Good, everyone made it across the bridge just fine. And it looks like we were able to take out a couple of the walkways too. All that's left is to just fend off what few Grimm can reach us, then head back home. Elliot thought to himself, pretty happy with the success of their plan. "Good job guys, now let's-" Elliot's words were cut off by the arrival of two Griffons, something that many of the people present began pointing out as the two, large Grimm circled above the group of students. Alright, well... this is a little bit troublesome. I don't have any kind of range at all. Maybe I really should have taken those dust lessons from sis back at Patch. Elliot thought to himself, sudden regret coming over him as he watched the two flying creatures circle. "Well, I don't know about you guys but I'd have to wait until one came swooping down at me. Then I'd punch it in the beak, probably." Elliot stated, as that was his only real plan for something like that. It was then that some slight idea crossed Elliot's mind as he looked up towards the Griffons.

"Opal, that thing you did to the Ursa. Do you think you can do it to those two Griffons? That scream looked like it stopped them for a little bit. If you can get them to stop moving, even for a second, I'm sure Hildr can hit her shot. Or if any of you have anything that can slow them down or stop them from moving for a split second, I'm sure that would work." Elliot asked around, trying to get some sort of help from the people around him. After all, he hardly knew any of them or what sort of powers they had. All he really knew was that Hildr's weapon had various forms, Opal could scream loudly, and Carmine used a sword and shield. Everyone else was pretty much a mystery to Elliot. "Once that's done, I think it'd be best to try and sepa-" Once again, Elliot was cut off mid-sentence. Only this time it was by something large knocking into him and sending him flying onto one of the walkways leading to the opposite side of the ruins they were at. Honestly, it knocked the wind out of him for a couple seconds before he picked himself back up.

Looking back towards Carmine and the others, he noticed that there was something large and chitinous crawling up from the underside of the ruins. "That, I've never seen one of those things before!" Elliot shouted to the group as a large, black and white spider Grimm crawled up to tower over Carmine, whom had been running at the front with Elliot earlier. "Spiders, Spiders." Elliot muttered, staring at the large creature. "Carmine! Hit it really hard and pull it over here if you can!" Elliot shouted, trying to get Carmine to keep the large Grimm away from the others so that they could focus on the two flyers. Whatever this Grimm was, it was probably about as tough as one of those Griffons. They would probably need four people to deal with just it alone. He, however, did not know enough about the other people to get them to help out... except for two of them. "New plan! Hildr, Opal! Can you guys come hit the spider really hard with us!?" Elliot called out to them, hoping that they would offer some sort of assistance to him and Carmine. "Can you four handle the Griffons!?" he called out to Noir, Mauve, Sage, and Crimson, wondering if they would be alright in that regard. Overall, he was just hoping they could make it out alive at this point.

(And now we must split off into groups of four!)

β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–± Carmine couldn't help but smile at Elliot's light-hearted goading in what could be a stressful situation. She spun on her heel before trailing behind him. "Alright, but don't be surprised if I overtake you!" she teased in return, though she had no intention of doing anything of the sort. It's not as though she knew the way to the ruins. How lucky of them that he spotted the place after being launched. Normally, Carmine was on top of those sorts of things. Keeping close to Elliot, she'd glance behind her every once in a while to keep an eye on the state of her comrades and the grimm following behind. "Heheh, totally! This is a great place to let loose!" she agreed, vaulting over a large patch of brush. The flora here was very similar to what she'd grown up with on Patch.

When they reached the ruins, Carmine's eyes lit up. They were much larger than the ones where the relics had been held, and the way this structure was built was pretty impressive. It was a shame that they had to destroy architecture so interesting. Could this plan simply be chalked up to Elliot's destructive nature? The thought brought her back to the crushed boulders and crumbled cliff sides. It's not as though anyone else had mentioned a solid plan thus-far, so perhaps this was their only option. With a glance back over to Opal, she was lucky enough to be just in time to catch the young faunus's semblance. A loud scream emanated from her, carrying an almost unnatural volume to it. The sound was enough to stop a small group of Ursa completely in their tracks. Turning back to the way ahead, a small smile played across her lips. A slight sense of pride crept its way through her.

The walkways crumbled beneath the power of their teamwork. Unfortunately, this success was only met with more interruption. What's with this infestation? Griffons?! As far Carmine was aware, those were pretty rare grimm. The creatures were in the range of her hand cannon, so she was already taking aim at one of them as Elliot threw out some ideas of a strategy. Carmine was considering opening fire when a weird scuttling noise caught her attention. Turning a big too late, the creature behind said scuttling knocked the young man with whom she was paired some distance away. "Elliot!" What kind of grimm was this?! She'd never seen or heard of it before. The fact that its form was that of a spider was a little eerie. It didn't seem to take her comrade too much time to recovery, already back up and giving her suggestions to pull such a huge creature from the other students. While 'hit it really hard' was kind of a gimme, she understood the incentive behind the request. "Right!" was all she let out before using her shield as a springboard once again, launching herself up toward the new enemy.

This thing was huge. Up to a point, being able to take on a new type of grimm was exciting. This, however, was still a grimm and a big one at that. I've gotta focus. If there's anything I can do with this thing, it's piss it off! "Hyaaa!" As she landed onto the creature's back, she plunged her short sword into its carapace. The spider grimm screeched in pain as she unloaded half a round into it with her pistol. It began to wriggle underneath her, signaling the appropriate time to exit. The young huntress freed her weapon from its chitin, simultaneously back-flipping toward where Elliot had ended up. All the while, Carmine kept its focus on her, firing the rest of her loaded ammo. When she landed, Skolda was once again sheathed and Tyrfing returned to its preferred saber shape. The pose she took next was a defensive one, sword ready, shield in front, in case her new friend decided to charge. If this had been a grimm with which Carmine was more familiar, perhaps she would've stuck around with it to deal more damage or taken a more offensive position. She was with friends, however, fellow warriors she did not want to endanger with her usual barrage tactics. "Well, we'll certainly have its attention..."

"I'll protect everyone including you. Nothing is going to get in the way of that, not even me." β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°

                                      • spaceOpal was waiting for their next plan of movements when a loud cawing came from overhead. She heard a few others mention Griffons, and she was slightly shocked. What was with these Grimm? She was in the process of switching her weapon type over when Elliot called out to her, telling her to use her semblance again. "You got it!" She called back to him. Opal planted her javelin in the ground, rearing back to let out another scream, but an ancient Grimm crawling up from the cavern below shocked her into silence. It quickly headed for Elliot and Carmine, and it chose to hit Elliot back a few meters. She had never seen one of these before... what was it? She looked over to Hildr with an expression mixed between worry and intrigue, before she started to run over to the pair fighting the giant arachnid. Part of her wanted to complete her task of paralyzing the Griffons, but she had faith in her peers' abilities, whatever they may be.

spaceAs the distance between them closed, Opal got to watch Carmine in action from a bit of a distance. The other girl's skill with her sword and shield was quite impressive, and her ease of switching between weapons was something to write home about. They were like extensions of Carmine's body, not solitary objects. A smirk formed on Opal's face at the thought of fighting something new together. Not just with Carmine, which was a plus on its own, but with a team. The redhead looked back briefly to make sure Hildr was close behind; another strong ally. All of that paired with Elliot's leadership and his brute fighting style, the four of them should easily be able to take the beast out. Once Carmine landed near Elliot again, slugging round after round into the spider grimm, the raven haired boy called out another set of instructions. Opal called out, "Done!" She focused her attention as they finished closing in on the creature, still preoccupied by Carmine and Elliot.

spaceWhen the others were ready to attack, the redhead picked up her speed a bit and stuck her javelin into the ground ahead of her, vaulting through the air towards the spider grimm. While she was in the air, she shifted her javelin into its gauntlet form. She peeked at what was loaded in the blaster of her gauntlet and saw it was a burn dust cartridge. Good, she could work with that. The faunus flipped herself forward to gain momentum as she cocked her arm back and brought it back to slam into the center of the spider beast's back, a burst of flames tracing a circle all the way around its abdomen.

Mauve didn't take his gaze away from the grimm above them when Crimson asked him and Sage about their range. "Well, yeah, but-" They look like they'd just resort to aerial maneuvers if they started taking damage at range. Simply shooting them wouldn't be as effective as it seemed. What they had to do was slow them down a notch. Elliot getting cut off was enough to get Mauve to turn around... only to be met with another unfamiliar grimm. What the hell is that!?! "Yeah, sure. Just leave these guys to us..." the purple haired boy responded to whether or not they could take out the griffons. So that's what they were called... Mauve turned to Sage with a wondering expression. "Sage! Can you make both of us light?" As he asked this, Oriphiel split apart to become two hand axes rather than the assault rifle. He swung 'em around in his hand a few times. Crimson and dark-and-brooding seemed to have more raw power than the two dual-wielders in this group. They were gunna need heavy hitters if this was going to work. "The other two could launch us up there with the flats of their swords so we can clip these guys' wings!" While this was mostly directed to Sage, Mauve made sure he was loud enough so the other armor-clad members of their group could hear and be caught up. Once they fell toward the ruins, all four of them could light into the two grimm. If Sage agreed, this would be easy.

"Crimson! Grimm Whisperer! How's your swing?" If this all worked out, then Mauve and Sage could be launched by Crimson and Noir respectively, allowing the two boys to clip the griffons' wings and bring them down to their level if not fall from the ruins completely. He grinned toward his partner, a sort of "it'll be okay" look. "As soon as they hit the ground will be the opportune time to lay into them," the boy stated, implying his dark haired and female companion be prepared to take the preemptive strike. Had they all agreed to the plan, then Mauve would hop up as to where Crimson could throw him. While he hadn't seen her combat abilities so far, he had faith in her. It's not like she could get into Beacon if her only talent was tripping over foliage. The griffons wouldn't just sit there, of course. Mauve's would attempt to charge him before the kid rolled midair and slash up the creature's wings, causing it to plummet to the ruins below. If they all weren't on the same page, there wasn't anything stopping him from jumping up the ruins and trying to get to one of the griffon's wings himself with a "no worries". Either way, this grimm was going down.

                                        • spaceAfter Sage's question, everything seemed to happen at once. The group remarked on the Griffons, the walkways crashed to the cavern floor, and an arachnid grimm crawled up from the depths. Had they disturbed something so ancient? Sage had only read about Orbweavers and seen them illustrated in old books back home. The Grimm had gone after Elliot, leaving the other three on that end no choice but to run and help fight it. His attention was drawn back to the situation in front of him, though, when Mauve called out his name. He looked at purple-haired boy and nodded sharply, giving the other a small grin, "I can handle that. What are you planning?" Sage was interested in Mauve's battle plan, giving him a curious look as the other shifted his weapon and continued. So, that was it then? The knight casted his gaze up at the Griffons, then, eyeing them as they continued to circle, clearly getting restless. It was a good plan. Once the two were in the air, he wouldn't need to keep his semblance activated for too long, so he would at least be able to run after. He turned his eyes back to Mauve and nodded once again, his smile growing a little larger.

space"That sounds like a good plan to me. Nice thinking. Noir," Sage turned to his partner and grinned, "you ready to do this?" He entirely assumed Noir would be into this plan. If he knew anything about his teammate, it was that he was strong enough to make this happen. The knight spun his dual scythes back around, blades forward, ready to be launched and slash at the their aerial foes. He looked towards Crimson as well and to her leg. Despite that, Sage didn't doubt her abilities, though he hadn't seen them yet. He wasn't the type to discredit others, though. He holstered his scythes for the moment and grabbed one of Mauve's hands and one of his battle axes, activated his semblance, "Once you're in the air, you'll have about twenty seconds of staying light, then you'll regain your normal weight." He warned the other briefly before letting go of his arm and ax. He readied himself to run, giving himself a little weight as his foot dug into the ground beneath him, then he took off alongside Mauve.

spaceThey ran to their respective partners and were launched into the air, Sage making himself lighter as he jumped off the ground. Mauve's semblance-induced weight would have stayed light the entire run, as Sage can't alter density without physically touching another. Sage drew his scythes upside down, barrels pointing at one of the Griffons, firing off two rounds with fire dust to get its attention drawn to him. The last thing they wanted was someone flying aimlessly through the air while the other was dealing with two griffons in their airspace. The shot creature let out a shrill caw and flew towards Sage, its mouth wide open. Sage altered his weight to be slightly lighter and he dropped in the air, winding up underneath the beast as it flew over him. The knight rotated his blade forward and sunk both of them into one of the Griffon's wings. It let out another shrill screech as it went plummeting to the ground, Sage soon to follow as his semblance broke. When he hit the ground a few yards away from the injured Grimm, Sage rolled and came to a halt in a sort of lunge, turning in time to see Crimson and Noir take the battle into their hands.

~The Heiress to Nihility and Hyperbole~

Crimson quickly caught onto what her leaders plan was, and took a bit of a crouching knee, with the sword over her shoulder flat, she turned her back to the two who would attack, and gave a nod as they charged forward. She didn't know who it was that leaped up onto her sword but they didn't seem too heavy. Especially considering her whole body quickly found a red aura like wrap around her, and with their feet touching the flat side of her blade, she gave a loud yell, digging her armoured feet into the ground and pulling down and forward on her sword, as it catapulted upwards her teammate. "HHIIIYAAAAAAA!" The sheer force of it flung her forward and she landed on her front hard before getting up, the red aura around her, not only her leg, but now bright, very bright around her shoulders and lower neck.

Slouching and gasping for air as she focused her red like protection to specific parts of her body before looking to the two griffons that came crashing down. Readying her high guard stance, she quickly seized the moment and began forward with heavy steps, dropping to one knee as she used her shoulder again to sort of pinwheel her sword down with both arms, giving a perfect downward slice into the griffons neck. Her sword ripped through and dug itself into the ground, as the first griffon collapsed. Before changing her stance and pivoting on her heels to withdraw and pull the sword out, giving a quick whirl of the blade and coming to another high guard stance and readying for the next griffon, hoping that the fourth member of this group of four would be able to drop it.

Noir Alcott

Noir nodded to the others as the plan was going smoothly. The beopup was still holding onto him during the whole thing as the ruins fell onto the path and all. He sighed in relief, seeing that it worked he then made a smile seeing everything will be fine. Until he heard caws in the sky seeing the griffin grimm's in the sky.

He looked up and started to realize something, "I should have scene this coming. Nothing is ever easy." He then got ready for their attack as one was shot at while the other was still flying. However, a new issue came and it was a larger problem then a few griffins was spider grimm. The plan made by Elli wanted myself, my partner, Crim and Mau to fight the Griffin. He could only nod and said with a grin, "You got it, lets get those flying buzzards." He then got ready to kill the griffin as Sage flew right to one of them and knocked it down to ground level as sage planned out and told him, "You got it, not knock that birdbrain down."

When it got to ground level, he began his attack as he put the fire dust into his sword and began his assault against it. However, just because it could not fly, it didn't mean it could not defend itself. It blocked the first strike with it's front right claw and cawed at Noir, but didn't see the pup coming as it started to claw its eyes. It tossed Noir away as it tried to reach for the pup with its left claw, however it didn't see Noir come running to cut its left claw right off, saving the pup as it climb right back onto his back and he said to the pup, "Hold on little buddy, this fight is going to get rough." It yipped in agreement as the creature looked at them with anger, wanting them dead as it stared at them with its red eyes. It most definitely wants the beopup dead due to it attacked its face.

It seemed like everyone had their roles figure out after the little.... hiccup. Elliot was not expecting whatever this thing was, yet that did not really seem to affect him much in terms of strategy. Yes, that was because Elliot lacked any strategy at all, and he was simply going with his gut feeling in regards to everything! Looks like everyone's got some good moves. We might be able to push this thing back, and the other group looks like they've got those Griffons handled. Elliot thought to himself, watching as Carmine leaped over to wear he was after stabbing the creature and blasting it with some dust cartridges. Next up was Opal, and she seemed to be trying to do something similar with her attack, stabbing into the creature's abdomen and sending it into fits of anger and pain. Yeah... we might just have this... All I gotta do is test something out... He thought to himself, crouching low to the ground before taking off in a full sprint. "You wanted to see what I'm made of, right? Let me show ya!" Elliot shouted back to Carmine, sliding just in time to move underneath one of the creature's legs as it swung at him.

For something so big, it's actually pretty quick... and light on its feet. Elliot thought to himself, grabbing a hold of another leg as he slid past it. Using the momentum, he spun around its leg and flung himself into its side. Once on top, he began to pound the creature with his fists, measuring the damage they were doing. "Geez! This thing's got a tough body!" He called out, noticing the lack of damage from his gauntlets. Reeling his arm back, he activated the mechanism in his gauntlet and smacked the creature square in the middle of its body, causing it to falter but not much else. Well, that's that... wait a minute... Elliot thought to himself, looking over at the cracked carapace from where Carmine's sword had been shoved into the Grimm. "Everyone! I think I've got an idea!" He called out to the others, jumping off of the spider and rolling in front of it. "Hey man, think I can get a lift?" He posed a question to it, bending his body back as he dodged a swipe from one of it legs. "Too slow!" He stated, moving to the side quickly as it scuttle to the left and stabbed at him. "That all you got?" He mocked the creature as he vaulted off of its legs, moving between them and around them as it tried to capture its prey. "C'mon, pick up the pace!" Elliot called out one final time, picking up his body and blocking a final swing from the Grimm's leg, allowing himself to be sent flying down the walkway.

"Don't worry we
got this!" Elliot called out as as he flew past Carmine. A simple twist of his body allowed him to catch himself and land, sliding across the walkway as he came to a halt. "Hildr! I need you to freeze its legs to the walkway! Keep it in place as best you can!" He called out to the huntress from Atlas. "Opal! Carve up its face some! Crack the shell, do whatever you can! And make sure you jab your weapon there and leave it when you're done!" Elliot called out to Opal next, and then he crouched and began to dash towards Carmine at full speed. "Mind giving me a boost?" He called out to his friend, moving at an insane speed as he full-out dashed towards he. At the speed he was moving, it was obvious he was trying to do something momentum based, and if she did not boost him up then he might not be able to stop himself from colliding into her. The young man was clearly no longer thinking at all when it came to this fight or safety. "Shield boost!" He called out, jumping up slightly to land on Carmine's shield if she was so kind as to give him the boost he needed.

Once boosted, Elliot would proceed to be propelled through the air towards the upper level of the ruins. I can't believe that actually worked. Guess that goes to show how right your gut feelings usually are! Elliot thought to himself, slamming his fist down into the upper walkway as he passed by it. This, in turn, activated the mechanism and sent a lot of force into the upper-level's walkway, cracking it pretty bad. The result, however, was increased momentum and more acceleration through the sky. "Almost got it!" Elliot shouted as he flew towards the large, central structure. As he neared it, he readied himself and caught hold of the top of it, sliding across it at high speed and barely catching himself at the peak of the structure. "A bit too much I think... Too much speed." He stated, shocked and sort of frightened that he almost flung himself off into the vast cavern on the other side. If he had missed the top of the tower-like structure... then that would have been it. Now... I just gotta wait for the perfect time. He thought to himself, looking down at his friends.

Hildr was still aiming up when Elliot was attacked by a much larger Grimm crawling up the side of the ruins. At first it was just a great mass of darkness from the corner of her eye, but as soon as she heard Elliot call out as his body was thrown across to another part of the ruins she stood up. "Elliot!!" Hildr shouted, seeing him land safely and get back up without too much of a scratch. She looked back at the spider Grimm, she couldn't remember any books that ever mentioned a Grimm like that, she had no idea what they were up against now. This was beyond her training. Hildr instinctively used Herja in sniper mode, unloading bullet after bullet at the Grimm in an attempt to distract it, but her bullets were mostly deflecting off of it's hard carapace. Elliot suggested they all divide up now, and to be honest, Hildr couldn't disagree. Equally they could probably deal with the griffons and the spider Grimm separately.

As Carmine charged and launched herself with her shield up towards it. Hildr began running forwards towards the beast as Carmine buried her blade into it's back, unloading some bullets into it at the same time with a war cry. As Carmine got to work on it's head, Hildr slid beneath the creature, slashing several time at it's limbs as she passed beneath it to it's behind. As Carmine jumped off, Hildr realised she was going to be alone and quickly jumped backwards to create some distance, The Grimm writhed in some pain, but quickly recovered, chattering and moving it's limbs around. She saw a broken tower near to her, and after quickly evaluating a ledge she jumped. Once on it, she used Herja to help give herself a higher jump to land on the half-demolished tower between herself and the rest of her team. From here she could have some range and evaluate what was going on whilst Elliot gave the orders.

Elliot took another go at sliding through it's legs, attacking it similarly to what she did. But with his fist weapons it proved to be a resilient... bug? Hildr was wowed at how fluent he was to dodging attacks, and furthermore using the limbs to climb onto the Grimm's body. At the mention of a new idea Hildr quickly listened. Mid-sentence he was thrown away, comically flying past Carmine as he even still continued to call out his plan. Hildr could've shouted his name, but she could tell he had this, getting himself back to being steady rather quickly further down the walkway. At mention of conducting a team attack, Hildr nodded again and said "right!" In just a moment she was flipping Herja in her hand, spinning it whilst holding onto the lever that doubled as a trigger. She quickly pressed Herja against her shoulder and aimed down the scope that unfolded. She had the Grimm in it's sights. With a click of her mechanism the Ice Dust loaded into Herja. Before anyone could get too close to the Grimm again, Hildr pulled her trigger. The first bullet soared across the gap and closed in on it's target, a sparkling, white-blue bolt of dust. As it hit it's mark the spider's limb was covered at one joint in shards of ice. With another breath Hildr pulled the trigger and the same happened again and again until she had ice locking down half of it's limbs, the others were proving difficult to see from here. With it's movement impeded, she stood up and saw Elliot flying upwards in an arc towards the top of the tower above them. Meanwhile Opal was going at it on the slowed spider Grimm, which was relentlessly trying to use it's frozen joints.

Hildr looked down at the dust compartment of Herja, and only one quarter of the ice dust was there now, same with the air dust that she had used to get around a lot. "I need to be more careful with my dust..." she said to herself, quickly coming back to the battle as she looked up to see Elliot barely catch the top of the tower. Watching as the Grimm was being battled,s he couldn't wait here for it's carapace to weaken, so she decided to join in with the rest of her temporary team as Elliot waited for an opening. Quickly she jumped from her tower and back onto the bridge, running as fast as she could until finally reaching it. "Opal! Carmine!" Hildr called from behind, swinging Herja into spear mode. "I'll flank" she said, passing the two of them as she slid beneath the creature just like last time. This time it was much easier too, noting which limbs were weakened and how it couldn't strike for her as much. As she reached it's abdomen she turned her body, coming to a skidding stop on her knee and foot as she swung her spear around her neck. It circled around her shoulders once and did a full rotation as it shifted and changed. Looking up she saw the Grimm's back end above her, NOW she thought, gripping both ends of her now transformed Herja as it now swung to be equally over each shoulder. With her arms crossed she swung out in an X above her and pulled Herja into two swords. She felt the force of it's carapace deflect some of her damage, but she could tell sharp weapons were better than blunt trauma. At her sides Herja had become two separate blades with the two dust cartridges between them. One sword having Ice, the other, Air.

The Grimm them struck out with one of it's legs, pushing her backwards across the bridge but she plunged her blades into the ground to slow herself down. Now with some space between them she jumped and spun like a pencil, coming down onto the ground with her Ice Dust loaded weapon. A ethereal slash of cold dust then unleashed across the bridge, coming to strike the Grimm again and further immobilise it by sticking it's abdomen down. "Done!" Hildr shouted half to herself and half to the others. She knew she hadn't managed to do much damage, but she never really cared about brute force or killing something with sheer strength. As long as she could be precise and help her teammates, she was more than happy. For now... she waited, ever patient and watchful. Praying that her semblance should be far, far from activating after all of this freezing.

((Hope this was okay, i wanted to show Hildr off a little ^_^))

                                      • spaceOpal continued her onslaught on the beast's back for a moment before it tried using a frozen appendage to smack her off, to no avail. Hildr, Carmine, and Elliot had done a number on the thing's mobility, giving her opportunity to stay on its back. She would switch between balancing and running around to attack different spots, trying to deal heavy hits of damage so the others could figure out any possible weak spots. The redhead was repeatedly slamming her gauntlet into the arachnid's back, only pausing to laugh out loud when she heard Elliot teasing the creature and successfully distracting it from the girls. Evidently, he had another idea, and Opal was open to whatever he had planned. Thus far, all of Elliot's ideas had worked out in their favor. She wasn't about to start doubting him now. Her head popped up when she heard Elliot's voice shrinking as he was knocked back by one of the beast's working limbs. For a moment, she was knocked off balance as the spider bucked, causing her to trip and roll back down the creature's back. She tried to dig her gauntlet into its back to slow herself down, but there was nothing to grab onto, and its skin was rock hard. The faunus rolled off the back of the beast and fell to the ground, landing on one knee and immediately jumping up to sprint around its more damaged side, avoiding any hits that would follow her landing.

spaceShe ran around the side so she could see Carmine and Elliot as he called out to Hildr and Opal, dolling out orders and looking rather excited about the intense battle they were in. Opal gave a sharp nod and locked eyes with Carmine for a moment, smirking as if to say "We got this". Soon, Elliot would be launched into the sky by Carmine, barely grabbing hold of the tower he was sent to. She was in between her teammates and the spider Grimm now, watching it writhe as it desperately tried to move its limbs. She was running back and forth to keep it from trying to move forward at all. As she was dodging hits, Opal heard Hildr running up before she saw the girl. The valkyrie called out to her and Carmine, prompting a "Got it!" from the redhead. Hildr slid gracefully beneath the creature again, hacking into the beast's abdomen. Remembering their separate orders, Opal focused and quickly shifted her dust cartridges so gravity dust could be used; it was more than half empty, but she didn't need it for long. She just knew that she didn't need to be on the bridge when Hildr froze it over. The faunus waited until one of the spider's working limbs charged at her again and she threw her fist into the air, gravity dust yanking her up onto the limb. She ran up the length of its leg until she was close to the creature's horrid face. Doing this, she made sure to keep herself visible to Carmine, at least, so the other girl could deal out her own attacks after launching Elliot off. Them double teaming the beast with heavy attacks should keep it distracted from Hildr and Elliot.

spaceOpal scowled when she met the beast's eyes, musing to herself how disgusting the Grimm was, "You picked the wrong kids to mess with." She cranked her arm back again, pulling herself higher into the air so she could come down on its head with a forceful hit and a battle cry. A loud crack resonated through the air as white chips of its mask splintered off into the air. The momentum of her hit sent her back on its abdomen a few feet, but she skidded to a stop just in time to gain her balance as the creature screeched and bucked. After a moment, though, the bucking stopped and she heard Hildr call out that her job was done, "Heard!" She looked to her gauntlet; there was about a fourth of gravity dust left is her reserves. It was enough to get into the air, but not enough to safely get her down. Oh well. The redhead punched herself up and away from the Grimm into the air, shifting Andraste into its javelin form when she was high enough. She used the last stocks of her gravity dust to boost her javelin at the weak spot on the creature's back, the sharp end sinking deeper into the beast and creating a larger target. She began to drop quickly, then, planning to land on her hip and shoulder so she could roll with the momentum. It was an idealistic thought. Opal slammed into the ground rather unceremoniously, unable to roll and instead her hip and shoulder absorbed the impact. A pained groan heaved from her chest, but she still mustered up the strength to let out a five second scream, careful to only aim for the portion that Carmine wasn't potentially near. It didn't paralyze the spider the same with it did the Ursi, but the four limbs she could immediately see ceased to move. When her screech stopped, a purple wave passed over her and broke, signaling her depleted aura, and she lost consciousness as her head rolled back onto the ground.

β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–±β–°β–± This thing was obviously not going down without a fight. That was fine. A tough enemy is a satisfying enemy, after all. This range was a good opportunity to reload, especially with Elliot dashing off toward the arachnid grimm, calling back to her. "Heh... You better not disappoint!" she shouted back as her hands moved quickly to reload both her shield and her primary. All the while, she kept her emerald eyes on her friend, not wanting to miss a second of the action. He moved swiftly through the monster's legs, taunting it as he darted back and forth before taking a shot at it from it's back as she had just a moment ago. The force from his punches, from his descriptions, should've been doing a bit more to the creature than simply staggering it for a moment. Weird... On the bright side, it seemed Elliot was all set with yet another idea before being flung down the walkway toward Carmine. She actually had to step out of the way to avoid becoming his crash cushion, smiling slightly at his antics. Well, at least he's alright, she thought, pushing back her bangs with a free hand. The idea he mentioned early, as he was calling out now, sounded pretty fun.

"Air Hervor, at your service! Please keep your arms and feet inside at all times," she teased to confirm his request. As he took off toward her, Carmine bent down low and held up her shield, prepping for the very moment she felt the force of his weight on its surface. "Go-ing up!" Using her knees to lift the both of them, she jumped in time to propel him into the air and onto the upper section of the ruins. He'd definitely have a better vantage point up there, though she didn't really have a clue where he was going with this plan. Despite that, it was probably best to keep this thing as disoriented as possible. Hildr moved in to freeze the legs, letting Carmine and Opal know that she was flanking the massive grimm. "Alright!" She listened carefully to the familiar clicking sound of her weapon transforming as their pale comrade elegantly and effectively moved in on the creature and froze it in place. Opal took this as her time to strike, dodging through an attack from one of the thing's free legs. Carmine simply provided covering fire, more to serve as a distraction while her partner laid into it. When it reeled in response to the force of the redhead's punch, that was the opportunity to expose its weakpoint. Opal did just that before hitting the walkway hard. With a final impressive use of her semblance, the faunus's aura broke, leaving her open on the ground. A pained gasp passed through Carmine's teeth.

The air cracked off of her flame-colored shield as she slammed on the trigger, using the force of the first three burst shots to fling herself toward her fallen friend. Her face carried a fierce expression. Opal's scream... a semblance that could stop three ursa in their tracks was certainly a force to be reckoned with. It was even powerful enough to keep this thing still. This grimm, however, was none too pleased with her efforts, using all of its strength to lash out at its most recent attacker, only a single leg moving in to pierce. Carmine twisted in the air, throwing her shielded arm to not only block the attack but fired and blew off a small chunk of the leg as well. The force of the recoil sent her directly to the ground where she landed roughly on her knees and moved to grab Opal and get her up out of the way. "Elliot!" The way was clear and between Hildr's ice and Opal's semblance, this spider was going nowhere. If he wanted it pinned and open, this was the time.

Elliot simply watched the fight from above, waiting for an opening to present itself to him. The other seemed to be holding the spider Grimm off pretty well, and they were even performing their jobs quite splendidly. Hildr had managed to freeze its limbs to the walkway without too much trouble, and she succeeded in putting some damage into the creature herself! Meanwhile, Opal seemed to have her job covered as well. She was striking the creature quite a bit and tearing up its carapace for him. All he had to do was wait for her to finish up the Grimm. Looks like we managed to deal with this thing somehow... Elliot thought to himself, watching as Opal threw her javelin into the creature body and hit the ground hard. Then, with the last of her aura, she used her semblance one final time to hit the creature with her scream. Elliot, watching as the young woman's aura shattered, was suddenly overcome with a few memories. His mind wandered back, remembering the most important day in his life.

"Mommy has to go work now. You'll be staying with Glynda for a few days, so don't cause her any trouble, got it?" The cold, depressive voice that he came to recognize as his mother's rang out through the entryway. She had a rather blank expression on her face, but Elliot could tell that she was actually kind of worried about whatever trouble he might get into while she was gone.

"Don't worry so much. It's not like he's going to get into too much in just a few days. Besides, he'll probably just end up whining for you by the third day like last time." Glynda teased Elliot, smirking down at the young boy as she tried to get a reaction from him.

"No I didn't!" The young man protested, clearly not enjoying being teased by his mother's friend. "Just, bring me back something cool this time!" Elliot called out to his mother as he saw a slight smile form on her lips. And, with that, she closed the door behind her. Weeks, months, years it felt like, Elliot sat in front of that door, waiting on his mother to finally show up like she said she would. Many people sat with him in front of that door. Glynda, a blonde woman, a dark-haired woman, a blonde-man, and even some dark-haired man who seemed far too wise for his years. All of them sat with him, tried to cheer him up, and even offered to let him stay with them. Each one sat for days with him, trying to get him to stop waiting on a mother that would never turn up again, one that broke her promise and left him behind for good. Their voices were so distinct... and they echoed out constantly through the entryway as he waited.

"Elliot.""Elliot...?""Elliot...""Elliot?""Elliot."

"Elliot!"

At the sound of Carmine's shout, Elliot's eyes snapped wide open, something dangerous shown within them. Dark emotions began to well up inside of the young man as he stared down at his friends, feelings that he had buried deep inside of him having come back. "Mommy will always be here for you, so don't worry so much." Elliot gritted his teeth, simply dashing forward and running down the side of the tower without a single thought in his head. Something had overcome him, and he clearly was not thinking straight at the moment. "Glynda will take care of you. She's mommy's friend." As he made it down most of the tower, the spider Grimm seemed to have gained a second wind and lifted its legs up with enough force to shatter the ice and send it flying upwards towards the tower the Elliot was running down. Elliot, however, had already vaulted towards the creature from the tower, and he was simply hurtling towards the ice.

That was when something peculiar happened. In a split second, it seemed that golden flecks began to spark up in his eyes, and a dull expression overcame them as he came closer to the icy chunks. In movements that seemed too natural for anyone in his situation, the young man twisted his body and began to use the mechanisms in his gauntlets on the ice chunks. At that point, they became less like dangerous debris and more like platforms to accelerate off of. Each one shattered as he Elliot's gauntlets propelled him forward with more and more speed. In the next second, however, Elliot's eyes were back to normal, almost as if nothing had happened, and he let out a gut-wrenching war-cry. "Raaaaaagh!!!!" Elliot screamed out, the anger inside of his body spilling forward as he slammed his gauntlet down into the javelin Opal had threw into the spider Grimm's carapace. In that one hit, the creature's carapace erupted into hundreds of shards, and then the bridge, which was already dilapidated and frozen, exploded beneath the creature. Elliot and the spider Grimm began to fall into the pit below.

Standing on its back as they fell, Elliot gripped the javelin and pulled it from the still-living creature, looking up towards the walkway. There was a slight chance he could make it back up... but he had to act now. The young man began to jump from debris pieces, slowly making his way back up towards the walkway as they were falling. Something inside of him had snapped, and his emotions were probably getting the better of him at the moment. As he reached the final piece of debris, he took a chance and smashed his gauntlet into it, activating the mechanism and propelling himself far up into the sky from the resulting shockwave. Elliot soared past the walkway and came back down towards it, landing with a roll in front of his allies. Javelin gripped in his right hand and left hand shaking slightly, Elliot simply stared at the ground for a few moments after he got back up to the others. "I'll see you soon." The young man clenched his teeth, trying to ignore the feelings bubbling up from deep within. His mother was gone, and she was never coming back to him.

Everything from then on happened so quickly. Hildr was split up from the rest of her team at the other side of the bridge, not far behind her was the fearsome drop to the bottomless crevasse below. She could imagine the darkness that would swallow her up before inevitably touching ground. The thought sent a chill up her spine and forced her to press on. Now that she had immobilised the spider, Carmine and Opal got to work on causing more damage and preparing for whatever crazy plan Elliot had up his sleeve. Opal let loose a devastating blow onto the Grimm spider, causing it to shriek in pain as it's outer skeleton began to shatter. But then, after leaving her spear firmly in place, Opal was left falling without any kind of way to assure a safe landing. Hildr's heart skipped a beat as suddenly she realised Opal wouldn't touch ground properly. With a thud that even Hildr though she could hear, Opal rolled a little and let out a final shriek with her semblance, doing her best to petrify such a huge critter. "Opal!!!" Hildr shouted, her eyes wide with fear as she saw the girl's aura break. No, no, no. No!" Hildr thought, beginning to breath heavily.

"Somebody has to save them!!!" Hildr shouted, a small, barely teenage version of herself. She could see the building ahead of her, filled with innocent lives, her Semblance going crazy as it caved in beneath the weight of a giant Grimm. But Hildr shook back to reality. Semblance... Semblance! she reminded herself, her semblance wasn't activated, and as she looked up desperately, she noticed Carmine had moved to protect Opal and a colossal sigh of relief escaped Hildr. In that one fleeting moment Hildr felt a sudden surge of compassion and pride. So... this is a team.... if even temporary she thought with a breath, clenching Herja tightly in her hands. For all these years, she wanted to come to Beacon, she wanted to abandon the shackles of Atlas. And here she was, experiencing it all first hand, finally living her dream.

Carmine gave Elliot the OK to go ahead with the plan, and in seconds he was rushing down the side of the tower, faster and faster, letting the momentum build up and take him. The spider then slipped one of it's limbs free, cascading shards of ice in all directions towards Elliot, but as their plan looked like it might fail, he jumped. His body flew through the air in an arc, and as the shards of ice passed him he twirled. She couldn't see anymore detail from here other than the fact the ice grew and became platforms that he helped use to blast off of, throwing him harder and faster, down towards the Grimm. Hildr then thought, she had to plan a route out of here, the impact of Elliot's attack was surely going to decimate the bridge along with the spider. In an instant, the spider collapsed under Elliot's force and it's carapace splintered before exploding. Hildr then felt the force surge through the bridge beneath her, trembling up her legs until they were just vibrations in her hair. She watched the cracks erupt through the bridge and as soon as it all began to fall she jumped. From one falling piece to another, she jumped and sprinted until finally making her way past Elliot. She forced Herja back together and spun it, it shifted and cranked until finally becoming complete and in spear form. She then used the last of her Air Dust to gain enough recoil to blast her way upwards and land on the bridge beside Carmine and Opal with a small role, finally landing on her knee and palm.

"Amazing..." Hildr said, half to herself. She stood up and looked to Carmine, and then to Opal. She'll be alright Hildr reminded herself. She then finally looked to Elliot, who was still staring at the ground, something stirring within his eyes that she couldn't decipher. Her gaze then turned over her shoulder, the air from the crevasse beneath them blowing her cape and hair upwards as she watched the other students in their attack on the griffons.

                                      • space"Opal! Opal, wake up!" the panicked voice of her mother called out to her, over and over, as her strong hands shook the small girl's shoulders. "We don't have time for this. Get up!" Opal was yanked up by her arm, then, gasping as she was dragged along and forced to run. In her other arm was Opal's baby brother, sleeping soundly despite whatever alarmed their mother so fervently. Then, nothing. Just darkness. There was no town, no other people, not even any houses or trees, only... nothing. Despite the trio being utterly alone, Opal still felt scared, like they were being chased. They ran in the pitch black when suddenly a wall of flames circled around them, deafening howls from Beowolves endlessly sounding off. She would come to realize that her mother was no longer holding her hand, she wasn't even there anymore. The small girl fell to her knees and covered her ears, screaming as tears ran down her face. Why was this happening? What...

space"What...?" Opal croaked, still winded from her harsh fall. Her eyes slid open in time to see Elliot slam a mighty hit into Andraste and, in turn, into the arachnid Grimm. The air didn't have time to even think of settling when the Grimm exploded outwards. It was such a strong hit that the bridge crumbled beneath the shock. The redhead saw Hildr approaching her, but didn't have the strength to even turn her head to watch her land safely on the ground. Seeing Hildr and Elliot, but not Carmine, the faunus wondered where her partner might be. They were attacking the spider Grimm together and then... and then, what? The last thing she remembered was throwing her javelin into the Grimm and then... falling, using her semblance, and passing out. So, how did she get to safety? Suddenly, the feeling returned to her body. She hadn't even realized she was numb until then. Opal felt a warm arm circling her back, and a shoulder supporting her head. She turned her eyes up to see waves of white hair, Carmine's face turned to watch Elliot in battle, having evidently moved Opal to safety.

space"Carmine... sorry you had to rescue me," her voice was still a bit strained, and it felt like there were knives in her lungs, "I'm thankful you're my partner." She raised a fist and gingerly hit is against Carmine's shoulder, letting it rest there as a sign of gratitude and solidarity. Carmine was an exceptional teammate, as were Elliot and Hildr, and Opal reminded herself to ask what exactly happened once she lost consciousness. For now, though, the faunus was worried when she saw Elliot riding the beast's back into the crevasse, but assured herself that he would be able to get back up. It didn't take too long for the young man to appear over the edge of the cliff's face. He looked impressive, Opal mused to herself. So, this was what Professor Goodwitch wanted to contain? Why? That was when Elliot stopped ahead of the group of girls, Andraste clenched in his right hand and his left visibly shaking as he stared at the ground.

spaceSeeing that Carmine and Hildr were at as much of a loss on what to do as she was, Opal made a silent decision. The redhead gripped down on Carmine's shoulder and moved to push herself up, accepting any help her partner gave her in the process. She stood in her spot for a moment to gain her balance and composure before slowly making her way over to Elliot. Her knees stayed bent as she walked, as it hurt all the way up to her rips if she straightened out her legs, but she couldn't let Elliot stay like this. She didn't know what was going through his mind, but it wasn't the same excitement for battle as before. "Elliot," Opal called out to him before reaching a hand out to grasp her javelin, not taking it from him, and she rested her other hand on his shoulder. Half of this was meant to be comforting, but half was also because she needed to lean on him to stand, "celebrate the victories as they come, don't get lost elsewhere. You did a great job." There was a slight wheeze to her voice, but it was still firm and strong.

It caused her to visibly falter and almost fall had she not been responsible for the unconscious Opal. While she'd been in enough of a rage during her partner's rescue to tone out the panic induced in Hildr, this was something else entirely. This cascaded and flooded over her, the intensity of the emotion threatening to suffocate. A broken "what?" was all she could muster as the girl turned toward the cause of the sudden outlash. It was just in time to see Elliot slam down into the back of the spider grimm's body and Andraste, Opal's weapon. Loud cracking echoed from both the grimm's chitinous body and the bridge beneath it. The sound bouncing off of the the trees and cliffs and yet Carmine couldn't hear it, not that, Elliot's war cry, nor Opal stirring. This is... like before... Her own voiced echoed off in her head from some far off place as Elliot plummeted along with the grimm, Hildr doing well to keep up with the debris. As much as she wanted to express or feel concern for her comrades, an impulsive red haze was fought its way into her vision. Carmine, however, was fighting back.

I can't... What... happened to Elliot? From what she understood, he was the sort of person with a generally positive disposition. If it had something to do with the grimm, then the young woman would have felt a similar level of darkness before. Did he suddenly think of something...? What exactly could he have thought of that sent him into such a overwhelming wave of anger and despair? She hadn't realized how tensed up she was, shoulders squared, clenched teeth, and her breathing very controlled. It was only when she felt a soft touch on her shoulder that she came back to reality. With a blink, her thousand yard stare was gone, and her deep green eyes locked on to the faunus in her arm. "Ah, Opal... I'm just glad you're okay." Though Carmine's heart was still racing, it seemed like she was in the clear for now. Elliot, on the other hand, was quick enough to make his way back up to the platform. She was glad he was alright, physically, but he was still emanating the feelings that threatened to work against her even now. They had to calm him down, but in all honesty, the grimm was afraid to get any closer to him this way.

Fortunately, Opal managed to the strength to make a move. Carmine was uneasy with her moving much more than she had to, but this was necessary. She helped her friend up best she could before the redhead moved to approach Elliot. Tyrfing was immediately thrown in its holster. No way. I thought I'd been getting better... but just now, it felt like I was going to drown. All she could do for a moment was stare down at her gloved hands before looking back up to her two new friends, one attempting to comfort the other. "Th-that's right! We won because of you!" she added, forcing a smile and holding two fists up in front of her chest. "That was amazing, Elliot." Though his impressive display only made her want to fight him even more. She wanted to ask him why the sudden change, to add more, be more supportive, but lingering on such terrible emotions out where they could be attacked was...dangerous.
