Merrick yelped in surprise as one water sphere hit him in the face, dousing him with cold water and waking him up, as he'd almost been dozing in the hot water. The second, however, made him squeal in surprise before he pressed his palms to the water before pulling them away and flicking his wrists, sending two spheres of water the size of softballs, one of warm water, the other of icy water, at Cassie. "Catch," he said with a giggle.

Merrick was surprised as both spheres splattered over him before he heard Tess yelp in surprise. He blinked a couple of times, confused for a moment, as he saw that some of the splash had caught Tess' habit/dress. He cocked his head, unaware his ears were twitching slightly as a momentary glow pulsed, highlighting Tess' fur with bluish lavender edges for a few seconds before the glow faded away, leaving Tess' dress completely dry. Almost immediately, his stomach grumbled loudly, the sound burbling slightly.

Merrick nodded before he blushed, unsure if he should stand or not. He pressed his palms to the surface of the water before straightening his arms, hearing Tess and Tansy gasp in surprise as he rose out of the water, the life-giving liquid running down his body as he crouched upon the liquid surface as if it were solid land. He tensed his muscles and released, pushing off into an arcing somersault before he landed near the end of the tub. He was, however, surprised by the towel that hit him in the face almost immediately before he blinked a couple of times from where he almost sprawled by the tub, seeing Cassie blushing with her arm extended as if she'd thrown something. "How'd you do that?" he said curiously, tilting his head, unaware that for just an instant, the barely noticeable forms of two deep silvery blue fox ears flickered over his head.

Merrick blushed as he thought Cassie looked pretty. He blinked as he saw her blush, unaware he'd spoken aloud. "I'd like that. I've been seeing... odd people around the abbey at home... it's hard to explain, but they feel... off, wrong somehow," he said softly, unaware that demons were uncommon, but very much real. His stomach grumbled audibly as he dried himself off, a pensive look on his face. "Maybe you teaching me about this 'magic' can wait until after we eat? I'll be honest, the... monks at... the abbey.... they're nice, but it doesn't feel like a home... and the food really stinks," he said dryly, blushing. He didn't realize that he'd been dressed in comfortable dark blue jeans and a baggy pale yellow tee shirt with a tribal sunburst on the front.

Merrick glanced over to Tess, who was looking quite amused before she offered her furred hand. "We never did get to eat whatever you were fixing, now that I think about it," he said softly, feeling Tess pull him to a small alcove and stool near the entrance as Tansy giggled, tugging Cassie insistently next to her. He tensed unintentionally as he felt something brush the back of his neck before he realized Tess was brushing his hair. He heard a low purring sound, unaware it was himself. He saw Cassie trying not to laugh, unaware that his Kitsune ears were poking through his hair, their silvery navy color contrasting with his dark bronze-gold hair.

Merrick blinked at Tess, who was giggling softly, before he looked confused at Cassie's words. "Huh? I know I have ears... wait, ears poking through my hair?" he said softly, first with mild confusion, then annoyance, then back to confusion as he didn't quite get what she was saying; he knew he had ears, though... he didn't see why ears would be poking through his hair. He jumped slightly as fingers brushed the Kitsune ears, unaware that a tail materialized in a momentary flicker of soft radiance and almost immediately started swaying as his purr grew louder. He hadn't realized, that, while sitting on the stool, he was a few inches taller than Cassie, when normally he was even with her shoulder. Tansy wasn't even trying to hold back her laughter. "That's... ha... ha ha ha ha.... so.... ha ha ha... adorable!!" she giggled.

Merrick exhaled softly, his eyes closing as he felt the brush running through his thick, unruly hair. "Strange, I've noticed... sometimes, that my senses were sharper than normal, but that's it," he said softly as he shifted a bit. He blinked a few times, a bit startled as he saw his reflection as the Kitsune ears twitched curiously. "How?" he said softly, confused. Tansy giggled, noticing the fox ears twitching as if he didn't realize how to control them.
