"It is if it's wasting movie time," Jack argued, slumping against her until his head gently knocked against hers. "But maybe I'm biased because we're Important People now." After all, they were ******** Hawthorns, literally and figuratively.

"Yer important people," she said quietly, a gentle reminder that Caelius did not think of her as Important in many ways.

The scene shifted to more arguing and confrontation. "Wish they'd get to the real fighting already."

Quote:
Then, they confront the traitorous Wizard, Saruman, standing atop of his tower. Saruman says to King Théoden that they could be allies once more, but Théoden explains that they shall both have peace when Rohan avenges all the people killed at Helm's Deep by executing Saruman on a gibbet. Also, Saruman says to Gandalf about Frodo going to his immediate doom and that Aragorn will never be crowned King of Gondor. He reveals to the others the Palantír which he kept in secret, and knows all the ways of the enemy. Then, they are informed by Saruman that Sauron is readying his forces for a final strike.

He didn't pause the movie, but Jack did turn to face her for a moment. "It's 'we,'" he told her with a nudge between arms before turning back.

"If they did that, the movie would be half as long," he pointed out as he drank his beer. "Wouldn't get your day-long nerd marathon-gasms."

Chel added a silent you but didn't push the issue further.

"You reallllly pushin' that nerd thing today," she told him. "You got a thing for girls in glasses or somethin'?"

"No, just saying these movies have padding out the a** some parts," Jack replied. Like right now; these were important characters, sure, and the discussion was topical, but when were the giant eagles coming in or something?
PostPosted: Wed Jan 20, 2016 5:47 pm

"Padding's good for other things."

And indeed there were. Chel only half listened, to the movie, instead setting her bottle down and crawling over Jack. Chel was never one to worry about missing crucial details, but neither did she want to disregard the movie completely. It was still a sort of holy experience; a completion to their arc.

Eventually they stopped short and Chel left it as a kiss on his forehead, a promise for later. When she finally looked back at the screen, the littler hobbit was getting possessed or something similar. It was an uncomfortable feeling to say the least, and ruined any sort of mood they'd built. "

Quote:

Walking outside, Aragorn goes to Legolas, who is viewing the land, knowing that the Eye of Sauron is moving to his next target. Inside the hall, Pippin, fascinated by the seeing stone, takes it from Gandalf, who is sleeping, and, ignoring Merry’s urgings to leave it alone, he moves to touch the Palantír. Whilst gazing into the crystal ball, Pippin is suddenly spied by the Eye of Sauron, and through a psychic link, the dark lord attempts to interrogate the Hobbit. Barely able to resist the Eye's power, Pippin is nearly broken into submission, but Gandalf and Aragorn wrest it from his tortured fingers. Pippin is left deeply shaken, but lives. Gandalf quickly rushes to him and panicky asks Pippin to reveal everything he said about Frodo and the Ring and Pippin says that he saw a White Tree, in a courtyard of stone, and it was dead, with the city around it in flames.

There was a strange charm to all of this that almost felt nostalgic: sneaking into places they probably shouldn't be, making out in the middle of a movie, the promise of a graveyard tromp and ice cream later. For a moment Jack was a few years younger again, and some of that dammed up affection that had built up the more Chel had unveiled couldn't help but spillover in a rush. There was a rare recklessness in his grin and in his grip, one that knew there would be more later but still teased in the now, anything to show his appreciation.

He lingered while she turned her attention back to the movie, brow creasing as he caught up to what was happening. With his arms still around her, Jack slipped his hands under her shirt and held her waist in silent support. "Isn't that the s**t that knocked that skeleton over in the first movie too?" he asked, trying to distract. "Jesus Christ."

Chel laid her hand over his. Solidarity in the quiet. It's okay. She just wished she could watch a goddamn movie without being reminded.

Arwen flashed on screen and Chel perked. Yet it dimmed again as the lady elf received a vision and rightfully turned her anger on her father. It wasn't a scene Chel remembered, but it was now all too personal.

"I was thinkin' earlier," Chel started as Elrond explained that Arwen wouldn't be allowed in the elfy version of heaven, "We're gonna miss a lot of s**t."

Quote:
Meanwhile, Arwen is travelling with a company of Elves (including Figwit) toward the Grey Havens. On the journey, she has a vision of Eldarion, her future son by Aragorn, which convinces her to turn back to Rivendell. There, she urges her father Elrond to reforge Narsil, the sword of Elendil, so that it may be given to Aragorn. Elrond is resistant, until he realizes that Arwen is becoming mortal. He is told by Arwen that this is her choice, and that there is no ship that can take her away now.

More memories resurfaced as Arwen came on. One in particular was about when Chel had asked him if he'd ever give her a necklace like the elf's, how he had said <******** no because why would he?

"What do you mean?" Jack asked, even though he was sure he already knew what she meant. "We're already missing quite a bit as hunters."

"Kids and s**t. College for you. More beer for me," she stated, taking a long drink of her own. Chel didn't often have regrets and she couldn't say coming to Deus was a regret (I met Jack) but it was a rare instance of guilt for Chel.

"Lots of things." She took another long drawn out sip. "s**t sorry. Not somethin' yer s'posed t'get into on yer honeymoon yeah?" Though they both knew this changed nothing about their relationship.

"Mm..." He shrugged. "Honeymoon's whatever we want, babe. I'll counter with this: You know what else we're missing? Bills, taxes, job insecurity, having to deal with our families, more bills..." He said it in a perfect droning monotone.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 21, 2016 9:09 pm

"Mm," she agreed, but there was a sinking feeling in her chest as neither of them felt like bringing up the elephant in the room: bills were a hell of a step up from dying.

"Maybe we should have a zombie baby to make up for it," she told him with a brighter smile, trying to change the mood. "Name it Bella an' everything."

Jack, who had seen the unfortunate zombie spawn once or twice from trainees who either were ignorant or blatantly idiotic while working his shifts in the infirmary, made a face and then hid it by pressing another kiss to her cheek in hopes of helping cheer her up. "Let's not; they ruined a perfectly good name."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 21, 2016 11:12 pm

"Shh, s**t's gettin' good," she told him as the beacons went up. The excitement fell flat as more hushed whispers ensued, and the movie only teased battle with the occasional skirmish.

"Goddammit." She sank back down into his side without meaning to. "Alright, what about the name Owain?"

Quote:
The signal passes along Gondor's chain of beacons in the White Mountains, swiftly reaching Edoras. There, Aragorn quickly runs to tell Théoden that "Gondor calls for aid!" After a brief moment of thought, Théoden orders the Rohirrim to muster at Dunharrow – they will ride for Gondor and to war. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli prepare themselves and Aragorn notices that Éowyn will be riding with them. She says that the men have found Aragorn as their captain; they will follow him to battle and even to death. He has given them hope.

He hoped these battles would be worth it, for all the build up that was going on now. Jack chuckled as she slumped against him and pat her back sympathetically.

"Absolutely not," he replied in spite of those friendly gestures. Owain made a pleased if amused noise in his head. "What the ******** kind of name for a kid is that?"
