She slapped a hand to her face.
"The place I want to take you is a cave. S'on the beach off Morgan an' 7th. You walk north from there 'bout an hour. The cliffs kinda dip in a bit but at low tide there's a little cave."
She looked away, reaching down to pick up her work polo and pants. "My cousin an' I found it when we were little. I don't think he remembers it even ... s'mine an' I don't tell people 'bout it 'cause ********' mine."
But ... "Even f'you don't wanna go with me- go on yer own when yer off duty or whatever. Night sky looks good from there or whatever."

Closing his eyes, he just shook his head slowly. He still didn't really understand. It was hard for him. And the headache he had right now really wasn't helping him with thinking about much of anything.
"I am not a happy person, Chel. There is just too much s**t. A cave is not going to change any of that. Nothing you or anyone else can change that," he stated softly.
No. He was in charge of his own happiness. He had to forge his own path and find his own purpose.
Unfortunately, he had no clue how to do any of that.

"Yer ********' right," she said abruptly, beer clattering to the table and probably making an unpleasant noise. "I can't ********' fix any of this s**t. But goddamn Shun at least ********' tryin' Yer just- just-"
Her face hardened a bit and she took on a tone she rarely used; her mother's. Quiet, precise, serious. "Get your head out of your ******** a** and start shoveling some of that s**t or you're gonna get buried-" It retreated a bit to Chel's kindness. "-and I'll have t'dig yer a** out. Yer better than anyone bargained for, alright?"
She picked up the beer again, thinking about something. She continued looking down. "I really hope you don't remember nothin' from last night." She felt awkward now.

Shun winced a bit from the sudden clatter on the table. Loud noises. Bad. With a groan, he rubbed his head some more, keeping his eyes shut. He noticed the change in tone and the way she spoke. For just a moment. But his head was pounding even more now.
"Get the hell out of here, Chel."
It was all he had to say.
Even Chel was berating him now. Chel. Of all people. What did that have to say?

She was angry, but she wasn't. But when he spoke, he knew what he was doing. He knew exactly what he was saying.
Her face contorted a bit. She grabbed her things and stomped for the door, not even bothering to put her things back on.
Chel had realized one thing about her dream: the person she'd dreamt about was not tall. She didn't know what that meant.
