After lining a few things in order Gio decided to get heading towards Saffron City. He let out his Skarmory first to make things a little easier to find Team Rocket when he got there. He made sure his Lucario was going to be searching for unusual Aura's that just seemed abit on the cruel side. With that he was ready to get going and they headed off for Saffron to get the next step of his journey out of the way

BACK in Vermilion City. You know now that he thought of it, the Gym Leaders here must be pretty upset with him. He had pretty much destroyed every Gym in Kalos he had been to. Well there would be a lot of work in repairs at least. He knew that this Gym, Lt. Surge, was no exception. It didn't take a whole lot of time to finally get up and close to Vermillion City. Alex had remembered a few shortcuts from when he was a younger kid and it seemed to speed things up. "Finally, back home, it really hasn't changed a bit, Eevee." He said with a smile that made any thoughts of being homesick leave him entirely. Eevee was happy to see her trainer in such high spirits and decided to let him soak everything in again. Slowly, he continued to walk and through the port city, remembering all the streets like the back of his hand. He'd head straight home, but not before a little sightseeing. It really had been awhile since the last time smelling the sea. This really was still the best city for a water pokemon trainer. After half an hour of reliving what it was like to be in his hometown, he began to make his way back to his house.
It didn't take them too long to finally reach his house, which looked identical to how he left it. A small garden with some berries, probably the most they should deal with, without having the plants die on them. Alex headed for the front door and opened it, before stepping inside.

Cyrus didn't waste any time getting to the gym with Papyrus in tow. He was pretty confident that even without training, this ground type should be able to take out Surge's pokemon. The Egyptian submitted his challenge to the much larger gym leader, with most the same disinterest as he had with the others.
The battle was going smoothly, thought with all the quick attacks, it didn't seem like the scarf Papyrus was given was working. Papyrus was excited to be battling, gaining confidence as he took down two of the electric types. However, after hitting Raichu once, Papyrus took one hit too many and despite his determination to stay in the fight, he fainted. Cyrus grimaced and returned the crocodile to it's ball. Whatever. The stupid rat was probably weak enough. He then released Rita into battle.
Rita was confused as she finally was let out of her ball, but seemed to be in battle. Lucky for Cyrus, she was eager to show off her power and lunched a dark pulse from her canons, taking out Raichu while it readied an electric attack.

The battle had been a rough one, but the gym leader was left feeling unsatisfied at the end of it. "Not bad there, kid. It's a shame you're not as into it as your pokemon," he told Cyrus as he approached. He then held out a yellow and orange badge, as well as a TM. "Anyway, you've earned these. This Thunder Badge will help you get around easier, and I'm sure at least one of your pokemon can benefit from a good Thunder TM." Too bad he never actually got to use the attack, but that's what happens when someone brings a ground type into an electric gym.

"Yeah whatever." Cyrus replied to the gym leader, taking his winnings and leaving after returning Rita to her ball. He returned to the pokemon center for once, healing up his pokemon. He didn't stay long, walking out as soon as his crocodile was fully healed. Though the reptile had fainted, he still did pretty good throughout the battle. Which made him quite useful to Cyrus. Not to mention, the krokorok seemed to have an odd attachment to him that he hadn't quite experienced before. At least not in a long time.
Argo took it upon himself to learn the newly gained hm, flying around higher than before. The Wingull somehow managed to upset a Fearow nearby though, and it followed as Argo fled back to Cyrus. "What the ******** did you do, Argo?" Cyrus cursed, seeing the angered Fearow speeding in towards them. Before he had a chance to react - to send out another pokemon - the large bird rammed into Cyrus, claws grabbing at him. "LET ME GO YOU STUPID BIRD!" Cyrus shouted, concerned for his clothes. He held tightly to the legs of the pokemon as it lifted off the ground, seeming to have unfinished business with Argo. Cy felt sick as he found himself suspended in air, watching the scenery below grow smaller and smaller. The fearow squawked and darted after the fleeing Wingull, Cyrus in tow.

It didn’t take long for Lafayette to find the gym, though he did have to scale a fence when an elderly gentleman blocking the only entrance in refused to move. It was annoying but certainly not as annoying as the situation he found himself in once he stepped inside. There were numerous trash cans lined up in rows for some reason and it wasn’t long before the gym informant told him why. Apparently… to get to Surge he had to flip the appropriate switches and to do that he had to find them. Which was mind numbingly crazy. So far the gyms had been pretty straightforward and a puzzler was the last thing he was expecting.
It took quite a while honestly to find the right ones. He’d press one and then upon pressing a second one, they’d reset. And then the same switch wouldn’t work the second time; it was a bit nightmarish to go through but eventually with the help of his pokemon, he found the right combination. The doors creaked to life and opened at the other side of the room and Lafayette squinted as a battle field appeared on the other side with a military-esque gentleman standing on the other side.
”Well kid, it looks like you got through my traps! It took you too long though, you’d never make it in a war!” The man barked, earning a look of confusion from Lafayette. What war and where? He had to remind himself that gym leaders spent a lot of time cooped up in their gyms to remember what the world outside was like. Or maybe this guy was just stuck in the past. Either way, he shook his head and stepped up to the challenger’s box.
"I’m jus’ here feh a battle mate." Surge gave him a bit of a look before letting out a laugh, thumb flicking his nose. ”Well alright then! You’ve got guts kid, I’ll give you that. But my pokemon and I have seen war, so you better be ready for the shock of your life.” Lafayette just gave a blank stare and nodded. Whatever then.

Large fingers combed their way through Surge's cropped hair before the gym leader heaved a sigh and slipped his sunglasses on. "Maybe I was wrong about you, kid," he mused, one hand cupping his chin as he gave thought to their battle. He made sure not to just stand in one place, however, as he contemplated and began moving about, collecting Lafayette's winnings, after he'd returned his Voltorb. "Maybe, if you added a little more experience to that tool belt of yours, you would survive the war." In layman's term? With enough training of the blonde's pokemon, he'd become a force to be reckoned with. "Hell, that first battle alone drained my batteries." Surge flashed a grin before he presented Lafay with his badge and a TM. "The Thunder badge and, appropriately, TM Thunder. Use 'em well, kid." The man's grin seemed to gain some shine as he looked down at the other, above his glasses. "It might just make you a better soldier."

After leaving the house, he was back in Vermillion City. It felt like he was refreshed and ready to start the next stage of his journey. The experience of going home for the first time was one he'd never forget. It made Alex happy, having such great support, even if he'd been travelling alone for the longest time now. Either way, those were thoughts for a later date, for now, he was going to attempt and win his third badge in Kanto. This gym challenge was going to be interesting and a lot of fun. He hoped at least, being from Vermillion City, he knew exactly the kind of guy that the gym leader was. Alex was obsessed with water pokemon. Lt. Surge on the other hand was clearly quite fond of electric types. Sure, they had their differences, but if it was anything, the gym leader could probably have been considered a rival. "Lets go, Eevee, I don't plan on leaving that place without the badge." The normal type nodded her head and looked up toward him, wondering just how much her trainer knew the gym leader. Alex grinned, ready to go. He began walking through the streets and toward the gym. He knew his way around, so he'd be there in a matter of minutes.
