Alces stared off into space as he was read to. He wasn't used to this, and at times it was hard for him to follow what was going on in the story due to zoning out.

"You know, I could read to you if you like." He suggested, "That would give you a chance to rest some and have more energy to care for the horses." He continued as he reached his other arm around her to take the book if she would let him, "I could always wake you if you fall asleep when it is time for you to tend to them?"

She let him take the book, resting her head on his shoulder as she turned a bit in his lap,
"I guess so..." she said, sighing. Well, at least she knew her reading ability had improved. Still, she felt bad that she'd been nearly falling asleep while reading.

"But I'll try not to fall asleep. I wanna listen to the story."

Scanning the page for a moment, Alces found where she had left off and grinned at her, "I'll try not to make it sound boring then." He said jokingly then added, "If you do end up falling asleep, when would you like me to wake you?"

***

The book wasn't very long, and soon he had gone through a chapter or four. It was then that he turned his head a little to look down at Muris to see if she had fallen asleep while he had been reading.

She shook her head,
"I'll try not to...but, if I do, wake me up before two, okay?" she asked, red eyes blinking owlishly up at him. Then, she snuggled back against him to listen to the story.

***

It wasn't too long before she fell asleep. The fact that she was exhausted, and comfortable, combined with the fact that she knew Alcie would keep her safe and wake her up on time made it simply too easy to do so.

When he saw that Muris had indeed fallen asleep he smiled to himself and went to give her a light pat on the shoulder before beginning to read silently to himelf.

He had been nearly falling asleep himself when he looked out one of the windows and figured that it was around the time she had told him to wake her. After shutting the book he went to gently shake her awake, "Muri? Muri, it's almost two."

The little mouse mumbled something incoherent and shifted a bit, then her eyes fluttered open,
"mmmf." she stated, sighing heavily and then stretching as she clambered out of Alces' lap,
"Thanks...I didn' mean ta fall asleep..." she muttered, yawning and stretching again,
"Better go walk the horses...d'you wanna come with?"

He stretched as well, 'waking up' his leg that had fallen asleep. He stood up slowly and smiled yet again at her, "It was good you did though. Anyone would need to rest after going through something such as that." He commented and went to put the book back on the shelf he had gotten it from.

"I suppose it wouldn't hurt. It's about time I payed a visit to that horse of mine. The poor guy probably missed trying to eat my hair." He laughed and went to offer her his arm.

Muri took the arm as offered, grinning sleepily,
"Probably. Not that he doesn't get enough hay, of course. He always wants more, but I don't want him to get fat."

Definitely not. If he got overweight, Alcie wouldn't be able to ride him! And then...well, that was bad enough for her. She wasn't sure if Alcie would be quite as heartbroken about not being able to ride, but still.

"He eats a lot, does he? It wouldn't be good if Orin got fat." he agreed and laughed again, "I'll just have to have a talk with him about eating too much. He hasn't tried to...'attack' your hair recently has he? I was working on getting him to stop trying to eat my hair, and fur. It's quite painful when he actually gets a hold of a chunk you know." He told her as he began walking at a rather slow pace so she wouldn't feel rushed or anything. "Perhaps you should rest instead. You still seem a bit worn out. I could walk the horses for you today if you told me what I had to do. Then I could carry you up to your room, well not carry you, since it would be rather hard going up a ladder don't you think?" He grinned before continuing, "Anyway, I could help you up to your room, and make sure the horses are fed and walked. That would give you a chance to rest for a bit longer."

Muris blushed,
"Oh, I couldn't ask you to do that!" she shook her head,
"It's my responsibility. It'd look bad if I had someone else doing it, right?"

She yawned again, absently tugging at one of the ponytails she'd put her hair up into,
"I'm sure it'll be okay. I'll just walk 'em and then I guess I'll try to take another nap before their evening food and walk.."

"Not at all. I'm sure they would understand that you needed to rest. They've all gone through the same thing you have, so they are well aware of what it is like." He told her, "But if you feel you must then I won't stop you." He grinned at her as he added, "I'll still help though whether or not you like it."

He then used his free arm to open up the doors to the library for her, acting all gentleman-like.

Aesculus strode into the library carrying about three books too many. @_@; His Kithain had become incredibly interested in trying to read a few tales here and there and trying to ever be the gentleman, he kept ending up running back and forth to the library when she was done with the stack she kept in his room.

His room, mind you. It was a mighty good thing he kept things scarce for when she sat down to devour books, there was no tidiness about it; she sprawled on the floor on her stomach, swinging her feet, and occasionally shoving things this way and that when she shifted to get more comfortable.

The trio of excess books was deftly plucked off the top of the stack Aesculus was carrying, and a pair of dark eyes peered over the tower remaining to gaze at the fey curiously. Cervus had a grin on his face. "A little light reading, old friend?" he drawled with a sarcasm only Aesculus was typically priviledged to see.

The Fey King tucked the books under one arm. "You look like you might be trying to build up your muscles through sheer weight of paper?"

A little light grumbling followed by the door sliding open again framed the entrance of another fey, who was busy staring at a piece of paper in one of her hands. It looked like an old paper, and when the grumbling became more coherant it became obvious she didnt want to be in the library...at all. Because, of course, reading was so often 'useless' and 'boring' and only the oddly framed girls with frizzy hair ever seemed interested in reading and... well, that was another story.

She had kept her gaze on the paper as she took a step or two inside the library, and then froze as her complexion paled; as if finnaly realising what she had walked in on. She continued to stare down, as her grumbling ceased, as if convincing herself if she didnt look up and see the other two in the room they wouldent exist.

He blinks, caught off-guard for a moment. For reasons that had suddenly fled his mind, he had never imagined in a library; then again, if Rosa could almost step foot in a library, surely anyone could find solace here.

"Oh... well, my Kithain wishes to read tales... it is the only way she lends me her own books on stunning topics like psychology and philosophy. Perhaps you call me old-fashioned, Cervus, but I can't let her be carrying this burden to and fro."

And then IT entered. He made a deliberate attempt to ignore her completely, not even acknowledging she had entered as he usually did. Aesculus, at this moment, was more concerned was trying to put away what was left in his arms and give Cervus as much attention as he deserved.

"And what brings his majesty here? Is he too fetching books for a lady?" Despite Rosa being in the room, he let his tone be casual; after all, to his mind at the moment she could let herself be invisible.
