Kai remained curled up in the bed and let out a small yawn which he tried to hide. He was actually rather comfortable there at the moment and happy. He remembered when he curled up like this with his parents and he felt a bit homesick. He had never been away from home before and he missed his parents, his home. He was sure that he would see them again, but he also was starting to grow attached to Derrick. Was that wrong? After all the man had helped him, had done so much for him already it was hard not to at least like the guy and think of him as a friend.

"Uh... I don't really know right now. Im pretty comfy right now." he said blushing a bit realizing what he was saying. He looked away then and tried to backtrack. "Uh I mean, this kind of reminds me of something I did with my parents. Its comforting when Im not home."

Kai looked away for a moment and started to move off the bed and away from Derrick. "Im sorry, I didn't mean to say anything that would cause discomfort. Ill go back to the other room." He said softly starting for the door and thinking about home. He missed his parents and the thought made his eyes tear up a bit. He blinked a few times to force the tears away not wanting to be seen crying. He was a prince and shouldn't be having such outbursts or being a child for missing home.

Once he was back in Alvin's room he lay on the bed and held a pillow to his chest. Is this how it felt for everyone the first time they were away from home?

Kai heard the knock and attempted to brush back tears his cheeks stained lightly by the bloody tears. "Its okay, I shouldn't have said anything to make you uncomfortable. My father isn't always that affectionate at times either, so I understand." He said softly before looking at the pillow he was holding. He looked to Derrick as the man asked about a zoo and he tilted his head. "Ive never been to one. Most animals don't seem to like me that much, well except for fish and ocean ones. Ive never really been to a zoo or water park. Unless you count the swimming tunnels my father had installed when he first met my mother." Kai had usually been afraid to try swimming in public, would he end up with a tail? He had never really learned to swim without it.

Kai blushed slightly as Derrick wiped away his tears. For someone not used to being affectionate he seemed to know what to do. Hearing about the zoo animals he smiled a bit. "You really think they would be okay with me there?" At the same time he remembered what it was like to be in a cage and he shuddered. At least this zoo was different from that right? It couldn't be bad if the animals seemed fine with the people and other creatures there. "I would like that. It would be nice to see the animals ive only looked at in pictures or heard about."

Kai was a bit excited about this, but then he remembered Derrick also had work. "What about your work though? It looked like you had a lot of things to do still, I don't want to distract you from it."

Well, that certainly didn't seem enjoyable. He shuddered at the thought. "You have a lot on your shoulders that for sure. I don't really know how you could run something and still have time for yourself." He said softly thinking that Derrick ran a small kingdom himself. Is this how his father was only on a different scale? It must be easier when you do have someone else to help ease the stress. Kai felt a bit bad that he was taking time away from the man's work. Perhaps he could help in some way while he was there if only to help a bit in exchange for saving him before.

"Well then while Im here I will make sure that you have plenty of personal time okay?" He asked with a bit of a smile. "Well, it seems like they really care about you Derrick. You should listen to them sometimes. It seems like your kind of stressed."

Kai curled up in the bed and looked at Derrick as he threw the bloody tissues away. "That might not be the best way to dispose of that, vampire blood and all. We should burn them to keep anyone from potentially being turned."

Kai nodded. He didn't think anyone would, but if they were being watched still it was probably a good idea to be careful just to be safe. "I just want to be safe and not risk it, or have someone that's watching the house come and try and take samples for some reason." He shuddered at the thought of someone trying to turn another or take samples of his blood. He didn't think there were many vampire/merman mixes.
