Yeah, there are far older stories from mesopotamia that are parallel to the Bible, but nobody consults those for 'revalations' 'cuz they no longer care about all the stories & gods that came before the old testament.

It's absurd how modern theologians hinge on keywords such as "chance" to deny the present situation of civilized knowledge and rediculous how they rely on emotion as sufficient proof. No truth was proven because it "felt right." Your body and mind can feel anything, truth or not, especially emotions produced of linguistic relativity. You're only attempting to rationalize the irrational, when in fact that can only occur in either retrospect or circumspect.

If you think about it, trying to logically or scientifically prove that God exists is pointless.
If you are going to do an experiment, you don't set it up so there is only one answer. It's not an experiment if you can't be proven wrong. It's like trying to prove that aliens exist. There is only one answer you can truly know: that they do exist. The only way we would know that is if Aliens landed here (I'm not talking Area 51 conspiracy, take this in context), and if they never do come to Earth, then some one could always say that we just haven't found them. Same goes with God. Except the argument works for both sides.

Taking that into consideration, and combined with the fact that most Atheist I've run into rely on logic, using the Bible to convert is rather pointless

Trust in induction is irrational but dropping that would leave us blind. ^_~

Anyway, who are worst: idotic theists, idiotic atheists, or the idiotic undecided?

That's a hard one to answer. Some people should realise that they are just as foolish as the theists they decry.

There is almost too much proof. The easiest to recognize is from the hardest book in the Bible.
Book of Revelations was labeled as a fictional book of the Bible. True, the early Church did say that, but that was because they couldn't even begin to understand how the prophecies in that book could come true. Well, in the last hundred years, several prophecies have come true.
1. The Jewish people will once again have a homeland. For 2000 years, the Jews had now home, they wondered Europe until World War II when Hitler came and tried to exterminate them all. After the Holocaust, the Jewish people said, "Enough!" and began a massive migration to their promise land. And, guess what, in the mid-1950's, the Jews received their homeland and became Israel.
2. The Jewish people will, once again, control the Holy City of Jerusalem. In the 1960's, all the Arab nations declared war on Israel. It was a war for land and religion. The U.S.A. sent endless supplies to them, while the Arab nations were supplied by the U.S.S.R. Israel was far beyond outnumbered and had no chance of survival. It was then that they decided to do one thing. They figured, if they were going to die, they should die in the Holy City of Jerusalem. They fought until they retook their Capital. The Jews held the city and in six day, brought the whole Middle East to their knees.
3. All of Europe would be united under a single currency. Go to any European Nation, one uses the Euro to buy things. It has been for used for about ten years now.
4. There will be a nation that holds a standing army of 250,000,000 men. That number is specifically stated in the Bible. Guess what~, for the past 50 years or so, China has had a standing army of 250,000,000 men.

That's for prophecies come true, and there are more coming!

You made a mistake which i noticed... im norwegian and english. ive lived in both countries. Norway Sweden Denmark England Scottland Irland or however its spelt and many more countries do not use the Euro.

Anyway yes these things are true but thats not enough. its gone 2000 years.. the chances it would happen were... well large XD lol...

I question religion alot and will allways remain undecided to truth as wheter i believe in God or not, it wont change who i am.

So I'm new to this guild, but I found this thread the most interesting... Before I post a quote, I'm not religious at all... I was raised Southern Babtist, but after my grandfather died when I was 8, I decided to search for the best religion for me. After looking at most of the other forms of Christanity, I looked toward Judiasim and even Wiccan, but have come to this ending... There is no religion out there for me.

That being said, reciently I came accross a 2 part documentry by Richard Dawkins entitled "Religion The Root of All Evil?" He uses logic to as his back ups. Anyway, please read the quote I pulled from (I think it's his actual words, I'm not sure though...) http://onegoodmove.org/1gm/1gmarchive/002778.html It should help explain my view.

Quote:
Some will argue that religion is more than just simple supersition. They will point to the moral and legal traditions they say arise from religious beliefs. They will claim that it is religion that motivates people to do benevolent work. But it seems to me the connection is a weak one, they provide little evidence, that it is belief in the supernatural that is responsible for the behavior. It is clear that those without religious beliefs also do benevolent work, and that both moral and legal traditions arise from the non-religious as well.

All of so-called benefits of religion arise not from a God but from people coming together to solve common problems, The fact that we all benefit when we provide for others who are in need is true with or without religion . We also benefit as a group when we establish laws that facilitate the smooth functioning of society, once again whether religion exists or not. There is simply no need to invoke a god to explain such behavior. Attempts to credit a god with this is nothing more than a bit of sophistry, an attempt to add authority to what is nothing more than common sense.

I don't believe that all religious people are stupid, just that they sometimes substitute religious dogma for reason, and the negative consequences that arise from such non-critical thinking. When laws are passed based on those irrational beliefs then not only are they acting irrationally they are causing harm. What harm you ask? The list is long, here are a few examples we can attribute to religion.

*A defacto religous test to hold any public office
*Intelligent Design, an attempt to teach religion as science
*Attempts to ban assisted sucicide.
*Irrational limits on stem cell research
*Abstinece only sex education that leads to increased disease and *unwanted pregnancies
*Excessive penalties for sex crimes compared to comprable crimes
*Sunday closing laws
*Discrimination against non-traditional partnerships

This is an actual interview he did with a preacher...

Quote:
Haggard: We fully embrace the scientific method, as American evangelicals - and we think, as time goes along, as we discover more and more facts, that we'll learn more and more about how God created the heavens and the earth - ' Dawkins points out that the evidence shows the earth to be 4.5 billion years old, Haggard says You know what you're doing?' and explains that he's paying attention to just part of the scientific community, and that maybe in a hundred years 'your grandchildren will laugh at you.

Dawkins: You want to bet?

Ted Haggard:Sometimes it's hard for a human being to study the ear or study the eye and think that happened by accident.

Dawkins: I beg your pardon, did you say "by accident"?

Haggard: Yeah.

Dawkins: What do you mean "by accident"?

Haggard: That the eye just formed itself somehow.

' Dawkins: Who says it did?

' Haggard:Well, some evolutionists say it.

' Dawkins: Not a single one that I've ever met.

' Haggard: Really?!Ted Haggard: Dawkins: Really.

' Haggard: Ohh.

' Dawkins: You obviously know nothing about evolution.

Haggard: Or maybe you haven't met the people I have. But you see - you do understand - you do understand that this issue right here, of intellectual arrogance, is the reason why, people like you, have a difficult problem with people of faith -

Enjoy smile

Don't try to force your religion onto people who don't want to beleive it. Your bible also states that we have free will.

The bible was written be man, not 'God'. People have been making predictions for centuries.

Maybe because they don't believe in a god? Or they are undecided on which god they want to believe is real? Hey, 'gods' and 'goddess' and every other minor and major deity have been around for centuries. Take a look at what creatures people have come with. Cyclops, Dragons, Unicorns.... It's being proven that ancient people probably came up with those creatures because their knowledge of biology or archelogy (or however you spell it) was primitive. They didn't know what they were looking at, so they made an assumption. Religion could be just that; an assumption made up by people about how the world truely exists.

Imagine that you are on a river side, and there are some trees behind you,
and you wont to go across that river, but you dont have a boat.

Suddenly, all the trees were cut by itself, and grouped together, and form a boat.

is that possible.

So how can you believe that the earth, other plante, the whole space and the sun form just like this. by thereselves.

There is always a subject.
