Gael Post 4

He heard someone yelling and it caused him to give a twitch of his earfins as he was about to turn to see who it was. However, before he could make a full turn he was bumped into and he stumbled. In doing so he moved quickly to catch the person that had been so careless. One hand going under Nuawahn to splay across his chest as the other wrapped around him to make sure he didn't touch the ground. Gael gave pause as he looked down. It was no Matorian he'd caught but at least it wasn't an Oban.

Moving to put the male upright he gave a small grunt. "Don't mention it. Just, make sure you watch where you're going from now on. Some people in the crowd might not be so nice." And it was true. When the Wind Tribesman asked if Gael wanted to be his friend he stared. Well that was something he hadn't expected. "Sure, why not." One shoulder lifted as he spoke and he stopped searching the crowd for his siblings, as well as any familiar face.

serr post three

Jostled up onto one foot by Gift's exuberance, Serr regained his balance and gently nudged her back with amusing stubbornness. Sometimes he felt jealous at the very existence of Eziya's companion, and sometimes that jealousy manifested itself in thoroughly childish ways. His denial of the Xaraan's concern didn't last, however. The Shifter's words stilled him, serving as a reminder that he still wasn't any better at wrapping his head around other people's feelings, even hers.

"I hope she'll be okay," he said with a nod. From what he had heard, the Alkidike were surprisingly uninterested in Jauhar this time around. "If Sauti keeps them occupied, maybe they'll ignore the forest." Realistically he had no idea why they would pass it by, but he didn't have any idea why they suddenly had an interest in Sauti either. He couldn't fault their unpredictability, but there was a difference between being spontaneous and being stupid. Maybe.

Like the Oban. They seemed rather more concerned with obsessing over the aftermath of their own war than helping stop this new one. Serr sighed. Let them argue with the Matori about who would stab who in the back. He would be fighting.

"I liked it better here when everyone wasn't being... stupid."

Reillan Post 2

Reill started to move looking for a place where they would be better able to voice their opinions, he stopped beside another fireling, well kept and rather cute in his opinion with her little crossbow. "Can you believe this? You would think they would have taken us out definitively when we were down there, instead of picking on a piece of scraggly rock." He snorted and waved a hand in frustration. "Not the smartest move in my opinion. They should have just taken off in boats or what not if they did not like their own home."

He glared at nothing in particular, and they had Yitzah, they had been fools to let her go, now he was worried, she had Xarthin of course but still. Reillan was not impressed, she was their responsibility darn it and they had delivered her to not only her mother in Aisha but to a big fat hornet nest of nastiness.

Keelthy Post 2

Keelthy was also worried about their alk charge, although she was old enough now to be on her own she was part of their unit now, snarky as she was she provided a much needed relief from constant male company.

She was important to them now and he was almost shocked to remember what female obans looked like. Maybe they had stayed in the jungle too long, he mused peering interestedly around at the crowd. He too felt nervous, shifty like they had stayed in one place too long.

"Do you think we will move out soon? Oh forgive my brother, my name is Keelthy and this is Reillan." He gestured to Reil.

@Sebastian

Irrohnaghal Post 2

Irro was shoving her way into the crowd and somehow got enough moment to plow right into someone. "Oh I'm so sorry, I'm usually so good with crowds. But its so hard to move here," she peeked up at the male, good looking but a dark Oban when she was so enamored of Qora's pale skin. He wondered if he would talk to someone blotched like she was but there was only one way to find out. "My name is Irro, from Tale originally, treasure hunter by trade, you look alot like a beast charmer. That would be fun in Oba," she grinned.

Hot but fun, but no less hot then her own thing, people didn't follow treasure hunters around with palm leaves and parasols.

Kani Post 4

Kani started to make her way through the crowd, tired and hoping to find someone she knew. People were stumbling around left and right, either from the close proximity and trying to dodge others or just the festivities in general. She wanted to enjoy it all, but could hardly find the motivation after all the arguing. She didn't want to be arguing with her own people, but she felt strongly about her viewpoint. Perhaps she would find someone she could get along with. She watched as a wind boy fell into another Matori and tilted her head as she watched it play out. Everyone really needed to slow down and stop falling over.

"Really now, you should be more careful," she said to the boys, wandering closer to them. "Are either of you two hurt?"

Abie Post 3

The taller of the trio got a big grin before he ran ahead to stand before the other two. One hand was grasping Incanthis' while the other waved excitedly. "I think there's one ahead! Come on. I wanna see if I can win us something. So we all have a memory of this day!"

Abie had a habit of collecting little things. A rock with a shape to it, a feather randomly found on the road or a scrap of cloth from someone's sleeve if he got into a fight. Right now he wanted something that the three of them could share, either literally or figuratively with copies. If he won it then he would feel more proud about the memory. After all...memories were everything to the youth. Incanthis might not stay with them, the shifter could wind up with another tomorrow. Maybe he would met his perfect half while at this very festival!

There was a moment that Incanthis would feel a slight tightening on his hand before the youth relaxed his grasp and looked back to the stall.

Aqio Post 3

The smaller male watched his sibling with great care. Abie was much too open once you got to know him. Like right now...something unpleasant meandered into his twins mind and the other didn't want to think on it too much. It was quite possible that Abie's need to keep those he deemed either friends, family or potential of either group, close and near was kicking in. Aqio reached up a hand to clasps Incanthis's on his shoulder, squezing it almost as if in pity before speaking. "Yes, Abie. I saw that stall earlier. Perhaps its a comrade of Mentor's...the face looks familiar."

As they neared the stall, the male looked over and seemed to sigh. Aqio smiled. "Yup. They know us...Abie. Behave..."

He repressed the growl when his elder twin stuck his tongue out like a child.

Ichil- post 2
@Reillan, Keelthy

"I don't think it has so much to do with not-liking their home as much as it does about wanting more of it." She had answered with no hesitation, not caring who it was that had spoken. Of course she turned and saw an attractive male Oban and offered him a smile. Hello, you.

Her gaze only switched when a second young man approached, so dark in skin he was nearly black. What did he do, she wondered? His clothing seemed a bit... odd. "Oh, it's not problem," she assured him with a dismissive wave of the hand. She turned back to the crowd and went up on her tip-toes, looking for her father. If they were going to get moving he'd be starting to herd folks in, she'd bet. It was sort of in his nature. Imagine the look on his face when he realized his daughter was fighting too...

"Oh. Ichil. I'm Ichil, I'm sorry. It's nice to meet you both." Not nobles, not faces she recognized, but definitely Oban. "What's your opinion in all of this, hm? Ready to fight?" It had seemed that way at least.

Sebastien- post 2
@Irro

"Woah!" Seb called, but it dissolved into a laugh immediately. Presumably nobody was intending to smack into him like that so he definitely couldn't be angry. When he turned to see who had been so forceful he saw a young woman with an odd mark on her skin. Huh. That was interesting, wasn't it? She probably didn't like people staring, though. Not all of Oba was polite enough to be conscious of it.

"No, no, it's fine. It is pretty close here." As if on cue, a small section of the crowd surged forward as one of its members shouted and Seb was pushed forward, but just rolled his eyes. See? "I'm Sebastien," he said, offering out his hand in greeting. "Treasure hunting! That's pretty exciting. Ah-- yes, you've got me. I'm a 'Charmer at the King's compound. It is pretty fun, I have to say. Maybe slightly dangerous, but I don't have to tell you that."

Illian Post 4

Illian chuckled, "Aa, Jelanii does enjoy fighting the Obans a bit too much. If we go into battle they'll be our allies and we don't need them beaten or killed before they even see an Alkidike." He replied turning his dark colored eyes onto the elder matorian. When the Obans came by he had to scowl a bit. It was all fine to try and make amends but right now, it was all words to him and no action. But Jelanii's words made him turn that scowl onto him.

"Not all Obans are the cruel masters you've come to know." He said, "The young know no better than what their parents teach them, and with all the change, they will be the first to embrace equality without a fight." He crossed his arms, "But this is not the time for such feelings. We're here to decide on if we want to help Sauti, which all of us here are in agreement on. Our enemy are Alkidikes, not a tribe that has already been shown the error of their ways."

Jelanii Post 4

Jelanii nodded in agreement with Illian's words at first. Until those wors turned on him. Jelanii's eyes widened in surprise and then narrowed. "No. They will never be the first to embrace equality. As you said, they nothing more than what their parents taught them and if you are going to justify their actions because of that then also accept that is who they are as well. I refuse to ignore their wrongdoing just because they were brought up that way. Maybe you can be so forgiving, but I never will be."

He shook his head, his eyes dark with disappointment. "To sit here and say it is not the time is truly ridiculous. This is the perfect time! We are not only deciding if we should fight forSauti, but if we are to fight with the Obans. How many people do you think will refuse to fight simply because it is the Oban we would be fighting with. To ignore that face is dangerous. Yes, I believe we should fight, but it's futile if people refuse to because we decide to ignore that the Matorian do not trust the Oban and for good reason."

Scoffing, Jelanii folded his arms. "Our enemies will always be the Oban. I will not ignore that simply because a new enemy shows up at our gates. There has been no, they've been shown the errors of their ways, simply forced to release us. It wasn't the Obans who decided to free us, but their king and not because we deserved freedom, but in order to get his daughter back. So show me how they have changed."

Just the thought of Illian taking the Oban's side was enough to make fury go through him. He couldn't look at him. He turned away, searching out for his sister only to see some Matorian, all over her. Scowling he walked over and took his sister's hand and tugging her away from the man. "Cerith, are you okay?"

Cerith: Post 4

As soon as Jelanii stepped past her, Cerith tossed her eyes to the sky with a soft groan. But, resigned, she crossed her arms over her chest and watched the chaos unfold, her face taking on a bored expression - until an arm was slung, unceremoniously, across her shoulders, giving her a rowdy jostle that left her temporarily wide eyed and startled. After realizing who it was, though, she relaxed a fraction - it was easier to bare this man's company when they weren't crawling through the brush after a snaptrotter, after all. And... not to mention, he'd certainly buffed up! She looked over him, appreciatively, then turned her eyes back to her brother, who was now lecturing the Obans.

Unperturbed by Shaka's observation, Cerith sighed and looped her arm around Mynshaka's middle, tucking her fingertips into his belt without the slightest bit of shyness. "Shaka! I didn't realize I'd see you here...! ... Ah, well... I fear I still have to get used to my brother's outbursts. I should've known he wouldn't be able to resist bickering with them. " She clicked her tongue in disappointment.

Illian definitely had a point - although him insisting that the Obans had learned their lesson was a stretch. It was too early to test the bonds of friendship between their races, Cerith felt. She was conflicted about all of this - she knew there were Obans who were bearable, and plenty of Matori she'd wish the worst on. Slavery had been simpler, but also horrible - freedom was terrifying but wonderful. Floating, untethered, in the breeze as her own person was something Cerith had never had to be before, not since being a child, and if Jelanii hadn't come along she had been content to tie herself to another inn and continue her old, servile life.

Taking a deep, shuddering breath, Cerith shook her head and ignored the pang that went through her as her brother spoke - and she felt herself agree with every point he made. Something must be wrong, if her foolish brother who she had scolded for his outlandish behavior only weeks ago, was suddenly making sense.

So she was glad for the distraction, and the excuse to bristle in indignation, when he strode back to her and yanked her away from Mynshaka. She could ignore her increasingly mistrustful feelings for the Obans - and instead glare at Jelanii, yanking her hand away and rubbing it, exaggerating his roughness (he had been handsy, but not TOO rough). "Ow -- yes, I was just fine until you manhandled me!" She glowered, then dropped her hands, instead crossing them once again, hip jutting out, looking displeased. "You know something I have realized - there's no assurances that even if our people go to war, we'll be any actual help. This conflict may be over before we even make it to Sauti."

Shalvesta: Post 4
What a liberal thought- her mother-in-law would be rolling on the floor if she'd heard such words. That only made saying them all the better. Shalvesta had never been much of an ally to the slaves, but she didn't want to kick them while they were down either. She recognized how their loss had crippled the infrastructure of Oban society, and with them rushing off to the west, Oba could potentially contend with future conflicts between vengeful ex-slaves, and victims of the previous war. Logically, she knew that if someone had come to her aid, long ago, when she was at a weak point in her life, she would spare them from her rage, now that she was able to defend herself. ...So in that sense, Tera was absolutely right.

That and Shalvesta truly didn't enjoy being cruel to most people, if they hadn't insulted her or made her feel put off. Him being a man was enough to put her on edge, but not enough to make her spit and hiss like an enraged Perzi.

When the Matori finally spoke, Shalvesta cracked a small, amused smile - as if a child had whispered something endearing to her, humoring him. "As much as I wish that was the case... I know plenty of soldiers who would see this as a chance to salvage their pride, after the last war." She'd spent months of her life training with some of those soldiers, during the war, and had seen the loss of morale after the king surrendered. To go back to war and bring home some sort of glory, even if it was saving the skins of some northern savages.

Tera Post 4

Tera glanced toward the Oban woman as she spoke, giving a slow nod, "I see." He murmured, lifting a hand to toy with a bit of his hair, tugging on it lightly. So there were Obans who wanted to go to war again? It was something that he couldn't quite wrap his mind around but then again he wasn't one for fighting. It wasn't something that appealed to him, he just wanted to keep Kyruie safe. Not that it was exactly the most logical desire, not when he was the one who was supposed to stand amongst Tera's protectors. At least at present, he might very well quit when he got married since it was Ashta being paid, not Kyruie. He likely wouldn't want to stick around after he'd gotten married and had kids. He would leave the bodyguard job solely to Ashta, something that worried him a little.

"I don't get it... why anyone might want to fight. I hope that Kyruie and Ashta don't find something that makes them want to fight if their is a war to be fought." He said in a hushed tone of voice, releasing his braid after tugging on it a few more times he looked up at her again. He didn't want them fighting, would rather them just have to deal with the invisible enemies that Tera's mother was so afraid of. The idea of facing real danger, that wasn't something that he wanted to think about. Though you will likely continue to think about it anyway the voice so kindly prodded him. It was as poke that he did his best to ignore, not wanting to look as though he was talking to himself, especially in front of an Oban.

Clasping his hands behind his back he drew in a breath, held it, and then let it out very slowly. He needed to try to find Kyruie and Ashta soon, to see what their thoughts about the possibility of war could be. He wanted to warn them off, but would they listen? It was hard to say really, but he kind of wanted to try to cling to them even though one of them was about to be taken away from him by marriage. Giving a soft sigh he said, "What... what about you? Are you wanting to fight to salvage your pride or are you not amongst those sorts?" Best that he knew what he was dealing with when it came to the one he was chatting with.

Heras Box
Sorry about the double quote, it looked so small in the post and I had to fix it

Nuawahn (Post 3)

”Okay!” said Nuawahn. The man's advice was sensible, though he had thought he had been looking where he was going... just, apparently, not as much as he had thought.

No, he corrected himself sheepishly, I wasn't really looking where I was going... I was looking for Arijah. That was different. That was not, apparently where he was going, a frustrating concept. If Arijah wasn't where he was going, where was she?

Well, new friends were better than nothing in a crowd of strangers, so Nuawahn decided to pay attention to his new friend a little. ”So mister friend," he started, noticing that the water tribesman (such pretty fins!) appeared to be looking around the crowd like Nuawahn had been (if a bit less frantically). "Are you looking for someone too? Maybe if we look together” he said, hopeful, ”We can find them faster!”

Istanell Post 3

He blinked and his head tilted a little as he simply studied her. She invented things.... meaning she made things better or made things no one had ever seen before. That was... truly a skill of beauty. And more than that she cared deeply about her family, as did he. A slow smile curled his lips and he nodded along.

"Yes, exactly." Earthlings seemed to forget there was so much more to war than just fighting and being a warrior. "I came here to protect my family.... but it looks like I will leave here to protect them too." If war really did come, that was. He knew Illian would fight... but Incanthis? He couldn't say. Certainly his little brother would heal those that needed it... but Istanell had half the mind to think that would mean their enemies as well. He scanned the crowd, wondering where both brothers were. His heart felt tight, every time he thought about the fact that he was so close to them and even still... couldn't be by their sides for any number of silly reasons.

"Your name?" He looked back to the girl, completely forgetting it probably would have been polite to offer his name first.

Amarone Post 4

She couldn't help but watch as all of the people around her began to rally for their causes, feeling a bit out of her wits. She wanted to see all of the people - it had been an interesting mix and those Matori really did have interesting skin, eyes, and ears - but everyone was so rushed to make their opinions heard that she actually practiced control and stood back, using her eyes to take it in instead of her hands.

She wrung her hands together in anxiety and need for movement, bouncing on her toes and looking around as she hummed in response to his words. As they sunk in, she turned to flash him a closed lip, soft smile, knowing that he would have a lot more to face than she ever would. No wars had come to her home, so she hadn't had the chance to deal with a warrior. All she knew how to do was make things, fix things, but never how to deal with war.

And what little she had seen, she wasn't sure she ever wanted to be part of such a destructive path, even if it involved protecting her home.

"My name is Amarone" Breathless, she finally couldn't resist, and smiled brightly, "...you...you have the most fascinating skin and hair...it's so different than those who live at home, even with Icelings knocking on our door."

She laughed at that, spinning her head away to look around again before looking back and getting excited for her future path to Jauhar, and the chance to see more Shifters like the one before her.

Beast taming? He supposed he could see where the woman was coming from, now. It made some sense to preserve and protect Sauti, if she wanted to visit and explore the wildlife there. If the Alkidikes took over, they might bar others from entering altogether. And that would make things pretty complicated for everyone else in Tendaji, no doubt, as Sauti stood between everyone else and Zena.

So perhaps sending reinforcements wasn't as unreasonable as he had first thought. But on the subject of his own involvement... he still felt rather hesitant.

"No, I'm not much of a warrior." He grinned, running his hands over his costume. "I'm a drummer -- my troupe is here for the festival. I'm not sure what call there'd be for drummers in a war. Not drummers from Matori, at least; we don't really know any war-songs, never had much call for them I suppose. Still, I don't really want to push others into war if I'm going to stay home and play drums all day."
