiled brat, although, perhaps he was right. Glancing at him and then down at herself, she realized Finn had grown up in a world much harsher than her own. But how was she to blame for the circumstances of her birth?

When Finn stood and spoke to their companion, she stepped away with her arms crossed and firmly stuck her tongue out at him when he wasn't looking. She disapproved of the guard's rough handling of him, but that didn't mean she wasn't still irritated at Finn's words from before, he had tried to tackle her.
She glanced between the two men, Frehy? Was that the little nothing of a man that had accompanied them? She glanced around.

Rainier || Post 5

Rainier found himself blushing again, he fussed with his hair as he shook his head.

"I'm actually scared witless, to be perfectly honest, Father. I can only pray we can end this scourge quickly, and my motives are not without selfishness. The world outside of Yael is beautiful, but it is also a strange and troubling place. Yet I fear what will happen to our people if these Dretch are allowed to continue and... Quite frankly, I doubt I'll ever sleep soundly again unless I know the creatures won't materialize in my room and snatch me from bed."
