Joweese, post 3...?

Joweese didn't want to hear any more fighting, it was all too much for her. She grasped onto Zahra like a frightened animal and nodded furiously. Getting off of the isles seemed like the best idea ever, even for an adventurous girl like her. The festival was supposed to be fun and all about Aisha, not this horrible nonsense!

"Yeah, let's get out of here." She whimpered, leaning against Zahra. "But... Isn't Tale next to Sauti? That would be right where these crazy women are headed! ... Do you think we should wait for mom to lead us there or just go on without her?"

Briella - Post Four
When the Matron stood up and came into view Briella thought it would all be over, that she would put a rest to the fighting and the celebration would continue. However that was far from the truth, and it seemed to happen was horrible horrible things. She moved closer to Kadriye, weary of the extremist who had their eyes on her.

"You are bent on destroying us from within, all of you extremists are. Can't you see that taking a land that isn't ours, and that is so far away, isn't a good idea? How blind are you? I have fought against earthlings, and with earthlings, and I can tell you with all certainty that they won't go down without a fight."

Ilyra - Post Four
Earthlings weren't weak. She herself had been bested by them on more then one occasion. She looked over at Vollerei and nodded. Everything she was saying was correct.

However she didn't have time to even say something before Tahigwa went off, looking ready to kill. Her words were extreme, and not those that Ilyra would have chosen herself, but she wasn't wrong. "And I proudly stand by her side" she stated as she stood tall. She wasn't some weakling, and she knew that more people would be behind Tahigwa. At least she hoped they would be.

She smiled at Zahra, such a bright girl and a good point. "Zahra is right. Where do you draw the line? I'm as pure as any of you, as is she, so does that make us less then you like the earthlings?" she asked no one in particular.

Kaalnia (Post 2)

Goddess's branches, this was serious. Way, way too serious for Kaalnia's liking. ”Kiki, get back here now.” she said, as the extremists became more vocal and bold, ”Kiki!” but her daughter wasn't listening. ”Ugh.” Kaalnia grimaced in exasperation as she tried to get closer, ”Kiki, we're outta here. Now.” she tried to reach for her daughter, but she was shoved back by extremists... no, by one of Kiki's friends.

As Kaalnia tried to find a way to her daughter, realization reared its ugly head. Kiki sure has a lot of friends Kaalnia thought grimly as the extremist movement grew like some ravaging fungus before her eyes. She stood back, her heart aching as she watched Kiki become absorbed – metaphorically – into their mass. ”Kiki...?” she murmured, trying to catch Kiunyki's face amidst the crowd, but she couldn't even catch glimpses anymore, the crowd had become so excited by the Matron's words.

Kaalnia did not like the darkness she was feeling. It was too familiar, too grim. No, don't get sad Kaa. she told herself, holding her spear's shaft tightly, That's not a path you want to go down. Never again. she'd had enough of the doubt and the nightmares, of the sadness and fear. She looked at the matron and tensed. Yeah. That's it. Get mad. Get mad, Kaa. Go tell her what's what.

She stabbed the butt end of her spear into the ground and turned to face the matron and her growing cluster of followers. ”Yeah? So we're destroying our race? All right, what do you plan to do to us? Get our children killed in some far off land? Are you going to punish us through them?” she tossed her hair defiantly, challenging the Matron to show her hand. Sure, the Matron was a respected figure, but she was acting like an a**. If Kiki was going to be rebellious, why shouldn't Kaalnia be rebellious too? At least Kaa had reason. ”If we're destroying our race, what is up with you turning their minds against their Sisters? Against their kin?” Kaalnia shook her head at her bile. ”Go back to sucking eggs, old lady, and give me my daughter back.”

Kiunyki (Post 2)

”Why defend rats!” Kiki chanted. She felt good – so amazingly good – amidst the extremists. She did not, of course, think of them in that way. They weren't extreme – they were right. Sure, her uncle was a hybrid. Sure, her mother was known to sleep with hybrids and earthlings. But she understood that that wasn't the right path – this was a foolish path, full of pitfalls and degradation. Her friends – and their older compatriots – said that the Alkidike were rotting, that the hybrids were making Aisha sick, that they were mere shadows of their former glory. And Kiki could believe it. There were more hybrids now than, even, when she was little, and there would be more and more. That was just wrong. They were wrong – crazy admixtures of colors and patterns and crystals. They needed to know they were wrong. This was right.

She cheered and whooped with the rest of the younger group as the Matron spoke. Yes, they were not the weaklings – they were the strong. They would take Tendaji for the Alkidike. They would make things right and stop the spread of hybrid abominations through their world. Between the young mystic and the Matron, surely this must be Aisha's will: Kadriye and Eshe were just in denial. Horrible horrible denial.

”Trap the rats!” she chanted, ”Stomp them in their holes!”

She heard her mother protesting and she faltered. How could it be that her mother didn't understand yet? It was so obvious! Her mother's love of hybrids was part of the problem, and it was hurting her! She knew her Mama was strong, she knew that she could be great too, like the Alkidikes of old. The hybrids and earthlings had sapped her strength, and would hurt her more still. If she let them. Kiki stared at her mother through the crowd as she chanted, sweat dancing on her brow, telling herself that the words she heard her mother say were not really from her mother, and how could they be? Her mother was sick – sickened by the earthlings and by her so-called uncle. Kiki would make her better. Kiki would make her understand.

Yitzah (Post 4)

Aisha? Infallible? ”Who knows. I'm not a mystic. I have no idea.” Yitzah said to Anya, shrugging, ”She's a tree. She's special and everything, I mean... yeah... but if nobody agrees on what she's saying, either they aren't hearing her right or they aren't hearing her at all. Or something.” Yitzah shrugged, ”Thats not my problem. I have no idea. I don't care if she's fallible, infallible, or anything. Not my concern. People are gonna be idiots on their own, and that's what's happening.”

”I was joking about the food. It's not that bad.” Yitzah said, frowning, ”I don't know how two people with the same mothers could turn out different, but...” she hesitated, ”I know how it feels to have someone betray you with their mind like that, so... uh.” her attempt to be comforting to the only person who seemed to be listening to reason, or trying to.

”I've seen them too. What, do they think attacking earthlings is going to be a cakewalk?” Yitzah squinted at the Matron, ”If I didn't know any better, I'd bet she was some kind of agent for the bug monsters.” It was a crazy – neigh, insane idea: the Matron?! Even Yitzah knew about her, and even could respect her to an extent for what she was... but it could happen. She wouldn't put it past those monsters to have some kind of crazy magic. ”You know what I'm talking about, right? The bug monsters?”

Maya Post 5

Reaching out Maya moved to squeeze V'demhe's shoulder. "Do not lose faith. They are riled and passionate about what they feel. It's only natural, after all we are a proud race and until the past decade or so have only thought of ourselves and the land of Jauhar. The lands beyond tale are still new enough to our people. It takes time for change, this much change thankfully was quick but to change means to grow and growing has pain. This is just the pain of a race's evolution."

Maya flinched a little at the forced smile, Teiluj often did that very thing with her when she was trying to hide something. Tilting her head to the side a little Maya remained peacefully distant to the bickering of the crowd of sister. Nodding to V'demhe she agreed that taking the elderly woman home was a good idea. It seemed like brawls were starting to happen among the sisters and if any of the elderly were caught up in it, severe damages could be done. Her eyes moved around the various Alkidike. Aware of the mystics and the Matron.

Pausing as her eyes settled on the Matron. She had recently stepped down when Maya was a youngling. Her mothers were both very adamant about following the Matrons way of life, and while she was raised to respect the elderly Mystic Maya felt torn in the choices before her. On one hand the Matron was right in a way, they were a dominant species before, even if it didn't seem that way now. But on the other hand she had Teiluj and Shukri to worry about. Not to mention the various other friends she had made. Sighing she rubbed her temple trying to ignore the bickering as her mind worked. Was there even a way to calm the situation without turning this into a war among the races?

Kakkara nuzzled into Maya as the Guardian turned to pet her mount. Giving a smile Maya climbed upon the oban bred Janarim. Instructing it to move forward. It would be useless to add her voice into the volume of noise that seemed to go unheard of by both sides. But a few cords were struck when people started to vocalize doubt in their great mother. Anger broiled under the surface. "I don't care what side of this fight anyone is on, but to cast doubt on our mother! To claim she is nothing more than a baby maker is HERESY!!" Maya shouted pressing one hand to her heart. "I may not be able to speak directly to our mother as the Mystics can, but I know that she's there and listens. I feel her, how can you not? Have you been away from her bows for so long that you have been lost to us to her?! It is sisters like you who have no right to approach her for children if you can't even put your faith in her. Our Mystics have just as much humanity in them as we do."

Listening to Kadriye, Maya's brows stitched together. From everything she heard from each mystic in turn it all seemed like in part they all had the same message but it was delivered in a different way. This, Maya surmised was something that needed more thought. Everyone under aisha, respect the other tribes, be above them. It would make sense that a mother would cherish her own children over those she adopted. Humming Maya continued to ride Kakkara through the crowd. Looking for any familiar face.

Ariya Post 4

She had managed to find a spot away from her mother and out of the way of the arguments. Ariya wasn't fond of how this day was turning out. It was supposed to be a celebration for Aisha and here her daughters were bickering back and forth about the integrity of their race. The young Alkidike turned her attention in the direction of Aisha. "I'm sorry, Mother, we seem to be lost this day." The words were muttered under her breath and soon her attention was brought back to what was going on.

She saw the Matron step onto stage and start to bellow about how her generation was making the Amazon race weak. Ariya thought that was going a bit far. A frown formed on her lips but she remained silent as she continued to listen. There were a few in the crowd that spoke against the woman but many seemed to agree. The words of another close to her age made her look in the direction of Zahra. The girl had a point. When the earthlings and hybrids were conquered who would they turn their attention to then? Those born with slight defects? Who would be the one to say that another had a defect? It was here that Ariya felt her voice needed to be heard by the masses. "So we've become a destructive race now? Take out the earthlings, turn on those that share our blood and were born from Aisha, then what? Start taking out those of us who don't look like the others? Who will be the one to point the finger?" Her eyes left Zahra and went toward the Matron.

"Will you be the one to decide which of us pureblood Alks need to be weeded out? Even though Aisha gave us life you would snuff it out? Are you insane!? You say we are weak, that the young generation has made our tribe weak, I think you're wrong! We are stronger. We are not blinded by prejudice." Aisha help her she didn't want to be on the spot, but there were some things that even she couldn't ignore. Ariya looked around at the crowd leveling her gaze at an extremist. "What about you? What if our Matron decided that after you have served her and taken over the rest of Tendaji that you were defected and needed to be taken out? Or you?" She pointed to the woman next to the extremist she'd singled out.

"Or any of us? What is defined as defective? Our physical appearance? A bent antennae, the wrong coloring, maybe you are blind? Who says it stops there? Maybe you have a different opinion and that is seen as defective?" Ariya sighed and settled back down to her quiet self. "If you want to expand into the rest of Tendaji then sure, lets do that, but you don't have to conquer everyone to do it.."

Feeling much like she may have just started the biggest argument yet she cleared her throat and looked toward Eshe and the other mystic that was present. "If our young mystic went out to see the rest of the world it doesn't mean she wants to conquer it. Perhaps she just wants to see for herself how it looks. Shouldn't someone, shouldn't all of us, find out the real reason behind her absence here?" After all, if the extremists were taking Aselia's actions as a sign of war then it needed to be cleared up. Just what were her reasons for being away? "Is it possible that she has turned her back on Aisha and that is why she is not present? Or is it because she found the land beyond the islands to be beautiful? Maybe she found someone out there that she wants to be with?" She listed off different reasons that the mystic would be absent, though she made sure to avoid any that would spark war in the eyes of everyone.

"Today is Aisha's day. We are supposed to celebrate her. Could you not seek out her voice and ask our Great Mother what she wants from us?" That was a simple solution, right? Her eyes went once more toward Aisha and she apologized for adding in to the bickering that had been going on. She just didn't think that their mother would want them to start destroying themselves simply because of one person's view. Or even twenty peoples' views. When she saw Maya, Ariya's cheeks seemed to blossom with a pink hue and she avoided any direct eye contact. Though she did wonder what the woman would think about her outbursts.

(( OMG sorry... D: Ariya apparently had a lot to say. >

Dyakida (Post 4)

Dyakida felt despair. There were many who spoke words of reason, but there were more still who had already fallen to this ideology. She wondered if they had ever encountered an earthling before. She had. Sure, they were not Alkidike, and were innately inferior to her own tribe, but Dyakida would never call them vermin or useless. They had their uses – in fact, Dyakida had learned much about her own craft from them, and that craft served her sisters. Tendaji was destined for them, but was this really the way to do it? This idea of crass fighting?

War was inevitable – Dyakida could hear it in the acid tongues and raised voices of both sides of the argument – but there had been a hope that the elders and the mystics could dampen the furor. That hope died when she heard the Matron's voice, her words stabbing into her like daggers. Earthling lover... weakling... destroying our race... every slur felt like a personal and physical blow. A cry of frustrated despair built within her throat, and she bit it back, feeling as though she would burst into tears if she let her guard down even a moment. It was all she could do to stay standing by her friend's side. She felt as though she was witnessing the beginning of the end of her tribe, the tearing apart of it from it's very heart.

First will come the earthlings, then the hybrids, then our own... she thought to herself, a thought that had been running through her mind since the first extremists started showing up, trumpeting their views on the 'old ways' to the others. It was a fate she had prayed would be avoided, but one that seemed all too inevitable now...

And there was nothing she could do. Nothing she had any right to do. Dyakida leaned, heavily, on her staff and let the other voices swirl around her – more reason, more venom, more frustration. One, in particular, gave voice to her dark thoughts, and she felt some gratitude. It was, after all, something that someone should say. But in the end, she knew it was all for naught...

((Thank you Ariya for saying what Dyakida would have wanted to say if she wasn't feeling quiet)))

Lumikani Post 6

Walking away from her sisters, Lumikani noticed that the extremists began to drown out their voices. In fact, both sides seemed to scream for blood, and for all of the threats that her sisters claimed would occur if the extremists had their way, it sure seemed as if the 'non-extremists' were the ones who wanted to kill the sisters.

It was amazing how different the tribe was compared to the stories she heard of ages past. This was no Alkidike pride, this was squabbling like younglings and throwing a fit because no one was getting their way. Even she had been a victim of her true sisters putting words in her mouth, assuming she wanted blood when all she wanted to do was be the best Alkidike she was. There was no choice for Lumikani - if Aisha wanted the lands, she would give it to her. If hybrids followed Aisha, then they had nothing to fear. Aisha protects her children - it is those who turn her away that are the true failures.

As she passed by other warrior sisters, she heard them harass and yell at the matron. She snorted at each of them, scoffing and shaking her head.

"Who are the true extremists? The ones who wish to follow our ways and return our lands, or the ones who threaten to spill blood on Aisha's roots, blood of our sisters?" She said under her breath as she finally made her way through the crowd and to the podium, eyes looking up at the grand matron, the great mystic, and the warrioress matriarch.

It was amazing, Lumikani had heard so much about Yansa, the calm and collected warrior. Even she was breaking down in the chaos to be a voice of reason. That alone was a sign that things were getting close to a breakpoint. A bout of nervousness came over Lumikani as she faced away from all of her sisters, and looked at the elders before her.

She knew, in great times of need, Eshe was the one to turn to. Lumikani would respect matrons and matriarchs, but she knew at this point it was time to seek out Eshe's voice. Biting her lip, she took a deep breath before raising her head in pride, fueled by her drive to get the right answers and stop this stupid argument.

"Mystic...Matriarchs..." She said clearly, swallowing down any nerves and showing them the proper signs of respect, keeping her voice loud and proud as she was born to be, "...history has taught us that in times of strife and dissent, our great mother has reached out her arms and embraced us with her guidance. Surly as Aisha provides us with the power to bloom, she would guide us during our greatest divide."

"Aselia missing the greatest festival of our sisters...surly there is a reason. Surly the mother can provide us with the answers we need so we no longer fight over assumptions and each other."

"As sisters, no matter where we are or what we feel, we are all connected by Aisha. Aisha is in our blood, and she is our proof that we are strong. Has she any say on this idea to take Sauti?"

As Lumikani waited, she only hoped others would hear her question for answers and move forward to listen to the elders - as they should have done before this fighting began.

Anya post 6
Oh so now you go and ask people to tell you what to do, she thought sarcastically as she saw her stupid sister going to ask the Mystics to do her thinking for her. What ever happened to being strong? you can't be strong if you have others do everything for you and just blindly follow! There was something seriously wrong with her sister... maybe it's the religion? How had Lumi turned out so differently than she, Ashnai, or even Elsheba had? How had she turned into one of those fanatics who had been going around killing hybrids and hurting people out in the jungles?

Yitzah's words were... true. She's a tree. A tree we can't talk to, that can't effect us anymore than any other tree except that she gives us life. So why would anyone think a tree would tell them to go conquer and kill people? This had to be the actions and words of the people.. not the tree. That made her feel a bit bette; it wasn't their mother who was causing this. Just stupid people and blind hate or faith... or both.

The others attempt at comforting fell very short... but at least she tried ,Anya thought bitterly. "I've heard of the Dretch yes." Hard not too when she kept reading everything she could and was always on the look out for stories and knowledge. "But no idea more than that they are a threat." She snorted bitterly. "But then so are we..... especially with such stupidity spreading among sisters who just want to kill and are looking for excuses to glorify themselves." That made more sense to her than hatred.. how could you hate something you'd never met? Perhaps this was why they were acting this way; people wanting to go make a name for themselves and simply using the hatred of a few as an excuse!

NIABI POST 6

Niabi tried to keep her mind clear of all of the arguing around her, trying to focus on the little girl she was keeping company, but it was hard.

She continued to hear the words from both sides and as much as she wanted the extremists to just go away... she could also feel something inside of her telling her they were partly right. Her mothers were strong. They were warriors to the core, and though Niabi hadn't appreciated that when she was younger, she could see how strength was important.

She could see how the idea of hybrids and earthlings were making the Alkidike weak from within. Maybe it was best for the Alkidike to stand tall and proud again.

She looked to the little girl in front of her, with her alkidike skin and mixed everything else and just couldn't agree with the hate that spewed from those against the extremists. The extremists hadn't been the ones to say anything about killing pure Sisters - that was the earthling-lovers thoughts. That was the evil they were putting on the rest of their Sisters. Maybe they could just... stop mating with earthlings. Maybe there could be no new hybrids. And those that were mixed could choose to follow Aisha or not and just be accepted.

Shima asked her a question that had her stomach dropping. She shouldn't have to see this. Or hear all of this. She hugged the little girl and tried to answer her. "No... you don't have to leave. No one will make you. This will be over soon and then we can be happy again." She chewed her lip before speaking again. "I'm sorry little one... that you happened to come at such an angry time. It's not normally like this."

Shima post 5

Shima recoiled as the shouting got louder. After all it was when a very imposing looking elder took the stage that things really started to fire up. A lot of thinks were confusing to her, earthlings? Vermin? Wasn't her mother a earthling? Did that mean she was part rodent? A pest?

Looking up to Niabi who looked rather unsure about all of this she returned to look at the crowd, trying to pinpoint her ma amongst the other giant women and could only vaguely see her beside the big hipped woman named Voll...Voll..er..ie? Shima admitted she couldn't quite remember her name, but she had just met her.

"...does..this mean..I should leave?" She whispered to Niabi looking rather scared as more people got violent.

Jerarda Post 5

It was when the elder Matron began to speak that she felt her entire body tremble in anger. Though she knew she should respect the woman she wanted to shake her instead. Maybe by taking her by the shoulders and giving her a good shake she could get her to understand that what she was saying was wrong.

She looked to Vollerie who was speaking the words she had stuck inside her head that so desperately wanted to get out. Voll was quite the diplomat and it heartened her to hear such words coming from her friend. Jerarda couldn't speak in such ways, she was more the type to pound a person to get her point across, but she would stick close to Vollerie in case anyone tried to jump her.

"We have fought against and with earthlings, I feel that we are better suited to work with the other races of the land rather than against them. "
PostPosted: Wed Jul 01, 2015 3:24 pm

Nyah, post... 3, probably. (I'm no longer doing this for the sake of VP, just because)

Nyah couldn't believe the amount of jewelry that the Matron was wearing, and stepped to the side of Aisha as she spoke. Suddenly, she was nervous, as if everything was finally hitting her. Everyone was arguing, people wanted to kill other people, what was going on?! This was Mother Aisha's festival, not a place to argue! Her heart skipped and clamored against her chest. She... She had to either get out of here, or say something, but she had been completely ignored by the elders the last time she spoke. Her gaze turned to the matron, then to Kadriye, Eshe, and Yansa, before turning toward the trees again.

"I don't think we're going to have a compromise." She muttered to Sid as she slipped toward the shadows again. "My sisters are hopeless, I should've left with Sasaya, Nesrine, and Susuya when I had the chance."

Zahra Post 6

Zahra lifted a hand to pat her sister on the head, not wanting to see her upset. She much preferred her sister when she was in a better mood, one that involved jokes and making big messes as far as their pranks went. How she missed pranking people, running around playing, and not getting in arguments about race and which was superior. She didn't want to be serious, she'd much rather just be making messes... but that wasn't something that was going to be allowed right now. She would have to wait until things cooled down... or at least until they got away from Chibale.

"Hmm, I guess you're right, huh?" Tale was near to Sauti, wasn't it? She didn't really want to go running closer to the problem but at the same time it wasn't as though she wanted to go to Oba either. She only remembered the Obans as being aggressive and scary, much like the extreme amongst her sisters were acting. Both seemed to be too interested in war for her liking. So that left... what? Zena and Matori, both were too far away and one was far, far too cold from all they had learned from their mother. Tale seemed to be the best option since at least they had family there, "I don't like the idea of running right into the midst of where battles might be happening but our family is in Tale. It feels like it's where we should go! And who knows, maybe we will find Lulu on the way." If they did they would bring their friend along with them to make sure to get her far away from harms way.

Turning from Joweese toward their gathered sisters she was a bit surprised when others seemed to echo her words, questioning what the extremists might do when they were finished with the earthlings and the hybrids. She hadn't thought it was a question anyone else might want an answer to but perhaps they would get one? She had to admit she was curious, as well as a little leery. She didn't want to see Ilyra get targeted next or something since their mother did seem keen on her.
