Cai shot Wen a look. "I'd rather have them then let my enemies use them." She shook herself free of him and with a deep breath stood up straight. "I can walk myself." Her voice was tight, as at the same time she was fighting her own anxiety she was also trying to calm Miath down.
The crimson was digging deep troughs in the dirt, her tail lashing and her wings opening and closing spasmodicly. Her eyes sped yellow, grey and white as she fussed. Miath! Knock it off! I'll be fine. We're on our way out! The dragon could already 'see' the human's who'd trapped them in the hallway. Miath's throat tightened on a keen of distress.
Rynsemth, can't we go get them?! She couldn't sit down, couldn't sit still. Hers wasn't well, she wasn't safe and she needed her!

As the knowledge of incoming hostiles rolled through the members of the Dragonriders, the fight began. InstructionsC’ross, S’lin, and Cai : Double damage against KnifeMan. "Fine." Wen muttered and cursed slightly, Of all times to be distracted? During a mission and at least their was only three. He slipped his hand down his shirt, drawing the closest knife dangling from his hostler and reached out. 'Rynsemth, three people, tell the others and see if they can keep them from gathering reinforcements.'
The black nosed the crimson, trying to calm Miath down.

S'lin heard the shouting of wherholders only moments before they charged through the smoke into view. She froze briefly, assessing the attackers. The one with the knife looked most dangerous, best to take him out first. So she ran at the man and swung a punch at him, trying to remember everything she'd learned in the recent combat training.

C'ross cursed his own lack of foresight; he'd thought to bring only the necessities for this mission in order to keep from burdening himself. Only the firestarting kit and the poison pouch, because there was too much risk that the bright blade of his combat knife could catch the light. The smaller blade in his flint and steel kit was blackened for stealth, but just as small and unsuitable for combat as if he'd charged trained fighters with a fruit knife.
So bare knuckles it was. He closed in with the man wielding the knife with a hard-hitting blow, bringing everything he knew about close quarters combat to bear. If he could just get in close, pummel the man, and then take his weapon...

One of them had a knife. That was the man at whom V'lay lunged, hoping his size and experience would force him to go down. Without really thinking except to glance over at the young man also heading toward the knife-wielder, he lunged forward and to the side, moving between the man holding the torch and the man holding the knife, aiming to strike him from the side while C'ross attacked him from the front. It wasn't his best maneuver - V'lay didn't work well in crowds - but he hoped it would be enough.

Dice one - Knifeman dodging V'lay Dodge: HP: 8/30 Damage: (6 + 10 + 12) - 6 = 22 ========== The man with the knife hardly knew what hit him so swiftly did the blows rain down. He did his best to get out of the way of the third person to attack him but though he softened that blow he was left reeling.
The tall man swore and rushed at C'ross with his club raised. "Get off'a him, hidebound scum!"
He was soon joined by the man wielding the torch who chose V'lay as his first mark. Grim and silent he made a great swing with his burning weapon, his eyes burning equally bright with focused rage. Instructions:One turn of bonus damage remains!

Smart man. Cai stepped aside as Wen drew a blade and joined the fray. She was unarmed, and inexperienced with fighting. The training she'd received had not gone over well either. Against the man with the club, or worse the one with the torch, she had no defences and no desire to get within their reach. The other man, while he had a knife, was falling under the attacks of her companions. Cai thrust her way in and threw a fist at him, for lack of anything better to use.
Caimine you are hurt! Stay away from them! Miath collapsed to her stomach and stretched her neck out in the loose direction of her rider. A herdbeast would be nice... She added to Rynsemth unhelpfully.
((1 - 1 = 0 x 2 = 0... oh well. ))

Shaff! It didn't take long for things to get ugly in the dark hallway. The Wherholder thugs didn't even attempt conversation before they were attacking (though neither did the riders he was currently with). When the tallman swung at C'ross, Felix took the opening and leveled a punch right at his jaw.

He felt the solid impact of his knife against the man at the same time as he felt something hard come down against him. He tried to roll out of the way, but the torch (Faranth, why hadn't it occurred to him that his assailant would use the torch as a weapon) had connected, and he could feel heat in the place on his jacket where the flames had connected. It didn't catch, though, and it was the blunt impact on his shoulder that was causing the pain. Shrugging away and shaking his arm out, he tried to circle. The tallest of the group had gone after the young man, who was barehanded.
V'lay moved forward and slashed aggressively, hoping to take the window of opportunity while the tall man was distracted to strike him hard.
