V'lay and Blue Vinath - burn post HP: 36 Agility: +2 -----
Firestone refilled, and V'lay was ignoring the pain in his ribs for the time-being. Vinath blinked back into existence a dragonlength from position, pelting toward his wing with all the speed a blue could muster.
They hit formation again just in time for Vinath to flame a few strands that had slipped past a bronze above him, the blue snapping his jaws irritably at the dust before it blew away, then turning his muzzle back to V'lay. A chunk of firestone was fed into his jaws, and Vinath rumbled, eyes whirling red-orange as he watched the skies.

J'nes and brown Hatteth - burn post HP: 44/53 Agility: +1 Thread: 78/171
Hatteth received another chunk of firestone from J'nes, then turned his attention back on the skies. Heading right for them was a huge tangle of Thread, one of the larger ones he'd ever seen. Hatteth quickly took aim and sprayed with a large burst of flame. As they flew through the resulting char, J'nes had to wipe bits of ash off his goggles.

J'nes and brown Hatteth - damage post HP: 38/53 Agility: +1 Damage: 7-1 = 6
The large clump wasn't alone. Coming up alongside it was another tangle, not quick as large but moving more quickly. Hatteth tried to take aim to flame it, but J'nes warned him to just get out of the way. Before Hatteth could do either, it ran into his right wing.
Hatteth bellowed and popped between. As they returned to the sky, J'nes surveyed the damage. The delicate wingsail was quite scored, with little pockmarks of it eaten straight through. Can you still fly alright? Should we land? he asked his dragon, concerned.
I fly. We can get it tended later, Hatteth insisted, reaching his head back for more stone.

Cetalese & Green Halith HP: 35 Dmg Mod: +2 Thread Burned: 7 Scored: Yes. Current Thread: 78-7=71
Cetalese and Halith stayed through the dragon change. Halith might be a ball of energy, but that came in handy where stamina was concerned. If this wave was too long, they would have to return to the Weyr to rest, but otherwise they should be able to pull through.
How are you doing, Halith?
I am fine. I will continue to fly.

Cetalese & Green Halith HP: 35-1+2=35 (0 dmg)
There was little warning when their first close call came. Cetalese barely saw the silver out of the corner of her eye, and it was the flare of emotions, rather than any clear instructions, that prompted Halith's response.
Halith blinked between and when the pair reappeared the Thread was gone, either fallen below them or taken care of by another dragon.
Good reflexes. Focus now.

Blue Malcarreth - HP: 41/41 Agility: +5 ---------------------
C'tis glanced in the direction Malcarreth indicated, and there indeed flew Pioth. He hadn't drilled with the wings or anything! Still, looked like he was fitting in okay.
Malcarreth acknowledged his rider's request and sent a mental tap on the shoulder to Pioth.

Damage taken: 9 - 5 = 4 HP: 37/41 ---------------
Perhaps by the end of this fall Malcarreth and C'tis really would learn not ot get distracted. As the blue spoke to Pioth and flamed at a tangle of Thread to his left, another blew in from his right. The small dragon caught sight of it in his peripheral vision at the last moment and swerved violently to avoid it. Fast though he was this time he was not quite fast enough; the ravenous tendrils caught his tail sending the blue between with a hiss.
C'tis tried to curse in shock and pain but by the time he got around to that Malcarreth had jumped between and his voice was lost in the void. A moment later they reappeared in formation, more embarrassed than really hurt.

Lanakirene and Black Viath - burn post HP: 32 Agility: +2 -----
They were getting better.
Viath twisted out of the way of a falling clump of Thread, all but flipping himself over in the air to neatly sear all of it out of the sky before swerving neatly away and blasting flame at another, smaller tangle of strands. They were getting the hang of it. Maybe they were hitting their stride.

J'nes and brown Hatteth - damage post HP: 38/53 Agility: +1 Thread: 53/171
J'nes eyed Hatteth's scores as the dragon chewed more firestone. None were debilitating - yet, anyway. That wing score could weaken the integrity of the wing if it wasn't treated quickly. It would hold Hatteth for now, but the rider hoped this fall would be over soon, so he could get a healer to take care of it.
While his rider was considering health risks, Hatteth was focused on hos own job: clearing the sky. He watched a tangle of Thread that was just out of his reach, with an eye out for any other potential targets. A shift in the wind blew that tangle out of another dragon's path and straight into his, where he was quick to flame it.

Malcarreth - HP: 37/41 Agility: +5 ---------------------
Malcarreth observed to C'tis once he'd recovered his aplomb, annoyed with himself for slipping up like that. His side stung like shards now; he hadn't time to look at the damage but he knew it couldn't be all that bad or it would be doing a lot more than 'stinging'.
Another clump of Thread came towards them but he clocked it neatly this time and flamed and-
It spluttered out, searing a bit of the tangle but not the whole patch.

Damage: 8 - 5 = 3 HP: 34/41 ----------
Malcarreth jumped between the moment he realised what was happening which was fortunate as the large clump hit him full in the chest. Had he reacted even a few moments later it could have killed him, would almost certainly have done very serious damage, and might have severed his harness sending C'tis spinning off into the void of between without him.
At it was they reappeared safely with only minor damage to Malcarreth's hide. The riding harness would need replacing after the fall but provided they didn't take any more hits to it, it would survive the day.

Rochelle and Kibeth Burn HP: 48/55
A strange bronze popped into view; Rochelle couldn't make out the details of S'dekai, nor would she really remember him if she could. They'd been in different cell and at the time of rescue too desperate to get out to take in details. Still - strange dragon but she supposed she couldn't know every dragon around. (In truth, she knew barely a fraction. Rochelle could never be called the most perceptive.) She glanced over, caught sight of Thread and a certain spotted blue, and stifled a snarl.
Kibeth pulled them away in a sharp turn to force Rochelle's eyes away, her wings snapping with a bit more force than required. Pay attention and crouch lower, we're not dying today because your crush got a threadscore somewhere other than a vital organ. Luckily for them both, they missed the hit to the chest.

O'thor and Silver Adamanth HP: 60 Dmg Mod: -1 Thread Burned: 9 Scored: No. Current Thread: 49-9=40
Nicely done, O'thor complimented his Silver after his dragon adjusted for an updraft and simultaneously burned Thread from their path.
Yes, we are doing well. Many seem to be flying well today. Perhaps it is recent events that make them so determined to fulfill their duties to the upmost.
O'thor had no immediate comment for that, as he and those he cared for had been far from the encounters between Weyr and Whers. He had no interest in repeating his experiences during the flight from Malvren.
Do not be lost in thought now, O'thormine. I need your eyes as much as mine. We, too, must do our duty.
Right. Sorry.
No apology is necessary, simply focus.

V'lay and Blue Vinath - burn post HP: 36 Agility: +2 -----
The younger blue - one who had arrived to save the prisoners at Benden, V'lay recognized the hatchling's striking pattern - had gone after a patch of Thread and it wasn't clearing quickly. A single mental nudge, and the elder bluerider was drawing alongside C'tis and Malcarreth with ease, avoiding the smaller blue's airspace while Vinath flamed the rest of the sheet out of the sky. It felt perfect, smooth and practiced, and V'lay gave C'tis a brief gesture of solidarity before Vinath turned away, elated at the ease of the motion they had just taken.

V'lay and Blue Vinath - damage post HP: 28 Agility: +2 -----
The triumph of catching such a massive clump made them clumsy for a moment, and as Vinath turned his head back to take another chunk of firestone from his rider, a tangle of Thread fell directly onto his face.
The blue shrieked, momentarily losing his concentration and betweening, only to reappear below even the queen's wing. V'lay hung on resolutely while his dragon clawed at his own muzzle, and though the Thread itself was gone, crumbled to dust between, he could see the marks on Vinath's jaw.
You okay, old man?
I've been better. Quiet, dry. But Vinath wasn't going to let the Thread stop him, and V'lay tossed him another hunk of firestone.
C'mon, back up. We're almost done this wave.
