They always protected her. Even when the other kids called her crazy, even when the townspeople whispered to one another, her mother and father never faltered in their defense. When the accusations turned to them instead, *** pleaded, begged for her parents to stop. It was okay, she would tell them, she was okay.

She wanted them to live a peaceful life. There was a bitter taste in her mouth when she realized that the reason they couldn't was because of her.

The voices are inside her head, and she doesn’t know when they got there. She’s wandering through a house with a dark hallway. At least, she was until she stumbled out the stairs. When she looks down at her hand she sees wisps of white curling around her skin. White. Grey. She’s tinged in monochrome. She clutches her head as she tries to make sense of it all, but there is only one desire consuming her whole. Home. Where was Home? Home…

With no knowledge on baking, *** had to learn because he had wanted to bake her a cake. It was hard without the aid of someone experienced, and the flour covered kitchen was something to admire and dread. While the cake was baking, a knock drew his attention from the oven.

The smile on his mother’s face at his attempt made him smile as well. Then again, she was probably amused by how he had been covered in flour at the time.

Zhi is always warm. His fur is always soft and warm, and his long sleeves provide extra comfort. She doesn’t even know why she’s clinging to his broad back now, but the feeling of being carried is nice because it feels like it’s been forever since she was last piggybacked. She grabs fistfuls of his shirt and she can hear him talking, but she’s tired. What were they doing again? They had been down by the river and…

She yawns, clings to him tighter. Her wings curl around them both as she mutters, twittering a bird tune she heard earlier that day. She can still hear him talking. At one point she can feel something warm and soft brush her forehead, and as she falls asleep, she grins.

She hated him. For a girl who was usually so bright and cheerful, there was always a flicker of anger that appeared beneath her mask whenever her division head was mentioned. He was an impressive fighter--frighteningly so--but it was his apparent heartlessness that constantly drove *** to fury. He had harmed countless trainees, three of whom who meant the world to her. Otto, Reine, Gale...

One day. She didn't know when--she needed to get stronger--and she didn't know if it was even possible, but...one day.

Their blades meet with a loud clang, but neither of them gives in. She grins at Iyari as she tries to press her knife forward. “It’s been a while since we’ve done this, eh?” she notes aloud before they jump back to create a large gap. Her bandaged hands grip her weapon tighter as she begins to walk in a circle, but so does the other woman. Her eyes narrow at her friend, before she grins and lets her blade loose. It’s dangerous to be weaponless, but she has confidence that her blade will meet its mark. If there’s one thing she knows how to do, it’s how to throw and how to fight. She is War, after all.

The rush of adrenaline coursing through her body is delicious. She’s giggling, shrieking as she presses forward upon the hunter. “What’s wrong?” she asks in a sing-song voice. “I thought you guys were better than that.” She wonders if her seagreen eyes have turned bloody red with murderous intent. There is only one thought on her mind—revenge. It is what her kind strive for, and there is no shame on her face as she throws her blade down. No shame at all. In fact, there is a twisted gleam of pride shining in her eyes as she slams the weapon into his gut.

"You have made the correct choice. This is the end for you, but the beginning for me. Your sacrifice will not be in vain."

He knew he had made the right choice, because it was the best choice for him. Tiletk needed no confirmation on his decision making, even as he ripped the heart out he had known he made the right choice. Still it didn't mean he wasn't afraid. Afraid of it not working. Afraid that everything would fall apart. Fears that he never once admitted to Fayre or anyone...

Tiletk was humming a song because he felt it would keep something at bay, which acted like a dam keeping the waters of memory at bay until he could find a successful way to survive the wash of them coming over him - he felt them trying to break through.

Thoughts and feelings he didn't want to acknowledge just then because he was afraid they would wash him away completely: Tiletk the battlefield philosopher, Tiletk the lover of friendship, Tiletk the protector of Fayre, Tiletk incorrigible optimist and all around charming figure.

Only prey is afraid.

This is what he reminded himself and thus in defiance of that fear was when he finally gave in and let the end wash over him and the memories of his heart leak out, he let the dam break down and just wash away everything all at once. In this wash of memories he would be purified. He would be born again or so he hoped.

He would be born again and so would Fayre. They would be able to live together in happiness in the next life and ....

And Stew would be there and Hale and...

Dimly he was aware of shouting but he couldn't tell what anymore...

Thoughts jumbled together into senseless mumbling as he faded away...

Creative. That's what her elementary school teachers had called her: creative. Those detailed stories of the shadows in her room at night, the frightened accounts of the voices and whispers that beckoned to herself whenever she walked past an alleyway--her teachers had assured her and her parents that these were all just a result of an overactive imagination. They had assured them that it would pass with time, and some even praised her, saying that she had quite an inventive mind to come up with such rich details.

At some point, as she grew older, the word "crazy" came to replace "creative".

After a long dark time in his life had suddenly lifted, here he was, groggily waking up in a hospital bed, his body weak and his mind foggy. There was a round faced red head staring down at him. "What're you doin' here?" He asked in a woozy tone, the delightful pain meds keeping him docile. “I’m here to see you…!” She replied, whispering to keep her voice down, but that edge of all that panic yet relief at seeing him alive crept into her tone. “Oh ****…I was so, so worried! They said you got capture and I was scared that I’d never see you again if they didn’t have a rescue mission and I’m really glad thatyou’reokayandhereandbreathingand—“ She had started to tear up now.

Something inside him stirred. He wanted her not to cry, and not because he was annoyed. He felt something for her, something of protection? Adoration? He couldn't find the right way to explain. His eyes lifted ever slightly to beside his bed, and arm slowly, almost sloth like in speed to take a tissue. It was then offered to the curly haired Mist. "Ya'll right there?"

“Oh…th-thank you so much!” She then dabbed at her eyes and blew her nose, neatly folding up the napkin and then holding onto it. “I’m okay…! I just…I really am really happy to see you, ****…” She mustered up a wide smile, and reached out to rest a hand gently on his shoulder, squeezing it a bit. “How are you feeling…?------

Cartwheels, Round offs, Back hand springs and dozens of other gymnastics moves probably weren't what the Training fields were made for. But that's what Clerise and **** were using them for today. He'd always had a knack for it, but with her teaching he was getting even better. It kept him loose, nimble. And.. it was fun.

It was fun to play with this woman, jumping around the grass like kids, despite the fact he'd always fought so hard to prove he wasn't one. At some point he'd really impressed her, and before he knew it his face was buried in the tall red head's bosom.

"Just like that, mister prodigy." Her prodigy, huh? That implied that maybe he was worth something to her.. that was----

Christmas shopping was fun, but *** had to admit that it was always pretty tough trying to pick out gifts for everyone. Even if she did have a fair bit of money stowed away now, the issue was picking out things that everyone would like. Some nice clothes for some of her friends, some hairclips and things for Jude...

And of course, a massive dinosaur plushie for her favourite giant teddy bear, Robert, because that was just the type of person she was.

The last memory was a simple one, short, brief, and sweet:

*** made a vow to herself. If anyone harmed her Puppy, she was sending them to the infirmary.

The large man let out a booming laugh as he gathered his work equipment for the day, "Hey, ******, wanna learn somethin' about fixin' a roof?" That day the workload would be light and easy, he felt he could focus on his son and give his wife a bit of a break as she got the home ready for new life.

He looked up from what he was doing and he gave a wide smile, "YEAH! I GET TO WORK WITH PAPA TODAY!" The small figure shot up to his feet so he could scamper after the taller man as he left for work that day.

He sat in front of the monitor for a long moment as he stared at the words on the screen; he bit down on the edge of his thumb thoughtfully. He didn't want to upset the person on the other end of the HIM conversation but he also didn't want to keep hiding how he felt either. It was an awkward thing for him - they likely never would meet in person but...
