SpeechbubbleAbout Vantiva is one of a large number of children provided to Avalyn and Lalita after Avalyn got pregnant during her Adulthood Ceremony.
Avalyn had given birth to six (and he's actually one of the six) and that, alone, for a non-elder was noteworthy and got some attention from the flock. But then the spirits began multiplying the baskets whenever the Sacred Daughters, acolytes of the sacred mothers, looked away from the nursery. They've lost track of which kids were actually the ones born of Avalyn, as their baskets hadn't colored yet when they started multiplying unexpectedly in the nursery, eventually ending up with over 50 baskets. It drew quite a bit of attention by the entire religious order, as well as most of the flock in general, having such a large boom in population.
Vantiva however resisted any calling to be part of any part of the religious circles, not wishing to be a Whistler set to be on some sort of fast track toward Sacred Sirehood simply because of his inclusion in such a large event within the Flock, and instead grew up to become a Dancer, Model, and costume designer. He is sometimes hired out by accessory designers to display their goods, and he has the grace of his grandmother Vanya and the flashy good looks of his father. While he lacks the multiple wings of his sisters, he's still enjoys showing off his lovely set of wings, which he gets the flight feathers cut into decorative designs that still show off the colors and markings.
Vantiva was originally given the name "Vanti", roughly meaning "Show off" or "Praise", due to his habits of preening and showing off his wings even from a young age and glowing at any sort of praise and attention he got (being one of approximately 50 siblings, not all of the children got named right away) However as he got older, he grew into loving Dance, and being quite good at it. Learning that the name "Tiva" means "Dance", he took the meaning of Van from his fellow Dancer and grandmother Vanya to be Beauty, he started adding a va to the end of his name when being presented for a dance, transforming his given name into "Beautiful Dance" For performances. Some still call him Vanti, but most know him as Vantiva.
