The pocket card was beeping. That has never happened before. Curiously, [second] fished the almost-forgotten piece of equipment from her pocket and looked at it. LEVEL REQUIREMENT REACHED. WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACCESS THE LOST TEMPLE?
Huh. Interesting. Well it couldn't hurt to check it out, and with that, [second] tapped the flashing "YES" on her pocket. Immediately, her surroundings changed. [second] blinked a few times to adjust. She was on an island with a breath-taking temple in front of her. Looking around, [second] realized that she had no idea what she was suppose to do. She turned towards her pocket for further instructions. It merely stated TOUCH THE ORB. [second] looked around again and squinted when she noticed a far-off shine, 'oh there it is,' she could see the faint outlines of a circular object peeking out over the stairs that lead into the temple.
She made her way up the stairs cautiously, when she reached the top she could see that the orb was sitting on a pedestal in the centre of the temple. All she had to do now was to cross the circular fountain that surrounded the orb from all sides. [second] grimaced slightly at the notion that she would have to get wet, but quickly acquiesced to the idea. She gingerly placed one foot, then the other, into the water.
As she walked forwards, a particular sensation began bubbling up with in her. [second] shook her head trying to rid herself of the uncomfortable feeling, but it was no use. Her vision turned dark as the strange sensation-which felt like a tidal wave now- overtook her. .... Ah. It was it. To know everything and anything. The past. The present. And even the future. Who can oppose her now? Who can even attempt to strike at her? There is nothing that she can not see. Nothing that she does not know. Everything is unveiled---her knowledge is infinite. ... [second] fought back a gasp as she found herself back in the temple. What on earth? She took another few deep breaths to get her heart rate back into control. That vision...[second] bit down on her lip, it was best not to fantasy over impossible things, lest you become completely lost because of it.
Staring at her reflection--no, no, not her specifically, but the other her, on the surface of the orb, she had one last lingering flash of "What if?" [second] ignored it, and shoved the past 3 minutes into a locked up corner of her mind. She snatched her hand from the orb 's smooth surface and left. She did not turn back.

The strange Pocket Card, which she had barely used cause technology what, had begun flashing. After a bit of fiddling, Wykid found herself transported to a new area.
In front of her rose a temple. She found herself staring in awe for a moment before she noticed the stair case leading up to it. And so she climbed, slowly. Step by step. At the top of the stairs she stopped, squinting lightly she could make out an orb at the end of a long pool of water. She was almost instantly compelled to step into the pool.
Moving through, she could feel herself growing stronger. Perhaps wiser? Either way, the way she felt was exhilarating. Like she could do anything. Go anywhere. Command armies with just a single breath.
She liked this feeling. A lot. It was almost intoxicating in a way, perhaps.
As she drew closer to the end of the pool, Wykid reached out her hand to touch it. A warm sensation on the tips of her fingers as she finally made contact and its glow brightened just a bit.
And then she was back at the bottom of the stair case. A small ringing sound coming from her Pocket Card. Taking it out, she glanced at it briefly before putting it away again and leaving.

Thin with dark skin. Wykid wears the black and blue Caterpillar armor. Her mouth is covered by a mask hiding the bottom half of her face and the sleeves of her shirt are larger than normal, slightly translucent at the wrists giving a small peek at her bone arms. Its hard to tell her disposition at the time unless you are watching her body language. But even that can be a bit tricky. But for the most part she's fairly good natured.
Divinity used his card when it told him to, seeing no reason why not and found himself on a staircase leading up to a grand temple. He ascended because he saw no reason why not and when he saw the orb, moved towards it. As he went the world shifted and changed.
He was perfect. Power coursed through every single vein, crackling in his muscles, young and perfect. As he moved his skin flickered a hundred, a thousand different hues. He was any human and every human, whatever he wished to be he could shift and twist into it. He could wear emotions like a mantle, composing them like music, crafting chords from them and forging new combinations like nothing ever seen before. He could be absolutely anything he wanted and anyone he wanted. Nothing was out of his reach, he was all encompassing, all powerful and completely omnipotent.
Never knowing fear, never knowing pain but by choice rather than force.
Claws splayed before his gaze, sharp and lethal, not Butch but his own as everything changed, as his form changed, as he became intangible, as he twisted different, more. Muchier was the word used here.
It was satisfying and he found himself standing up taller and prouder as he found himself at the orb once again, changed, improved. One step closer to the future he felt entitled to and one step closer to perfection.

Her pocket card was giving her such a fuss, it was impossible to ignore. Staring at it for a good long while, she finally touched the screen where the blinking lights were highlighting the screen, and very promptly afterwards found herself standing in front of what appeared to be a floating island surrounded by and covered in water.
What did it mean? The pocket card had said something about job class + but she had no idea if that was quite significant. Honestly, she had felt like for half of this game she had just been fumbling her way through blindly, and now this!
Tapping her foot on the ground for a time, she stared at the temple, and then let her eyes travel down the staircase. Of course, it made the most sense to climb, and so she did, climbing them with a spring of confidence in each step. At the top she took pause, eyeing the water with some amount of trepidation. Was she required to swim here? She hated swimming, and was terrible at it.
But the water didn't actually look like it was deep. Considering her options for a moment, she finally took a step forward, into the pool, and immediately felt like that had been the correct decision to make. She instantly felt...better. Stronger, even, and with every step she took that feeling grew. This was what it was going to be like, when they finally made it to the end of their journey. Her and Shik, defeating Death with the help of Medea. This is how it would feel, when they were given power to rival that of the heirs. They would be strong. They would be Queen and King, rulers of their clan, and completely unstoppable!
She stopped, having reached the end of the pool, and with it, an orb that she felt compelled to reach out and touch. She did so, without any further hesitation.
Her pocket card beeped at her again, this time a victorious chiming that had her looking down. She had been...upgraded? She blinked in surprise, looking back at the orb that her hand still touched, and pulling it away. The power was still there, a lingering feeling in the back of her head, but not quite how it had been before. She missed it. She needed it again.
Patience. She told herself, before turning and leaving.

He liked the idea of power.
It was a good feeling, a wonderful feeling that swept over him and settled into his bones until it spread out in Ian's thoughts and across his body like a wave. He let himself sink into it because it was intoxicating; the sensation that he could overcome anything, do anything, be anything he wanted to with this sort of power was something he had yet to ever experience in real life.
It was a craving, a dark desire. Maybe if he had this much power he'd be able to give Shiloh what he wanted. Maybe he'd be able to save Nevada, to protect her from the world that was trying to kill her. Maybe he'd even be able to do something to let go of Patrick, because he wasn't that strong in real life, and had never been that strong in real life.
Maybe if he had this sort of power, he could be the person he sometimes hoped he could be, but knew he never would.
The feeling of power ebbed away eventually, but not the feelings or the the lingering emotions that had come with it. Ian let out his breath in a long sigh, twisting his cloak around him, and it felt heavier, something shifting on his back. There was a beeping sound - he pulled out the pocket card from his pocket and glanced at it with a small smile.
Then he tucked it back away and left.

Finally! The rat king feels like he's getting somewhere. He can finally catch up to the rest of those players an get deeper into the game. He wanted that orb and he felt the rush of power at the idea of acquiring it. Everyone was going to love him and be his friend. No matter what wrong he did. He was going to have charisma and make sure his face was known. He was going to be the most popular boy in the academy.
He snuffed and started to move forward. He could just see himself swath with attention. Males and females alike basking in his glow, praising his tails and terrifying demeanor. He would study Fear and they would renown him. He'd bet he utmost authority on it. It was a dream come true. It was his own version of power. Absolute knowledge over his subject. That kind of power could be used in the right way to make him someone important. Someone necessary.
He opened his eyes when he he heard annoying sound interrupting his daydream. He glanced down at the orb and then to his flowing cape. He beamed proudly at his dagger weapon and stood tall. He was going to get that someday. Maybe not now but someday.
He turned and left.

At some point, his pocket guide had been making a loud buzzing sound, and he had managed to ignore for a while, but really, perhaps it was these ears, or his patience wearing thin, but he found himself here, if anything, just to quiet the stupid contraption.
Even in a dream and a nonsensical place, he had to admit this place had its own sort of charm. He found himself admiring the surrounding and structure of the building, appreciating the sort of peaceful feeling it seemed to give off. It seemed like it had been so long since he was finally able to take a break, and now that he finally could...
Well, appreciating the place and all was nice, but he came here with a purpose, did he not? He finally spotted the orb, and started making his way towards it. Normally, the water would have bothered him, one, being a cat, and two, well, who walked into water like this full clothed? But instead, there was a pleasant sort of feeling. One of power. Of confidence.
He felt as if he was able to do anything and everything, things he'd only dreamed of achieving were now possible and within his grasp. It wasn't wealth, or fortune, but the power to do... something. Anything. He had the power to protect, to be able to protect those near and dear to him. With this power, no one would have to be hurt again. With this, no one...
As he reached the very end, the sensation faded, and he found himself in front of the orb. Still, as he picked it up, there was that feeling of reassurance, as if everything would be just right. He smiled. Perhaps it would.

Upon being unexpectedly accosted by a tree and having successfully felled it--or at least having successfully relied upon the bunny to fell it--Waxwing's pocket card gave him an insistent alert, and with resignation he allowed himself to pursue the obvious course of action.
Once again he had no idea what he was doing or why he was doing it, but he approached the orb because this, too, was the obvious course of action, and the edges of the room grew strange and blurred, and the word power hovered inexplicably in his consciousness.
He supposed this was where he envisioned himself striding over the bodies of fallen enemies, or commanding a small army of white-coated soldiers, or some other such nonsense. And the images were, in a petty, self-satisfied way, appealing: the idea of notoriety, of respect, of humbled underlings swayed by his ineffable but definite charisma.
But the word meant other things to him, and such notions whirred away, dispelled: too ridiculous, too enormous. Smaller victories first.
Waxwing watched a strange Taym, self-possessed, tranquil-eyed, engaged in a mundane montage: duty rosters, battlefield scenes, desk work, interviews, missions, paperwork, recruiting. He touched and was touched by some blurred anonymous beauty. His body was a tool and it was suitably honed to its purposes.
It took him some minutes to realize why the Taym engaged in the banality of Hunter life seemed alien to him: he controlled, not armies, but himself. He had stilled the restless movement of his hands, muted the anxious chattering in his head, dismissed the doubt. He accomplished nothing more spectacular than mastering himself and that, to Taym, was a knee-weakening image of power.
The vision slipped away. In a sense, leading an army was easier to imagine than being that version of himself. He let it go.

My character's username: The Waxwing Slain My character's level: 6 Character's HP: 30 Character's Job Class: Caterpillar Current party: Current Guild: Location: Small IC description of character: Waxwing fits neatly into the "attractively weatherbeaten highwayman" archetype: rough brown hair falling a bit longer than his coarsely-stubbled jaw, a rakish scar across one brow, a lean and wiry build, and a general bearing of ne'er-do-well garnished with an unimpressed, "been there, done that" stare from dark, deep-set eyes. A pair of dark stag's antlers finish the carefully-constructed suggestion of a barely-tamed animal.
Whose face was very like a crow, With eyes, like cinders, all aglow, Who seemed distracted with his woe--
It was like a breath of fresh air and an itch being scratched at the same time. He strode up the steps with purpose and a brimming sense of accomplishment. For all of the world's crazy antics and odd misgivings, it did allow him to grow stronger at a rate that he could actually notice. It was not as clear-cut in the real world, though in all honesty he still preferred that vagueness in a sense: it meant he would always have to keep on his toes to remain that way.
killsteal strode through the temple with a wide grin. He only marveled at the architecture in passing, became less and less aware of the fact that this entire place was floating. The stairs, for once, didn’t really bother him—they were merely, literally, steps towards greatness.
A bit hammy of a description, but in the game it seemed to matter a great deal. And he needed to be at his very best.
At the orb, the gryphon touched it and was overcome with a quick vision. He was tall among his enemies, strong and steel-bound in battle with a level of ferocity hidden beneath it that he craved. At his whim he could be a beast or a barbarian, the greatest among his clan and certainly the most feared. The scene was a love letter to gore, violence, and conquest, and the gryphon was caught in its ecstasy for just a moment.
And then he blinked and was back at the orb, feeling just a little stranger than before. Maybe that was what hope felt like.

"Now this is something new." He murmured, mostly to himself as he took in his new surroundings. He hadn't expected to be transported somewhere different while fiddling around with his Pocket Guide to Wonderland and Wackiness, but here he was.
At least he wasn't alone. There were others who seemed to have made their way here as well, one by one making a pilgrimage to a golden orb at the other end of a wading pool. One by one they seemed to shift, to change. Was this the bonus round?
His brows lofted for a moment and he shrugged before throwing his lot in. If it was time to power up then so be it, he would take that leap and see where it lead him next. It was a dream after all, right?
As he made his way through the water, wading through the first few feet before continuing on, he thought about what this power up might mean for him. With great power comes great responsibility. It was an old adage, but one that stood true for so many things. The additional power of a weapon companion in Deus, for example...
But power was not just strength. It was the knowledge of what to do with that strength and that was the thought on HotTea42's mind as his fingers brushed the orb...

Usagi was more than excited to hear the message from her pocket guide that she was ready to level up. She even managed to find a bunch of new friends! She was sad she couldn't bring them all, and Shiro needed a little break. So instead, she had Duveteux out, and she cuddled his fluffy fluffy cape. Duvey was so cute!
She made her way towards the water, and peered in. It didn't seem like there was a way around, so maybe she had to go INTO the water instead? Ahhh, she didn't want to get her clothes wet, but if she had to make it to the other side for the orb, then there seemed to be no way around it.
Taking a deep breath, she put Duvey on top of her head, and began to march into the water. She wasn't an amazing swimmer, so she hoped it wasn't too deep, but thankfully, the water only went up to her waist, almost her chest, and she continued wading forward. The farther she continued, it felt as if the water was lulling her to sleep, a soft and comfortable feeling taking over her.
Power. Something she'd often associate with the big and strong, but this feeling... even she felt as if she was capable of anything and everything as she pressed forward. But not just physical power. In spirituality and strength, she felt it through every fiber of her being. The power to do things she had always wanted to do, but was scared to. The power to do things she wasn't able to do, but now could.
Even as she reached the other side and picked up the orb, the feeling persisted, making her feel strong and confident. Yes, she could do this. She was capable. Nothing was impossible when one put their mind to things.

The water was beautiful – the floating plants and – JUST EVERYTHING EVER. TheBoughman stood staring at it for a long moment before taking a breath and starting inside. Why not? He’d done just about everything else so far. He’d learned a ridiculous amount about himself, too. Even if he was still quite sure it wasn’t really a dream. The water felt real enough, however, as he waded through it. He could probably live there and be happy.
The further TheBoughman got in the water he felt more and more…need for power. A second year. Then a third. And maybe even more than that. Big and scary and not so goddamn goofy. No, that was the best thing in the world. A proper Leshy, not skulking around the woods playing little tricks but dragging people away and getting them horribly lost.
The power to be someone. To not be a blank canvas and to actually be able to function in a room full of people. That was what power was to him. As he waded, TheBoughman felt a great urgency for that. And that orb? That orb could give it to him. All he had to do was reach out and touch it…

Whalelord had just finished a quest when his phone began beeping loudly in his pocket. Startled, he fumbled it out of his pocket and nearly dropped it three times before he managed to hold it up and examine the front screen. He was being... summoned?
He pressed his screen and let out a surprised noise as he was transported away from the castle. Before him opened up a huge temple, bright and glorious. Sparkling water trickled down either side of a set of stairs. For the first time since dropped into this world, Whalelord wasn't wary of what lay beyond.
He climbed the stairs and only stopped for a second before wading into the pool beyond. He had his eyes set on that orb. The further he walked, the more he was overcome with how he could be stronger. He saw how he could be stronger.
He saw himself with confidence. He same himself standing tall, straight shouldered, head up. He saw himself being able to make a decision for himself, and commit. He wanted to be that person. The water lightly dragged against the tailed of his coat, slowing his process, but Whalelord wouldn't let that keep him back. He fought to get to the better him.

Her card was beeping. She was a bit lost on what to do, clearly this place was meant to be a game of sorts but... it was all so strange. but she liked the marriage bit. The card beeped again and she finally clicked on it and was teleported. !!! "Oh wow I didn't know it could to that." she said but there was nothing but empty air and stairs. She began to climb hooves clicking against the stone. She could smell water, a nice pound like smell, a little like the locknes monster's lake but more light, airy. Without the smell of mud, more like a kio pound. That was it. She climbed and found the thing she had been smelling.
"Oh how pretty." across the pound was an orb, she wanted to go check it out, and lunged horns first into the water. for a moment her hooves slipped, scrapping against a stone in the mud but she caught herself and waded more carefully.
Ah she walked she heard hoof beats running across the ground, her family in full throttle as they ran the moon run, running up the final hill and stopping before the palace all breathing hard but still full of untempered energy, steam rising in the air off their back.
She had taken the lead and walked up the steps, ready and confident to give the final welcoming speech, it was an honor to be chosen in the Grandmother's stead. She greeted the herd and thanked them raising her horns to the sky and woke to find her hand on the orb in front of her.
Spiderluck felt it as clearly as day, walking past the water and feeling a change in her. Her hands ran over the orb as her eyes closed, head rolling back in... relief? Excitement? Anxiousness?
She wasn't entirely sure.
Spiderluck smiled as she looked at her hands, flexing them as they shimmered. She looked up to see herself surrounded by other hunters, some of them looking at her in awe, others with respectful fear. Mostly, she felt awe from them. Awe and respect.
She also felt wanted. Needed. And powerful enough to protect everyone.
Powerful enough to protect those who couldn't protect themselves.
Letting out a breath and closing her eyes, she relaxed her shoulders and rolled them back, shaking her head and reaching back to undo her ponytail. Spiderluck felt stronger, and also felt like she didn't need to be so meek anymore.
The scene faded away, leaving Spiderluck breathless. She was satisfied.
She picked up the large needle that was offered to her upon leveling her job class, and chose two cards that would aid her in battle before exiting her own way, letting her hair tie go and flutter off in the wind, disappearing with the current.
A change. That was what she needed.
