Florina glanced back at the detective when he noted the light bounce in her step. A soft pink hue made itself known on her face. She did not realize that she was even doing it, and, given the situation, skipping may not be seen as very appropriate. "Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't realize." she replied tentatively, looking a little ashamed, "I guess I am a little excited. You see, I've never been around the school before, so this is kind of like a mini adventure for me."

Being unnerved by the ghostly Lurkers, Florina was relieved when they reached the more lively Cafeteria. She noted the smell of chocolate and sweets as soon as they reached the double doors, and realized then that she was getting hungry. Following behind Marona, she picked up a steaming cup of hot chocolate, along with some other candies and snacks. She paid for her items and placed them in a little pink paper bag for safe keeping, so she could leave as soon as the others were ready.

A wicked grin spread over Lupin's face as soon as he had heard what was inside of the bag. "Well, I've always found the forest spirits to be really annoying, so I don't blame you for kidnapping one." A chuckle escaped from his lips and quickly turned into a bout of coughing. It took a few moments before Lupin successfully recuperated. "Sorry 'bout that. I think I might be coming down with something." He cleared his throat before continuing. "Crime's a nasty thing. Sometimes, I wish it didn't exist in this world, but then, what would be the point of policemen or superheros?" Lupin shifted his weight uncomfortably from foot to foot. He had the sneaking feeling that he was talking way too much.

At the mention of having less social skills than a robot, Lupin blushed profusely. Many people usually judged him before they got the chance to know him. Sure, he could be a little nosy at first, but he was pretty curious. Everything in the world seemed to fascinate him. "Um, was I too blunt?" After many awkward moments of sweaty palms, Lupin seemed to calm down a little bit.

Lupin's storm gray eyes observed the boy and girl in front of him. The boy seemed almost robotic-looking. He must be the android then. He also observed the girl standing before him. She looks pretty normal I guess. Lupin then stuck out his right hand for a handshake. "Name's Lupin. Sorry about earlier. Would it be okay to know your names?"

Duo nodded as the two spoke, not saying anything for the fear of being either awkward or saying something weird. "H-hey!" He said, as Umbraja mentioned Lupin having less social skills then 'her robot friend'. Lupin seemed to be slightly offended by this as well, wondering if he was too blunt. "Y-you guys! I'm not... blunt... am I...?" His last two words came out more like a nervous whisper. It was obvious that he was embarrassed, as a sliver of blush creeped across his pale face.

As Lupin introduced himself, holding his hand out towards the lady, Duo nodded. "I'm Duo." He said, pointing to the large tattoo on his arm, which read 87 - D.U.O.. He didn't know if people didn't notice it, or just assumed it wasn't his name... the latter was far more likely, as the tattoo covered up a large portion bicep. Actually, it wasn't even a tattoo, it was built into him. No amount of laser surgery or home remedies would be getting that thing off.

OOC: Yes, D.U.O. is an acronym, but I'm still working on it.

"Oh don't get yer panties in a bunch," Umbraja brushed off both their offenses with a dismissive wave and wry laugh. "Social skills are highly over rated. Besides, it's not as if I said you've less of them than I do. Now that would have been an insult," she gave a wink with a cheeky grin then took Lupin's hand in a firm and confident grip, gave it exactly three shakes, no more no less, then let go with a bit of an overly dramatic bow.

"Umbraja at your service," she introduced herself. "Round here at least," she straightened up still with the grin. "I sort of work here. Don't suppose you're one of the students?" she asked the wizard with a hopeful glance over his attire. He had the look of a student but she wasn't sure if he was local or just visiting. "Wouldn't happen to know where the Groundskeeper is, would ya?" she went ahead and asked anyway.

"...Chance. Fionna."

Having spent the whole of the time in silence and disinterest, these were the first words the assassin had spoken since following the white-clad woman. Strange, lurking figures in the halls, all sorts of individuals and objects Chance had never before seen and could never even begin to guess as to their function - these sights of things she could not comprehend were quite common here. The strangeness of this otherworldly academy finally drilled an important message into her skull: This place is like a madman's dream... no reason to be so surprised anymore.

Before she was to hear the stranger's meaningless banter, Fionna availed herself of a cup of "hot chocolate" as these people called it. She took a sip of the unknown liquid...

"Kah!"

...and looked as if she wanted to dump the contents into whatever passes for the academy's sewer system - right where this crap belongs, she thought. Still, she reluctantly drained the cup completely in the interest of etiquette.

After consuming that hogwash, Chance dared not give the candies a chance. To her, they didn't even look edible....

"Crime is a nasty thing" the detective said "I don't believe we have met" putting out his hand "I'm Jimmy Marona"

Lupin smiled sheepishly as Umbraja explained that it wasn't a big deal that he had almost no social skills. "I think you have more social skills than I do at least. I have no friends whatsoever, and I'm considering on whether or not I should adapt to be a shut-in." Lupin chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck nervously. Rubbing his neck was always a tell-tale sign that Lupin was nervous. Meeting new people was something of a bother having almost no experience with it. As soon as Umbraja released his hand, another boy had come up and introduced himself to Lupin, holding out his hand. All Lupin heard was that the boy's name was Jimmy. "Nice to meet you, I'm Lupin Sumer." Lupin took Jimmy's hand and gave it one firm shake before letting go.

Lupin smiled warmly as Umbraja began talking about the school. The school was certainly an intriguing place to spend time, or so Lupin thought. He watched Umbraja as she surveyed his appearance, taking in hers. She was actually a nice-looking girl. Not the best looking girl out there, but she was really nice. He almost missed answering her questions. "Yeah, I'm a student here. No one really sees me because I'm taking the most advanced courses the school has to offer which very few students get accepted into. I'm referred to as an overachiever and a workaholic, so people expect that out of me." Lupin paused to take a breath. He didn't want to ramble on too much or cause any trouble for Umbraja. "I haven't seen the Groundskeeper recently. I guess he's been busy with work, or I'm too caught up in mine to notice his activities. Sorry if I'm not much help." As he said the last sentence, Lupin's voice softened. He despised letting others down, even if he didn't know the person very well.

Duo was very confused about Umbraja's way of speaking. "What? I thought your social skills were fine..." He left it at that, not wanting to confuse everyone (or, most likely, get more confused himself). He listened as the two conversed, Lupin mentioning turning into a shut in. After searching the web for a minute to figure out what that meant, he nudged Lupin with his elbow (his hands were full so this was his substitute for patting his back). "Don't do that. Then you'll never make any friends. Uh, if it'll stop you from being a whats-it-called, I'll be your friend." He said, attempting a smile. He thought that being shut in a room all day would be a sad way to live, and didn't want anyone to have to do that.

He then started talking about being a student, taking all of the advanced courses. "I'm a student too. But, uh, only sort of. I'm not supposed to take any classes other than history... because that's kind of what I came here for." He said. The teachers were afraid that Duo would be cheating on tests. While he isn't the kind of person to do that kind of thing, they didn't want to take any chances. Besides, he didn't really need to know all those things, he could just look them up on his mental computer. But history was more difficult... and he was hoping to learn more about society anyways. So he wasn't really forced to take any other classes.

Umbraja grinned widely for Duo's confusion over her words and gave the boy a pat on the shoulder for it, murmuring a quiet little whisper, "It's a joke, buddy. Humor. Look it up." Then she arched a brow at Lupin's shut-in comment and nearly snorted a laugh for Duo's response. "Oh you are brilliant, Data. Absolute comedy gold," she teased him lightly and tossed in for help, "Joking again," with a little wink then smiled between the two of them. "Good to know they're still teaching around here. I was starting to think the place had closed down," she spoke as she gave a look around at the shuffling Lurkers and very few active faces. "Shame no one seems to know where Jikial got off to," she half grumbled but shook it off with a nod toward the registration table.

"Maybe we should all go sign up for that Awesome Prizes thing before we go. School spirit and solidairty, ya know," She flashed a grin at the students in particular but didn't leave the assassin or the detective out of it as she waved the lot of them toward the booth.

When she said it was 'humor, look it up' Duo did just that. He looked up the definition of humor. "the quality of being amusing or comic, esp. as expressed in literature or speech." He said absentmindedly, as he stumbled upon the definition. He continued to look at random websites from his humor search, reading random things, as Umbraja spoke again.

When the mention of awesome prizes thing came up, Duo tilted his head. "What?" He asked, clearly having not heard of this before. She mentioned school spirit, which made him start thinking again. They were throwing this party... was there a special event today? He looked at a mental calendar. February 14th. Valentines Day. He hadn't realized it before, as Duo was terrible with keeping up with time. "Oh, uh, sure..." He said, curious as to what the 'thing' was. Edit: He wandered over to a booth where people seemed to be signing up for 'something' and wrote his name down.

Florina glanced at Mr. Marona as she sipped from her cup. "Where am I from?" she echoed the question before answering, "My family lives in the countryside, about...maybe five hours drive away from here, I think."

The announcement from the machete-wielding woman caught the bunny's attention. A signup for prizes? Florina tilted her head thoughtfully. She supposed that it couldn't hurt to sign up. She finished the last bit of the drink and walked over to the booth to do just that. When she finished, she returned to the group, just in case they were ready to leave then.

Lupin shrugged his shoulders and spoke in a nonchalant voice as Umbraja stated that it was a relief that people were still teaching here. "It's actually working really well for me if I must say so." He smiled warmly before turning to face Duo. "Thanks, I really appreciate the offer." Lupin shot a side glance over to the registration place. "I'll go over and register now I guess."

He briskly took long strides over to the booth and leaned on the counter. "My name's Lupin Sumer, and I'm entering." The woman nodded, and Lupin rushed back over to the others. "Well, what did you think of my social performance?" He grinned at Umbraja.

"Oh. Hey. . . wow," the man at the booth blinked for the sudden rush of people to the table but a quick glance to where they all wandered off to after quickly signing up answered any question he might have of what was going on. He rolled his eyes with a sigh and shook his head before turning a friendly smile back on Talia. "That one might know what this is for," he gave a nod toward the adventuresome looking woman with the machete on her hip. "Of course she's about as likely to not know what day it is," he grumbled the last with a shrug as he watched the people gathering expectantly around the woman.
