"Ugggh. Dad listened to country. And sang way off key to it too..." He wasn't a fan of it. He wanted to ask if Chance liked any kind of music, when he found that wet sand, once in his hand, had been smushed into his cheek. He flicked his gaze, narrow and seething at Chance. That little s**t... "Oh. I see how it is.." He grumbled, letting go of Chance's hand. And promptly pouncing on him. He'd get that nice pretty shirt of his all dirty. He smeared muddy sand on the man's face as well in revenge.

He was going to be nice and talk about music, and it wasn't like he wasn't interested, because he was - but the sand was right there in his hand, and Otto was right there, and Chance was feeling, well, peckish. And just a teeny bit mischievous.
Or maybe a lot mischievous.
He had a split second to recognize that Otto had let go of his hand, and then Chance gave a squawk of surprise and tumbled back, batting at Otto's hands. The wet sand smeared across his cheek, and he let out a shout, Chance scooping up another handful.
"Oh, no you don't," he said, and wiped his wet, sandy, muddy fingers over Otto's neck, trying to shove some of the sand down the back of his shirt.

Otto yelped and began to wriggle away. "N-no! That's cold! Ugggh that's so gross!" Wet, slimy, gritty sand down his back. The young man rolled around whining as he struggled to get it out.

He couldn't help his laughter, Chance grappling for Otto's wrists.
"Payback," he said gleefully, though there was nothing actually to be paid back. Chance was just being obnoxious.

"For what? You started it, idiot!" Otto griped, furrowing his brows as he struggled against Chance. He even used a leg, pushing it against Chance's chest and turning it into a full on wrestling match. "Whatever. I'll finish it, then."

"I definitely - " The rest of his sentence was cut off, thanks to Otto's knee against his chest. Chance pushed back against Otto, trying to shove his leg away from him.
" - did not start anything, I'm always innocent."

"As if! You're so full of it." Otto continued to try and win the grappling war, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw a bigger wave coming. They'd be soaked! "Aw s**t!" He tried to roll them both out of the way of it.

They were not, alas, quite as successful at getting away as they probably hoped.
At least, Chance wasn't. The wave rolled merrily onto the shore, splashing and frothing, and soaking Chance from his waist up as he attempted to roll with Otto away from it, and the result was a bunch of sand getting in places that sand had no right to be in.
Also his hair was now wet and dripping into his eyes. And he was flopped on the sand, probably looking pathetic.
Chance burst into laughter.

Otto was none so lucky either. The wave had really come out of nowhere. He was soaked. Completely. Rather than laugh, even thought Otto was actually amused, he chose to whine and groan about it. "I'm sooooaked!" He spat, wincing as he realized there was sand in his mouth. "Ugh gross! Who said it was a good idea to go to the beach?" It was you, Otto.

Chance crawled over towards Otto, pressed a hand to his chest, buried his face against his shoulder, and promptly shook his head like a wet dog, spraying water everywhere.
"I'm pretty sure that was you," he said pointedly, still struggling to contain his laughter, which bubbled out of him in droves.

"Ugh! Dude! No!" The man was a menace! A damned menace! Otto lifted an arm to try and protect himself from the spray of water and sand coming off of Chance's curls. "I'm pretty sure I'd never suggest somethin' so dumb." Lies. However, the sun would likely dry them off on it's own. It was the sand in his clothes that bothered him more.

He lifted his head and grinned, settling down with his chin resting on Otto's shoulder. The sand was cool beneath him, the sun warming his damp hair and clothing.
"I dunno, you've had some pretty dumb suggestions before," Chance deadpanned, a curl sticking wetly to his cheek. "I'm like, ninety percent certain you're the one that was going to roll us straight into that wave."

"Nuh uh! I was tryin' to roll us away, but you're too slow." He fought back with confidence, the back of his head sinking into the sand. "Your fault."

"You seem awfully content to blame me for things," said Chance indignantly. "I'm pretty damn certain this entire outing was your idea, therefore - "
He prodded Otto in the side of his face with two fingers.
"Totally your fault. You now owe me a million dollars. Pay up, sucker."

Otto grumbled, because yes this had been his idea. "I owe you nuthin'." He turned his head to leer at him. "Cuz you're havin' fun anyway." Which meant of course that Otto himself was having fun. "I could just do with less sand in my clothes."
