Shun sighed and went back down the stairs. He did check under the stairs for anything, if possible.
This time however, he was rewarded with a piece of paper someone had hastily jammed under the stairs:

[Zar]
Zar didn't expect there to be anything under the table, and was surprised when he saw the strange rectangular object, he moved under the table a little further to get a better look at the gilding and gently rapped his knuckles on the metal to see if it was hollow or solid before feeling along the sides to make sure hinges were all that there were.
He had no idea what it was, but figured it had something to do with the strange text on the table itself, the table itself was too heavy to steal, as was this thing but what was within might not be, and this smelled like a safety deposit box.

Lurks clutched the word close to her chest, brushing her knotted hair out of her eyes.
"No," she told Wilson petulantly. "There is a stupid on the table and I don't want to." With bandaged fingers, she leaned in close to the crying stupid and poked it hard, right in the ribs.
As an afterthought, she turned to Wilson and blinked: "But it is break. The word, I mean. It is a good word."

Lurks is little more than five feet tall, including the voluminous amount of rags covering them from head to toe. Half cloak and half bandage, Lurks still looks like the beggar they used to be, before becoming a knight, as they're uncomfortable being exposed in any capacity. A high cowl or scarf always covers the lower portion of their face, meaning they're a little-bit muffled most of the time. They always carry a small corn husk doll, if only they could remember what it was for...
The only hint that they're a knight at all comes in the form of a paltry scythe, which is only a little bit taller than they are.

Szczeosny nodded and strode over to place the map page down over Thackery's face. There was something deeply unsettling about hearing the name 'Mordred' echoing in the room like a mourning wail. Maybe this would muffle it a bit.
gently rapped his knuckles on the metal to see if it was hollow or solid before feeling along the sides to make sure hinges were all that there were.
It was indeed hollow, though the hinges did not want to seem to unloosen anytime soon. Something clicked as he rapped his knuckles against it, like something unlocking.
An insult that would be remembered for centuries to come, surely.

He nodded at Lurks and smiled kindly. "Thank you." And as people began to gather their words together, Wilson stared at the words and tried to place them into the spaces of the prophecy. "...Ah."
It would be good to tell everyone about the prophecy. "The table has, um, a prophecy on it, but there are some blank spaces, so I think the words here go with it, and, um, yes." He said lamely to everyone in the room. Wilson just decided to kneel down and join Zar in staring at the object underneath the table.

Zar paused, tilting his head at the sound of the click before narrowing his eyes suspiciously at the object. It was dusty down here and with everyone talking and Thackery's thumping around over his head he could hardly be sure that he heard it. Still, he was sure he had and he didn't give up just yet, patiently checking all around the object with his hands one last time to make sure the sound had not changed anything about it before he slithered off to check out anything else.

Horace had, of course, written down the puzzle and each word people whispered were on there papers. And then, abruptly, he decided <******** it. The knights in here could unlock whatever dangerous business they ******** wanted. He moved to the door and leaned against the entrance. Of course, he still jotted down anything of interest, but really - what were they trying to accomplish here? And his spot had the major advantage of it being the exit and therefor, when s**t happened, he'd leave completely.
[if a character wants, they can approach Horace for the incomplete riddle as well as any words spoken aloud, otherwise he's essentially ollied out]

Shun tilted his head and grabbed the slip of paper. Taking it, he unfurled it and squinted at what was written. He couldn't read, though.
"Oi. I found something here," he mumbled, making his way towards the table. He tossed the slip on, letting the others who could read deal with where to put it.

"What does it say?" she asked, "I do not know how to read."
In the meanwhile, Lurks began using part of her cloak to try and smother Thackery, and Great King only knew where it had been. Maybe not even him. Needless to say, it was pretty gross.
"Keys are not good at all," Lurks yipped back, equally getting louder, and even more shrill. "Get off get off get off GET OFF!"
Unfortunately, she wasn't really strong enough to push Tack off by herself.

Having heard the murmurs regarding Violet's Great Knight, Mildred approached the tower with some trepidation. The suspicion surrounding Mordred didn't trouble her - not from Mordred's end, at least - and she kept her distance from the crowd that had gathered around the door, standing only alongside Robert, concerned that she might get swept up in ill intentions.
She had already very clearly witnessed what happened to those whose humanity was doubted.
When the door opened, she took Robert's hand and slipped in behind the others, still exercising caution to avoid drawing any unnecessary attention to herself. This was immediately forgotten when she discovered what the door opened into: an astronomer's tower, more advanced than the similar tower within her memory.
"Oh! Oh! I am familiar with this!" she excitedly cried, tugging at the hand she still tightly held onto, neglecting any sensible behavior in her excitement to discover a physical, visible place where she might have been useful here. "This is an observatory! Tools for astronomy! I am an astronomer!"
Then she finally caught the sound of her own poor decisions leaving her mouth, and she quickly, hastily clarified: "Was. I was an astronomer. I am a Knight now. I...serve the...King...!"
She'd made an effort to help her case, but sounding as though she might vomit while speaking the last of her assurances sort of brought her to a net negative. The reaction that almost reflexively snapped out of her, upon witnessing the destruction of the telescope, certainly did her no favors either.
"You imbecile!" she spat, pointing an accusatory finger at the offender. "You have broken it! Not everything can be solved with physical force!"

Hollandaise flinched at all the noise and the sudden mass of knights everywhere. She seemed to wilt in on herself, wrapping her arms tightly around her middle. There were too many people. And then Wilson broke the cylindrical object and she squeaked in surprise. She turned and took off, away from the people, running up the stairs two steps at a time. She didn't care if nothing was up there, she wanted quiet and away and somewhere people wouldn't accidentally touch her.
