There was ONE thing for absolute certain, as far as dainty Amanohara Seichou was concerned: it was entirely too sunny for hard work. It was not that he was lazy, it was just that he had done so much blessed work, already; his mother, displeased with having borne such a useless son, had given Sei the duties that he wouldn't damn his own husbands with. It meant Sei was up first each morning, and asleep last each night; thus, there were cramps in the poor Gehaka's body that never quite eased unless he was on the backside of a sketchpad covered in charcoal. And even now, the smell of charcoal and the dust clinging to hands and clothes alike, was growing wearisome to him. He desperately wanted to be cool, rather than perspiring beneath his robes in stress, his wings cramped and his always-cool temper rising as he squinted down at the cool water, feeling his tongue cleave to the roof of his mouth. Water.

The cool water felt so grand on Shi's dry, perspiring skin. He wished that he had gills rather than lungs so that he might never rise out of the wonderful mountain stream again... The water was so clear that he could see the silver fish glinting as they swam through the water... but sooner or later he had to come up for air... and his lungs were aching for oxygen...
Shizuka burst out of the water, his hair having come loose from its holder long ago. He laughed aloud, flinging his hair back and forth and flapped his great white wings with vigor. Water droplets sprayed every whichways. After he stopped flinging his hair, it clung to his back and wings. He held his arms out to the sky and grinned, still laughing like a madman... luckily, he was facing away from the shorline, else he would have wanted to drown at that moment... He never noticed someone lingering there... watching the water that he burst out of...(Sorry that took so long...)

The other in the stream made the very restrained, shy Seichou blush and scoot back slightly, taken aback. He pulled at his fluffy hair, feeling it matted slightly against his skin, and frowned with distaste at his own sweaty, uncomfortable state as he gravitated toward the stream. A frown of yearning creased his brow, and he licked his lips. Just one taste -- dangling his feet into the water -- washing his -face- even! "E-excuse me -- excuse me," Seichou called softly, blushing deeply until the honey tone of his face was deepened with crimson, "would you be terribly -- terribly bothered if I joined you?"

Enju gave an understanding nod. His wings gave a final shake before he rose. He carefully hopped across towards the Haka, pausing as he dropped on a knee in front of him. It wasn't the most comfortable position but he didn't mind much. The fish in the basket squirmed slightly, they were still fresh and he'd have to cook them here.
He was unusually nervous at the moment. It wasn't often Haka were out near the river and even more unusual that they'd approach him when he was working. As many thoughts suddenly passed by, he vaugely wondered if Haka could or were allowed to swim...

Shizuka was sighing aloud when he heard a soft voice behind him. His ears pricked terribly and he shrieked, "AHHH!" He completely lost his balance in the water and began flapping around like a drowning bird; his shy clumisness was beginning to show. The true side of him, not the beautiful creature that had -only seconds ago- been so comfortable and so confident.
Shi ended up landing in the water on his knees, attempting to hide in the water up to his chest. He now stared at Seichou with fear and confusion. "I-I-I..." he started. "Th-This isn't m-my river. I'm sorry if I've po-polluted it for you. I can get out if y-you'd like..." He said, raising and diverting his eyes. He started for the bank, trembling from embarrassment and the feeling that he'd just been seen swimming. His cheeks were maroon in stark contrast with his ivory skin.

"O-oh no, no," Seichou said, flustered himself now, his wings flaring slightly and flipping, generally making themselves twitchy nuisances. "No, I'd love to share with you," he stammered, "I just, I'm sweaty and the water looked so nice, and you looked like you were enjoying yourself..." His wings continued to twitter and Sei generally looked miserable, hastening to back up, one ear drooping and twitching.

Masae took a step backwards as the Gehaka approached. What on earth was he doing. Out alone and talking to a strange Gehaka. Ryuu was going to kill him when he found out, either that or laugh at him. For once he hoped it would be the latter. Ryuu's teasing was much easier to bear than his anger. nervously he pulled his fan from his obi and flicked it open. "No need to kneel." He remarked, waving the fan in the air. "All this groveling is giving me a migraine. My family name is Ametani. You may use that."
He looked to the fish and then once again to the Gehaka. "You said you worked for your mother. Tell me did your mother teach you to write? Are you any good with a brush?"

Shi paused, looking at Sei, still blushing profusely. He presently became more comfortable again and retreated again into the water's cool domain. His head sticking above the water, he asked, "What's wrong with your wings?" as if there were something seriously wrong with them. (He was merely concerned.)
"Please... come in... it's so hot out there..." Shi said, smiling a little and splashing a small wave toward the new Gehaka. "My name is Tsukiko, Shizuka. May I have your name?"
He hoped he wasn't asking too much... he felt Sei to be very much a kindred spirit. He seemed just as shy, just as clumsy, and just as nervous as Shizuka felt at that very moment. Perhaps they could be friends?

Enju couldn't help but grin wildly and stood. The poor Gehaka was curious about the question but answered anyway, forgetting that at anytime, a Haka could take him. It wass normally a very touchy subject for him and he was constantly haunted by it, very frightened that'd he be tied down to some unpleasant Haka. Or even worse a Haka that hated flowers. He narrowed his eyes thoughtfully, the smile shrinking but still radiating its ungodly sweetness.
"Writing? Yes, I can write. My main area of expertise is botany but yes, I can read and write."
Reading and writing was a thing that his mother had been unsure about teaching him but when he wasn't feeling up to doing paper work, the notion had become more appealing.

Masae smirked. "One would hope you could write." He said rather cruelly. He was not known for his pleasantries. His mother's Gehaka thought him so cold they were convinced he had been born in a blizzard. "I mean calligraphy, painting with ink?"
Idley he stared at the patterns on his fan and thought of a better way to put things. "So you like flowers?" He said softening his voice. "Could you take that beauty and recreate it in simple sweeping strokes of ink?"

"Amanohara Seichou," Sei answered as he gratefully began to peel off the layers of his clothes, disrobing with no hint of shyness at all. His honey-colored body was lean with the work his mother forced out of him. "A-and it's a nervous twitch..." Upon being accepted, he felt his wings relax, drooping faintly. "My mother's husband used to drag me out of bed by them when I was a child." He carefully folded his clothes, charcoal stained as they were and placed them in a neat pile, and moved, unabashedly naked, to join the other with a slightly clumsy motion, sliding into the water.

Enju wrinkled his nose at the others tone but found it oddly enticing. His ears dropped, thinking back to any training he might have had with calligraphy. He had some long ago...maybe Seichou could help him! With his next question he grinned, sliding his hands behind his neck.
"I...think I could...yea, I can."
What an odd thing to ask, Enju thought. He was ever being tempted to look up and get a good view of the Haka and was just about to ready to break.

Shizuka nodded, "It's a pleasure to meet you Sei." He watched with mild interest as Sei disrobed. The color of his skin was beautiful, but smudged with black all over the place. Then, as Sei removed his last article of clothing, Shi became a bit nervous. What would someone think if they saw two Gehaka swimming together completely nude? - Well, with Sei completely nude; Shi was still wearing his trousers, but they were quickly sliding off. (They're far too big for him; hand-me-downs from his TWO older brothers.)
Hearing the sad story behind his nervous twitch, Shi decided not to further talk about Sei's terrible treatment, but merely stated. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to bring up something painful... I was just curious..."
"What are all those black stains on your clothes and body? They're not bruises are they," asked Shi, become the most defensive he'd ever been for anyone in his life. (What little defense he could offer.) He didn't like the fact that Sei could be treated so cruelly... even Shizuka had never been treated that badly.

Reizo's eyes scanned the other Haka critically, eyes half-lidded as if still bored. If Shinku was a mess, then the artist Haka was perfectly made up. There were aspects about him that seemed messy - such as his hair, falling down in places and stuck through with chopsticks - but even they were carefully planned. "Good day." His eyes moved to the river. "I apologize for disturbing you."
Shinji continued to scan the situation, nodding pleasently to Kageki.

Masae smiled and fanned himself, though the day was not that warm. "You must think my questions odd." He said looking out over the river. "My family business is calligraphy. Re-creating the natural beauty of the world in words or simple, yet delicate pictures. Each word is an art form. I cannot abide people who have no appreciation for beauty." He sighed lightly and glanced back to the flailing fish thoughtfully. "Are you walking back to town?"
