"You...had a fight," Rodney translated, "I'm...glad you were able to talk about it. Um. Let me get some hot tea on, or cider," he hurried to the kitchen, "...You're really both okay?"

Lawrence was able to nod with confidence. He was always all right so long as he was still alive, nothing much had a lasting effect on him. Sure, he'd just been subjected to his worst phobia twice, been bruised and scratched by the jungle and then almost strangled, but it was all fine. Mostly he was concerned that Melvin and Rodney were distressed by the situation and wanted to smooth it over as soon as possible.
He raised a brow at Melvin. "Those are very handsome." he said, not used to seeing the other man without his custom glasses. "Make you look very mature."
"A cider would be excellent Rodney." he added.

"Just heat some water up. I'll have some tea." He said, rubbing grit and water from his hair before peeling off his shirt too and setting it over the back of his desk chair.
"You mean they make me look old." He corrected.
"I haven't worn normal glasses in a while. It's weird." He only ever put these on before he could get a new pair. "I have to order from a special vendor for a new pair which takes a while." He adjusted the glasses as if that would somehow make them feel less alien.
He sat down and untied his shoes, knowing they would need to be cleaned and dried. "I'm sorry about the marks on your throat. I didn't think they would be that bad.... Well I wasn't thinking at all."
He took off his shoes and socks and set them aside before he dried off his chest and neck. "Do you want a shower or want me to start a bath?"

Melvin's apology did not ease Rodney's worrying.
If he had been in a Ghibli movie his sweater and hair would both be prickly.
He plugged in the kettle to heat some water. People have...relationships, he told himself, and especially Lawrence seemed to have relationships where people got hurt (and killed) and nobody...
"You should both b-be careful," he said quietly, "around the river, next time."

"Nothing wrong with looking old." Lawr said. There was everything wrong with looking old. ''You suit both."
He shrugged. "The marks will fade, it's nothing that Butch can't handle. But certainly I am always careful around rivers."
He rubbed his hair some more with the towel. "A shower, I think would be nice. I don't feel like more being submerged."

He smiled faintly at that but it went away soon after. He felt exhausted and the couch was too tempting. Leaning back, he closed his eyes as he slowly rubbed his neck with a towel.
"I do feel old." And it wasn't the glasses.

Rodney brought over two mugs after a little while, attention drawn to the marks instead of the state of the couch. He shook some, but put them down on the coffee table on top of coasters.
"Was it...something you both wanted to happen?"

"It wasn't exactly something I wanted." Lawrence said vaguely. "But that didn't mean it wasn't interesting. A little received violence now and then is absolutely fine and I am rather glad that it proved Melvin can let go. I was just less enthused about the water, but that was my own fault for falling in."
He picked up his mug and shrugged. "There's no reason Melvin should feel guilty about it. Or old either."

"No." He answered Rodney. "I'm not the type...usually." But maybe he was becoming that kind of person. There were a lot of things about him that had been tested over and over and he knew he had made a lot of exceptions. The person he was was a far cry from the Melvin of a year ago.
Sighing loudly he opened his eyes and reached for the mug. "I've been off is all and this whole ...thing isn't helping me any." Of course he could always use the libido uppage as a scapegoat.
He took the tea and leaned back. "Thank you for the tea."

Rodney looked slightly haunted at the received violence is fine and it was my own fault comments.
"Y-yes, alright. You're...welcome."
He took a chair instead of the couch, and wrung his hands instead of drinking anything.
