So would the same logic stand to reason you learned from what your history taught you?? You don't fight each other anymore right?? I just thought that was important we all learn new stuff everyday." User Image“Please give us another shot. We’re are worth it I promise” Yue said giving a bow. “We are better than this. We just recently all had a very bad experience only a few months ago and so people are still recovering from that event. Tempers are getting frayed when normally we would have it under control. . I admit my fellow citizens of below haven’t handled this well. Like I said we take love very seriously.

I think what you have shared with us about your culture is fascinating. I want to be able to see one of these Rammykins. I want to learn more if I can. Yes we aren’t perfect as you have seen today but please don’t yet make a decision on us. Give us a bit longer.” She stayed in her bowed position and hoped that she could convince them to give her home a chance.

Jet Jaeger

It took all of Jet’s effort to keep from rolling his eyes. Between the lack of tact, accusations, indignant outbursts, and the apparent meltdowns, the citizens of the Below were doing an exemplary job of embarrassing themselves. He only hoped that the diplomats would smooth things over enough for the slaugh and cherubs pardon this foot in mouth event.

Squeezing his way back through the crowd near the front (and careful to dodge that naiad bundled in static from before) Jet made his way back to the microphone. “Why reveal yourselves now? You’ve successfully remained in hiding for centuries. You said you know where and how to find the stones, so there was no need to discard your illusion. You could have retrieved them through other pathways. Why take that risk?”

Especially considering that some of them did not seem all that interested in integrating with the rest of society, it had been a question he had been burning to ask. Jet waited on tenterhooks.

Cillian's ears turned to Charon, and then immediately pressed back against his head as soon as xyr began "speaking." His own eyes narrowed, neutral expression twisting into a sort of grimace. "You misunderstand what I said." Despite his expression and irritation, he responded in an even tone. "The curse that affects the stones Awakened in October is a blight and is a mistake. Those who are Awakened at that time are not to blame for what has happened to them. The fault lies with the fools that thought they could meddle with reproductive magic beyond their understanding. Obviously Hallowed individuals are still people and still have their right to live and exist as they so please. I did not state otherwise. Now, as Icarus said if you cannot control your temper you will be asked to leave." His tone dropped considerably into an irritated hum as he finished off his response. Honestly. He had just mentioned not long ago that he was here to observe and return with information and this was how they wanted to behave.

Immediately bite back that their way of life was wrong and lose their tempers over small misunderstandings. Perhaps this place was not as peaceful and willing to cooperate as the briefings they'd been given presented it to be. He looked to Yue again, the one sole beacon of even temper in the room it seemed. "We do like Nezubats, yes. As far as new types of familiars... there are a few that are native to Elysium." He figured he'd leave it at that-it was a neutral topic but he wasn't really in the mood to discuss it. His patience was wearing dangerously thin.

And back to Styx. "Yes, we accept each other as equals with different, equally vital responsibilities. We work in harmony this way." He nodded, and... decided not to respond to her remarks on the Curse and Hallowed people. He'd had enough of the topic and didn't want to discuss it any further.

His attention was drawn back to Icarus. The Solar Cherub was looking quite worn... and Cillian couldn't blame him. They'd all been up for far too long, trying to get an understanding of where they were going before they arrived... figuring out where the stones had been, how they'd been awakened, what processes they may need to go through to retrieve them... He leaned back, though apparently still within the microphone's range, just barely... "I am inclined to agree. If this is how the average resident responds to the very basics of our cultures... we are not safe to integrate, and our children are not safe to be raised here." He sighed, raising one hand to delicately rub the bridge of his nose before leaning forward again to return to the questions.

Ah... it appeared they had been heard. No matter, he meant what he'd said. "We are aware that the children have been placed in homes... but they are stolen children and were not Below's to give away. I have come here to see what the average resident of Below is, specifically those who surround this Academy as it is the primary source for cultural exchange and so far I must say that I am not impressed. If this is how those who regularly spend time mixed with people of many other races and cultures behave, I cannot say I would feel comfortable allowing any of my people to come here." Yue had asked for a second chance, but... He wasn't sure if he was willing to give it just yet. Jet caught his attention next, so he sighed and turned his attention to the bright Nightmare.

"We entertained the idea of integration. Icarus spoke up for the idea of ending our hiding and rejoining the world. He convinced the Inner Circle to send a representative - myself - to observe and see if it would really be as good of an idea as he had originally thought it to be. After all, you've managed to convince several other races to join you. Though I now wonder how, exactly." Jet seemed to be another straight-to-the-point type. He lacked Yue's careful tact, but at least he hadn't gotten up in arms over cultural differences yet.

User Image Eisetsu said "There are those who are traditional to their old ways in the below. If you did decide to come live in the Below you could still as well." She said simply "I know some have lost their tempers but this is also a very small example of the Below, perhaps a tour and different meetings will give your three races the a wider view of what the Below is like, tour the schools, university, community college, local shops??"

“It was a struggle with other cultures. Our first integration came at the possible kidnapping of our children. We got upset and didn’t handle it well I agree, but then we got our heads out of our asses and realized this isn’t want we wanted to be. We don’t want another 50yrs war. Even our last integration some of our citizens were being held against their will for a little while and they didn't believe our beliefs they thought we were lying just to get freed. We realized that BEING JERKS was not the way to do things and when they told us they were having problems most of the people there sympathized. It was a careful and tricky problem. We are all different people and like I mentioned before we all have different viewpoints. This is just such a small sample of us.

The big event I mentioned everyone was attacked, we lost people close to each other and some of us where turned into things against our will. We are still recovering as a people and we're testy at first I admit. Its just the first day after all. its not enough time for us to understand you or for you to understand how this works... this isnt an attack it isnt, I just want a chance to cool our heads and just talk it out. Please”

Odessa fidgeted. She had remained quiet thus far, giving in to her more shy nature. She had wanted to learn about the new races, had even been excited when she heard about them, but all of this was going terribly and when she heard Cillian talk about them not integrating into the Below she felt sick to her stomach. She couldn't certainly remain as quiet as she had.

She smoothed out her dress and stood, walking carefully to the podium. Her voice was thin and quiet, and was nearly unheard in the crowd, but she did her best to try to speak as loudly as she could into the microphone. "Umm... Hello. My name is Odessa Nevere. I'd like to say... it's nice to meet all of you! I.. can't speak for everyone, but I would like to say that I'm really happy that you guys decided to come here and talk to us. It means a lot to those like me who love learning about new cultures. So thank you for taking the time to come here!"

She drew in a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. "Secondly, I'd like to say that I'm sorry for what has transpired over the loss of your stones, I know it can't be easy to lose children." She chewed on her lip gingerly. "I know, personally, what it's like to lose someone that's cared about." She felt herself nervously twirling the end of her hair. "I... I know it's been said, but this is a place of diverse people and beliefs, I know that everything that has transpired thus far isn't as calm as it should be. Perhaps I should have spoken up before now, I know that now... I just... get shy." She tried her best to make her voice more pronounced. "Please, don't hold it against everyone just because a few people are having a hard time getting used to the cultural differences. I know there are many of us, myself included, that would love to learn more about all of you and learn what your culture entails without judgement... if you'd allow it?"

Not responding to the topic of the Hallows anymore, fair enough. She too wasn't wanting to talk about it anymore. It had caused them quite a bit of grief, and possibly cause them to loose these dear children that had been left here in the Below, and a possible alliance with these interesting people. Now was the time to try and mend the wounds ", Yes, we all heard what you said. Please though, give us a second chance," despite being a normally emotionless shell, she did show some sadness as to what was happening, recalling the recent events tat had befallen them ", Like the geist says, we have all just made it through a tragic event. There are even a few who's lives will never be the same because of it. This temper of all ours is not a normal thing. Any hostility is in part partially because of what happened. The only reason we even found the stones was because of what happened. We do apologize," She wasn't sure if she should mention what had happened, like the death that had befallen quite a few, or the major injuries inflicted upon them, or their fellow students...

She leaned her head down as to have her hair cover her eyes even more, a few tears escaping. She never liked to show weakness, but what had happened was truly a nightmare come true ", Please... we are better than what you have seen today. I would of never of left the Above if those down in the Below were hot tempered to change."

Nyria smiled, glad that Icarus wanted to take her up on the party, especially with the way that the conversation was devolving. It actually made her slightly sad, she was hoping that she may have made a new friend and a group of people she could entertain. She wasn't sure she could do much more to help change the tone of the conversation. "I would love to share recipes and good food! I'm sure all of you would be great company." She flashed a smile, a pointed tooth or two showing.

She looked at Cillian and the Lunar Cherub, she hadn't meant to leave them out of the conversation. "If the two of you aren't as fond of parties, what do you like to do for fun? I'd love to make something to welcome all of you just as equally." She knew this was off of topic now that things had gone so awry. It was a sad thing too, she thought her conversation with Icarus was going so well at first.

She really didn't want to add too much to the current topic, being that in some ways it was better to forget a squabble and move on, but she was afraid that they really were going to leave at this point. "I'm... not really all that great with confrontation, admittedly." She began. "I'd much rather be having fun and good conversation, and that is definitely something I would wish to convey with all of you. However, I do find that not everyone gets along as well as others do. It's bound that you're going to find at least a few people who disagree with the way you do things, but that is what makes everyone unique. I do hope that these disagreements can eventually be put aside so that everyone can grow and become better people. That said, I do apologize for any stress this has caused all of you. I really do wish that we could have good relations, and if there is anything I could do to that end, I would without a second thought. I want all of you to feel welcomed and happy while here!"

Iria had remained quiet as the others spoke, and oh boy, did they speak. They were making a right a** of themselves, at least a few. Quietly, the hallowed hybrid sighed as another hallowed hybrid misunderstood a comment and let loose a flurry of comments. That, alone, should be a clue to the representatives just what sort of life and treatment hallowed get. As much as the other denizens of the below were trying to paint their home as a paradise of free love and acceptance, it still had its faults. Major faults that were alive and well in the underbelly.

Shame no one wanted to bring that up.

Approaching the front, Iria raised her hand and spoke, "This question might be a bit... from the left considering the current trend in topics," she gave them a wry smile, "But I believe you said you are from Elysium, no? If I am not mistaken, Elysium is an elven city. Were the elves aware of you there? Or was your illusion magic in place to disguise yourself as elves?"

That seemed a little extreme. Daily illusion to look and act as an elf? Especially since the Solar Cherub, Icarus, was quiet petite. Elves usually were taller than that. The strain of keeping such a magical facade up around elves seemed... Insane. Too much for a normal day dream or nightmare to accomplish.

Jet took no offence. He had not decided to attend in order to make friends, and honestly shared the sentiment. If everyone was so worried about getting their feelings hurt, they should have stayed home. Of course, the same rule applied to their hosts. If they had expected anything less than a messy introduction as long as they were dealing with the general public, they were fooling themselves. A clash in culture was almost guaranteed to ignite tempers.

“Cultural differences aside, what do you feel you have to offer to the Below? In terms of technology, goods, services, et cetera.” Jet directed the air with his pen. He continued, “And what, if anything, do you feel that we can offer you?” He was operating on the hope that the cherubs and Slaugh would keep their doors open, if only a crack. Should they choose to close them entirely, he might as well pack up and return home.

Daedalus had been listening intently, his hands folded on the table before him, perfectly still. He had listened to the proclamations, at first idle enough, then the direct questioning of their beliefs, finally the outrage that followed. He felt the enthusiasm and curiosity of his companions ebbing, distrust and keen disappointment darkening their hearts.

Still, he had merely listened and said nothing. Nestled in between his Tempest counterpart, Icarus, and his Sluagh friend, Cillian, he seemed a small and nearly unnoticable third wheel.

Until he spoke.

With a steady, silken gesture, he spread his hands, leaning forward to speak into the microphone placed in front of him. "I see before me a diverse and varied crowd. Many of you hailed from other places, other cultures before you came to this...Academy, this place of learning." He paused, letting the somnolent tones of his voice echo away on the speakers that directed his words into the centre of the hall. "To co-exist peacefully, there must reign a spirit of cooperation, a desire to understand each other. To look into the face of an Elf, a Baphoment, a Naiad...you are looking upon generations of tradition and capacity, yet I see this has not divided you here. Each race possesses different aptitudes, and through that spirit of cooperation, you have built a shining beacon in the middle of our world.

"We left our city with the hope for a return to the world, not under the impression that our history would be returned to us, but to forge a promising future. For the Sluagh to finally have their place in society, free and capable as any student at this school. For the Cherub Solars to bring forth their skills, their dedication, their piety to ensure a safe space for any who wish to turn their mind to the higher ideals of light. For the Cherub Lunars to step out from our shadows and improve and streamline the mechanisms behind your seamless society."
His bright glance fell on a vibrant red member of the crowd. He did not accuse, but he saw deeply. His next words seemed especially pointed. "You ask what good we can add to your society. We, who have survived genocide and war, passing unnoticed by any detection. If we have managed to evade your best magics and anthropologists, it seems clear we possess knowledge and secrets that have not even been conceived among you."

Daedalus turned to his companions, still speaking loudly enough for the microphone to carry forth his words, but speaking nonetheless as if the rest of the room had ceased to be occupied. "Such a transition would be as jarring to our people as it would be to these Below-worlders. A full opening of our borders seems both imprudent and dangerous. This calls for a subtler hand. If I may suggest..." He paused for a moment, waiting for their nods to continue. "I suggest an exchange. We can hold applications for those wishing to come back with us to Elysium and represent a cultural attaché to learn and better understand the harmony we have wrought for our people. In exchange, we can permit a small delegation to attend this institution, and--should it truly be committed to learning--they may represent our culture and our people's skills in full form. Volunteers, only. We should not force a merger if it is not mutually beneficial."

Then he sat back, his conclusions left hanging subtly in the air. There was an air of finality about him as he folded his hands again, as if the final decision meted out here did not concern him.

Chaesh blinked, and then stepped forward, waiting their turn for an opening to speak. "Excuse me. I... formulated my argument before you spoke, Daedalus, and I truly appreciate your stance– and I agree completely with the notions of cultural exchange. Firstly, I would like to apologize for some of the rash and intolerant reactions on the behalves of our more rash and politically polarized individuals.

Some things, I think, have been badly-phrased on both parts, due to the sensitive nature of some of the questions asked. Some people here feel very strongly, and none of us had to be vetted in order to come to this presentation– you have seen some of our worst. At the same time, though, finding out about your laws was initially shocking, and comes at a time where we are celebrating a festival of love of all kinds– it seemed antithetical to some at first, I'm sure, and will always to some others. We're so much more than that– than intolerance and hatred. This is a festival and a time of sharing love– and relating to each other through common ground. I'd suggest that instead of a conference hall full of random strangers, that you take tours through the festival, through the school grounds, see our art and our reports, and try to see if cultural exchange is something that may be worthwhile.

"Smaller events... like the party that was suggested earlier, or something quieter like an assemblage of the families and maybe the board that homed them... those can be far less incendiary than large ones, especially a large event like this where anyone could come in, and where things are clearly unfamiliar and very wont to spur a far stronger reaction than something presented by our governing bodies, together. I implore you to look at us in our natural settings– at scholars in schools, at debaters in conference halls, at everyday citizens and children conducting their everyday business. I certainly hope that in a span of an hour or two, that your minds could not have been made entirely, and I hope that we have a chance to show you a better side than this militant disregard for the clearly sound and necessary historical reasoning behind your laws and traditions. Daedalus, your idea on cultural exchange is something that truly would allow those among us who were most willing to explore and learn and be proven wrong to bring back knowledge, and to help contextualize it to our people back home."

That was a lot to say. A small pause, to let them consider, with a hand up so people would know she wasn't finished, just allowing time to digest.

"Secondly, I understand that the stones were stolen from you. And while that act of theft was not the fault of Below– as you have said– and is an internal matter that you will deal with, the act has doubtless still come to harm the individuals whom the stones were taken from. When they were awakened, or even beforehand, there was no way for us to know whose they may have been, or what races may have come forth from them. They were placed in homes beforehand, by people who study and evaluate potential homes and parents to make sure adoptees are given the best start to life possible, and who would have certainly been screened to ensure that they had no obvious biases against any of the races we had been aware of at the time.

"It's truly unfortunate, and I'm not trying to argue that point! It's just... they have families now, that you would be taking them away from by doing that. They've already got personalities emerging, and they've had time to bond with their families, and their families care about them. Perhaps, if you decide you need to consider removing them from their homes, you'd enjoy the ability to have a quiet get-together with the families, to get to know them and their stances, and to see whether such a step would be necessary from there? I'm certain my father, at the least, would extend an invitation as soon as he found out. Or perhaps the adoptive families could meet up with the rightful parents of the stone.

As such, I'd like invite you all to my family home, and I would also like to be the first to volunteer for the cultural exchange."

It was nice to hear the other cherub speak. Jet had begun to suspect that he was just there for show—that or he had fallen asleep with his eyes open. Now however it was clear that Daedalus had been listening and absorbing. He spoke directly and without temper, though not without passion. It was probably the best and most informative response they had been given thus far and well worth the wait.

When he had finished notating the response Jet snapped his notebook shut. “Thank you.” he said, leaning into the microphone. He backed up to let someone else have the floor. The cherub had proposed an interesting idea, one that answered his next question: whether or not the cherub and sluagh intended to keep their doors open to visitors. Assimilation was not out of the question yet. People would just need to keep their heads screwed on.

Lotte was enjoying the festivities wondering into this spectral. before couldn't believe her eyes. How curious... All these new races popping out from the woodwork. And they were all so cute! The Cherubs were so small and they enjoyed parties? The hallowed knew she needed to get to know them and take them out. Though as they answered the crowds questioning, a frown became even more present on her features. She crossed her arms at the talk of the hallowed and while they had nothing against them, it still stung. With a stone that she would awaken any day now in her thoughts, she could only feel hurt by their comments. Did that mean her passing on her hallowed genes was a bad thing to them?

She shook this thought from her mind, instead, focusing on the lunar cherub that began to speak. She nodded slowly, some points were good. "I think an exchange would be an excellent idea, I know I'd personally love to go, but how long would it be? What do you hope that we learn from each other in that time?" She would love to go but she couldn't leave Harpie, Piper, and Target by themselves. Maybe they could come along too?
