Lanakirene - Lanakirene's stall
6 3/4 marks

Ah, a newcomer. La had been busy waving off her previous customers, ensuring that their experience was sufficiently positive to send them back to her when they needed more oil (she could always do with a bit of pocket change), when someone else came up unbeknownst to her. In fact, it wasn't until S'lin started talking that La looked over to the woman, a bright smile spreading across her face as she inclined her head and tapped one of the jars to which S'lin had clearly been referring. "Well, it's a bit of a theory I'm working on, you see," she began easily, the words quite cheerfully coming to her lips as she spread her hands wide to indicate the entire table.

"You see, certain plants have very specific effects on humans. And some of those plants - like numbweed, for instance, have the same effect on dragons." Numbweed was an easy example; it worked on both humans and dragons, and smelled atrocious to both. "So when I started making oils for hatchlings, I got to wondering if certain things would help, the way they do for humans. Have you ever tried a pillow stuffed partially with lavender, or lavender oil under your nose before you try to sleep?" She reached under the table and pulled out a small vial of what must have been pure lavender oil, uncorking it and holding it angled toward S'lin so she could smell it. "It helps relax you. Calms you down. Peppermint does the same. And I've found that in high enough concentrations, when mixed into oils, it has a very similar effect on dragons."

She smiled. "It helps that the peppermint oil actually imparts sort of a cooling sensation, as well. It's a mild analgesic - which makes surface feelings a little bit less prevalent. Which, again, helps dragons relax. The lavender-peppermint is very popular with Junior Weyrlings trying to get their dragons to sleep through the night. I use it on my Viath's muzzle just after Threadfall to calm him down, along with this -" and she tapped the jar clearly labeled as a muscle relaxant. "Which warms the skin and helps relax the muscles that way."

Rashel Kitsune
R'an -Stall Area - 3 Marks

The small journeywoman nodded slightly, a small smile gracing her lips. "Hello dear. Those ones there are 1/8 mark, the bright colours, and the more plain ones are 1/16. That little pile of bright ones there is 1/16 too as the dye hasn't come out quite right, Markus was practicing with new dyes weren't you Markus?"

Markus who had been staring after the girl who hadn't bought the dress startled slightly and then nodded. "Err, yes, I have been. Those ones were the first ones I did in each of the dyes, the better ones you can see there for 1/8 mark... err... which miss Lyn already said."

Adi - Y'or's Stall
6 Marks

Y'or grinned. "Wotcha! Adi, right? The harness is four marks, and I'll cut it down to the right size for you no extra charge if you like. Come on, have a feel of the fur. Promise you it's the most comfortable harness a dragon could ever ask for, Salyeth won't wear anything but fur trimmed except for flying Thread."

Tuatha De
Idris – 7 3/4 Marks – Vintner’s Stall

"Yes Ma'am," Kallnar replied cheerfully. "I'm glad you like the wine! First vintage we made when we moved.

"We're local now," Kay continued, "we lived in Benden Hold but we felt it wasn't such as safe place to be anymore so we moved here.

"We live in Eron Hold, but Y'or over there told us about this and gave us a lift over." Kallnar finished.

Adi - Y'or's Stall
6 Marks

Adi beamed brightly when recognized, and did have a feel of the fur, which was indeed quite soft and nice. But four marks was kind of a lot, in general. She did have four marks - actually, she had six - but there were so many other nice things she might want, too! Adi chewed at her lip, shuffled her marks in her hand, and thought about it. It was a really nice flight harness, and Maz would look really handsome in it. They wouldn't use it during Threadfall, of course, something could happen to ruin it, but for everything else...

"Maz would like it," she admitted, stroking the fur again. "He'd look really nice for deliveries."

Yeah, she wanted it, but she also wanted some more marks left for the rest of the Gather, and so the bluerider attempted to look as puppy-eyed and adorable as possible and asked, "Does it have to be four marks?"

((Rolled/posted haggle attempt here originally, wasn't sure if I'd be able to get on today...but yay, conversation! <3))

S'lin - Lanakirene's Stall
5 Marks

S'lin took a small sniff at the offered oil, since she knew that pure oils or medicines could sometimes have very strong scents, then took a deeper breath when she found it was not overpowering. It was a pleasant scent, and she nodded appreciatively at it. The method was not one she'd heard of, but perhaps it was a Trine thing. She hadn't had much of a chance to study with Trine's healers after coming from Malvren after the Revolution. Then again, it sounded like it was Lanakirene's own invention, so maybe it was entirely new. Regardless, it sounded like it had potential.

"So, you just apply some of this to the muzzle as needed, then, or do you have to apply it over a wider area for better effect?" she asked, indicating the lavender-peppermint jar. "And the label say it's an oil additive; what ratio of this to normal dragon oil is recommended, then?"

Lanakirene - Lanakirene's Stall
6 3/4 marks

La grinned; she liked it when her customers asked questions! "With this oil, most important is that he inhales it. The other additives, though, you're looking at something that needs to be on his body. This one in particular," and she lifted a jar of the additive specifically for sore muscles, "works in very close to the same way that a mustard poultice would work on humans - it warms and relaxes the skin. So this would need to go everywhere. With the lavender-peppermint, though, you can use as much or as little on him as you like."

"Somewhere between one jar to a gallon and one jar to three gallons the usual oil you use, in general," Lanakirene answered with a smile. Adult dragons didn't require the same continual full-body oiling that weyrlings did, so the additives went quite a bit further. "Depending on the individual dragon. Personally, I usually go with one jar to two gallons, but if your dragon is really anxious I might try going with one jar in one gallon to start."

I'saak - Ingar's Stall
4 7/8 marks

I'saak sidled over to the Master Smith's stall slowly, taking in the wares on the table with an expression of immense interest. The golden dagger, in particular, caught his attention - though he was quite positive that it was so thoroughly out of his price range, it was laughable. Still, he leaned in closer to examine the similar riders' knives, unable to hide the wistfulness in his expression.

"These are beautiful. I never really got the hang of art pieces or jewelry," he admitted casually to the man behind the table. "Big stuff, weird stuff...that was okay. When I was at the Hall, I never really had an eye for pretty things."

R'an - stalls - 3 marks
Spending: 1/8 = 2 1/16 marks spend
Have now: 2 7/8 Marks

~~~~~~~~~~~~
R'an smiled kindly at the kid, they weren't that bad looking and seemed rather unique. "I'll take two of those unevenly died ones. Blue if you have them." He said as he fished out the appropriate marks for them. "Best always to have a back-up huh? And they're quite unique. I'm sure ill have the only ones that will look like mine." He said with a smile, trying to make the boy feel a bit better about his work, though he knew nothing of the weaving craft. he was sure it was just as difficult to learn as any other craft. with a sigh, R'an gave the woman an apologetic look as he tried to maneuver his marks out of his pocket with one hand. Maybe he should keep them in his sling instead?
Once this was done, he would head to the games. He saw many people over there and wondered just what kind of prizes that they may have. Maybe he could get something for Syriacuth to entertain him until he could move around regularly again.
K'yne - Wandering off
2.5marks
"Half mark then," He agreed. K'yne handed the amount to her once the oil came out. He unbuckled his belt and lashed the oil C'ross picked out onto it with leather straps usually meant for weapons and his side odds-and-ends bag. The brownrider put his belt back on under his large, loose tunic, tightening it and letting his top fall down over it. Other than the slightest of bulge at his hip, the pint of oil stayed out of view. He snagged his own in one loose hand and looked back to I'saak with the faintest of grins. "Thank you, ma'am."
His quota of polite filled for the day, K'yne turned on his heel and walked after I'saak. "We can hit things with C'ross one he's calmed down from whatever his issue is. What do you want?" Unlike the first time he'd snapped the phrase to I'saak, the words were nearly friendly in K'yne's world. But... Ah. He found his question answered soon enough, gaze flickering over the jewelry instead. He reached for one of the earrings, fingers rolling over the large hoop. "It's difficult to get some of these things so seamless."
T'lon: T'lon's stall stool
3 Marks
T'lon settled himself on his stool and strummed his guitar. A sour note made him frown, and he pulled out his panpipes to blow a note. With that as a guide, he tightened one of the tuning pegs until the string sounded true again, then strummed it once more to check it. Satisfied that the instrument was properly tuned again, he set aside the pipes and whistled for his flits. Brown Echo landed delicately on his right shoulder, blue Piper perching somewhat more enthusiastically on his left. Poth watched on as the two folded their wings and took their positions.
Why play here? she asked her rider. There is a stage with other Harpers playing, you could join them there.
I could, and at most Gathers any Harper present is expected to take a turn at some point, he agreed. But they mentioned that playing alone or in small groups like this is allowed, and I haven't done something like that before. And if people were feeling generous they might toss mew a few bits of marks, which I wouldn't get if I played on stage. There would be less eyes on him too, for that matter, less people to judge his work. While he didn't outright say this, The feeling carried across the bond whether he liked it or now.
You play beautifully, and the little ones sing sweetly, she assured him. Perhaps you will gather your own little crowd.
T'lon ducked his head. He actually would prefer not to have a crowd. A few people coming and going was one thing, a bunch of them watching and listening all at once...her nervously drummed his fingers on his guitar before stilling them.
Poth noticed that her words had made Hers feel worse instead of better. Just play. Play your favorites, play popular songs, play obscure ones, play anything. Just play and see how things go, she suggested.
T'lon took a deep breath. Right, play. Pretend it was practice off in a quiet place between chores or something. He started strumming the opening bars to The Firelizard Song, the first song he taught his flits because it seemed so appropriate. After playing a short introduction, the two flits joined in. Piper, being newer and less trained, sang the melody while the more experienced Echo sang the harmony part. Their high, piping trills carried farther than the strumming of the guitar, and perhaps might be heard over the din of the Gather crowd.
Riarna - Kaylen's Weaver Stall
7 Marks [6 Marks (Rank), 2 1/2 (Earned, Trine Gather)- 1 1/2 (Stall Fee)]
Arms loaded with two large boxes of goods, Riarna cast her eyes about for a last minute place to set up her wares. She easily located Lyn's general Weyr Weaver stall. For today, Riarna had bypassed her duty to her fellows and was going to try her hand at selling her own goods. Her Gather dress had sold early on and to a high-paying customer the last time. This time, she would be prepared if more individuals were interested in fine clothing, embroideries, or interior decorating items.
In her search-- which had to be quick, the box was getting heavy-- Riarna spotted a stall with more than ample space that was manned by a single-- judging from her goods-- Weaver. She was unfamiliar, which meant she wasn't from Trine or Riarna's fellow refugees, and was likely looking to simply make a few marks. Still, space was space.
"Excuse me." Riarna stopped beside the booth, rather than in front of it, not wanting to block any customers who might pass by. From there, she got a good look at the woman's knots. "Journeywoman. I'm Journeywoman Riarna of Trine Weyr. Would you mind if I shared your booth space? I promise none of my goods are the same as yours and I wouldn't expect any share of the profits you make. I will pay my own stall fee, as well."
Just to keep things friendly, Riarna smiled as she carefully and casually set the edge of her box on the table. That was better!
S'lin - Lanakirene's Stall
5 Marks
"Hmm," S'lin hummed pensively, and took another sniff at the lavender-peppermint. "I take it you mean one of the quart jars to a gallon or three of oil, then?" she asked. She could keep a bucket of the scented oil to the side, separate from the plain oil. With the whole weyr packed beyond bursting to fit the better part of the inhabitants of three weyrs, Dranith's anxiety at being too close to other people or dragons had only ramped up. Something to at least take the edge off might be just the thing. Nothing in there would hurt Dranith, and it might do some good. She could spare half a mark, just to give it a try. And if it didn't help, at least it would make her dragon smell pretty.
"I'll have a quart of this one, and we'll see how it goes, then," she told Lanakirene, indicating the lavender-peppermint and pulling out a half mark.
Lanakirene - Lanakirene's Stall
7 marks
"That's only a quarter-mark, dear." Lanakirene's smile was bright as she made change, handing over a quarter-mark piece and tying a ribbon around the bottle for S'lin. "And if it works, you can find me in the infirmary. We can negotiate a long-term agreement, if you think you need it. Lavender and peppermint aren't hard to get." Both of them were hardy plants, easy to grow even in pots, so Lanakirene rarely had a problem getting the supplies she needed for that particular oil. "It's been a pleasure doing business with you," she added, touching her forelock in respect.
Kaylen sighed as she finished setting out her wares in a nice display, but it only took about 1/3 of the counter up, plenty of free space. She wished she had made more items to sell!
She looked up as she heard a voice directed to her. "Hello, I'm journeywoman Kaylen, I'm from a hold outside of Trine." Giving the woman a kind smile, she nodded, "Sure I'd be happy to join up with you. My stall is plenty empty as you can see, though I might need space later to do some resizing, but other than that, fell free to set up your wares." She gestured to the rest of the counter. "Oh and just be alittle careful of Lissy." Kaylen pointed up to the fire lizard who was lounging on the sign above them. "She can be alittle nosy, but she won't do any harm." She said happily.
S'lin - Leaving Lanakirene's stall
4 3/4 Marks
S'lin smiled back as she took the change and bottle. "Thank you. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes," she said, and tucked the bottle securely in a belt pouch meant for a water flask. It fit snugly, so it ought to be safe. "And a pleasure doing business with you as well," she responded, nodding to the other woman. "I hope you have a nice day."
With that transaction done, she turned to head off and see what else teh Gather had to offer.
Riarna - PC Weaver Stall
SETTING UP RIARNA'S GOODS; BROWSING IS WELCOME
And there. Just like that it was settled. Riarna lifted her boxes again and moved behind the table to start getting set up. There was really no time to lose; every second's delay was a customer lost.
"Thank you." She set the boxes on the ground and opened the first one, casting periodic glances up at Kaylen and forming an initial assessment of her. It was not entirely favorable.
"As for her," Riarna nodded at the firelizard as she withdrew a stack of pants from the box, "Not a problem. I have a Blue who I ordered to stay at my room, but I have no doubt he'll appear at some point. We'll just have to be sure neither of them end up with their claws in the fabric of something."
The amount of goods and the types of goods she had chosen to showcase told Riarna that although Kaylen might be a journeywoman, she had never done any of her own sales before (at least not at a Gather). Such a small variety said she had little work of her own to showcase. The scarves, Riarna noticed as she set the basic pants on the opposing end of the table and arranged them appealingly, were meant more for decoration than serious use, which was better than the winter scarves Riarna had initially believed them to be. The length on some of them looked good enough to substitute the scarves as sashes, as well. Dual-purpose items tended to sell well. With the exception of some very interesting dyed fabric, however, the scarves were plain.
Well, Kaylen was nice enough, though, and that counted for something, Riarna supposed. And, if the day ever came where they were serious competitors, Riarna would have more than enough extra experience and sales-savvy to easily outpace the girl when it came to customers and competition.
As she withdrew the first stack of shirts from the box, she glanced back at Kaylen. "I'll leave some space between us for your resizing. How much are you charging, if I might ask?"
There were tags on some of her items at least, which was good, but Riarna hadn't had time to get a good look. What this woman charged would be another indication of if she had any kind of common sense at all. Or, at least, any sense of what Weavercraft was actually worth.
She arranged the finely dyed shirts beside the pants and then double checked the side she was on to make sure there was room and considerable grip for her to suspend a line to hang her women's shirts and her new Gather dress from. Too bad there wasn't more space for the blanket... ah well. The colors were almost offensive to her, but some riders were eccentric. If it didn't sell this time, it would next time, and once she set it out the vibrant yellow and orange would doubtlessly draw attention (and therefore customers) to their booth, if nothing else.
Yes, plenty of space. Riarna carefully retrieved the folded green dress and women's shirts and set them on the counter top. With that done, she fetched her twine and small nails and set about affixing a short length of string to the small area between the booth's "window" front and the corner. It would serve for the dress, at least. She could figure out something else to do with the shirts in a moment.
Kindra says HAI!
Kindra was wandering the stalls, her thoughts lingering to the brooch she'd seen on the Master Smith's stall... she'd try and go back and buy it later perhaps if she had the Marks. Something caught her eye though, a woman setting out some things on a table. Weaver's stall if the looks of other things were anything to go by. OH! oh Kindra remembered her, she'd comissioned a couple of dresses from the woman since the last gather. "Riarna!" she called, and hurried over, hopefully the good stuff was still there, she knew the woman made quality things.... heck she made the dress Kindra was currently wearing, and had embroidered it with Gold thread too, she rather loved it and had been pleased to have an occasion to wear it.
"Riarna, what's the green thing?" she asked, she could see the quality and was rather interested she knew that the dresses were well shaped even before any addition and this one, though plain looking seemed to have a belt and some sort of jewels? She couldn't get a good look because Riarna was somewhat in the way as she hung up some string and the dress was still folded so she wasn't even sure if it WAS a dress, she hoped it was. She was curious about the shirts too, she could buy another one for N'mol perhaps. He'd liked the shirt last time.
