Lip smirked, "I'd say we were well matched... I'll certainly ache tomorrow..." He told the other. He was completely serious, some of the others blows would definitely bruise and ache for the next few days.. maybe even a week. Lip was just lucky enough to get the last hit in... or he'd lost for sure.
"Shun.... Shun.. Nice to meet you." Repeated his name, something he did when he met someone to help remember their name. He gave the other a small smile, "Think I've seen you in the dorm area." He added, certain he was right.

Yes! Well fought! They can be great battle friend/rivals!
Zin was more surprised than hurt by Alec's deft maneuver. For a moment she sat on the ground with a dumb expression, and then what had happened clicked and she broke out into a grin. She accepted Alec's help, gripping his hand and standing as he pulled her.
"That was a great fight," she said, still breathing a bit more heavily than usual. "I'll definitely demand a rematch sometime. We're pretty good battle partners." She elbowed him playfully and looked around. It seemed that most people were finishing up now. She and Alec had been among the few to take the fight seriously.
"'Til next time," Zin said with a wink.

With combat training behind them, and perhaps a few lessons learned Ervette had a new task come the next morning for her trainees. Already down by the arena, she noticed familiar faces beginning to make their appearances, the female instructor flashed those present a large grin. “Welcome Trainees to week two of your survival training! Of all the things I could impart to you, the knowledge on how to ride should be something you go out of your way to really get acquainted with.” Her gaze shifted across the various faces before she smiled suddenly.
“When you are ready, I would like you to pick from the horses present. For those of you newer to riding, you may do laps along the outer edge of the arena. You will be walking along the track in a big circle. I expect to see at least a couple laps if you aren't hurdle jumping!" The green haired instructor gave pause, patting at the horse closest to her as she continued her directions.
"For those of you who are a more experienced rider, I have a course setup at the center you may test yourself against. Please make sure to grab my attention if you have no clue how to ride, we’ll get you started with some basic walking if need be.” With that the woman took a step back making every horse present available to the waiting line of bodies. "Don't be shy, if you need a moment with your horse try grooming them first. Otherwise let your horses out, hop on up in the saddle and lets get started shall we?" She seemed excited, urging her trainees into action.

Types of Horses
For every horse, there is a unique personality. Try your luck and see what sort of horse your trainee is handed the reigns of by your instructor.
1. Spirited: This one seems to be willful and wild. His name is Comet.
2. Cranky: A foul tempered mare who isn't feeling up to practicing (you swear she is glaring at you.) Her name is Liberty.
3. Bitey: Watch out for this one. He'll take a bite out of unsuspecting riders. His name is Galvani.
4. Social: Attentive and alert, a great first time riding horse. Her name is Scout.
5. Aloof: Not particularly interactive. Content in her own little world, often stares with a rather glazed over expression. Her name is Vivi.
6. Docile: A gentle, sweet horse with a remarkable temper. His name is Toby.

Modifiers
How does your horses personality effect your riding? Take into consideration your trainee's skill level, and the results of your ride check when adding these modifiers into your replies!
• Spirited horses give you a -1 to your ride check rolls
• Cranky horses give you a -3 to your ride check rolls
• Bitey horses give a -2 to your ride check rolls
• Social horses give you a +3 to your ride check rolls
• Aloof horses give no bonuses.
• Docile horses give you a +2 to your ride check rolls
• If you have experience as a rider (say a farm hand for example) you may add +1 to your rolls. No experience will not result in a penalty however.

The Course
Should you choose to you may use this course for hurdle jumping.
Now Beginning, Week Two: Riding
Your Tasks:
• Players will roll a 1d6 in order to determine the type of horse they will be riding! Refer to the selection above on the horse type personalities. Players will need to properly mount their horses, and coax them out onto the field for riding practice.
• You will then make a second post using a 2d8 in order to determine your actual riding course success following the hurdles. The second dice along with modifiers has to beat the first number in order to successfully jump a hurdle, or alternatively make a successful lap around the track.
• As this is primarily a game, there will be no word minimum requirement.
• When you are done, you may rp with each other if you wish!
• If by some weird chance you are RPing out your horse interaction with some one, and you roll the same horse in your initial post I would advice you pretend it' another horse that just happens to have the same temperament!
• CLARIFICATION. You can choose to only post -2- times if you are only doing a lap. That means you roll for your horse, and make a 2nd post trying to make she/he walk. If you choose to do the FULL hurdle course that would make for a total of -10- posts. You do NOT have to successfully make a hurdle jump in order for it to count towards completion. How you choose to rp it out is up to you. Asking for help from your instructor is welcomed, as is interacting with other players.
• As always if needed, you may PM me!
You have until August 14th 11:59PM PST to respond to this prompt.

A new day and a new task! Eyeing the horses, he watched them while listening to Ervette give them the day's test. He wasn't a very experienced horse rider having only tried it out twice in his whole lifetime. The first time was during a village fair when he was younger and the second had been during his brief time working at the farm. Neither instances had given him any real experience beyond people telling him 'don't piss it off' and helping him mount without rolling over the thing's back. Once they were given the okay to start claiming horses he nodded to Hwan beside him and they hurried in to try and claim the best looking ones. Unfortunately neither actually knew how to tell a horse's temperament besides to obviously not take the one that bites or kicks.
"Hello handsome! What d'ya say?" Stopping beside a sturdy looking horse, he stuck his hand out for the animal to sniff his scent and approve. This was also a test for any biters. Pleased as Toby stared at him with happy wet eyes, he believed the male had accepted him and began trying to figure out how to get his horse out without stepping on anyone. Remembering Ervette mentioned they might groom them, he glanced at the table of supplies but worried someone might claim his horse while he left to grab stuff. Deciding to just mount Toby and get out on the field, he waved to Hwan to meet him out then and climbed up into the saddle. It was a little wobbly due to his relative inexperience but with his gentle nature Toby allowed him to adjust without any major problems.
"First complete lap wins! You pick what you're willing to give up when ya lose!" Jeong-jae winked at Hwan once they met up at the outer ring of the field.

Doing his best to hide a yawn, Hwan listened to the instructor's words sleepily as she went over the basics. It'd been hard to sleep last night with the anticipation of week two brewing in his mind. But now the day was finally here and he looked over the horses eagerly wondering which one to pick. Having no prior experience with the animals whatsoever, he basically just looking for one that wasn't doing much of anything good or bad. Who knew if the excitable ones were too crazy for a novice to handle?
"You're a pretty girl, aren't you?" He patted Vivi's side and cooed at her as one might a child or pet. She sort of looked at him before glancing away again and that was about as much reaction as he was going to get from her. Grumpy that Jeong's seemed more obedient, he followed his brother out to the arena. Grooming escaped his mind, not that he would've known what to do in that field anyways. Brushing would be easy to handle but that was about it!
"It's on. How about loser has to sleep on the floor?" Rising to his twin's challenge, he tried to come up with something neither would want to do but that wouldn't be too weird shouting across the arena in front of the other trainees. Truthfully, he had a lot worse ideas like forcing the loser to jump naked into the cold lake near the academy but that would be better bet on something more extreme. The other option he could think of was loser volunteering for bell tower duty. Doing that sucked because you had to wake up so early.
Week two of survival training! In truth, Larisa was still just glad she'd made it through the first lesson. She'd had no previous experience to fall back on for hand to hand combat, but she was better prepared for this week's task and less nervous for it. There were a couple of horses back home that they used to help around the farm and so she'd been around them for most of her life. True, these military horses were built a little differently, meant for different sorts of tasks, but she couldn't imagine they were much different to ride. So when Ervette finally gave the go ahead to pick out a horse, she glanced them over and moved to claim the one that had caught her eye.
"So, your name is Scout, huh? You remind me a bit of another horse I know." Scout was watching her attentively, ready for whatever came next she supposed, and after a glance around revealed some of the other horses weren't quite so friendly, Larisa was glad she'd managed to pick one with a good temper. Smiling, she moved around to climb up in the saddle, leaning forward once she was up to rub the horse's neck. "Let's see what we can do, then."

Shakuntala felt a bit dour. She was quite content that she managed to miss her hit to Rose, but at the same time, aiming to punch an innocent individual was not something she set out to do every single day. Letting it go took a lot of effort and she was sure to ruminate over the action for the next several-
"-horses."
Kira, kira.
Shakuntala's face immediately snapped to attention as she caught the last bit of Ervette's words. Her mood had dropped like a lead brick the day before and carried over into the next. But not anymore. Her spirits soared. There was a sudden, infamous sparkle to her eye as woman talked of the next phase in training: the riding. Yes, yes, this was a portion she knew rather well. Exceedingly well, actually. And the horses. Military-grade horses! Yes! By the looks of it, Shakuntala seemed to have completely gotten over her guilt from before. And, in all honesty, that was quite true because the only thing on her mind was horses. She was quick to step up and claim her horse. She didn't care which one she obtained.
Because horses.

After listening to his instructor, Lip watched the other trainees go for the horses. He stared at the hooved-beasts and inwardly groaned. This was something Chris would actually be good at... and thankfully he had taught lip to ride this creatures or he would have been seriously screwed. After taking a deep breath he moved towards the horses, noticing most of the others grabbing calmer looking horses. He ran his fingers through his hair as he looked at what horses were left. One gave him a challenging look and Lip smiled like an idiot, "You, horse thing.... That course over there... Let's show these losers how it's done..." Yeah okay... so he'd never really talked to a horse before... and he was pretty sure the horse would try to eat him.
After Liberty's several attempts to buck him off, Lip managed to get him to get him to cool his s**t so they could go to the course. The Auburn haired male wished Chris would have forced him to be more beast savvy as he looked down at the angry looking horse... Her eyes staring daggers into his frightened soul.
Alec stepped himself up, taking on the responsibility of a horse that for the most part seemed absent minded. It was cool, calm and collected and didn't react nor behave abnormally. It was a relief..especially as he climbed into the saddle and eased the horse forward with a light tap to the reigns and squeezing down on the horses body.
His eyes gazed over the hurdles not far away, and the outer track ring. Alec would likely take to hurdle jumping. Working with jumps, and getting a chance for a good practice run were tempting. Relaxing his leg tension for now, he gave h is horse a gentle pat as he acquainted himself with being up off the ground and getting settled before attempting to tackle the course.

Zinnia stepped up nervously to her horse. She'd never ridden in the saddle before, though she had ridden in horse-drawn carriages before. She liked horses, but they were awfully large creatures, and she was not at all certain about clambering onto their backs. It seemed all too likely that she'd fall out of the saddle and crack her head open.
However, if anyone were to back down from a challenge, it would not be Zin. She knew that this was something that she would need to master if she was going to graduate, so she would definitely ride her horse.
Luckily, her horse was the good-tempered, if empty-headed, Vivi. She didn't react when Zin mounted her, which the young girl found encouraging. "Okay, let's try walking," she said to the horse, patting her gently on the neck. She readjusted her grip on the reins and lightly squeezed Vivi's flanks with her heels.
Axel sighed. Of course he'd gotten a horse that hated him on sight. Of course. And now he was supposed to do hurdles on the thing. Approaching the horse warily, Axel attempted to mount it. This took some time and some pathetic hopping as the surly steed shifted away from him. His cheeks burning, hoping against hope that no one had been paying close attention, Axel finally managed to swing his leg over the mare's back.
The mare snorted angrily, tossing her head and flicking her tail as though he were an annoying fly. Axel was uneasy with horses at the best of times. He was sitting far off the ground, on the back of an angry animal. Not fun. And now he was supposed to do some kind of course with this angry animal. Argh. The mare's stiff posture and tightly pinned back ears did not inspire confidence in his steed. Nevertheless, he was supposed to jump with the horse, and jump he would.
As the horse trotted reluctantly towards the hurdles, Axel belatedly realized he didn't actually know how to get a horse to jump. Weren't they supposed to just, like, jump on their own?
Evidently not, for the angry mare simply barreled through hurdles one after the other, knocking bars off poles or knocking the hurdles over altogether.
"Come on horse, jump!"
The mare twisted her head around, attempting to bite him. Axel shut his mouth and let her continue her path of destruction. At last they reached the end of the course. The mare stood there, ears pinned back, the very picture of pouty horse fury. Axel stared at her ears very hard, trying not to make eye contact with anyone who might have seen their disastrous and epic fail.

Preacher was looking forward to this. She loved horses: their cute noses, flowing manes, graceful necks. There was something so graceful about the way equinine muscles moved under glossy coats. It was captivating.
Hmph. Maybe that's the kind of thing Tala believed, Preacher thought grumpily.
Horses were not her friends. They were large, much larger than her and had awfully ugly, biting teeth. Ugh. She took the reigns from the instructor with a frown twisting her face. Galvani, huh? She sighed and tried to yank herself into the saddle. He snapped his head around and tried to tajke a chunk out of her arm. Preacher yelped and just narrowly avoided those teeth. Once seated she tried to get Galvani to move into a walk. He stood stock still and eyed her with barely disguised malice.
She almost closed her eyes in frustration, but kept them open. She did not want this idiot to bite her to death. Man, ******** horses.

Shakuntala had a bit of a cheat sheet in her head and, while she didn't make this readily apparent to those also stepping up to take their horses, it was pretty obvious with how much time she spent between the barn and stalls. She had come around to remembering some of the horses' mannerisms due to all of her time there. Thus, when she was paired with Scout, a lovely smile spread across her lips. The mare was anything a rider could ask of a horse: obedient, calm, but also vigilant to danger and especially her rider's commands. It was the type of horse Shakuntala could only dream of owning in the future.
And, while she was an honor to ride, she was no Velvet. That rickety old mare was still her favorite.
Still, that didn't stop the copper-skinned girl from giving Scout a gentle scrub under the chin in affection and then mounting her with ease. The steed didn't even budge when Shakuntala held the reins in her left hand, fit her left foot into the stirrup, and then swung her right leg over to sit comfortably. Truly perfection, she thought.
She cast a single, weary eye to others who had trouble mounting and controlling their horses. In fact, she wanted to step off Scout and give them a hand, but at the same time, her desires challenged her to take to the hurdles. It was pretty obvious what her choice was when she gently nudged her heel into Scout and took off in a steady trot to the course.
"Here we go!" Zin said happily as her horse began to walk forward around the track. She took a few steps forward, and then lowered her head to much on a clump of grass. "Wha-- hey," Zin whined, tapping her heels against Vivi's flanks impatiently. "Go forward! Hello! This isn't the time to eat!" She looked around, completely at a loss.
