Much to Jericho's dismay, two members of their party went down.
"Kettil! Hel!" he called out before he almost was eaten along with the two reapers. At least he was too big for it.

A cold fury boiled through Malodore; without thinking it snapped its wings forward, even though the movement sent a jolt of pain searing through it. Its FEAR flowed again, this time not to heal, but to harm. Spurred on by FEAR, bladed feathers flew and drove into the beast's hide.

 The blood dripping from those long rows of teeth were only Jericho's. It had swallowed the previous two whole, but the only one it had tasted - the only one it craved - was the giant dragon before it. So once more, it rose up, chomping its teeth down into the meaty flesh of Jericho's neck- And this time, something snapped.

It wasn't enough that she'd just lost two good team members. Apparently, things had to get much, much worse before they got any better.
Riley was clinging to Jericho's tail for support, when she heard the sound. Every muscle in her body shuddered with an agony she didn't think she should feel. She almost fell to her knees in acceptance then, but her arm remained firmly clung to Jericho's tail, and she reached her hand out to pet the scales of his back.
She couldn't tell if he was alive or dead.
Exhausted with defeat, she sent psionic shards out once more, but even she could feel the weary weight of death looming in on them. She wanted to defend Malodore, the way Jericho had defended them both, but she didn't even have the strength to protect herself.
Sorry, mia cara. She whispered softly, affectionately, to the plague doctor. Not this time. HP: 14 Damage: 6

Malodore staggered to her side. It should be terrified, it knew, dimly - the last time they'd been in a situation like this, it had lost her. Except it hadn't lost her. She was still here. They had withstood far, far worse than this beast. "Next time," it promised, wrapping its arms around her and filling her with its healing power. HP: 6 Action: Healing Target: Riley Healed: 7 + 3 healbuff = 10HP

Boss HP: 33 It was a touching love scene, and the monster would have been moved, except it was a monster, and did not care for things like love and sacrifice. All it cared for was winning. So it did not wait for the moment to end; the tail coiled around the two, slicing right through the plague doctor's body.

Riley felt Malodore's Fear filling her with energy, soothing her wounds, calming her nerves; but within its promise, and its actions, she knew what was coming. Her arms tightened around those holding her, clinging desperately. She whispered a soft, begging please. If she could just hold on hard enough, keep it safe, protect it somehow, maybe she wouldn't have to-
Her entire body stiffened when she felt the pressure of that tail force its way through her beloveds body and attempt to do the same through hers. When she looked down, she saw that spiked tip through the gaping hole in her own body.
She shook, refusing to look behind her. She couldn't feel Malodore anymore. Her eyes closed, pinched shut tightly. Her body shook with rage. And when her eyes opened again, they were a deep, dark blood red.
The beast felt the full fury of a woman with nothing left to lose.
HP: 10
Damage: 20

So close. She could see it wearing down just as hard as she. Perhaps it was the fact she'd just had to feel Malodore die behind her, or perhaps it was simply that Riley was stronger with others, than alone.. but she still did not think this was going to go in her favor.
Her shards flew out, puncturing tiny eyes with careful, strategic shots. If she could blind it, maybe..

Boss HP: 5 Blinding a monster so giant wasn't going to work in her favor. It roared, enraged, and flailed until its claws met soft, giving flesh. It caught on, and squished. It flopped back down, satisfied, but deeply wounded. Still, it had won.. Hadn't it? Sosiqui Malodore is revived at full HP! Blade Kuroda Jericho is revived at full HP! Lucyal Hel is revived at full HP! Pales Kettil is revived at full HP! Nio Love Riley is revived at full HP!

Jericho was back now. And he was not a happy dragon. He had seen this beast take out half their party before he was chomped down as well. Flaring his wings out, he let out a thunderous roar. As he did this, he felt a surge of fear flowing through him before a large flaming twenty sided die came raining down onto the toothy creature.
The dragon stared after he had done this, feeling a little drained after doing so.
"...Did I just do that?"
HP: 39
Damage: 10
BOSS IS NOW DEAD TAKE THAT.

"... It seems that you did, and I am quite glad of it," Malodore said, bemused. It had been sliced through, and yet now it was back - had it truly dissipated? How very odd. But it was back. and so was everyone else. And it seemed the beast was well and truly dispatched at this time.
It moved to Riley's side, reaching out to place one hand on her arm. "Do we move forward from here?"

As soon as she had realized this was it for her, Hel had honestly been expecting to appear back at Amityville, full of disappointment and rage that she had been eaten…
So when she reappeared right where she had been before…well, it was rather disorienting! The reaper’s eyes were comically wide for a moment as she looked around, her spear held out, just in case. Seeing that the danger was gone…and all her team mates were still there the ghoul relaxed, releasing a loud breath. “How the ******** did that happen?” She asked, coming over towards the others.

Kettil had embraced his dissipating upon performing his final act of rebellion against the beast. Granted it was frightening as the maw opened to swallow him up but he had accepted it. Even Endzela had landed and waited for her inevitable dissipation and return to Amity.
Except they were back and in the caves.
The illusion of a glorious death only a memory in their minds.
"Huh..." Kettil murmured as he turned toward the others. "... .. ..We moving on again, then?"
It was probably better to not talk about it.
