I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGERPLOTS? Sprite

yet, so I'm waiting to see the gender before I decide for sure.
This is what i have in mind...: I've got some backstory written for this to-be Noodle. It's a bit rough, and this summary will make it sound rougher, but it deals with a broken promise to a loved one and being more or less stolen by a fairy of sorts so that when they escaped a ton of time in our world had passed. If you want to read the whole thing I can toss it at you. I'm still working out bits of the actual personality, but I can tell you for sure they will be a warrior, very strong and perhaps I might add a little magic from the fairy. They used to be proud of their strength, but with the passing of time and all that they knew gone, they have nothing left to protect and thus will be a lot quieter about it.
I'd like to see things start off more like friends. Perhaps one day they walk up on Sprite being bullied by a group or individual? Maybe he's lost in the forest and in a bad situation, like night is falling and he got hurt? It could even be the other way around, where my critter is perhaps in a social setting like a bar or something and is being harassed by folks who won't leave them be, and Sprite decides to try defending them or something? Basically anything that gets the ball rolling. What I picture happening is as they get closer my critter becomes a bit more alive and actually begins showing interest in things again because, subconsciously, they realize they have something important to protect again. Now if this doesn't work out as a romance, that feeling of protection will never change. If mine gets a mate or Sprite finds a mate, my critter will always feel close and protective towards their friend.
How things blossom after that really depends on if you can see the story I see, and how we want to take it. Sprite could be my critter's love reincarnated into a different body, which one or both of them could figure out. They could just be close friends who one day realize that feels run deeper than what normal friendship should. We could even do a drunk, romance-y fun time night that ends up in an awkward morning with them stumbling to work through the awkward and feelings of friendship and trying to sort all that stuff out in all manners of cute and feels. I'm pretty flexible about plot ideas, so as long as you like their looks and think their personalities will work together, I'm up for any suggestions!

hoping for mates, but if we can't feel a romance between them I'd be happy to settle for good friends.
RP or Non?: Well honestly backstory is a favorite, since you can cover more ground in less time and still work out feels and things. Great for when you don't have time to roleplay. I think a bit of roleplay here and there, to really cement things and add a bit of depth, would be good as well.
