The what in the hell expression would drop from their faces with the change of subjects. It would seem that personality wasn't anything short in Raven's party. The change in subject was a good one as the Talonflame would release his grip, and the Lt. would stop in her own assault.
"Don't forget to feed it. Though at that stage, he isn't likely to kill anything."
She thought about her words as her Talonflame would clack his beak as he peer at the little thing.
(Watch out for strong gusts of wind. Small wings, mean harder wingbeats, and it was a very interesting week for me while my trainer had to search for me ...when I got caught up in a wind current)
Elisa looked over at him, as she laughs out loud.
"I was in the academy myself when that one happen. I was training him in dealing with rough winds, and one ripped him away from me before I could recall him.
Took a good week to find him, and he was tangled up hopelessly in an abandon Spinarak web."
(Good thing it was abandon, and that I wasn't the only stupid creature to get tangle in one.)
He clack his beak again.
(Though I wonder why the owner abandon it, the spot was good, and I got quite a few tasty bugs to eat until you came.)
"He gained 10 pounds for being lost while, I lost about 10 ...from being so worried."
It was a story that showed their bond, as the bird would walk over to his trainer and butt her leg with his head. She didn't think twice about stroking his head.
"Anyway, let's get it together, and head back to the gate."
She would lower her arm to allow her talonflame to stop up onto her arm as she rose back up ....slowly so that he wouldn't tip off.

Raven nodded faintly at the words of woman and bird before adjusting his arm and turning his attention to the Fletchling seated there "Look for the Skarmory, watch out for the Cacnea" He advised, lifting the ball in his other hand and preparing to tap it gently upon the Fletchling's head.
">Oh oh! And dun forget ta---!<" West began to pipe in however before he could finish Raven would quickly turn, the boy's cloak smacking the Riolu lightly in the head. Taking advantage of the momentary silence the child would use the Pokeball upon the Fletchling, watching as it disappeared back to his lands at the Academy before West could fill the bird's head with any crazier ideas.
In the wake of this the Riolu would look rather disappointed, and Raven would simply gesture for Miss Rose to lead the way.

Lt. Rose would take Raven towards the front gate. The place was busy where there rest of the area seemed a bit lay back. The guards at the gate were steely in their looks, and their pokemon that stood shoulder by shoulder with them were just as hard body. Aegislash, was both pokemon, though one stood as sword while the other was shield as they stood side by the entrance of the gates.
"Hai, you two ...we are going to head out for a brief walk."
Both men would turn to look at her with a slightly raised eyebrow as Elias mutters to Raven.
"It's harder for the steel types to get infected. Though it's not impossible."
Elisa would state as though answering a question that was never asked. Her own Talonflame was still on her arm as it shift to her shoulder a bit, and back down to the meatier part of her arm. He was heavy for her to carry, but this was also a requirement.
"Are you traveling out here with your Riolu?"
Elisa would ask Raven.
"Once we exit here, any pokemon that walk at your side is at risk. No matter how brief the time you let them out of your pokeball."
She sort of explained, but not all the way. She was determine that Raven saw the truth of this world on his own as one of the guards inspected her pokemon ...lifting wings, spreading feathers, and even though it was annoying to the Talonflame they would even look inside of his beak.
They would then walk towards West.
It would seem that he would get the same inspection before he left though the gates.

Listening to the words off the woman, as well as considering their implications, Raven's hand would slowly slip to his side, fingering the second pokeball from the front. Genn's ball. Certainly if Steel-types were harder to 'infect'...whatever that meant...and given the strength of the Steelix they'd be able to handle most situations. On the other hand Genn made a bulls-eye several feel wide and about thirty feet long.
Shaking his head briefly the child removed his hand, crossing his arms "If I don't place trust in my Pokemon how are they to ever trust me?" He stated firmly, nodding his head before adding "Besides given a little more time this one will just the right type." Obviously a reference to the Riolu's evolution, which with any luck could be soon...or not. Such evolutionary types were...dicey.
For his part West simply took his hat in one paw, turning it upside down and stretching his arms out like someone being patted down at an airport.

It wouldn't take them long to exit the gate after that, with both parties being found to be .....safe.
Though Lt. Rose listen to Raven's words on trust, and almost wanted to tell him that it worked both ways. Afterall, the ultimate betrayal of trust ...was when a trainer didn't recognize the limitation of their pokemon. They depended on trainers to know when to fight, when to run, and when to change out to a better pokemon. If a trainer failed, then the bonds of trust could forever be broken.
Yet, Lt. Rose said nothing.
Afterall, she was here to let him experience the dangers of this place on his own.
"We are going to head to one of the outpost camps, and then turn around from there and come back. By then, I am sure, you will run into at least one of the infected."
She told him as they walked out. She would throw one arm upwards to release the Talonflame back into the air. He would beat his wings strongly to get back into the air ....as she walked slowly.
"Humans can't be infected by ...the darkness."
She told him. A bit of advice, and the best she could give without him seeing for himself what this darkness is.
"But, a simple bite ...will mean we have to put your pokemon down. Be careful, of how you let your pokemon battle."

Raven would give only a curt nod as they walked through the gate, gesturing for West to walk beside him from this point forward. It would allow the Fighting-Type to more easily get behind, or in front of him as needed, as well as defending him on the left where the position of his scabbard would prevent him from a quick enough draw to defend.
Reaching back the child would also give the scratched golden mask hanging from the back of his belt, beneath his cloak, a few light taps. Everyone needed to be on their guard.
For his part, Raven would cast the Lieutenant a side glance "If you've something more to say, than say it. Words left unspoken are a waste of the energy it took to think them and help no one" He said, returning his gaze to the path ahead. This was unlikely to be an easy journey.
Tilting the brim of his hat slightly upward, a paw resting on his hip, West would chime in by saying ">Thinkin's gud, buh helpin's bedder!<" At this rate the Riolu would be as straightforward as his trainer any day now.

Lt. Rose would counter back as they walked upon the broken streets. The area echoed with silences, at last compared to what it should have been. Their movements were careful and slow with the only a single shadow over their heads as her Talonflame followed above them.
"This was once, Viridian City.A place that was well known for it's pokemon research and it's trade and commerce. Now, now, it's nothing more than a ruin, and the playground for the dark. We have yet to figure it out, but wild pokemon live here without being bother by the darkness, but, if you bring a trained one."
She shuddered once.
"We first thought to use train pokemon as spies and simply release them. They are loyal to us afterall, and no one should be able to tell the differences. We were wrong, and our pokemon suffered for our failure. They turned most of the spies, but one, one that was especially close to her trainer ...they brought her severed head and places it on our gates steps.
It wasn't great."
"So, for along time, this place has been nothing more than the city beyond our walls."
She would state that ... as she kept her steps light.
"I wonder, if maybe, the dark ones ..can tell or smell us on them enough to know the differences. Though separation and time didn't matter, and capture no matter the length resulted in the same thing. We even tried those that were friends and never captured."
"They always seemed to know the attachment."
She was just rambling in a way as they walked along.

"Perhaps..." Raven began then slowed, thinking about how to best to word his thoughts "...perhaps...the answer lays in their hearts. On the affect mere contact with us has on them. One cannot fake the passion of true rage and hatred" He said, finally. It was true, they could distance themselves, mask the scent, but it would never alter the connection. Truthfully that connection was the very point they'd trusted the Pokemon as spies.
">Er maybe they have'ah mind reader!<" West yipped pointedly, his tail wagging slightly. Well, the Riolu certainly had a point. If they could simply see into a Pokemon's mind the answer would be rather obvious now wouldn't it?

She would only shrug at Raven's answer, and would answer to West.
"Psychic types should be able to defend against psychic types, but it makes no differences. Though that is not a bad idea at all."
She would retort as something shifted in one of the abandon vehicles. It's body squeezing through a partially upraised window as it hit the ground in a rolling motion that would make it clear that it wasn't use to trying to hide it's presences. It's eyes would lock upon Raven as it narrowed it's eyes at them, and a screech from above would make it clear that Talonflame had also saw the wild pokemon.
NOt dark, his scream would have been different for that sort of pokemon, but it could be infected. Though she doubt it seriously.
"Well, it seems you have come upon a pokemon ...the choice is yours to make. To attack it, ignore it, or capture it ....I won't tell you which one to choose."
Raven would cast a side glance at the Lieutenant, arching a brow for a moment before turning his gaze to the Turtwig. The simply fact she'd called this a test had a very distinct effect on how he would handle it. Taking a deep breath the boy would begin, his words coming out clear and objective "Capturing it would provide the benefit of having a Pokemon familiar with the surrounding area, as well as the potential to provide information about those 'infected' in this particular area; however it is very likely that between yourself and the Talonflame that you know the area fairly well, and capturing it would prove pointless as I already have six on my belt meaning it would be sent back to my land where any information it might be able to provide is rendered useless. Additionally information could be obtained simply by consulting or bribing the Turtwig. Negotiations however can take time and in the mean while we're left sitting ducks obtaining information we have no way of immediately confirming. Besides I never liked Turtwig" The boy stated, pausing briefly before taking another large breath.
"Ignoring it while simple enough comes with multiple downsides. While the Turtwig doesn't show any present hostility that doesn't mean it won't attack once our backs are turned to it, or worse yet given that it has obtained knowledge of our presence it could easily inform others, either fellow wild Pokemon or these infected types you keep talking about. Based on what said before one would assume they have at least some level or coordination so if one finds out and gets away we could easily be up to our ears in them which is never a positive situation to be found in" Again Raven would pause to take a breath before continuing.
"Finally while fighting it does eliminate the downsides of the previous options, dead or unconscious we'll be long gone before it can tell anyone we were here, and if found they will only know that we were here and not which way we went. On the flipside a drawn out battle can attract unwanted attention very easily..." Raven seemed to pause for a moment, but as his hand fell to the fourth ball on his belt a smirk flitted onto his lips "...unless of course you have the ideal predator for the job." As he said these words the boy would fling the ball into the air, releasing it's charge in a brief flash of light.
Purple from head to toe, with sharp pointed ears and a scorpions tail, the sight of the Pokemon was unmistakable. Certainly with immunity to earth and access to poison the creature was the perfect Poke for the job...save for one thing Raven had forgotten.
">All the world is darkness and despair...<" The Gligar croaked, half lidded eyes barely watching the landscape as he stepped foot on the ground, arms hanging limp at his side as he starred forward.
A gloved hand promptly smacked Raven's face as he released a sigh, making a mental note to get Valvatorez a very good therapists.
West, every the voice of optimism would cut in ">Hey! Buck up! Nod liek yer whole family's been murdered 'r nothin!<" The Riolu yipped positively.
If Valvatorez said anything to that it was impossible to hear over all the sobbing coming from the Gligar.
Perhaps Raven better make that a grief councilor.

She chuckles lightly.
"A depress pokemon ...as I live and breathe. NOw, I have seen everything."
She crossed her arms ...as the Talonflame would circle high above. It would seem that the Turtwig wasn't sure what to make of it either ...as it move a bit closer to the sound of the pokemon sobbing. It's eyes going to the poor little Gligar, and then it's eyes turned upon it's trainer.
It's eyes narrowed as anger practically radiated off of the pokemon as it stomp one foot into the ground and then declares loudly.
(What have you done to that poor pokemon? I knew trainers were cruel, but to make a pokemon cry tears ...means you are the worst of the worst. I will make that b*****d pay.)
The pokemon had gotten the wrong idea completely as he went to pass by the poor Gligar and to actually aim his attack at Raven himself.
Raven wouldn't get an answer as to whether his choice was right or wrong just yet.

Hand still pressed against his face, Raven would respond to the Lieutenant's words by saying "If you saw the rest them you might retract that statement....or repeat it..." Obviously the child was referring to the rest of the Pokemon, several of which of course weren't present.
Then his ears would perk up at the Turtwig's words. Well...technically the beast probably wasn't wrong considering the circumstances of the capture, although calling him the worst seemed like a bit of an overreaction. Of course it would seem that before the boy could comment to the contrary the Turtwig was already coming straight at him. He'd been hoping to delay this a moment longer and take advantage of an opening in the Turtwig's defense, but it would seem the time for conversation was over. "Valvatorez use Poison Sting" He commanded, removing the hand from his face and watching the Turtwig with narrowed eyes.
Although he never stopped sobbing, even now wiping tears away with his claws, the Gligar's tail would suddenly flex, submissively complying to the boy's command as it swing back, the large barb at the end aiming to stab the Grass-Type in the rear even as it attempted to pass him.

It was slight, the movement was caught by the side of the Turtwig's eye. It's charge changed almost in mid-stride as the pokemon went from attacking to trying to dodge the poison sting for his rear. It was hard to think that this was happening, and worst, to see what would happen if he failed as his charge turning into a leap to get out of the way of the poison sting and a violent crash upon the ground either way that would have the pokemon rolling literally to a stop.
Anger would show on the pokemon's face as well as betrayal.
"So, all your pokemon are clinically insane. I didn't see that type of characteristics of your Riolu nor your other pokemon that you called out in that fight. I am guess, not all, but majority."
The woman was actually thinking deeply about this.
"That Fletchling was just hatched, so it couldn't possible be insane just yet."
Lt. Rose was seriously thinking heavily of this even as the two pokemon in front of them fought.

(12 - 4) + (15 - 16) = 7 x 2 = 14 DMG + Poison
Turtwig HP: 12/26
[TURTWIG HAS BEEN POISONED!]
The Turtwig wouldn't be able to dodge swiftly enough however, as that barb would pierce his skin, pressing deeper with the aid of the impressive amount of muscle in the Gligar's tail. In seconds poison would be pumping through the Turtwig's veins, aided in it's travel by the Grass-Type's rage and quickened heart rate.
Raven mean while would be a bit distracted by the Lieutenants comment. "You haven't really met more than West though have you? And trust me actions at birth in Pokemon are a much better indicator of sanity than you think...." The boy would suddenly wave his arms, gesturing to his Riolu "...He came out this way."The Steelix and Zorua are no better..." He said, almost sighing. There was little doubt he found the pair more than a little embarrassing at times, though they'd certainly proved themselves in battle.
Speaking of which...
"Valvatorez take to the air, it's your greatest advantage and one of his own weaknesses" Raven ordered calmly, apparently recovering from the conversation about his Pokemon's antics for at least the moment.
">Why bother? All will come crashing down in this world. Death consumes those who wish to live, and deny those who wish to die....<" The Gligar sobbed, yet despite his words would begin move forward. Though it was more of a trudge than a more efficient mode of movement, the Gligar would make it to the very rubble from which the Turtwig had appeared. With claws and feet hooked and adapted for clambering up stone, the Gligar would skillfully make his way to a high point and leap off. Rather than plummet to the earth as he had attempted on previous occasions, the Gligar would spread his arms wide, catching the air on the leathery webbing between his arms and torso in order to glide, angling his body and tail occasionally to catch a shift in the breeze. Though depressed he may be, instinct and reflex went a long way.

He had been stung in the behind for all purposes, and it would seem that anger made him sure of one thing ...he was going to bring that pokemon down to earth as he charges again. Jumping high and aiming for the pokemon's stomach ....his entire aim was to put the pokemon down literally.
(I only wanted to help you)
The Turtwig wail as it attacked.
Lt. Rose would think for just a moment.
"When we get back, you will have to let me see if the rest of your group is really as bad as you are saying. I mean, most pokemon are pretty calm, and I am sure that is because they deal with a lot in the wild, but ...."
She trails off a bit as she thinks about all the signs of crazy she see in the wild types.
