[ Sinter tried not to look quite as interested as he was in hearing about clown decorum. Nothing good ever came of a lowblood dealing in the funny business of the Dark Carnival.
Still, he could help but consider it all to be a high class practice, if only in the most literal definition.
Before Sinter could allow himself to fall into fantasies of being invited to highblood parties, he was interrupted by an earthquake. At the very least, it gave him a heads up prior to the lusus's arrival to throw his net. ]

Regina wondered, if she had to type up a little novel every time she swung her weapon at the lusus, if things would be difficult. In her head she tried thinking of how many ways you could write 'and i stabbed it real good' without running out of ideas and reaching for some cheap cop-out. For her, she mused, it would probably be right about now.

Alexin was still stumbling a little from the sudden quake when Commy called out and the lusus reappeared. Shaken from his train of thoughts from before the quake, he managed to react just in time, tossing his net at the rampaging beast determinedly.

As she drew back to pierce the beast's dignity again, she saw the final net whip onto it, and glanced over her shoulder. "About time!" The grin that accompanied that remark was the hint that it was more her way of saying thanks, rather than actually scolding Alexin.

With the lusus full submerged under three nets, Regina got a good hit in. Of course, it was getting better at shrugging them off, almost like it was getting a lot of practice at this. Though she was getting better at maneuvering in the sand, learning as quickly as she could. So it was, she considered, an even match. Thankfully, it couldn't attack. She kept that little smug piece of knowledge tight inside her chest, along with laughter at everyone else for not wondering why it was only running away.

Regina struck a little pose as the lusus left. It made her feel better, and that's what mattered. Laughing and shaking her head, she wiped her blade and returned to the group. Time to have a little break!

REFRESHING REST POST
Everyone in your group is well rested. Your group recovers three stamina, to a maximum of five! Your group recovers 13 hp, if you were previously at zero!
Upon encountering a heap of weather-ravaged rubble, you spot a familiar hoppity stump laying on the ground. Whether it’s a sign of the dangerous WACKY weather is irrelevant – any troll knows that bouncebeast hooves bring good luck! Your group has acquired a lucky bouncebeast hoof! The hoof can be used to reroll one dice roll during the meta. When the use of the hoof has been announced, the most recent roll is thrown out and can be re-rolled. The lucky bouncebeast hoof is then discarded from the inventory.

A thick translucent blanket of dust appears ominously on the horizon. It looms closer and closer until finally a distinctive wind whips around its waves of sand and dust, creating a suffocating climate for everyone inside of the storm. This weather effect will remain in play until a 1, 3, or 5 are rolled on a D6.
Plop. Plop. Something drops from the sky, landing over the hill. Another flops into the sand nearby, making an unpleasant squelching noise. Plop—splat. At your feet, the grey, gooey eye of a fish stares back up at you. Plop. A mackerel. Plop-plop. A few sardines. Plop plop plop plopplopploploplopopop—FISH RAIN! This weather effect will remain in play until another weather effect is rolled. Players may roll 2d4 for their regular item, location and lusus encounters, but will be plagued with a constant fishy invasion until then.

There’s little time to get to higher ground as a surging wave of water sweeps through the plains. Aided by a localized storm system, the flash flood rolls through quickly and viciously. This weather effect will remain in play until a 2, 3, 4, or 5 are rolled on a D6.
Something glinting over a bluff catches your eye. A burrow in the side of the dune yields a bounty of shining golden beetles! And as they say, lucky beetles mean good fortune (and megabux$$$). Each member of the group has acquired 1 lucky beetle that can be redeemed at the end of the meta for a variety of rewards. You cannot carry any more than 5 lucky beetles total; if you run into this encounter more than 5 times, you cannot collect any more.

Through the desert there aren’t many troll dwellings. You do, however, manage to find a long abandoned hive, and decide to continue the search while in a more protected position. Your group can do two 2D4 rolls while searching the hive. Weather encounters triggered during this time are dispelled immediately, as the group is considered to be sheltered from them at this time.
The peace in the desert seemed too good to be true. Turns out that nice quiet spell was just the calm before the storm – or maybe all of the other weather effects were just too busy getting sucked in to that giant TORNADO straight ahead to do you any harm. This weather effect will remain in play until a 1 or a 6 are rolled on a D6.

Passing through the desert, the only thing that is particularly interesting is the grim landmark of a set of lusus bones half-buried in the desert sand. This is not the lusus you’re looking for! Carry on. Look, there’s a little troll skeleton beside them... Aww!
The pitter-patter of drizzly rain dot the sand with dark freckles. It’s pleasant at first, but soon the rain picks up pace. A roar of rolling thunder heralds a torrential rainstorm! Soon thick, heavy raindrops coat every surface in sight. This weather effect will remain in play until a 1, 3, or 5 are rolled on a D6.

Tamiya sat during the break, quietly whispering and confiding in her lusus. He would occasionally flop his head back to oscillate glances around the group, and then whip back and resume breathy conversation. Something that he said made her start. She looked through the group, trying to identify what was odd about one of them. He wouldn't tell her anything -- just that something was amiss. Tamiya felt her pump-biscuit churn and thrum.
It was time to head out again.
The purpleblood stood and perched herself underneath the tall blueblood. She sized her up meticulously, observing the cut of her blade and the style of her dress. Her symbol was applied very poorly, her clothes concealing, but her weapon was very fine. Odd for a well-to-do blueblood from Four Fronds. Tamiya pursed her lips.
Something appeared in the distance -- lusus bones? No, wait. Troll bones as well. Tamiya sighed and crossed herself. No desert ghosts today. Fortunately, long deceased corpses were an easy fix as long as their places of death were local to their remains. "Excuse me, bitches," Tamiya requested.
She hopped up to the spot, investigating for a moment any signs of foul play, and determined cause of death by natural causes. It was a beautiful crime scene - she could just cry. The ritual was quick and painless -- only a half hour's time lost!

As she incredulously watched the purpleblood flail and chant around the skeletons they had found, Regina lay back on the dune she was sitting on, and closed her eyes. After shifting around uncomfortably for a few minutes, she sat up and picked some beetles out of the sand. Nice! She didn't have any room to store them in her bag though, and offered them around to the kids instead. Looks like they were all running out of places to store them, but it was a nice haul.

"Ah! I see you found more charms," noted Tamiya. Appropriate based upon her previous foray. The skeletons were arranged beautifully now - you could nearly tie a bow on them.
"There is no longer any reason for us to dally here. Let us move on,"
And as she walked, a rank stench filled the air. Fish. Tamiya gasped and whirled around. Kabukidad, on the other hand, seemed to rather enjoy the fresh meal, and dug into a sturgeon that landed heavily at Tamiya's feet -- illiciting a shrill scream from the highblood.

[ Sinter kept his distance from the bones. Tamiya seemed to have that more than covered all by herself. Sinter occupied himself with drawing shapes in the sand.
He drew a blob that looked like his lusus. Sinter was disappointed he hadn't seen her out here yet. The desert was big, but he felt like they'd been out there forever. How hard was it to find a fish in the desert?!
A trout slapped down into the sand next to Sinter. At this point Sinter was more annoyed by the coincidence than startled. With the lusus charging on down the dunes again, Sinter didn't have time to dwell properly on fish rain.
"Well we've already got the nets out!" Sinter mumbled, accidentally hurling a fish at the lusus in addition to his net. ]

Tamiya recovered and went for her net. A stream of trout flopped into it, and she shrieked with confusion. Kabukidad didn't seem to mind the fish, but he WAS a lusus after all. Tamiya wasn't sure what this particular sign of the weather meant. There was nothing mentioning it in her gospels, that she was aware.
"Umm!" She stuttered. A halibut flopped into the net. "L-lusus! Comuta!" She tugged at the flat fish, gagging on the scent and at its awful misty eyes staring up at her. When she finally got it free, she wasted no time in tossing the net.

Despite Alexin's planning, they were indeed running out of places to store the shiny golden beetles ; at least if they didn't want them all to fall out. Still, they managed to stuff one more in, and it was lucky it had been quick, because next thing they knew they'd been beaned by a trout, making them fall over. Owch! Struggling back to his feet, he tossed the net at the lusus, with a lovely word about fish too.
"S-stupid fish!"
