• • • The two continued their maze like journey until Rae finally decided to pop her head out into a main street to set her bearings. To her good fortune, which almost never happened, the Gym she had been searching for was right down the road. To her misfortune, which was much more common, there were tons of people crowding the city street. Grumbling to herself about how much disdain she held for the city, Rae returned Jay to the confines of his ball before daring to venture out.
From her past couple of experiences in Goldenrod, she had learned to duck and weave rather quickly through the crowds. Though her bright, revealing outfit caught a few eyes, Rae managed to make it through the mass without causing an uproar. She hustled to the front doors of the public gym and went inside the building without hesitation.
Her heart pounded from having to be around so many people, and it took her a few minutes to get the muscle to calm down. Once it settled, she took a deep breath and tried her best to prepare herself mentally for the battle ahead.
Hello? She called out hesitantly to anyone who may have been standing around, not sure what the gym leader looked like, Is the leader of this gym available for a battle?

She said as she threw the containment unit, releasing her Dragonair, I'm counting on you, pal! Use Thunderwave on that pink thing! She suggested, hoping that her leadership would prove strong enough for her Pokémon to obey. Unfortunately, Jay seemed quite nervous and only looked at her hesitantly. Rae clenched in frustration as the command went unfulfilled.

Let's bring this Dragon down with an Ice Beam!" she ordered, her other hand on her hip. The pokemon leaned back, opening his maw wide, a cold beam gathering in his mouth, then shooting out at the enemy to hit hard.

She couldn't help but curse herself for neglecting her leadership. That, and the fact that the opponent had an Ice attack. That would mean trouble for her team. C'mon, Jay! Shake it off and strike back! She insisted, only getting a hurt glare from the dragon as her reply.

The defense buff essentially compensates for a pokemon's ability to negate damage done to it : ) Which is constant, unless the pokemon's defense is raised or lowered. It's calculated at the end because it has to do with the damage received. The attack buff is calculated with type effectiveness, on the other hand, because it adds to the pokemon's base power, and abiliy to deal damage. Both are set at intervals of ten, one digit less than the pokemon's level, starting at 20. So at level 20, attack and defense (and Sp. of both) get +10, at level 30, +20, and so on. Does that help? :0 Or did I just totally make myself look like an idiot and over explain it? >_> ;;; Also, there's plans to make a more detailed explanation soon, since we realize the system can be a little confusing. We've just all been a bit busy and hope to tackle that, as well as the other loose ends, this up coming week after tests : )

Jay was shivering with the icy crystals forming on each blue scale of his, unable to move because of the deep cold penetrating his reptilian skin. Jus taking one look into those scared orbs made her cringe.Think you can take one more hit, bud? She asked with a grimace. Jay's eyes narrowed in sudden determination and Rae knew she wasn't calling him back any time soon.

Following the forest trail out Yukie finally made it out and onto the open fields just outside of Golden Rod city. It was to flat to set up a camp here and not be seen but it was also a large stretch of land. Quite a good few miles lay between and separating the forest, ocean and the city from one another.
Yukie wished he had a large pokemon he could ride on to make the journey faster making a mental note to find and capture a Gogoat, Rapidash or even a Stantler would do. He honestly liked the idea of a Stantler better then the others due to its mystical horns being able to confuse people.

There must be a call to all the Pokemon in the area that Simon was trying to catch new Pokemon as the first Pokemon to attack was a female Nidoran. Sending out Braixen to battle against the Pokemon he wanted her to try out her newest move, a psychic move over the fire ones. Taking out her twig the tip burst into flames just getting ready for a fight.

Braixen fired off a circular wave of the Psybeam out at the little Pokemon which both did damage and confused it. However the Nidoran was able to break through the confusion this time before stinging Braixen and poisoning her. A bit more and he could take her to the Pokecenter to heal up, but first the win.
